This does the same thing as the charcoal with a lot less mess. It is a pain to have to remove the charcoal packet every time I put in an algae treatment. I just set up a new aquarium and for some reason the algae has been very difficult control. Correction, it has been out of control but I'm winning the battle. I recommend these and believe you will like them too.

Have not used them yet but arrived as expected. Have read about ceramic rings and their usefulness for maintaining helpful bacteria in aquarium filtration. Will update after having used them.

biOrb Knock Down Stand - Black

to much money for this small table this is not strong for the price

I paid $27.61 for this stand from amazon.com brand new. It is the Executive Wooden Stand from Reef One (biOrb) that retails from $85 to $99. I am giving it 3 stars mainly for the low price offered by amazon.com. For that price ($27.61) it is a great little stand. But if you pay anything over $30 for this stand, you are getting ripped off.

There's not much to the stand at all. There are no compartments for you to put any supplies in. The stand feels cheaply made. However, putting it together took minutes and was easy despite lack of good intructions.

Overall, I am pleased at getting it for such a low price. I didn't want to spend alot on a stand because starting a new aquarium can be pricey and for me, the stand was low on the list of important things I needed. I would not recommend this stand for anything less than $30. You're better off buying a nice wooden stand for under $99 that you can actually put supplies and all in and would probably be a bit more sturdier.

I bought a used MH light for my modified 29 gal BioCube and didn't know how old the bulb that came with it really was. I tried a Phoenix bulb which was VERY blue. My corals didn't seem to like it at all and my green bubble tip anemone was very unhappy. This Coral Life bulb is much better tolerated and it seems to provide the corals the light they like. Decent price but the packaging was not adequate at all. It came shipped in a small padded envelope. I would have thought a box would be better for a light bulb.

One other note , on the label is says "made in china" cheep for a reason !

I saw this product here on Amazon and was initially skeptical on how good it would actually be, but I am happy to report that it works just as good as the name brand products in my Fluval 306. There was no excessive carbon powder, the carbon was uniform in size and absorbed water just like the expensive brands. I will definitely buy this product again!

This pump has taken care of all that, with air to spare. As for sound, it is a touch louder than the two household pumps, but not too bad at all. If you're growing in a living space, such as your bedroom or living room, it's probably too loud. But if your grow area is in your basement or a closet, you'll never notice it. I highly recommend this pump for DWC. **** The brass air outlet is NOT standard aquarium air line size, it's a size up but the deal comes with a 6" piece of hose and the gang valve that DOES reduce down to standard airline size. I bought this for my koi pond, the heat here in the summer is pretty intense and I felt the fish would benefit from some extra oxygen! I first tested it inside. When I turned it on it sounded like a freight train! Of course my first thought was this is not going to be good!! However once I got it all installed outside the noise was minimal. Between the filter, the water falls, the birds singing etc you could not hear it. It really is powefful and my fish love it, they love hanging out in all the bubbles. The air stone is 6 inches in diameter and works very well.IT DOES NOT COME WITH THE AIR STONE YOU MUST PURCHASE THE STONE SEPERATELY.

I purchased a small plastic container melted a hole for the tubing and another for the power cord and enclsoed the pump inside the container so it will not become wet. It also comes with a bar that has 5 ports on it so you can hook up several air stones at at time if you wish.

I agree with the high quality. I have one that has been on constantly for 4 months now and it does get hot but no soo hot u cant touch it. It has not given any problems, it aerates multiple ponds with strong constant pressure ( although mine is a bit higher in L/hr). I am just looking for a second for another product and ran across this and felt like I should write a positive review. I was pleasantly surprised to feel some weight and finally a product that wasn't made a plastic and look like it can take some abuse. I do worry it will break but they have kits to fix them so that is another plus. I would never go back to a dual plastic Mr. cheapo model when they make these things look like they are a car part from a 1970's era hot rod. They look indestructible, the metal is solid. A bit noisy on a wooden board or i imagine cement but i think that bad characteristic is a well worth trade off.

I am upgrading after having this for roughly two years. Frankly, it's a piece of junk. I have to adjust the air intake daily and clean the pre-filter every three days in order for it to even skim. Even when I get it skimming it only skims for maybe 24 hours. Did I mention that the drop down for hanging broke within the first year (big crack that dripped through my wood floors) so I was forced to make it in-sump? I would NOT recommend this skimmer to anyone unless you're merely looking to swirl large bubbles around a cylinder. Drop the dime on a heavy duty skimmer and you won't watch your water quality slowly decline as I did. Also, buy big, as you really can't over-skim.

Purchased this item regardless the negative reviews for my fish only 120 gallon tank, and I do not regret it one bit. Having previously returned a skimmer I bought from Amazon ( the no name cheapie from China) that did nothing but produce a plethora of micro bubbles and was damn near impossible to adjust to do anything but; I got this one because while it's still on the budget, it's a brand name. This thing does not dissapoint. Took a few days to get going, but once it did the tank cleared up and the water quality improved. Also it was easy as pie to assemble and install, and cleaning is a breeze. Is it the best out there, for $100 of course not, but it does what its supposed to do and it does it well. Unless you have a reef tank, this skimmer will perform admirably, especially when combined with ample filtration. Buy this thing and save a few hundred bucks.

I've used many Marineland products for over 25 years on my freshwater tanks (their Magnum canister filters are excellent) and while I'm sure they make many other great products, the SeaClone Protein Skimmer ain't one of them. The problem inherent with this product is you are CONSTANTLY and FOREVER adjusting the air intake valve (and the air valve they supply is crummy--I had to replace that with something more accurate). When it's working properly, it works fairly well, but compared to say, a Remora Protein Skimmer, it doesn't work THAT well really. I'd estimate it worked properly 45 to 50 percent of the time, but when you have tons of money invested in a reef aquarium, you want something that will work properly and efficiently. I understand some rework can be done on the unit to enhance it's performance, but really, while it's not the most expensive skimmer out there, why should one have to go to all that trouble? Save your money and for another $65, you can get yourself a Remora Pro Protein Skimmer that is practically maintenance free and starts working almost from the day you plug it in.

We had to upgrade our protein skimmer when we upgraded our tank. We went from a 75 gallon tank with a 100 gallon SeaClone to a 125 gallon tank that needed the 150 gallon skimmer. I love this squirt however, the little hole is just barely big enough to suck up thawed brine shrimp. I guess I didn't realize it's only best for fluid-based food only. In any case, it does suck up thawed brine and I can spot feed our gobies, corals and our anemone... the Gobie quickly figured out that there was FOOD on a stick and tends to attack the tip at feeding time. It won't suck up foods as large as frozen mysis (which was my only disappointment and lack of 5 stars since the description isn't clear) It's a great invention and totally beats the turkey baster feeding method!

I use this to spot feed mysis shrimp to my corals and some fish. Sometimes I have an issue with the mysis not fitting thru the tiny hole in the end of the seasquirt. That is the only downside to this. Otherwise its a great tool thats adjustable to whatever length you could possibly need for a tank.

Like others, I felt the hole was too small. But before i got too mad and broke it over my knee i decided to try making the hole just a little bigger by using a small drill bit and a cordless drill. It worked!! I used a drill bit that was just a tad bit bigger then the existing hole. Wasn't too hard to do and it worked well. Now i can suck up thawed frozen foods much better with no clogs.

I'm still not completely happy with this product although i am still using it. I feel like it never really gets clean because i hate taking it apart to really clean it after every use. Sometimes i feel it's a bit too big with too many parts. I have a 72g bow front and it is more then long enough for a tank that size.

It definitely does the job though and i haven't found anything better.

Mammoth Squeakies Dog Nylon Large Squeak Toy

My 1 year old Boston Terrier Riley loved the Squeaky Freaks Nylon Dog Toy... we called him "red dog" but unfortunately red dog didn't hold up to the heavy chewing as his nylon covering was easily shredded. We tossed the toy a couple of weeks ago and are still finding strands in the carpet. Riley wasn't happy about us tossing red dog and tried repeatedly to save the toy from the trash, but we were concerned about the stuffing and strands that were coming off of the toy. It's a shame.

I purchased this toy for my 8 month Lab hoping that the nylon material will be durable and strong. I also liked the idea of multiple squeakers, one even made a "quaking" noise. The dog really liked the squeaks too and the size was good, not too big or too small to carry around. But within 10 minutes she chewed off the tail and once the tail was gone she was able to get to the stuffing in another 10 minutes. Out came the squeakers and the stuffing and the toy was history. Although the quality seemed ok, this toy is not "Lab proof" and my money was gone in 20 minutes. Do not recommend for bigger dogs or "chewers".

I bought the small dog toy for my husky, who loves squeaky toys. She can be slightly tough on toys, so I was hoping that the nylon toy would stand up to her. However, after 10 minutes of playing, stuffing was already coming out.

I checked the toy to see if was just a bit of faulty stitching that I could fix six seams had completly opened up and the nylon fabric had frayed to the trash!

Though my dog can be slightly destructive to toys, she's not one of those "eat a Kong toy in 10 minutes" kind of dog. I anticipated that this toy would probably be destroyed, but was expecting it to last at least a few months.

Though I'm tempted to give it one star, I'll give it two stars for dog enjoyment. For the 10 minutes my dog had it, she was in doggie heaven! I wish it was more durable I was sad that I had to take it away from her.

Impeller for Mag 3600 Pumps

The one thing I would be careful about is this. I had pulled the old impeller out several days prior to getting the new one. I forgot how strong the magnet is in this impeller. When I went to put this new one in, as I got it close to the hole in the motor where it is to be installed the magnet pulled it right out of my hand and into the slot. It did it so fast that I thought for sure it must have damaged the new impeller. Well I pulled the impeller back out to inspect it. I found that it had indeed taken a small chip out of the rear spindle. It did not look like it would affect it functionally so I re-installed it. It has been working fine and I think it will continue to do so. Just be aware of how strong this magnet is and be careful.

I bought this volcano to put in a fish tank, a gift to my son on his eighth birthday. I wanted something cool and I got it.

At first I was a little hesitant about the price, but it is well worth it: it is a water feature/light/aerator/decoration all in one product.

I'd do pros and cons but I can't find one thing I don't like about this volcano.

The red LED light goes inside the volcano, which has small, see-through slits in it that are waterproof. The slits allow the red LED light to shine through, giving the effect that the volcano is full of lava, but it does not allow the bubbles to creep out of the cracks. The bubbles only come out of the top as the volcano erupts into thousands of strong, even bubbles.

The aerator actually works inside the tank, something I found really different. The little pump actually sits inside the volcano, along with the LED spotlight. They both fit in there, no problem. It comes with black tubing and a bunch of little black suctions that you can use to arrange the lines wherever you want in the tank. The LED light is high-quality, and buying one light by itself is nearly as much as this whole volcano set up, so this volcano is well worth the money.

The aerator makes TONS of bubbles, so strong and effortlessly. All those bubbles oxygenate the tank wonderfully, energizing the fish, another added benefit of this product.

The hood on my son's new tank has the option of turning on only white or only blue LEDs. When we turn on the blue LEDs the tank turns dark with deep midnight blue undertones. The Red LEDs of the volcano look super-hot and molten. The bubbles are lit with the red LED and then disappear into the blue.

It looks like a volcano is erupting in ice-cold water. Fire and Ice--a super cool combo for my lil' man.

I found an old 10 gallon aquarium in storage and my son decided he wanted fish. It would have been cheaper to go out and buy a new kit, but then I would still have an extra tank. I wanted to find him something unique for is tank and also could work as a night light. I came across this and passed because of the price. I thought about it for awhile and decided to go with it. My biggest concern was it would be to big for a 10gal tank. I even measured but still was not sure. When I finally got it and got it in tank it takes a back corner of his tank. It does not look bad or oversized at all. The little suction cup cable guides that came with it are great. It takes three cables to run this thing(2 power, 1 air). I ran the cables behind the heater and used the suction cups to hold them in place. It has now been 5 months and the suction cups are still holding strong. The air intake is also adjustable making it nice so you do not have to many bubbles. The red LED is nice. The volcano is designed to let some light thru the sides and most out the top. It gives that corner of his room a nice red glow without being to bright. It looks nice in dark or daylight. In my opinion it is just the right size for a 10 gal tank. I think it might be to small in a 20 gallon or bigger unless it was part of a whole theme.

I love this volcano aquarium decoration. It was very easy to assemble and install and works great. I've had it in the tank for about 2 1/2 months now and still works great I haven't noticed any reduction in air flow and even though I have it mounted a bit deeper than 18 inches, probably 20 inches or so and it still works great and I keep the air control valve fully open at all times to compensate for this.

The only thing I've noticed is that unfortunately LED's DO promote algae growth and I've had to wipe the lens off a few times but a Q-tip works well for this. No big deal. If you seem to notice a reduction in light output, check the lens for algae buildup.

However I wish the LED had an on/off switch. The only way to shut it off is to unplug it.

Got the job done for my diy wet/dry trickle filter/sump powerful flow, works great have been running it for months and it works great!

Pump works great and is not noisy at all if you use the rubber suction cup "feet" and keep away from the side of the sump. HOWEVER, right now I have a ton of microbubbles...not sure why, i will be trying a few things to remedy that issue. I will update this review based on how it turns out

If your looking for a pump that will be pumping the water upwards meaning max head for a sump system go to the pumps website first wether it be this brand or another and check first because you could save some money if your attaching a hose that will need to go 4ft straight up to the aquarium. This pump that says 1300 gph or say the Catalina 2200, 3000 or 6000 which say different gph, some more, some less but if you need to pump water 4 ft straight up to your aquarium these end up pumping pretty close to the same amount of water.

Cal Pump SPW10 1200GPH Max Flow Rate Spillway, 10-Inch

The Cal Pump SPW10 Spillway works good with a good flow rate and pushes the water out about a foot. I installed a small pond with a preformed triangle liner about a 100 gal. I needed a small spillway less than 12" to fit in. This works great where I wanted to put it. I used the 1" connector supplied and used 1" corrugated tubing I purchased locally.

The problem was with the filter. It was cut short slightly on the sides and wouldn't stay in it's slot. The water would push it forward to the opening and tend to rise and eventually come out. To correct this, I bought a piece of Matala black filter media and cut it so it is snug in the spillway. The supplied filter was more dense so I also used it behind the Matala. Now, they stay where they should. It it been about 3 weeks now and all is working great.

At that point the guy got rude and told me they "they weren't going to just ship out an expensive piece of equipment to me and if I considered my filter to be so important that I should own a backup."

I wish I could recommend this product, but having it fail in under two months and then being told I should have bought two is just unacceptable. I wish I would have read the other reviews first...

Emailed customer service to which the only answer was mail in unit at my shipping cost both direction and they'd 'fix' unit. When I asked for a unit to be sent to me upfront since this was in a working aquarium got the runaround. Called and got same result with the 'you should always have a backup pump'..... no I should have bought a product that works and is reliable. Will never buy another RENA project again.

what a major difference between this filter and any other fish tank filter I have ever used ... I read all the other reviews every 1 posted on this and figured i would take a chance and im glad i did ....the only bad thing i can say is the plastic flippers that level the filter on the back bottom are a joke like other ppl said in there reviews no big deal rip up a small peace of cardboard problem solved ... the quietest filter iv ever used and i do fish tanks for a living ... the box filter setup is very smart and very well thought out the price of the filters are up there but u can get replacements at petsmart ...it moves a lot of water and because the spillway is 12 inch wide it puts a lot of o2 in the water it took about 4 days for the filter to set up and the milk to go away

..if this filter holds up I will get 10 to 15 more and suggest them to my clients ..if it takes a dump on me I will post that in my review .... take it from a pro this filter is far better then anything out there

has became noise and very hard to restart i would not buy another 1 until Rena updates this and fixes whats wrong with it ...its a real shame because its a sound idea works good the flow could be better im sure it would cost them all of 15 cents to fix the problems with this and put on the package new and improved next time i need new filters i will be putting the hole thing in the trash

I have used this filter for a few months and it is so problematic I am now looking for a different branding. The filter leaks even though thorough examination shows no cracks or otherwise problems with the canister. I clean the filter cartridges faithfully thinking if they get clogged that would compel the water to leak. The filter is perfectly even and we can see no real reason for the leaks. Sadly, my flooring has taken a beating from the leaks and now I am looking at a greater epense to fix that as well. I should have researched more thoroughly prior to the purchase since it appears I am not alone with this troublesome filter. I will not buy Rena again, period.

I Love the color this bulb gives off in my aquarium! I ordered another grow lamp and it had very poor lighting with a purple tinge to it. Amazon accepted a return of that and I turned around and ordered this light. The Hagen is very bright, natural looking light that actually enhances the color in my planted tank.

These made my tank look new and the plants grow wonderfully. I would highly recommend these bulbs and will purchase again.

I bought this for a 29 gallon tank that I wanted to put some easy plants in. Two Amazon swords and an Apogenoton (probably spelled wrong) are doing well under the light so I can't complain.
