Seachem Cupramine Copper 250ml

Seachem Cupramine Copper 250mli used super saver shipping to recieve this item. it came in a timely manner but when i opened it, i found the bottle had leaked because the cap was not screwed on tightly. this product does not come with a safety seal. i am guessing about a teaspoon leaked out because of what was left. the product is blue so it is very obvious that it leaked.

my fish are not sick atm so my review does not reflect the product itself. the 3 star review is only because the bottle cap was loose during shipping and i lost some product. is tightening the bottle cap too much to ask if you get free shipping? luckily the item it was shipped with was enclosed in plastic. the leak could have ruined the other item if it was something like clothes or paper.

Set up a hospital tank for my fish and followed the directions on the bottle. I did have 1 fatality, but I think the Ich was too far into him for rescue. Everyone else treated was cured.

Broke the full dose up into 4 doses instead of 2 and it is working great so far. My fish seem to be tolerating it well and they are still eating and acting like normal. Testing the levels with the seachem test kit and the readings are spot on.

Bottle says add 16 drops to 10.5 gallons. Website says add 20 drops to 10.5 gallons. I understand that the company can not relable the product already out there but Amazon should update the product description or add a note of some sort.

Cupramine is a highly effective copper based treatment for Ich -a truly aweful disease that was about to wipe out all the goldfish and Koi in my tank. It's a large tank and I appreciated that it takes so little of this treatment. It's very economical which is important because with Ich the whole tank must be treated, not just the fish so you cannot use a small hospital tank unless you are willing to keep the fish in the hospital for many weeks (the parasites will eventually die in the display tank without treatment if there are no fish for them to infect but it takes a while to be sure). You can see the fish do not like the medicine. After the first half dose two smaller Koi died from the treatment (ironically they had been doing best against the Ich before that). I was quite worried about what would happen after the second dose was added, but there were no further fatalities even after the second dose though the fish were lethartic and stopped or slowed eating. Obviously they felt sick. But once the Ich was gone (it takes a few weeks for all parasites to enter their vulnerable life phase), I started the water changes and all the fish bounced back. Cupramine is strong medicine for a bad disease. It's not to be used lightly but effective if you need it and very reasonable in cost even for large tanks. A side benefit is it's tough on algae.
