EHEIM JAGER HEATER 17" 250WATT

EHEIM JAGER HEATER 17' 250WATTI bought one of these heaters during the summer as my last one must have corroded and was sending shocks into my sump. I should have tried it out sooner, but it was summer and I had no need for a heater in my tank. So, I finally took it out and figured it was a good time to calibrate it.

Anyway, this particular heater is the worst one I've ever had. I have tried to calibrate it for 2 days and the darn thing just won't shut off. Right now I have it in a 5 gallon tank (for calibration purposes), fully submerged, just to see if I can get a baseline from which to adjust the heater.

Well, no go. The heater has the tank at 88.3 degrees, and no matter what I do with the dials, it will not shut off...I expect to see it go over 90 degrees...are you kidding me?

I would not buy a Jager...period. I'm going with another brand as I would like to have a heater that actually works. Save yourself the headache and get a heater that is more or less calibrated when you buy it. Also, get one that you can adjust to go on and off to make sure it will actually work.

Avoid this brand...it's a total piece of...junk...

I can't say enough good things about this inexpensive heater. It's very accurate, and total quality.

I've been using this during the winters for 2 years now without any issues. My similarly priced previous heaters all died within the first year, or became incredibly inaccurate.

Go with Eheim, you wont regret it

Not only is this heater easy on the eyes, it is extremely reliable.

The settings are simple to use, and stay put unless you want to adjust the temperature.

I love the option to lay it horizontally, so the heat comes up in a wall,

without effecting the thermostat.

While this heater is extremely long (17") in some aquariums you may have to lay it on its side to fit. That being said, "set it and forget it" is the norm for Jager. You may read a few, and I mean a very few, bad reviews, but like anything and any product there may be some that dont work correctly. Considering more professions use this compared to other brands its no shock that they outsell all others. Ive used these in discus tanks where water temp is important and have had no problems with them in 15 years of use. You get what you pay for!
