I have used the Hagen/Fluval carbon products and not really impressed by it, I prefer a different brand when it comes to carbon & charcoal.

Very happy with the whole C4 filter. Don't seem to see any water chemistry change with these carbon filters versus the standard filter. Will be going back to the standard filters and water changes. DO follow directions and rinse this before putting into tank! I was in a hurry and was not thinking and put the filter in without rinsing it. Instant black cloud. Fortunately no ill effects. Seem to be last quite awhile.
