I use this Alkaline buffer because my city water is very soft, and has a pH level of about 5.8 to 6.0
I need it to be closer to 8.0, with higher KH as well. My KH level is almost non existent, but with the addition of Seachems Alkaline buffer it's raised to 7, which aids in keeping my pH stable over time.
So this product does an excellent job in raising both pH and KH, for fresh water aquariums, and thats great for my fish!
Seachem is both a high quality, and highly trusted name with aquarium keepers all over.
They also make one of the best and safest water conditioners made, it's called "Prime"
It makes your tap water safe for fish by removing heavy metals, it converts ammonia to a non toxic form (great for when a new tank is cycling), and is just very safe.
I've been an aquarium owner and fish keeper for almost 10 years now, and highly recommend both Prime and the Alkaline buffer from Seachem.
I'd also highly recommend the API Freshwater Master Test Kit, for anyone just starting there aquarium.
Plus for newcomers, I really recommend becoming a member to an online community of aquarium keepers for help and tips so your not alone when something bad happens.
Try the Goldfish and Aquarium board, GAB
