In an effort to save my rocks and slow down the water transfer, I usually dip the suction tip into the gravel to start cleaning, then lift. I purchased this vacuum to help clean the bottom of a 45 gallon fresh water tank. I was leary at first since it was the first siphon vacuum I'd purchased, but was very pleased with the results immediately!I place a 5 gallon bucket on the floor, place the end of the hose into the bucket and secure it with the clip provided. I then place the vacuum in the tank, shake it up and down quickly to start the suction, and then take it to the bottom of the tank. It takes me about 10 minutes from start to finish! If you work quickly, it takes out approximately 25% of the water in the tank. Perfect solution for a clean tank and a water change!
You must work quickly once the vacuum starts or you could easily end up removing more water, but makes cleaning and water changes quick and easy!

I have a 20 gallon fish tank. Cleaning the tank and changing the water took too much time before I used the 9-inch Aqueon Siphon. Learning the rhythm to get the siphon vacuum suction started can seem difficult at first. However, it is easy to start when the vacuum is completely submerged in the water and the end of the hose is a significant distance below your tank. Worked best for me when my bucket and end of the hose were at least three feet below the siphon within the fish tank. I bought a used Prizm skimmer from a fellow member of my Reef Club. I installed it on a 10 Gallon nano reef that I set up. I had problems adjusting the flow (either too much and pumping microbubbles into tank, lucky break: it skims great for awhile or no suction for any apparent reason). This skimmer was used and had been broken and repaired. I decided that maybe the previous damage was the source of my problem. So I ordered a new one.I installed the new skimmer on my 30-Gallon reef. At first it worked ok. It never produced much skimmate. Yet I had enough dissolved organics in the tank to support a healthy hair algae outbreak. Three months later and I'm again fighting loss of suction, overflowing collection cup and/or tons of microbubbles discharged into the tank.
I took the skimmer apart, replaced all O-rings and tubing. Skimmer worked so-so for another 2-3 months and then problems started again. Neither new or used skimmer ever worked very well. If it couldn't keep up on a 30-Gallon, there's no way it can keep up on the capacity rating of 100-Gallons.
For @$125 new, I would say I didn't even got what I paid for. Save the money, do more research and buy a real skimmer.

I chose this skimmer. And I have regretted it. ever. since. It had NO instructions for how to get it to start sucking up the water so it took forever to figure it out (you have to put the little black tube on one opening until it starts sucking then quickly switch it to the other opening to create bubbles....). the 'deluxe' surface skimmer clip broke in less than a week, it's a joke. I've had it 9 months and it's been off for 3 at least, I just removed it from the tank the other day. Everytime I would plug it in it would skim for a few hours and then I would come in and it would be running dry and not be sucking water anymore. it constantly fills my 40 gallon with tiny bubbles. the carbon media container got stuck and refused to come out when I wanted to change it so I didn't get it out until I pried it out after taking the skimmer off my tank. this skimmer STINKS! It NEVER skimmer well, needed constant adjusting, because an adjustment that works one day suddenly wont be working the next... just AWFUL! Lee's counter current $20 skimmer works better than this! Oh, and it's loud!

Lesson learned: You get what you pay for. The Aqueon aquarium heaters work better (they were recommended to me) but it's almost twice the price on Amazon and even more at the pet store so I got this. I bought it the last week of June to treat ick in a tank. It was always about 3 degrees off but I dealt with it. I used it occasionally, I'd say I used this heater for a total of 15 days before it malfunctioned. I decided about a week ago to buy some tropical fish and I tried to get this to heat to a constant 77 degrees. Worked fine before bed, but I woke up the next morning to dead fish and a tank temperature of 86 to 88 degrees! It was HOT in there! I call the company and what do I hear?"Maybe your thermometers are inaccurate." BOTH OF THEM?
"Is it hot outside your house?" Does it matter? The tank is INSIDE my house, and my room temperature is a steady 68 degrees. I live in the Arctic. No, it is not hot outside my house.
I don't know about you, but when I get asked stupid questions like that by people blaming everything but their product for a malfunction, I get kind of annoyed. I was promised a refund by the guy I called for support, then their returns department denied it because I've had the unit for almost 3 months. They said they do not issue refunds after 14 days, and if I want to use the warranty I have to pay to ship the item to them! For a $16 heater, that is not even worth my time or money paying to ship it back, let alone the cost of gas to drive to the post office! What kind of "customer service" is that? I'm sure they bet on people not bothering to pay return shipping for the warranty and instead buy a new one!
This heater was not accurate from the start. If it's going to kill my fish and I have to "re-calibrate it" (their suggestion) over and over again to get it to work temporarily, I am not going to use it and risk a repeat of fish casualties. I unplugged it, pulled it out of the water minutes later and it burnt my hand it was so hot. It smelled strongly of burnt rubber. Unsafe. Do not buy Aquatop!!! Spend a few bucks more on a quality product.
I purchased both the 100W and 200W heaters. Both had the same problems. It was not one defective heater ... it's a common problem!
Last time I am buying an Aquatop product of any kind!

This heater's temp setting is as loose as a goose not accurate at all. Tested on an EMPTY (no fishies or plants thank goodness) aquarium that had a heater already in it. Temp was 74. We have 3 thermometers one digital, one float-about, and one glass sticky (which I don't depend on too much, but it gives me a quick reference). Anyway, we put the heater in and let it acclimate for 3 hours. We turned it up until it clicked on. You'd think we'd be around 74, right? WRONG! It was closer to 66. (Maybe it's because we're back on standard time?...just kidding!! It just made about that much sense.) Anyway, thinking maybe the response was just delayed, we turned it down again, and went much slower giving 5-10 seconds between adjustments. Still turned on at around 66.But that isn't even the worst part. This is: We removed the old heater and watched the temp. The heater didn't click on until the temperature (measured by our thermometers) dropped to around 65, and it stayed on for what seemed to be forever until it reached 76 degrees!! I was just ready to unplug the thing when it finally clicked off. That is one mighty big swing, folks! I'm glad I was being methodical and patient about setting up this new tank, or my fish would have been seriously stressed.
If you care about your fish, and I'm sure you do or you wouldn't be looking for a heater, DO NOT get this one. Move on.
As a side note: Heater is advertised "fully submersible". When you first open the box, the cardboard insert has a sticker on it that says "fully submersible". However, when you read through the booklet, it says clearly to leave the top above the waterline. I found a YouTube video that says they don't recommend fully submersible use. Frustrated, I found Aquatop's email and wrote to them asking if it's fully submersible or not. They said yes. ...for what it's worth!

I set the heater to 80 it heated the water to 105 and was still "on". It's for use on a quarantine tank so it only killed a few new fish, and possibly the bacteria. I am getting a replacement, ONLY because of the limited use it will get. I would not trust running one on one on a show tank. This unit works as it describes and is good at it.However......... when you take it out of the box there is a "Fully Submersible" sticker that you must take off before putting it in thr water. This is quite funny as it clearly states "Do not put below water line".
So this is NOT fully submersible. I called tech support which was friendly and fast and they said that while they do not really "recommend putting the dial portion of the heater below the water line" their engineers "say that this does work under water fine". So it sounds like it might or might not work, and does not have the confidence of tech support to be placed below water line. Also the top part is much thicker than the actual heater as you can clearly see, however this is a problem as the lip of most aquariums comes out just a bit, leaving you to have to place the suction cups way at the bottom of the heater to be able to grab any of the glass since the top part must be out of water.....

I purchased two and each shows a different temperature (probably both wrong). The difference is greater than 2 degrees Fahrenheit. Obviously quality control does not exist. It seems that that paper part with those numbers are attached in a wrong position. Since it is in a closed glass cylinder, nothing one can do. If you are looking for acceptable quality, look elsewhere.

Cichlid Stick Fish Food
I have a 125 full of Cichlids and they show very little interest in these sticks. I have put them in whole and broke them up into smaller pieces and still no reaction. My fish like the pellet food or flakes. I usually end up getting the net and scooping the sticks back out. Can't say anything about quality just that my Cichlids do not like them.

Hagen Marina 360-Degree Aquarium Starter Kit
This is a nice little desktop tank perfect for a betta or some small shrimp. It's very sleek and modern looking and is basically silent when the filter is running. I love that all of the essential fish tank equipment (filter, heater, lights) are all neatly enclosed in the white pillar in the back. It's really nice that there's nothing ugly distracting from my pretty aquarium set-up. It looks awesome with the lights on as well. Very eyecatching.As the previous reviewer said, it's sometimes hard to see through the rounded sides as it gets a bit distorted but overall I really like the "360"-ness of it. It's cool that I can see my fish no matter what side of the tank I'm looking at. I think it's a nice effect and adds to the sleek look of the tank as well.
This is my first fish tank and I found it very easy to set up as the directions with the tank were very helpful (even gives general fishkeeping troubleshooting tips). It includes the tank, filter (with cartridges), LED lights (white and blue), a section behind the cartridges where a Marina heater fits nicely, as well as some water conditioner and "cycle starter" for getting the tank up and running. All you need to get are the decorations and food (and of course the fish!)
If you would like to see more details just search for the model name on youtube. There are a couple of nice videos and reviews there that I found helpful.

Actually I would give this product a 4.5 start rating if I could. This is the second Outward Hound treat bag that I have purchased and use it every day with my dog. I love the fact that there are 2 internal compartments along with the mesh compartment on the outside. I use one of the compartments inside to stash a few dollars and my lip balm, and the other of course for treats. I usually put a poop bag in the mesh compartment outside. I also like the adjustable waist strap. I can cinch it down in the summer when I'm not wearing a coat and give myself more room to go over a heavy winter coat. Other bags I tried before these clipped onto my belt, but would never stay on. They could be eaily knocked off.There are 2 issues with this bag. The mesh compartment is not deep so things can fall out and I have lost a poop bag or two. (That's OK I always carry multiple). The bigger issue is the bag "pops" open using a thin metal band covered in the fabric. You have to be careful because over time ( at least on the last one I had) that metal cracked/broke and ripped through the fabric. I covered it with duck tape but it got bad enough that I would scratch my hand on it. I finally tossed it and got a new one. I just try to open and close the pouch as few times as I can.
I would recommend it.

When I ordered this for my tank I, admittedly, did not read the description all that carefully. I had a look at the dimension at that was pretty much it. I fully expected to receive a resin based cave in a slightly unique shape. I received the stone and pulled it from the box. I was pleasantly surprised. This is a quality product made of ceramic not the resin (plastic) that aquarium owners are so accustomed to. It is quite weighty and sank to the bottom of my tank even when partially full of air. Several of my cichlids have been in and out but none have claimed residence yet, thought I expect that's just a matter of time.

Hagen Elite 5-Way Air Control Valve
The whole point of these products is to fine tune the air output of each outlet in order to set the function needed perfectly. For example, an air powered ornament needs a different amount of air than a bubble wall, than an under gravel filter, etc.This product fails this big time. It's impossible to fine tune anything because the knobs don't turn smoothly, if at all. I have to use pliers on them to get anything different from full on or full off and the sticky action of the valves makes even crude settings impossible.
I would have been better off using a rats nest of tee's.

Bought this locally but love it so much I had to write a review. I have the 4 gallon version using soil covered with gravel as the substrate. The filter works great the filter media is a foam pad with Eheim biomedia. The only issue when cleaning the filter is some of the debris will fall off the foam pad when lifting it from the tank. Would have been better with a smaller pore foam pad. This means I have to do the water change after cleaning the filter. The LED light is fantastic I have glosso that is runnering and growing prostrate (instead of upright) which makes it a more attractive foreground plant. I can also get marsilea to grow under this light intensity supplemented with Excel. The dwarf hair grass also seems to be doing well. All this points to good light intensity for small scale plants commonly used for a small planted tank. Be aware the light bulbs are not replaceable I've seen the replacement light fixture cost about $99. This is not a cheap tank but probably the nicest one I've seen (I have three planted tank set ups). If you are in to planted tanks, this LED light is worth the money and blows away compact fluorescent lights. The shimmering effect of the LED light is also nice I thought it would be overrated, but I have come to enjoy the movement of the light on the tank. I wish all my tanks had that extra pizazz. I have heard others say that for the 9 gallon tank, you will need to buy an extra light fixture ($99) if you really want to grow med/high light plants. Just a fyi.
The filter (which is the same for all tank sizes) works rather efficiently in the 9 gallon tank and is very quiet. It fits conveniently and snug into the back inside corner of the tank which allows for the tank to be placed closer to the wall or in tight spaces if needed. The filter is easy to open or remove for simplified changing of filter media. Although the filter media doesn't need changing very often, its a plus for it to be quick and easy.
The light is bright and reaches all parts of the 9 gallon tank. Plants in need of moderate light can definitely grow in this tank without modification. I have not tried growing plants that need lighting that is more than moderate, so I cannot speak on that behalf. The light can be adjusted back and forth between the metal prongs and is held very securely in place. I imagine that an additional light can be purchased and snapped in place as there is room for more than one light.
The tank is unlike any other because the front corners are completely seamless with rounded edges so that one pane of glass is folded to form the front and sides for optimal viewing. Other frame-less tanks bring together two panes with sealant or bonding liquid which creates less desirable viewing angles. Moreover, this tank comes in a 9 gallon size which gives the marine-life enthusiast more freedom to add to their nano system without taking up the space or surface area that larger tanks require.
The lid that comes with the tank could be improved. It fits nicely and precisely onto the top without distracting the view. However, it does not allow space for additional cords that may be necessary. My heater cord, for example, does not fit with the glass top. For this reason, I leave the glass top off. However, it is true that having a glass top helps reduce temperature fluctuation caused by changes in the outside environment and slows evaporation because it catches the condensation and drips back into the tank.

Right out of the box this is beautiful...a glass 9 gallon tank with rounded corners in front.... I set this up as saltwater with live sand and live rock . I have a black clown goby and a white blenny in there with peppermint shrimp...elephant nose nassarius snail and some bumble bee snails . I have a blue mushroom in there as well...I hide the heater that I added behind the rocks...the filter only has 58 GPH flow so I added an aquaclear 20 to it... The led lighting is amazing . There are a lot of nano tank systems out there but for what you get here ...it cannot be beat...and I lucked out when I bought this at my local fish store for 116 bucks... I purchased the Eheim Aquastyle 9 gallon in December 2011 and set it up in January. Absolutely love the product.Then on June 13, 2012 the LED light stopped working. I contacted Eheim via their online service form and described what happened. They responded and said that they would send a replacement part. After waiting 10 days they did send a replacement LED bulb which did not fix the problem. I measured the output of the 12Vdc power supply for the light and it only reads 1.3 Vdc. So I need a new power supply.
I have tried contacting them on the phone and via email multiple times and no response. Their tech support phone number puts you on hold for 35 minutes then puts you into a voice mailbox system. Their tech support voice mailbox is full, so you can't leave a message. Their tech support has to be the worst that I have had to deal with. In addition, my recent emails get no response.
So now I have a tank full of plants and fish and I have a temporary light setup to keep the plants alive and no resolution for my problem.

I got this aquarium a while ago for freshwater planted aquarium. I truly enjoy every aspect of it. It looks classy, great quality build, extremely quiet filter and the light is intense enough for freshwater planted aquarium. If you want to go reef you can always upgrade the lighting by adding another LED Pod directly to the existing lighting system. The extra LED Pod can be purchased directly from Eheim. I have a 9 month old Boxer who is so strong that I would not take her for walks for fear of one of us being injured. Luckily we have a great yard set up for her where she gets plenty of exercise, but I missed being able to go on walks with her as she grew bigger and stronger.I saw this harness on a dog training show on tv and decided it was worth a try. On the show it was used on a boxer that was even crazier than my dog and it appeared to have an instant effect. I decided it was worth a try. The first walk I took her on made me a believer. I bought this harness for our 6 month old Golden Retriever. On the smallest setting it actually fits! We are excited about that because it certainly will fit her through into adulthood. It is easy to put on and take off. Easy to adjust. Harness has pads around the legs, not the thickest, but should do the job of making her more comfortable. She is still getting used it. But we are happy that she is not being choked around the neck when we take her for walks. She is a big-time puller. I wondered what the big deal about the mesh was. But now I understand because it expands for comfort (there is elastic supporting the mesh from behind). My 7 mos old, 55lb APBT/American Bulldog mix chewed through the clips on his standard clip-style PetSmart harness, so I figured I'd give this one a try. He isn't a puller unless he sees another dog, so I was curious to what effect this harness would have on his pulling.Pros: Fits perfect, seems comfortable when he's not pulling hard, effective training tool to stop pulling.
Cons: When he sees other dogs, he pulls regardless. But the harness squeezes into his ribcage hard enough to cause him to gag and choke, which was a little worrisome. Worse, there is major fraying/cutting of the cord with ring that attaches to leash. This happened within 5 HOURS of use (the cord is cut through 50% in one spot, and about 1/3 of the way through in two other spots).
Summary: I liked the harness for the five hours I used it; however, the tensile strength of the cord that attaches to the leash is compromised enough that I wouldn't trust using it again unless I repair the cord (as any other owner of large bully breeds can probably attest, you don't put your dog into situations where he can come off a leash in public and cause pandemonium, hah.) In the end, I simply bought another standard clip harness from PetSmart for $11, which is pretty much what I would recommend for anyone else.

I bought this to use during the "training process" with my 2yr old Doberman rescue. He came to me completely untrained. Hes 80lbs, I'm 125lbs not a good combination if he wants to get to something. He tends to only pull to get to another dog and occasionally pulled me across someone's yard to see a dog behind a fence. Not fun. While working on regular leash and obedience training I needed something to give me more control of him. I bought this based on other reviews and even if he's lunging to get to another dog, I have complete control over him. It makes walking him and working on heeling a breeze. I have complete control over him with exerting very little energy. I'd definitely recommend to anyone else who loves big dogs but may not be as strong as they are :/
