Aquatic Ultra Sun Bulb

Aquatic Ultra Sun Bulb Size: 15'The light that came with my fixture was a zoo med Flora Sun. That bulb has way too much red and not enough blue. So, I got the Ultra Sun Super Daylight. Yikes, it looks awful. I'm not sure what it's purpose is, but it makes my tank look ugly and sterile. There is so little red it's baffling. It's supposed to have a CRI of 98 (A CRI of 100 is the way things look in real sunglight). I don't know who rated that, but they must have been bribed. After a minute my eyes were hurting. I'm going to return this tomorrow. I'm going to go with a Coralife Colormax bulb instead.

I use one of these T-8 bulbs along with 2 Flora-Sun T-8 bulbs just to complete the light spectrum of what's necessary for plants to grow. I own an All Glass Triple Strip fixture. I'm running 85 watts for a 46 gallon tank. I'm also running aNutrafin CO2 Natural Plant System With CO2 Activator & Stabilizer Nutrafin A7690 I've been using these bulbs for about 3 years. These bulbs last a long time. I've replaced them once just because I felt guilty about using the same bulbs for so long. The plants were still growing, but I wanted to put in new bulbs just to make sure the plants were given the optimum amount of light. I highly recommend ZooMed bulbs.

I have my office plants sitting directly under this bulb. They're doing quite well. I don't think it would work well more than 8" away from the plants
