AquaTop Aquarium Fish Net 7" - Flexible FN7M- Medium Hole Mesh

I am sure the net is a good net, my issue is how it's presented. They call it a 7" net. The package states, "net dimensions 9.8x8". I am confused. I wanted a net that would fit in a 9" hole, so I bought the 7". The net holder (metal square) is 10 1/2 x 8. Why is it called a 7"!

A sturdy net. I bought this to have a flexible ended net to skim the bottom of a small pond. Also has survived the kid's abuse.
