I just got my product and I am so excited about it. It is so cute and the rocks and decorations that I am putting in it will just make it that much cuter. there is only one thing that i don't understand about it. It has a glass divider which is great as I have 2 bettas and we know what Betta's do when they are together and there is the divet on the top of the tank to slide the glass divider in and you can see the divet at the bottom of the tank where it is supposed to slide in ther but the glass is on top of the divet so you can access that divet to finish the slide and secure the divider? Kind of weird. It appears that all is sealed so it can't be accessed. If anyone has figured out something that don't know, let me know =) I am hoping that when I put the rocks and water in it that is won't move back and forth all over the place. I didn't want to use gravel, just the marbles but I may have to use gravel if I can't get the divider to stay in place? That is the only thing that I see is a problem, everything else looks great. Can't wait to give my betta's their Valentines present later today.Read Best Reviews of Deep Blue Betta Tank 1 Gallon 2 Way w/Cover & Divider Here

I assumed this would be too small for 2 betta fish but it is perfect. There is plenty of space for them both and they don't bother with each other. Honestly we bought 2 males to see if they would fight through the glass, but they are both calm and because they can see each other they flare up and their colors are so beautiful. I would highly recommend this aquarium!Tetra AquaSafe Water Conditioner with BioExtract

Here's the thing, these water conditioners that have "slime coat" crap in them, the way they work is by BURNING the fish, the irritation induces them to produce their slime coat. I wasn't aware of this, but when I was using it, I noticed that some of my fish would always flash swim rapidly up and down the glass I didn't know if it was them being "excited" to have a water change, no, they were just in pain/stressed.
Anyway, after coming to the end of my bottle in like 1 month's time, I ordered Seachem Safe (powder version of Prime). My fish no longer flash, and it works better, way more cost efficient. Save your money, buy Safe or Prime, both are way better.

Whenever you add new tap water to your aquarium the chemistry of the water changes, these changes can be very harmful to the fish depending on how drastic they are. So it's recommended you do a 10-20% water change every week to your aquarium to help reduce chemicals like ammonia and dilute the nitrites etc. But the tap water also carries harmful chlorine and chloramine.Tetra AquaSafe removes both and enhances the stress coat produced by your fish, thus making it perfect to condition your aquarium. I've had no problems whatsoever with it, and it has greatly improved the overall health of my fish.
I personally don't use it with every water change (although its recommended that you do) but that's usually based on the amt being added and the condition of my tap water.

Previous reviews were helpful. I use it everytime I change the water. The water stays clean for about two weeks easily. It says aquarium for fish but I have been using it for my turtle aquarium and it has worked out fine. The filmy residue does appear but just make sure not to use in excess and it should not be an issue. Also, if you are using this for turtles, frequent baths also help to remove the film from the shell.biOrb & biUbe Aquarium Stand, 14" W X 27" H

One important note however, the photo used doesn't accurately portray what you'll receive.
The upright column is actually a matte gray more akin to PVC than the polished chrome you see in the photo.
The back of the stand is actually composed of two flat black boards, not a solid piece as depicted above. As a result the chords coming down from your tank will be dangling visibly taking away from the slick presentation you're hoping for.
That said, it's still a nice little stand.I paid for functionality, storage, and appearance; I received none of these. Like the 2011 review, what I received is not what is pictured or described. The stand they sent doesn't match that reviewer's description no gray or chrome all black. There is no storage space. The unit is just three planks (only 23" tall instead of the 27 advertised) made of sturdy wood (or maybe wood-like). These assemble in an H formation. There are also two disks to put top and bottom. The disks are not 14" in diameter as specified, but 13.75" and with the beveling there's less than 13" diameter of usable space. It's wobbles easily on carpet, tile, linoleum and hardwood. I will not risk using it for my Hex5 tank which had been it's intended purpose. I might consider putting a one-gallon aquarium on it if I didn't have pets, kids, or anyone who might accidentally brush against it and send my betta to an untimely demise. Good points: it arrived promptly, was easily assembled, is black and round, works well with my decor, and should hopefully support a glass or two, so I can at least use it as an end table. In hindsight that's too much to pay for a cup holder.

I bought this & removed the dividers so it was one large separate enclosure. I had my male betta in it with a tank full of females. He was happy enough while it stayed attached to the side of the tank (all of about 30 minutes). After that, the suction cups came disconnected and females came in while he got out. Luckily I was right there or it could have had a very poor outcome for all the fish. Maybe if you can find a way to keep the suction cups attached it would be worth it. Otherwise, don't waste your money.Read Best Reviews of TOM Aquarium Accessories Betta Security House with Lid - 4 compartments Here

THIS PRODUCT SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A PERMANENT HOME FOR ANY FISH! However, for temporary separation from tankmates without the stress of being removed from the community tank, this product fits the bill!I have been looking for a way to photograph my male guppies without removing them from their tank (thus stressing them and causing their colors to fade) and this is PERFECT for that use! I do recommend removing the "barriers" though, as they are useless and there isn't enough room in each compartment for any fish to be comfortable.
I also used this as a drop tank for my females (with all of the barriers removed, of course!) and it allows the fry to escape from their hungry mothers without confining the female in one of those miserable little "Breeder Nets" that seem to stress the fish. The water flow into the box is great and the slots on the bottom are large enough that food particles, waste and baby fish all fall through easily.
Brand New Marineland Max-Jet 1200 Item #7280

It is very powerful, doesn't make much noise, and my fish love it! (especially rubberlip plecos)
I'm currently using it to drive my homemade water polisher. Here's how to create one yourself using this powerhead:
1. Take a small container such as a plastic yogurt container (keep the lid!), rubbermaid container, etc.. and cut a hole in the top lid so that the end of the powerhead intake will fit inside snugly.
2.Fill the container with polyester batting (can be found in the fabric section of stores). A huge bag costs $3 or less and will last forever!
3. Close the lid and stick the end of the powerhead intake through.
4. Turn it on and you are good to go! It makes your water crystal clear, and it continues to create lots of turbulence. Serves as a dual purpose now! Just change out the polyester batting after it gets really dirty.

I haven't had them long and I make aquarium set ups for customers and friends I used to use Penguinor Aquaclear and they were good. Maxi-Jet is under estimated because no one talks about how awesome
they are. The prices are 40% less then almost every other powerhead, and push more water per hr at
that price so it a good trade, cant comment on how long they last only been using them now for 3
months but I nor my friends have had problems. Just member to use an extra filter on the intake or
clean the impeller every 2 months at min. and yeah awesome product not scam in quality just note
wait for Amazon to "fullfill" there stock and you get cheap or free shipping to save even more money
I rated its a 4 because I don't know the life of them yet and the power of them is rated a 295gph but
at 1ft head, I use them for returns in my sump with 5ft travel and they still run at 245gph and I still
use Ehiem pumps (expensive but the one I got has ran strong for 5yr without any cleaning because I have a
prefilter in the intake so it never gets clogged) so I say EHIEM OR MAXI-Jet are the best pumps so
if you need a good filtration system run two of these and you wont be sorry.
Also f.y.i an okay filtration system should cycle you water 5-7x the aquarium's size, 10gal 50gph
but best ratio I run and water look n smell good you want to drink if you had to is 15-20x, 10gal
at 200gph, you cant go wrong with an extremely high gph filtration system just be safe it dont
leak bc in a slipt second your water will be in the floor and your turtle will be saying WTH!!
Also word for advice use 100ml of carbon per month per 30gal of water being filter, I use Marine-
Land products best filter media money can buy(at cheap prices too)!! Sorry this was long but someone
might find it helpful, so hopefully someone does!! Happy aquarium hobby to all you aquatic persons!!

Moves a whole lot of water and should not be considered for small tanks under 55gal. as splashing may result. A good power head for larger under-gravel filters or foam block bacteriological filtering. Parts are readily available, impeller etc.. One caveat, it appears it is too easy to break off the tabs that secure the impeller assembly rendering the entire device trash.Update after 9 months of use............
The tabs securing the impeller assembly to the head have begun to spread causing the jet direction to change while in use, very frustrating. One one occasion the unit came apart in the tank. I am already looking to find a more durable replacement after just 9 months of use.
Kritter Keeper Round Fish Home

However I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the plastic and the size of the tank itself. It's a very tough strong air tight lid that snaps in a very secure fashion. It's built to be very durable and so far my fish is loving it.
The only bummer is that the lid doesn't leave space for a heater or filter. You have to snip at the plastic mesh on the top to create a hole for your chords to go through, hence why I removed a star. Otherwise I'm really liking it so far. Unique shape, attractive and well built product.I read the measurements, but was still disappointed by its size. I was under the impression that it would be a little less round.

" The small size is an ideal home for Betta Splendens."No, it's not. At all. Do some research before buying a betta (or any fish) and putting it in this death trap. Use it for water changes, maybe, but not as a permanent home! This is a horrible home for a Betta. They need at least a 2.5gal or if you want small a 1.5 if you plan to change the water every day. You need to do research before purchasing any animal. A Betta would die fairly quickly in this home, especially if the water wasn't changed at least daily. The ammonia would build up and kill the fish. DO NOT BUY. Good for water changes though if you are cleaning the main tank and need somewhere to put your Betta.

This is by far the best aquarium kit i've used so far. Ive had it for around 1 month already. The filter and bio wheel do the job with keeping the water clear and ammonia levels close to non-existant, respectively. Fish seem very happy and healthy. I've had this tank for 6 months now, and it's on the kitchen counter (in a corner) with 5 male guppies in it (one inch of fish per gallon) and have a couple of plants also. I set it up quickly and easily, and haven't had any problems with scratches. The light is bright enough to keep the 2 plants healthy as long as I planted them directly under the light which is near the front of the tank. The bio wheel is perfect-just don't rinse it, replace it, or let it dry out-ever. I thoroughly rinse the carbon filter every Saturday with tap water and replace it every month. 1/2 gallon water change every Sat. too (via a tank vacuum to churn up the rocks a bit-while avoiding plant roots). It's a 20 min. job.The only thing I don't like about it is the lid isn't well designed for a kitchen counter with overhead cabinets. I wish the lid was a hinged 2 piece! I can't open it fully on the kitchen counter-even when I pull the whole tank to the counter's edge. (Or, at least they should put an adjustable prop up stick in it. So, I have to unplug everything and take the whole lid off-which is a bit tricky in the kitchen and annoying. They could have put more effort into cord management, too. The cords get pinched in the lid if you don't carefully guide them thru the small holes. My 5 gal dream tank would have those retractable cord roller-upper things in the lid.
But, it looks nice, and the fish & plants are happy.

I have owned this tank for three years now. I originally purchased this tank based on my experience with several of the large Marineland tanks which were phenomenal. The 5-gal system is nice when working, the bio-wheel is unbeatable when it comes to keeping the water conditioned. My three most recurring annoyances which will prevent me from purchasing this same tank to replace mine which has died now:1) The ballast on the light overheats and melts the plastic casing causing a bad smell and concern re: shorting. Marineland replaced once as a defective part, but the replacement had the same problem, and could not be replaced again because of warranty limitations.
2) The acrylic tank is packed into its box without protections, which means it comes out of the box scuffed up, which can never be fixed.
3) As other reviews have pointed out, the lack of a feeding lid is VERY annoying. There is a hinged access lid, but it opens up to the filer, not the water surface.
Sad that Marineland ditched its usual quality on this system.

I tried to find Abuliton genus information but all I kept finding were references to cannabis bushes the leaves on this abuliton are similar to the cannabis plant there's no denying it but since they are fake and silk, there's no danger. I first found one bag in my local fish store in the reptile section and figured I'd give it a shot for my tropical freshwater aquarium as a background plant but first I emailed Hagen company to hear it from them that it was safe for use in water with fish and they confirmed that it was. So I soaked them in a bucket of water conditioned with Prime and added them to my tank. I love it! I bought 4 more and they are very natural looking and hide all my equipment and tubing and provide hiding places for my fish. I highly recommend these. Exo-Terra by Hagen also come in Ficus, Ruscus, Mandarin and Amapallo.************************
update April 2010: These have been great for our Aquarium, and over time with some algae to them, they look pretty good. They don't fray as much as other silk plants do and only now after all this time are they showing signs of slight fraying the only problem is our plecos are constantly un-sticking them from the glass lol my advise is if you're just setting up your tank and it is dry still, place these where you want them and then, silicon the suction cup in that position so that they no longer move if you have sucker-mouth fish or large active tank busters. So if live plants are not for you for w/e reason, I do recommend these.

I was ready to send this back but once installed into my 20 gallon tall it actually looks great. A few quality issues so it only deserves 3 stars. The plant could use some more leaves to help cover the linking plastic. The suction cup is just okay, and I've already had it fall from the side. The back part by the suction cup is ugly so it needs to be suctioned to the back. I did have some metal wire exposed at the top by the suction cup and had to fix it. This does cover most of the back of my tank and my fish seem to be happy and playing through the leaves.Make sure to rinse and soak before adding to your tank.

Coralife 05692 Pure-Flo II 50-Gallon Per Day 4 Stage RO/DI System

RO filter is awesome.
Amazon is awesome.
This unit does not have a pump but works as advertised (get a gallon of 100% pure as in measured TDS of 0 water in about 30 minutes).I have been using this product for 3 weeks. So far, I've made about 100 gallons of RO/DI water for my marine aquarium, and my only regret is not purchasing an DR/DI filter years ago. I just hook it up to my kitchen sink faucet. There was no need for crazy plumbing projects. I am a little bit concerned about the longevity of the filtering system. The initial batch came out at about 8 parts-per-million total-dissolved solids (ppm TDS), but I'm already up to 15 ppm. However, this is still a pretty low TDS, and I might even be contaminating it just by measuring or something, so I'm not too concerned yet. I do have a couple tips that might make your choice-of-purchase or set-up easier.
1) Unless you plan on installing some kind holding tank and auto-shut off, this filter takes time. Remember, 50 gallons per day is only about 2 gallons per hour. If you don't think you have the patience for that, consider upgrading to a higher GPD.
2) I read some reviews of RO filters that costumers were unhappy because the filtered water was acidic and/or made metal parts rust very quickly. This is not a flaw in the filter this means it's working. RO/DI water has much less dissolved materials than most tap water. Without getting into the chemistry, this means that (1) when the water come to equilibration with the carbon dioxide in the air, it will be acidic, and (2) it will tend to oxidize (rust) metals that it comes in contact with.I use my filtered water to make home-made soda and ice cubes, but I think drinking the RO water straight is pretty gross it just tastes awful to me. I've also heard it can be unhealthy, but I don't have much info on that.
3) This filter works under rather high pressure, so there is a good chance that connections will leak. When you are assembling it, I recommend getting some teflon thread tape from the plumbing section of your hardware store. Wrap the tape tightly 2-3 times around the threads before fitting the connections to tighten everything up an prevent leaks.
4) I had trouble installing the RO cartridge. The cartridge housing is not see-through, so I couldn't tell if I was installing it correctly or not. I could not tell if it was assembled correctly until I had it completely assembled to test it. But you should be able to tell if it is working by the amount of water it is producing; when working correctly, you should be producing clean water at only a trickle (~50 GPD). If you set up the filter and are getting a high flow from the product [blue] tube, you can probably assume the RO cartridge is not installed correctly. (Also, you can check the TDS if you have a meter.) It took me about four tries to get the RO cartridge installed correctly. The thing was, it needed to be pushed very hard into the fitting. The resistance was so high that I was afraid to break it.
5) Many of the fitting on the unit come pre-assembled. A couple of connections on my unit initially leaked just a bit. You may need to unscrew them, wrap some teflon tape around the threads and reinstall. After I took the time to do that, my unit was 100% leak-free.
6) The unit comes with an adapter that should allow you to use it with a standard sink, but installing the adapter takes a few minutes or more, and is kind of a hassle. Also, the adapter is a pretty cheap plastic, so it's prone to leaking and liable to get chewed up if you're not careful installing it every time. I alleviated this issue my permanently replacing the head of my sink faucet with one that I can directly screw the filter on to; this only cost about $3. I did not have to replace the whole faucet, but the very end has outside threads like a garden-hose connection. This has made connecting and disconnecting the filter much more convenient.
Also, be aware that if you have a decorative sink faucet, the adapter might not work. You might have to be creative in installation. I live in an apartment, so I can't do any really involved plumbing projects; however, if I were in a house, I think it would be worth the effort to set the filter up with a holding tank and float valve, so that I there is always an available supply of filtered water.
7) I also purchased TDS meter (HM Digital TDS-EZ Water Quality TDS Tester), and was glad that I did. It is very convenient to be able to test and see how your unit is working. My tap water comes out around 500 ppm. My filtered water has been coming out between 5 and 15 ppm. Since I can check the TDS any time I want, it will be much easier to figure out when my filter needs to be back-washed or replaced.

Well I've been running this unit for about 6 months now. I've probably made about 700 gallons of water. I have to say, it's a bit concerning of how long it takes to reach sub 10ppm now. I would love to have 0ppm but this unit hasn't done that since the first week of operation. I'm doing good if I can get it down to 6 after about an hour of operation. This unit is okay for the cost, just don't expect it to be awesome.

Marina Betta Kit Decorative Gravel, Black

It would be in creating a new home space consisting of only black and white elements. That way, he explained, everything happening outside his tank... the television, the people walking by, the birds flying by the living room window would be explosions of rich colorful life not marred by the fake rocks currently in his tank. Life for him would be one rich palette happening all around him. Dubious about whether or not this would really work or if it would become one more thing my fish became bored with in the weeks or months ahead I pulled out my credit card and ordered him these rocks. "You'll see" he told me, "this is the start of a brand new life... for the both of us!".
Just two days later the new rocks arrived and I placed them in his tank. Ever since then he has taken to writing poetry, practicing his back flips and I never hear a single complaint. Every once in awhile, with a smug look on his face, he'll talk about how all the other fish in the neighborhood are jealous of his remodel. Had I known these black rocks were the solution to all of our problems I would have purchased them months ago.

Its better to buy this in a brick and mortar store. The "gravel" are barely just above grains of sand. Makes cleaning the take a pain because I have to worry about losing them each time. You can get a bag, of the same gravel, from walmart, that is 5 times the size, for the same price. It's a TINY bag of gravel. This product is for the smallest fishbowls, and/or making your own colored gravel assortments. I mixed mine in with the big bag of gravel that I got from walmart and it looks alright. I have a 5 gallon tank, and the gravel from walmart was just nearly enough to cover the bottom, but not enough to hold down the plants. This helped a little, but I'm sorely disappointed in myself for spending money on this.Zoo Med African Mopani Wood Jumbo

Currently sitting on the bottom of my fish tank(150 gal). The fish I have seem to like it. My catfish made a burrow underneath it in the sand. So it's doing its job.I ordered the Large along with this Jumbo sized Mopani. The Jumbo wasn't much larger than the Large but quite a bit heavier. Both very beautiful pieces of wood. Just remember to either boil the wood for a few hours or soaking in water for a few weeks if you are using it in a aquarium. It'll leach tannin's into the water making it darker. Boiling and soaking prior to tank use will still not stop it from leaching but at least it will shorten the time before it stops doing it.Ridiculously large, beautiful piece of wood. Discolored the water in my turtle's tank, but that was to be expected with any Mopani wood. Could not be happier.Marina ThermoSensor In-Out Thermometer

This description is wrong or poorly worded. The device only provides 1 temperature! I'm guessing what it means is it can be used for either inside or outside your aquarium. This is still a great product however, just don't expect to have both temperature reading for your room and inside your aquarium.I've owned this for a couple months so far and it appears to work well up till this point. I have a temp gun which I used to check the reading this was telling me. They matched up well. Between the price and how accurate it is thus far it is worth it. I use it to read the temperature between egg flats, so the temp gun won't work for that application.

29/37 aquarium stand for my Aqueon 37 gallon aquarium.
This stand will also accomodate a 20 long aquarium which has the same footprint as the 29 and 37 gallon aquariums.
This stand will also support smaller aquariums which have up to or less than a 12" depth and 30" length, and which weigh less that 400 lbs.
This stand has held up well over the past three years, supporting the weight of my Aqueon 37 along with about 30 lbs of sand. Since the sand displaces the weight of an equivalent number of gallons of water, the total weight of this tank including its frame is just North of a 400 lbs.
The AQ has done its job of holding this aquarium up for the past three years, even through a mild earthquake that we had here in the Northeastern part of the United States in August of 2011.
I have since broken the 37 gallon down and will be replacing it with a Mr. Aqua 17.4 gallon acrylic rimless aquarium to house a school of Rasbora Harlequins and some dwarf hairgrass and microsword plantings which will now be sitting atop the AQ 29/37.
My only criticism of the AQ 29/37 is that when the powder coating gets wet, the water can oftentimes seep underneath the powdercoat, which results in its bubbling.
While Aquatic Fundamentals warns not to get the stand wet, it is nearly impossible not to do so from time to time.
Moreover, it is unrealistic for a manufacturer of aquarium products not to recognize that a product which is used around water is going to get wet from time to time; regardless of how careful the user of the product is.
And while I have found no structurally weakened areas of my AQ 29/37 as a result of this, Aquatic Fundamentals should address this concern, given that it mars what is an otherwise fine product which is sold at a competitive price.
As for price, for those who purchase an AQ 29/37 online, I have also noticed the substantial price increase in the AQ 29/37 since I purchased mine in 2010. With shipping, the price now approaches $180, when I paid about $106 for mine including shipping. That is quite an increase in price over a period of slightly less than 3 years; the higher shipping costs making up most of the increase.
In summary, I find that this is a well made piece of aquatic furniture with excellent structural rigidity. Now if Aquatic Fundamentals can only use a fully waterproof coating, this product would be representative of the truly ideal aquarium stand. To be honest I didn't expect much for $99, I was pleasantly surprised when I received the box. Assembly was easy and parts all fit like a glove. The stand is actually nice enough to place adjacent to the entrance of our front door. I definitely would buy again.

This is a heavy piece of furniture that is strong and stable. I have my 20 gallon aquarium on it (it's made to hold up to 30 gallons or so) and it looks fantastic! The quality is rock solid and although it does not have a shelf inside, it does have a door (the middle panel opens) and storage space inside. You can even use those Command 3M hooks on there to hang fishnets or your gravel cleaner. Worth every penny I paid for it!Read Best Reviews of Aquatic Fundamentals 29/37 Gallon Upright Aquarium Stand Here
