It works as a nice replacement for the everyday florescent light fixture that comes with most aquarium kits.The T5 lights that come with this unit are great! they really do make my fish and plants pop with color!
My main complaint are the wire legs, they are very flimsy and I wouldn't count on them holding up the fixture. But that is not a problem since I just let it rest on my old canopy top. I might try a glass top later(like the packaging recommend) to get a bit more light, but the canopy works for now.
I can't say a a whole lot about this unit because I've only had it for a couple days, but so far so good.
Overall a great deal for the price, but I wish the unit wasn't so "plasticy"
