I use these as specified for the C4 H.O.B. filter by Fluval, they provide adequate space for the beneficial bacteria to grow & flourish.

I did not go wrong when I switched to Fluval filters. I am in hopes of raising Blue angel fish and a good filter is a must.

Bought these not knowing how long one lasts (the place i bought my filter from stopped carrying them and i didn't want to have to need one and not have it.)
