This feeder works well with chips, but not so well with flake food. The first time I attempted to use it, I used flake food which ended up collecting a lot of moisture, basically turning the food to just a muddy mess.Using the feeder with chips, a bit more solid than the flakes, it works flawlessly. The chips don't collect moisture like the flakes do, and the fish couldn't be happier.
