This is an attractive carrier, but the primary zipper completely broke down after only 10 or 12 uses. While there are many nice features about this carrier, I wouldn't recommend it if you need to transport a pet that may try to escape, since the zipper seems to be of low quality and not durable. We had to duct tape the opening shut the last time we used the carrier, but will need to buy a new one soon.

Bought the small carrier for my son's rabbit (a relatively small rabbit, around 5 pounds). It fit the rabbit well, and would also be a good size for a very small dog or small cat. Nice padded bottom, high quality vinyl, and good ventilation, but I'll get another brand, as I can't afford to keep buying new carriers every few months.

Tetra Fauna Viquarium

The description sounds great. We got it set up and running without much effort. However, there are some features we really don't like about it. One the filtration is so-so. Water can run UNDER that filter unit instead of through the filter cartridges. The water flow through the filter cartridges is VERY SLOW. It took much longer than I think it should have to get the water clear after adding our cleaned gravel.

What I consider a serious design flaw is my biggest gripe. We have fire belly toads in our setup. They can crawl through the space where the river bed exits the waterfall tower. And, since our tower has a manufacturing defect, there's a hole in the inside wall of the unit. One of our toads, of course, worked his way in to this hole (which is underwater, by the way) and couldn't get back out. We had to dismantle the ENTIRE thing to empty the water out of the base, pull it up, and retrieve the toad. What this meant was that we had to remove the other toads, scoop out all the waterbed gravel AND the course gravel from the land side which meant destroying our carefully built live-moss landscape. Then, as a two person-and-many-swear-word-job, everything had to be carefully put back into place (difficult because you can't let any gravel get under either piece or they don't work right), try and rebuild our mossy ground cover and re-plant our live plants, and then add back the toads plus more water.

Our fix to prevent this happening again was to place 4 cottonballs at the corners inside the tower unit to prevent toads from working their way into the tower again. So far so good, but I can't imagine what you'd do if you had a small amphibian!

Finally, even though the filtration base makes a really tight fit against the sides of the terrarium, all sorts of debris gets sucked up against the rubber seals I assume this means some water is also flowing beside the filter box instead of through it. Regardless, it's unsightly because there's this vertical line of debris right in the middle of the front of the terrarium glass that I can't reach to clean.

Also, there's no way to easily clean the gravel bed in the land area. I am interested to see if this proves to be a problem or not. The water portion is easy to clean you just siphon it like you would in an aquarium.

I wanter to see my daugter's pet turtle on land for once and thought this waterfall/stream setup might entice him to come out of the pool. Setup was easy and unit has worked flawlessly for several months now.

I put his basking light right over one of the flat "rocks" that covers a filter. The turtle now comes out and basks laying on his rock something I had never seen him doing. Unexpectedly he also "plays" in the stream I think he is searching for food but its quite amusing to see him moving shells around with his head. If threatened by a noise or movement he uses the stream as a water slide to jet himself back down into his pool.

The water quality has been good I change out some every week but it has stayed clear and clean looking. The waterfall and stream have increased evaporation of water so I am adding more water then I used to.

Overall this new setup for our tutle has worked out very well. If a turtle can be said to look happy, then our turtle is happy. His behaviors seem much more natural and he acts more curious now.

I bought this as an upgrade for the one that was in my tank. It is certainly an amazing upgrade!!! However, there absolutely no possible way that this is intended for use by frogs! I had to put a lot of time and money "frog proofing" this product before I even dare to put it in the tank. With a lot of hot glue and nylon screen, I finally was able to put it in the tank. It works wonders! I definitely suggest this product to people with pets over about 4 inches in diameter, or a turtle (I don't think the hard shell could squeeze through the 1.5 inch gaps)

It was easy to set up and it looks great! However, after having it for 2 months algae started growing on the waterfall portion. I was used to cleaning out the water every 2 weeks, so I was surprised that so much algae was growing. I went ahead and emptied everything out and completely cleaned it out instead of just using the gravel vacuum. Everything looked fine again, but then the algae came back just after a few days. I'm not sure it it's the filtration that is not working like it's supposed to, but for the price I was expecting it to work like a charm, and it didn't. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have time to empty it out for a thorough cleaning every week.

Our next door neighbor recently moved out and somehow left his turtle behind. We found him (a Red Eared Slider)walking around in our back yard in late November.

Our 12 year old son was so excited and curious about this turtle that we had to adopt him. We named him "Toodie" and I must admit I fell in love with him too. Having had turtles and fish and all kinds of pets in the past but none now, I wanted to give him a good home and also teach my son how to properly care for and the importance of the "how to and whys" of making the proper habitat for reptiles. So, we started out with just a five gallon tank, filter, hood kit to see how "Toodie" would do and how our son would like caring for him. "Toodie" liked the 5 gallon aquarium but soon it was obvious that the tank was too small. So after a couple of hours of research on-line, we moved up to a 20 gallon "turtle-quarium" kit that included the proper lighting, basking area, filter, etc.

Then about a week later I asked a sales specialist at our local Petco store what I could do in order to make the turtle's tank as realistic as possible, making it part aqua and part land environment and he suggested the Tetra-Fauna Viquarium.

So I bought the Tetra-Fauna Viquarium as a family gift for Christmas. It is very well made and well designed. Fortunately, it is NOT made out of cheap plastic...it is made of a heavy clay type material which adds great realism to the unit. The way the clay is molded looks totally realistic, just as you may see a small river waterfall with rocks in a real jungle/tropical area. It fit perfectly in the corner of our 20 gallon tank and because the instructions are simple and well written, I had it set up and running within about 20 minutes. I have had this set up and running in our tank now for about 10 days and the built-in, hidden filtration system is quiet, effective and runs extremely well. The waterfall flow and realism is totally awesome and adds tremendous aesthetic realism, beauty and quality to the turtle's environmental safety and naturalism. Most importantly, "Toodie" just loves it! He climbs up on the top of the waterfall and slides down in to the water below and sometimes basks on top of either one of the two "towers" formed by the clay molding.

I think it was originally priced at over $100.00 but it is a great deal at a lower price here on Amazon.com. For the money, this is a totally worthwhile investment in your turtle's habitat and we have had numerous compliments on the tank by friends and family over the holidays!

The Viquarium unit also give you some design flexibility to your tank; it comes with a nice artificial plant fixtures that looks totally real and also a waterfall "extension" to lengthen the waterfall slide if you wish. The unit is also easy to clean and easy to change the filters. The unit uses two filters that are inexpensive to buy and replace through Amazon.com or your local pet store.

The item is pretty much exactly as described and what you see. I decided on this for the over all effect I was hoping it would have with the background I choose. Very natural green plants and rock background.

The fish love swimming through the log chasing each other or simply enjoying it and several at a time. Different types together as well. Currently after one or two days of having it I am extremely happy with it.

The item was well packaged considering, although as mentioned otherwise, leaves were bent upon arrival. I managed to unbend some but was glad to see this did not detract too much when in the tank.

Definitely recommended if you want something more natural and for fish to be happy. I have a 10 gallon tank and this fits nicely at one end at an angle from the front right corner to not quite the middle of the back part of the tank. Perhaps I may be able to update this further later on. Do note there is another similar version I think smaller on Amazon if you want something slightly different.

and it looks great in my 55 gallon freshwater tank. There are several ways in/out and its big enough for my fat/lazy 7" pleco to get in, but if my rainbow shark gets there first, pleco is out of luck :) My smaller fish ( a variety of tetras) love darting in/out.

This is great. It is a hollow log with silk plants. It fits perfectly in my 5.5 gallon betta aquarium without overwhelming it. The medium gray goes well with my Top Fin polished pebbles gravel. My betta likes to swim through its various holes and takes a nap in there from time to time. My snail spends a lot of the day in there, too. I don't like a lot of stuff in my aquariums. This log in the middle of the aquarium with its silk plants on each end look fine to me. My only reason for not leaving a 5 star rating is that two of the plant leaves were creased and don't look right. Other than that it would get a perfect rating from me. It's worth every penny I spent on it and I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

UPDATE: After having this in my freshwater tank for a couple of months the paint has started to flake off of the rock. Even if the paint is safe in the aquarium I don't want it being eaten by fish or clogging up my filters. I'm going to remove this rock from the tank and replace it with natural rock or wood.

I've used this sand twice for a 12g reef tank, and then most recently, with a 34g reef upgrade. Both times I have not experienced any livestock deaths due to new tank syndrome (but granted first time around I let everything sit for about 3 days with cured live rock, and second time around I moved everything over from my existing tank).

For my second purchase there was some floating debris in the sand, which was a little annoying, but after running the pumps for a day, everything cleared up and I was able to remove all of the debris from the mechanical filters along with doing some manual scooping with a net. I guess this is expected from live/natural sand.

I love this product. I bought it because it was aesthetically beautiful and had great reviews, and I didn't let me down! The soft leaves are not only beautiful and natural looking, but they do not tear at my fragile betta's fins like many other artificial plants of inferior quality. I have a regular cube aquarium that is 1.5g with a single delta tail betta (Merman), and I will say that even a small grass ring is quite large. It fills a huge chunk of the middle, so if you have a tiny tank (smaller than 1.5g), I wouldn't recommend it. (I'm upgrading to a 6 gallon and mixing this decor with real plants so it won't be a problem). I shoved some sand over the bottom to make it appear like it was growing out of the sand. I really like that it is weighted in a ceramic ring there's not risk of it floating up and destroying the illusion of a real plant. Another huge plus of having this biOrb grass ring is that it is hollow in the middle, obviously because it is meant to fit over the air filter tube of a biOrb. In my non-biOrb tank, the hollow middle part serves as a very ingenious "cave" that my betta loves hanging out in, and sleeping in. It is so thick with hair grass that you can't see the hollow in the middle imagine my initial surprise when I was looking for Merman and he was nowhere to be found! Eventually he came lazily swimming out of his new hang out in the middle of the hair grass, it was hilarious. He adores it.

As a tip, it is definitely worth it to gently bend the leaves while doing that first rinse, so that they end up spreading outwards in the tank. It looks much more natural that way, and your fish will love swimming in and out of the leaves. The only con is that this is really expensive by fake aquarium plant standards, but the quality and fun of it all is priceless.

And, since they're from China, soak and rinse carefully before putting in tanks. PROS: I was impressed by their quality. They don't quite pass for real anomenoes up close but actually look much realer than most of the colored plants now selling. They sink easily and sit stably on the bottoms. After 1-2 months submerged, they are as bright as the day they first went in. Can't beat it for the money, IMO.

I ordered the large and the medium caves for my new 30 gal freshwater aquarium. They are nice and light compared to real rock and look great in the tank.

When I first put them in they released a ton of very small bubbles for several minutes which made me freak out a little bit.

The fish love them and spend time going in and out. I even put some live plants in a few of the holes and they look great! Very happy with these caves and will probably get more in the future.

I really like how this cave has three holes in it, it's fun to watch the fish swim in one and out another. It looks very realistic and is a quality made product. It is quite large I have it in a 10 gallon and it takes up almost half the tank. I put a picture in customer pictures.

Aquarium Biogarden 18" Small Aquarium Aquaponics System

Most of the materials are HDPE plastic, which is what you want for something that affects your food supply... if you intend to grow a vegetable garden. However, there's a PVC pipe attached to this as well, so be aware of exposing to heat. The product arrived a little late and because it's made of recycled material, it smelled out of the box. Once washed, it should be fine. There's a pump that came along with it. Unfortunately, it had a prop 65 warning on it. I ended up buying another one without the warning. I didn't think to go to the wholesaler first, but you may want to do that and just get the grow bed without the pump and buy your pump separately. The grow bed itself was a bit pricy, but for those who aren't that handy, it's nice to have a pre-made set up.

I read mixed reviews so I thought I would share my experience. I've had the tank up and running for a week and I'm very happy. It's a salt water tank. I just put a damsel in to help cycle the tank. In a couple weeks I'm going to add some mushrooms. The key is to do a simple water change once a week and make sure you add carbon and Rowa every so often to absorb any toxins. The LED is functioning properly and the filtration is excellent so far. I'd rather have faster moving water rather than an under powered pump. Cal Pump SPW10 1200GPH Max Flow Rate Spillway, 10-Inch

The Cal Pump SPW10 Spillway works good with a good flow rate and pushes the water out about a foot. I installed a small pond with a preformed triangle liner about a 100 gal. I needed a small spillway less than 12" to fit in. This works great where I wanted to put it. I used the 1" connector supplied and used 1" corrugated tubing I purchased locally.

The problem was with the filter. It was cut short slightly on the sides and wouldn't stay in it's slot. The water would push it forward to the opening and tend to rise and eventually come out. To correct this, I bought a piece of Matala black filter media and cut it so it is snug in the spillway. The supplied filter was more dense so I also used it behind the Matala. Now, they stay where they should. It it been about 3 weeks now and all is working great.

I've been looking for a good quality heater with temp control for my 2.5 gallon for over a year... I finally saw the 25W Cobalt heater (which is a higher wattage then I was looking for) for almost $50 and almost passed on it. I am so glad I didn't! Though it's a snug fit for my little 2.5 gallon, the heater is super slim and is only 6.5" long and fits in the aquarium at a slight angle, which is fine as the minimum water level is the top of the bezel (the round dial).

I've only had this heater for two days, but it raised the temp in my tank from it's usual 72-74°F (with 10W Marineland heater) to 78°F within a few hours and only fluctuated about 1/2° overnight when we turn the heat off in the house. I couldn't be happier and will definitely update my review should anything go wrong.

I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS HEATER FOR 2.5 GALLON TANKS!

When I set up my new tank, I had ridiculously high ammonia levels. Due to a bit of overstocking no doubt. I lost my biggest beautiful Denison Barb because of it. So before I lost all of them, I decided to try the Zeo-Carb instead of the pure ammonia, since I like to have carbon as a filter media. Well, this stuff worked like a charm. Tetra 77184 Algae Control, 3.38-Ounce, 100-ml

Before this I tried everything they recommend. No matter what I tried frequent to daily water changes, low-to-no light, remove plants, less food nothing worked. From the front of the 10 gallon tank it was impossible to see the plants and ceramics a third of the way back. I haven't been able to find the algae eater in weeks.

As a last resort, I bought this. The directions indicate 1ml for every 12 gallons. By that reckoning, this is well more than hundred doses for a 10 gallon tank. I don't have anything that can measure 1ml, so I gave it one good squirt and walked away.

It's probably worth noting that the directions also say to take your activated-charcoal filter out. Presumably that's because it will neutralize the stuff. Since I couldn't measure properly and didn't want to poison my fish, I didn't take mine out.

It's crystal-clear in there now. I mean GORGEOUS.

Still no sign of the algae eater... odd.

Boy, was I surprised to read the horror stories in the other reviews. So far, my fish look happy and my plants haven't died. If that changes, I'll come back and say so. Till then, I've got to say it's amazing.

EDIT: Just read one of the other reviews a little more carefully. She said she used three capfuls in her tank.

This bottle is intended to treat 1,200 gallons. Three capfuls is roughly a third of the bottle. Unless her tank is larger than 400 gallons, it's no wonder the fish are dying.

I bought this product many months ago for my 46 gallon tank, where I have an increasing problem with hair algae. I hesitated to use it, partly because of all of the warnings against using chemicals found in all the sites that have to do with aquarium care. But even after doing things such as changing to under gravel fertilizers, upping the frequency of my water changes and adding a carbon dioxide injector to my planted tank, the situation has only gotten worse. So before I tried this treatment, I looked for all of the reviews I could find on the web. As you know, if you're reading this, there aren't many. The ones that were overly glowing I almost immediately dismissed, since I couldn't be sure if they weren't put there by the manufacturer. The overly negative ones, claiming 98% kill of fish, left me afraid to try the stuff. Anyway, last night, I bit the bullet and dosed my tank according to manufacturer's directions.

This morning, about 15 hours after I dosed the tank, all of my fish are alive and well. My plants, on which I have spent a considerable sum of money, appear unchanged. Unfortunately, so does the hair algae! In going back over the reviews, I noticed that those who wrote glowing reviews had green water problems, they weren't dealing with hair algae. Unlike them, I did not awake this morning to find my tank magically rid of hair algae. Nor did I find a plethora of dead snails, which I would have found very welcome.

Will I try this product again? It's a question at the moment. While it doesn't seem to do any harm, I can't be sure if it actually does any good. At least, not when one is dealing with a problem with hair algae. Does it need more time? Do I need to repeat the application? These are questions to which I have no answer at the moment. However, given the scarcity of reviews on this product, I thought I should put my own two cents in.

By the way, for those who don't have the ability to measure milliliters, the directions also tell you that you can use one drop per gallon. I counted drops into a measuring device that I have that gives me milliliters, and the drop system is accurate.

My 20G long that I use to grow out cichids was getting crazy algae. Water change twice a week didn't cut it, LED was on 8 hrs, not strong enough to promote algae growth. So I knew I need to get some algae medicine for my tank. After reading this review and the API one, I found out many people have the same problem about their fish dying using BOTH product. I was iffy but I just had to try.

Read the instruction before using it! It says something like '10mL for every 12G, use once every 3 days, 3 times max. If you want to continue treatment, you must do water change'. Simple enough. When in doubt, underdose it but don't overdose because you don't want your fish to die.

So after I added in the stuff, the water cleared up in front of my eyes. I couldn't believe it! I sat down in front of my tank for half an hour, admiring the crystal clear water (something I haven't done in months).

Review title really tells you everything you need to know. I have been lucky in my tank maintaining years not to have had much experience with algae. Once a big green bloom hit me, I needed something inexpensive and powerful to help me get rid of the stuff that scrubbing didn't tackle. This product requires only one drop per gallon and with two treatments my problem was eliminated. The treatment loosened up the stuff I wasn't getting clean with a brush alone. Wait a day and brush afterwards and voila, clean tank! As stated in directions, be sure to remove tank filter for six to eight hours after treatment. I did not return filter media until I got the whole problem taken care of.

I figured the price wasn't too bad, so what harm could it do? The worst that could happen is that I'd be out $2 or whatever, so I gave it a go... I have to say, this stuff is a MIRACLE! Within 30 minutes the water in my fish tank began noticeably clearing and within an hour or so my entire 5 gal. tank was looking brand new again! I have never been so pleased with a fish product in my life, but this stuff is AMAZING! Would definitely recommend this to anyone with a cloudy water problem!

I was using Seachem Neutral Regulator (NR) to bring my pH of 8.4 down to something closer to 7.0. I had added an incorrect amount of alkaline buffer to bring up a crashing 20 gallon freshwater aquarium and shot my pH up to 8.4. Doing water changes did very little to reduce the pH has my GH and KH were very high. Seachem NR precipitates calcium and magnesium to help soften the water and also buffers the pH. In doing so, the aquarium water will turn cloudy from all the calcium being precipitated out. I do not have a water polishing filter pad to remove the very fine particles of calcium. I purchased the AP Crystal Clear product in hopes that it would allow the particles of calcium to clump into larger particles that my filter could handle.

I am happy to report that after 12 hours my water as just about cleared up and I do not see much of the calcium particles in the water. My HOB pre-filter sponge has captured a good amount of the calcium after adding the AP Crystal Clear as well as the main foam filter.

The product worked well for me and I am happy with it.

Of all the tank water clearers I have used, I have found this one works the best. However make sure you read the directions. You see it tells you to use one drop per gallon but, to use two drops per gallon if the water is very cloudy. I have found using more than one drop per gallon works better without any effects on my fish, crab, pleco, frogs or snails (although the snails do close up when the drops are near them.) All in all, I buy this every few weeks to use along side weekly cleanings for my 20 gallon tank.

I've tried this product not only on my tank but on friends' tanks as well. All this does is...NOTHING. After using this product I see a red tint on my filters but hey! my water is still cloudy. Don't waste your time or money!

Laguna PowerJet 2400 Electronic Fountain Pump Kit

I just purchased the PowerJet 2400 and the pump cage was improperly assembled at the factory. The top was forced during assembly and broke a hole in the top of the cage. I spoke with a Laguna (Hagen) representative who expected me to ship the unit to them and they would decide the course of action. This is completely unacceptable as I need a pump now. Their attitude of "the customer is wrong until proven right" is not one I care to do business with. I expect to receive a non-defective product whenever I buy something and sure do not expect to pay freight to return their defective product to them.

10/18/2010 I patched up the broken portion and have been using this pump continuously for almost 2 years and it has functioned perfectly. The small holes in the cage do plug up with algae growing on the screen and in some particularly heavy growth periods it has to be cleaned frequently. I have compared several pumps and this is the lowest wattage pump for the flow rate I have found. Actual measurements even taking consideration of the power factor it draws only 83 Watts. I am completely satisfied with the pump and am considering another only this time the Max Flo pump for the larger holes in the cage.

I chose this pump because it is the direct replacement for the one I replaced in my small fish pond. The price was the best I found by far and I received the pump sooner than was expected.

This is one of the prettiest plants I have for my fish tank and I have been washing it in oxyclean and reusing it for over 5 years. The only thing at all wrong with it is the little leave "pods" can come off their plastic "branches" but they snap back on. I love this plant and have been looking for it to replace the one I have since over time mine has lost a few of the leaves (down the drain when cleaning, etc.) But it does really lend a nice look to the tank and its great for the fish to hide in as it stays near the floor of the tank. We have used it in 50 gallon tanks and currently a 10 gallon tank, and I love it. One of my favorites.

Gets the job done. There is a newer version of this product by Top Fin that includes suction cups, which allow you to anchor the hatchery to your tank wall.

In terms of isolating fry from ravenous adults... this product is only so-so. If you have any sort of predatory fish in your tank that are capable of sucking, fry will be instantly gobbled up through the slots on the side (narrow enough to prevent them from swimming out of the hatchery, but not narrow enough to prevent them from being eaten by outside fish).

A good option for isolating injured or aggressive adult fish (the separators are easy to add/remove).

This worked exactly as advertised. The momma gave birth, and the babies were able to get under cover where she couldn't reach them. I think the only thing that was an issue for me was that I wanted to transfer the babies to a hanging net to mature in since I have other pregnant fish. The slits on the side of the hatchery (to let water in) was also where water would drain out if I tried pulling the hatchery up to move the babies. I had to cover the side with my hand so the water wouldn't seep out, and then moved the babies to their new hanging net home. Minor issue. My 90+ black mollie babies are happy their mom didn't eat them.
