OSI Marine Lab Mountain with Trees Large Aquarium Ornaments
Dimensions are 17.7" * 8.7" * 11.2.
Still looks fantastic in my 20 gallon tank.
I think this is a beautiful well made product for the price which is a great value.
I put it in my 45 Gallon Tank.
My only caveat is that if you have fish that like to hide, like my pleco, you will only see them at feeding time.
That is why I took the ornament out and saving it for a 65 gallon tank that I am getting in the near future with fish that will swim through it but will not hide all the time.

Seachem Cupramine Copper 250ml
my fish are not sick atm so my review does not reflect the product itself. the 3 star review is only because the bottle cap was loose during shipping and i lost some product. is tightening the bottle cap too much to ask if you get free shipping? luckily the item it was shipped with was enclosed in plastic. the leak could have ruined the other item if it was something like clothes or paper.Set up a hospital tank for my fish and followed the directions on the bottle. I did have 1 fatality, but I think the Ich was too far into him for rescue. Everyone else treated was cured.
Buy Seachem Cupramine Copper 250ml Now
Broke the full dose up into 4 doses instead of 2 and it is working great so far. My fish seem to be tolerating it well and they are still eating and acting like normal. Testing the levels with the seachem test kit and the readings are spot on.Bottle says add 16 drops to 10.5 gallons. Website says add 20 drops to 10.5 gallons. I understand that the company can not relable the product already out there but Amazon should update the product description or add a note of some sort.Cupramine is a highly effective copper based treatment for Ich -a truly aweful disease that was about to wipe out all the goldfish and Koi in my tank. It's a large tank and I appreciated that it takes so little of this treatment. It's very economical which is important because with Ich the whole tank must be treated, not just the fish so you cannot use a small hospital tank unless you are willing to keep the fish in the hospital for many weeks (the parasites will eventually die in the display tank without treatment if there are no fish for them to infect but it takes a while to be sure). You can see the fish do not like the medicine. After the first half dose two smaller Koi died from the treatment (ironically they had been doing best against the Ich before that). I was quite worried about what would happen after the second dose was added, but there were no further fatalities even after the second dose though the fish were lethartic and stopped or slowed eating. Obviously they felt sick. But once the Ich was gone (it takes a few weeks for all parasites to enter their vulnerable life phase), I started the water changes and all the fish bounced back. Cupramine is strong medicine for a bad disease. It's not to be used lightly but effective if you need it and very reasonable in cost even for large tanks. A side benefit is it's tough on algae.Friday, August 29, 2014

Perfecto Manufacturing APF33020 Glass Canopy Aquarium, 2.5-Gallon
It is the perfect size for the 2.5 Gallon Marineland Aquarium (11.5'' x 5.5'')! Fit like a glove.
You can tell that it is cut by another manufacture because the edges are a little rough (my original glass canopy made by Marineland had smoother straighter edges), but I didn't find this to be a problem. The glass canopy still looks excellent. Certainly much better than a taped together one.
And as a plus it comes with a clear plastic handle (about 2'' x 0.75'' x 0.5'') that sticks to the glass. But beware, once you but the handle on it won't come off. It is pretty much permanent. I like the handle, though, because it makes it easier to lift the top to feed the fish and clean the tank. Not to mention it is clear so it blends in well, and isn't an eye soar.
Now, lets just hope I don't break this one too.

Fluval Telescopic Shrimp Net
Buy Fluval Telescopic Shrimp Net Now
I primarily purchased this for my neocaridina and cardina shrimp tank. I've also used it for small fish. I would have given this five stars but the materials and netting could've been a little more study. For example, a "3D" netting would have been nice that if they used a more rigid net material, the net would stay open instead off collapse when you pull the shrimp out of the water. These shrimp nets exists, but they're more expensive. So for this Fluval net being the best buy I have no regrets. Highly recommended for you shrimp keepers.Catching shrimp can be a real hassle with a regular net due to their small size and fast reflexes. I have yet to run into any issues netting shrimp with this net. Definitely makes one aspect of keeping and breeding shrimp easier! This is a great product to recommend to people who has shrimps! Excellent shrimp net to catch them little ones!Thursday, August 7, 2014

This thing struggles when it gets cold to keep the temperature in my 15 gallon about 70. Temperature in my garage is about 45. Dont buy this for anything bigger than a 10.The Hagen Elite heater was purchased partially based on a fair review from Amazon(4 stars with 9 reviews). I followed the instructions and set the heater at 79F. The final temperature was +88F and was recorded with two different thermometers. That is not acceptable and the product was returned. I will give the Hydor Theo a try. Sorry Hagen.Sunday, June 8, 2014
Aquatic Fundamentals 10/20 Gallon Aquarium Stand with Shelf
Tank ~40 lbs
Salt Water (16g @ 8.556 lbs/g) = ~137 lbs
Live Rock (Approx 1-2 lbs per gallon) = ~16 lbs
Live Sand (Approx 1 lb per gallon) = 16 lbs
209 lbs and that isn't including equipment needed to run the tank.
If you were to go with a fresh water tank at 20 gallons you are at 167 lbs with just water. Just a heads up.
Don't get me wrong here. I think the stand looks nice. I didn't put it together to avoid wasting my time (which I guess is moot now that I have to return it), so if you intend to use this for a 10 gallon tank, I'm sure the stand will look great and function well. The shelves look like they are coated in a nice finish as well. Unfortunately, this won't work for me. I REALLY wish I had known what this sticker said BEFORE I ordered it.I shopped around for an aquarium stand and found a lot of expensive items that I didn't really like. I wanted something simple, not a giant piece of furniture. And I wanted something easy to assemble. This stand is sturdy, it looks nice, and it took 20 minutes to put together. Our aquarium is a 10 gallon tank, but it would accommodate a 20 gallon as well. There just wouldn't be any space around the edges of the top shelf.
My only (small) complaint is that the threads on one of the leg pieces were messed up so it was very hard to put one of the screws in. But that was probably just on the one I got and not a universal problem.
What else can I say? I like it a lot, it was exactly what I was looking for and it was a lot less expensive than the other aquarium stands I researched.

This product was easy to assemble (took about 20 minutes with no tools needed). Once built, it is very sturdy. I have used for both 10 & 20 gallon standard tank & fits great. However, a 20 gallon long does not fit. I placed baskets on the bottom 2 shelves and it hides all the food & equipment very well. The only complaint I have is that is a little to short (stands ~3 feet tall).Read Best Reviews of Aquatic Fundamentals 10/20 Gallon Aquarium Stand with Shelf Here
Almost everything about this stand is perfect for me. It's simple, inexpensive, not too large and very sturdy. My only complaint is that it is not completely waterproof. I spilled a bit of water on it during a water change and it created a couple of small welts. Its not very noticeable though so I don't really mind. I highly recommend this stand for smaller aquariums!! :)Want Aquatic Fundamentals 10/20 Gallon Aquarium Stand with Shelf Discount?
There's room on top of this stand for our 10 gallon tank, the food, and a small lamp for the sofa next to it. The relatives eager to put this together (including a 10 year old) started with the shelves in the wrong order and ended up making a permanent mark on the eventual top shelf from columns screwed in too tightly. They thought the instructions were a little confusing. Anyway, I think it's nice and sturdy and well balanced with weight on top. Good value for the price.Thursday, May 22, 2014
SeaView Aquarium Background Mounting Solution
I bought this mounting solution to adhere a stunning background River Rock/Sea of Green Reversible Background 24"to my son's new fish tank, a gift for his eighth birthday.
PROS
PRODUCT DELIVERS: Amps the background picture significantly: picture appears more believable, and the colors super bright. I don't think the background would give the same effect by my simply taping the background to the back of the tank.
MARKET MONOPOLY: The only product I know of out there like it
EASY APPLICATION: I expected a gooey, overly-sticky consistency, sort of like wallpaper paste or contact paper adhesive and braced myself for the torture of applying it, but its texture is not sticky at all, really: it's almost like a liquid silicone. I had no problem smearing it on the background and it wasn't so sticky that it stuck together or tried to stick folds of the aquarium background together.
Does not produce the toil and agony that super-sticky contact paper inflicts.
CONS
BEWARE OF THE BUBBLES!: This cost it a star on its rating. While the consistency is not bad, the challenge is fighting those tricky little air bubbles. Unfortunately, I did not see the bubbles until I had the ENTIRE tank filled and installed, complete with decorations, LED spotlights, filter tubes positioned, and a super-cool volcano positioned and installed with suction cups. There needs to be a warning about that somewhere in the product info, like: WARNING: THE BUBBLES ARE NOT VISIBLE UNTIL THE TANK IS LIT.
And I didn't just slap the adhesive on there, either. I carefully applied the gel and I used a squeegee to firmly press all the bubbles out like the directions suggest. It looked great--without the lights on. I filled the tank and put it all together, turned on the LED hood light and bam! a swarm of little black air bubbles appeared.
The bubbles aren't permanent; you can work them out toward the edges. However, it IS tedious and not so easy to work them out, especially when you have to contort yourself around to the back of a filled tank.
Exhausted from putting an entire fish tank together, I worked out the largest bubbles, but left the smaller ones until the next time I change the tank. They kind of give the illusion of little shadows of fish swimming deep in the water anyways, and the bubbles aren't so obvious that they obscure or ruin the view of the background. It is just annoying because I know they are there.
Would I buy this product again? Yeah, it's worth the money. It's the only product out there like it, and made the tank look way more bright, and believable. Cool product.I have tried this product several times and I always start getting streaks in a couple of days. I have even changed backgrounds and could not keep it smooth. After some research I switched over to an adhesive background

This product works as advertised so I gave it 3 stars. I'm pretty sure its just mineral oil or something similar. I used mineral oil on a second tank and it performed the job just as well. The mineral oil cost me $4 for a pint which makes this product 16x more expensive.Read Best Reviews of SeaView Aquarium Background Mounting Solution Here
I was a little skeptical when I received this item, but this stuff is GREAT! I first taped my background to the aquarium to ensure I got the exact size I needed and was bummed that it looked extremely DULL. Once I got the gel applied and the background in place, I was amazed at how brilliant the aquarium looked. I did not find Sea View difficult to apply in the least. It did take a little time to smooth the air bubbles, but with the aquarium light on, it was very easy to see which areas needed work from behind without having to go to the front repeatedly to check where I needed to smooth next. I used a plastic ruler and kept a rag handy to wipe the gel that came out around the edges as I smoothed the background out. I am very satisfied with the end result. I did not have any trouble with the background coming off, but I did follow the instructions and rolled my background the opposite direction it was curling (and left it for a few hours) to ensure it was flat and ready to apply. The gel is odorless and wipes up easily. Would buy again and again =) The picture on the package was exactly what my aquarium looked like before and after.Want SeaView Aquarium Background Mounting Solution Discount?
If there is a Petco near you check it out first. Their price (at least here in FL) was $4.99. Didn't see this product the first time I went there to look for it, but they had it there yesterday and felt foolish for paying over $8.00 (well, to be fair, that included 2-day UPS shipping). The product itself was decent; did the job, not overly messy and not overly easy, either (squeezing out bubbles with a ruler and cleaning up ooze from the product around the tank was expected, but took me longer than I had anticipated). My suggestion is to try using mineral (or olive?) oil, as someone previously suggested, first, or some alternative with that type of viscosity.
My tank's background is about 36" x 18" and there was enough to adhere it to my tank, but *very* little left over (one-time use only). If/when I decide to switch out the background, I'll have to buy another tube, but again, I think I'd try a less expensive alternative first and see how that goes.

Aqueon AQE40200 T5 Dual Strip Lighting Hoods for Aquarium, 24-Inch
The T5 lights that come with this unit are great! they really do make my fish and plants pop with color!
My main complaint are the wire legs, they are very flimsy and I wouldn't count on them holding up the fixture. But that is not a problem since I just let it rest on my old canopy top. I might try a glass top later(like the packaging recommend) to get a bit more light, but the canopy works for now.
I can't say a a whole lot about this unit because I've only had it for a couple days, but so far so good.
Overall a great deal for the price, but I wish the unit wasn't so "plasticy"

Rena SmartHeater Aquarium Heater, 50W
With the plastic exterior, your pets can never get burnt from this heater. If you have a Rena filter, combined you can connect with this heater and warm up the water through the hollowed center. For $20, this heater is a steal.I recently got the Rena Smartheater after a couple episodes of burnt fish from my old, conventional glass tube heater.
No, they were literally burnt to a crisp, but certain types of fish like to rest on available perches in any given tank. Even if your tank is well planted with many available hiding places and good sized leaves like mine is, chances are your fish at some point will come to "rest" on or in the space between the heater and the glass side of the tank that the heater is adhered to.
Bettas and loaches in particular like to take a rest from the filter current, especially if they can do so near the top of the tank to grab air now and again.
I could see spots where the fish received these burns and I felt bad as soon as I realized that these burns must be coming from their contact with the heater.
And though the most inexpensive way to heat a small 5-20 gallon tank is to use the cheap, standard glass tube stick-on-side heaters, I don't like them for this reason alone.
I researched on the internet and found that the Rena appears to be just about the only hang-on-side aquarium tank heater that does not have an exposed heat source on which fish can burn themselves. It seems to heat by some sort of internal heat convection in which water is drawn up through the slats on the bottom and expelled gently, imperceptibly through the top. The top hole itself glows red when the heater is on and shuts off when the heater is not actively heating to show you that it is working.
It seems to do the job well, keeping my tank's temperature apparently stable. And it is built quite robustly, with better build quality and more solidness than the glass tube heaters that I have previously tried.
Fish burning themselves on an exposed heating element is not as uncommon as you would think. The Rena heaters aren't inexpensive, but they do the job safely, which is reason enough to recommend it.
Buy Rena SmartHeater Aquarium Heater, 50W Now
I really like the innovative concept behind the way this heater integrates with the Rena SmartFilter as an alternate for the filter intake tube. This heater design would seem to present less danger of a hot element coming into contact with one of the tank dwellers and would also seem to be less fragile/susceptible to damage as compared to the typical stand-alone glass tube heaters. I docked the product one star for concerns over long-term reliability of these units simce I've had to replace these more often than other stand-alone glass heater units I've used in the past. However, the fact that I'm still using these despite the occasional need for replacement says something for how much I like this innovative design. If you've got a Rena SmartFilter already, I'd recommend giving these a try to see what you think. Otherwise, I'd have to say that buying a Rena SmartFilter just to be able to make use of this heater might be a poor decision due to other deficiencies inherent in the SmartFilter design... that is, unless they've updated the SmartFilter design since the ones I purchased. If you'd like to know more about my concerns/experiences regarding my Rena SmartFilter products, take a look at my other reviews which include a review of the Rena SmartFilter 30 product (of which I presently own/use two).Read Best Reviews of Rena SmartHeater Aquarium Heater, 50W Here
After killing a tank full of goldfish, I've been really careful about the tropical fish that replaced them. I am almost to the point of paranoid about conditions in the tank. The heater that came with the aquarium didn't seem to be doing a good job, so after researching heaters, I purchased the Rena SmartHeater. It has really taken the worry out of my concern for the temperature. It keeps it at exactly what I set it at. I bought the 50W because it was recommended in one article I read, for 20gal. But another article said you should get 100W for 20gal. So we'll see who's right. But so far, 50W is working fine. This works as a great heater, but doesn't hook up that well as an intake. It seemed to have gotten lose, and on of my fish get sucked up into the filter motor. It could have been user error, but just make sure you really check it out and have goo extra tubbing before using it as a intake with smaller fish.Friday, February 7, 2014

Buy KONG Denim Kickeroo Catnip Toy Now
I bought 3 of these toys for a household of 8 cats with claws. After several months of heavy use (i.e. kicking), the part where the tail is attached is falling apart. I also really wish the denim material was tougher, as it is not "jeans" denim but more of a soft, thin material. Despite this, so far the tail is the only part that has gotten torn. I suspect it can be re-sewn fairly easily, but I was hoping it would last longer.During the months the cats got to use it, they absolutely loved it! The pouch for catnip is a great feature, and they had a great time licking and chewing at it without any catnip falling out. Some of the other cats simply enjoy using this as a pillow.
