Finnex Ray2 Aquarium LED Daylight, 18-Inch

Finnex Ray2 Aquarium LED Daylight, 18-InchVery bright with quick on / off, low heat, low electricity use and I'll never have to change expensive bulbs. One issue is the cord length. Not sure why it is so short. It will not reach the floor from the top of a tank on a stand. Really it only gets about 6 inches below my tank...

This light is on my fluval spec 5. The lighting sold with the tank was not enough to support the live plants. I put this light on with a 12 hour photo period and quickly had a massive algae explosion. I've since done a major overhaul of the tank and cut back to 8 hours of light. It's a little early to tell how this is going to work long term, but for now all seems to be going well. This light is BRIGHT. It's sleek and looks great on the tank. Without the lid on the tank, it's a beautiful fit. With the lid, it's a little awkward, but works. If this light proves itself over the next 6 months I would bump this up to a 5 star rating.

These lights are great. very bright. They dont put out much heat which is a bonus as well. The led goes all the way to the ends. Also the price is unbeatable for a quality led product.

I would like to mention that this light will work with tanks that are 20 inches long. I was unable to find a 20 inch Daylight model, so I decided to try this. The light won't be "clamped" on to the tank, but you'll be able to make it work by unscrewing the plastic screws and using those to sit the light on top of the tank.

Finnex lights are the cheapest I've found so far. They provide a high enough PAR rating to support plant life and they're sleek and well built. 7000k is very bright, "cool" colored lighting not for someone who wants something a little "warmer" looking.

No problems so far. :)

I purchased the Finnex Ray2 Dual Daylight for my Fluval Edge 6 gallon and it works perfectly. In combination with the stock LEDs and the Ray2, my tank is covered in light from corner to corner. Anyone looking for additional lighting options for the Fluval Edge should find this to be sufficient. It mounts to the tank very well, and I was surprised at the array of mounting options the legs of the fixture give. The power switch is covered in a waterproof rubberized material for added safety, and the aluminium body is sleek and barley gets warm. My only complaint would be the length of the power cord. Luckily my power source is very close to the tank, but I can see how this could bre problematic in other situations. Overall though, this is a great light, especially if you are keeping aquatic plants! I am very happy with this purchase.
