It contains enough nodes for one application. 3.5 ozs is not much. Still you need them if you buy into the Fluval system.
This package contains enough nodes for one change. I've heard from comments not to change the media all at once.
My origional media has lasted over a year without any degradation. It's not an expensive item that needs to be replaced all the time so considering the small size of the package it's not a deal breaker.
