AA Aquarium 3 Watt Mini Green Killing Machine Internal UV Sterilizer-AAUV3W

AA Aquarium 3 Watt Mini Green Killing Machine Internal UV Sterilizer-AAUV3WOver the past few months I have added pressurized CO2 to two of my planted aquariums, and the result has been significant plant growth, however, quite a bit more algae growth as well.

As such, green water has become an issue when it never was before.

The pressurized CO2 goes a long way to adding to this problem, and I wish that the companies that sell pressurized CO2 systems to fishkeepers and aquascapers, would tell their customers to expect that the additional CO2 in an aquarium also results in more nutrients and green water.

And moreover, that adding a uv sterilizer to an aquarium is the only sure way of getting rid of both green and murky water.

I have been using the AA Green Killing Machine Mini 3 watt unit for the past few days, and in conjunction with my Vortex D-1 diatom filter, the Mini has my 20 gallon aquarium's water sparkling.

The Killing Machine is cheaply made, however, it is very well thought out, with its integrated adjustable powerhead and separate plug for both the powerhead and uv sterilizer.

This means that once you have removed the green water from your aquarium, you can turn the uv sterilizer portion of the AA Mini off until the water starts getting murky again, in order to conserve its bulb.

And you can continue to use the power head portion of the Mini to circulate your water.

I also like the fact that the Mini is fairly compact, unlike the 9 and 24 watt AA Green Killing Machines; both of which are much larger and appear ungainly in an aquarium.

Overall, this is a worthwhile product that does its job at a very affordable price.

The replacement bulbs are expensive though, given that you also purchase the housing unit for the bulb as well as the bulb itself, in order to have a tight seal.

With the wires on the Mini in your aquarium, you want to make certain that the water seal is perfect.

Moreover, even though AA says that the bulb on the Mini is only good for 3 to 6 months, if you only use it from time to time, you may get several years out of it before having to replace the bulb.

Given the cost of a powerhead that circulates 100 gallons of water per hour, The AA Mini is a bargain, with both a powerhead and uv sterilizer in one compact unit for about the price of just a powerhead.

It is also nice to be able to unplug the uv sterilizer while being able to keep the powerhead going all the time.

I usually just pour a small amount of plant fertilizer in front of the AA Mini's powerhead and it circulates the liquid fertilizer better than just pouring it into the tank itself.

I highly recommend this product. It is a very good value.

UPDATE 8/13/2012: I'm upping my review to four stars. I'm giving it more stars because the vendor corrected the product description (see below) and what is listed now describes a very solid product for what it's supposed to do. I'm not giving it five because the two plugs are actually kinda annoying. If the amount of plugs isn't a concern for you though you should DEFINATELY buy this product to control algae. Simly stated it works!

I actually like this product quite a bit. The unit is compact, quiet, and keeps my tank water clear of algae. And yet I gave it only two stars. Why? In the description it says "Requires no tubing; Has one plug to operate both the UV sterilizer and filtration pump." Well, they're half right. The unit has two plugs, one for the pump and one for the UV sterilizer bulb. I ordered it because I only had limited plug-ins available and didn't want to clutter the back of my tank with yet another extension cord.

This machine cleared my 10 gallon tank within 5 days. I turned it off and the water has stayed clear over a week. Before using this, my 6 week old tank had turned green and was hardly getting better despite more partial water changes. At the greenest, one of my two goldfish got sick and died. I know algae generally aren't harmful to fish, so I wonder if there was a bad bacteria also. This machine supposedly also reduces bacteria in the water. Either way, it looked too green. I avoided anti-algae chemical treatments because have live plants. My only complaint is that I can't find anywhere to buy replacement bulbs. The bulb is estimated to last 3-6 months if constantly on, so hopefully if I only have use it occasionally, it should last much longer.

We had a fish tank for 2 years but one day the water turned green and looked like green koolaid. After changing the water we had a few fish die but the water was clear. Then the green started coming back about a week later. I got this thinking if it saved just a few fish in a water change it would be worth the price. We have a 30 gallon tank and after about a week the water was clear. Ones the water cleared up I stop running it 24/7 to try and save the UV bulb.

The only problem I have seen in the few months I have had it is the water flow speed nob is stuck and will not turn.

I can't complain, after about 5 days my fluval chi is crystal clear, finally! I replaced the old light on this tank with a much brighter one and ever since the algae has just taken over ( as well as the plants ). I wasn't too happy about how big this thing was, it kinda freaked the beta out putting it in my 6.6 gallon tank but it was worth it as the water is crisp and clear now. Kind of pricey but well worth the convenience of not coming home to a cloudy green tank and doing a water change every few days.

Finnex Ray2 Aquarium Day/Actinic LED Light, 24-Inch

Finnex Ray2 Aquarium Day/Actinic LED Light, 24-InchVery satisfy with the amount of light this gives off in my 20 gallon tank. This was a replacement for the Eclipse II hood, since the hoods light died on me within 3 weeks of having it. My plants (mostly low light plants) are doing very well in the new set up. The light will get warm after being on for a while, but will not burn your hands. I'm able to move with bare hands without much trouble. I've only had this for a few weeks, so lets hope it keeps on going strong :-).

Very nice light and well made. Excellent light output for my 30 gallon reef tank. The only complaint/wish is that it should have separate on off switches for the actinic and the 10k light strip, and a longer cord. Other than that, very nice!

Tetra Usa ATS25867 2nat Whisper 3/4/5 Strainer for Aquarium Filter

Tetra Usa ATS25867 2nat Whisper 3/4/5 Strainer for Aquarium FilterI needed to replace the one from my Top Fin 60 filter. My old strainer came off when I was cleaning the aquarium and I forgot to pick it up right away. A cory got stuck in there and I had to cut the filter strainer to let him out! Thank goodness the fish is ok...

Tetra Pond Filtration Fountain Kits

Tetra Pond FK5 Filtration Fountain KitsThis is an excellent product I am currently using it in a 50 gallon round water feature. At first I thought it would be too much power but its perfect the fountains are high quality! Much better then the little 100gph found I had in here before. Its full adjustable. The filter keeps out large debri, the fountain heads are high quality, and it has extra power/ability to run a seperate hose to a small frog that shoots water from its mouth in addition to the fountain itself. Highly recommend! Much cheaper then Lowes/HD products same thing would run over $100!

I like the design of the pump as far as size but it lacks power and the filter box doesn't stay under water without help (like a brick).

Buy Tetra Pond Filtration Fountain Kits Now

I bought this to replace the original system made by Little Giant, which had started to fall apart over the years. This pump is very powerful and the filter is much better that the one on the Little Giant. I've had it in for weeks now and have not had to clean the filter yet ( I also don't have fish in there now which makes a difference).

You have to weight down the filter or it will float, but this is no big problem. I used a small brick on top, but you can also put weights under the filter elements before putting them in which will work just fine.

Overall, it's well worth the money and looks to be very sturdily built.

I purchased this filtration pump for my 61 gallon backyard pond. The pump arrived in 2 days, was a breeze to set up and continues to do good job of filtering the water and providing oxygen for my fish. This was great buy especially with Amazon's discount.

I put this in my stock tank pond that was a little foggy yesterday, and the water is crystal clear now. I couldnt be happier with the simplicity of assembly and the amount of easy control you have over the flow of water. I rinsed the filter last night and it doesnt get any easier to do it. I was also really happy with the length of the cord. I went into this convinced i had to use an extention cord, but the stock cord was perfect. I will definitely be buying more. This kit beats anything out there in price comparison and it's everything you need to plug and play. I cant stop thinking about all the different fountains that can be made with this pump, too, at a fraction of the cost buying a pre made one at a home improvement store. Definitely doesnt have to be just for ponds. Im going to go shopping for pots soon to make a fountain... Or twelve :D One of the best purchases ive made... EVER.

Aqueon Goldfish Granules

Aqueon 06053 Goldfish Granules, 5.8-OunceAs other reviews have indicated, advertising these as "slow-sinking" may lead to some false expectations. My goldfish has been dining on a mix of these, flakes, and the occasional fresh veggie bit since she came home from the pet store, and seems to get pretty excited about these. I'd say she finds them more exciting than flakes, but still less exciting than fresh peas. She doesn't always notice them before they sink, but seems to like to nose around in the gravel a lot during the day for missed bits of food, so I think they all get eaten sooner or later as long as I don't overfeed. I personally prefer them to the flakes because they don't crumble apart in my fingers like those do, so they aren't as messy.

I bought these granules to give my fish a little diversity and they really love it. They are getting so big, i just wish they would make a larger Granule. But it is a good product, not just for Gold Fish, but for bottom feeders too!!

Buy Aqueon Goldfish Granules Now

Amazon has very competitive price comparing to pet stores. My fish likes it and this can be there main dish.

I only hope the pellets would fall a bit slower.

Read Best Reviews of Aqueon Goldfish Granules Here

These are called "slow sinking" granules. If you think rocks float, then perhaps this statement works for you. I don't think it really matters (the fish will eat food from the bottom), but if you're going to advertise that (and ONLY that) on the front of your product, you should probably make sure it's true.

To clarify, these granules do NOT sink slowly. They drop to the bottom immediately.

The granules are smaller than I expected. They are tiny spheres, slightly larger than a mustard seed (perhaps the same size).

The 5.8oz. container seems to be the best size (it's not so tiny as to seem a waste of time, but not so large as to become comical).

In theory, it would be much easier to feed than flake food, but since the fish wouldn't eat it, that didn't matter.

Hagen Nutrafin Max Goldfish Sinking Pellet, 18.69-Ounce

Hagen Nutrafin Max Goldfish Sinking Pellet, 18.69-Ounce:( My goldfish refuse to eat the 'peasant food'(Flakes) now. I have a fancy gold with chronic swim bladder problems, these pellets are perfect for her and she adores them!

Who knew that goldfish could be picky? My nothing-special, pet-store variety goldfish that live in my garden pond don't like this food at all. Also, pellets are fairly large, which might or might not have anything to do with this. This is not a comment on the seller, who was fine.

Nothing wrong with yellow fish unless you want them to stay their non-yellow colors. I have 5 tanks and I used this food in 2 of them for the last 5 months or so. My beautiful brown, white, jet black and calico goldfish slowly turned SOLID YELLOW while eating this stuff! My red goldfish and any red or yellow on my koi turned orange. I stopped feeding this food 2 weeks ago and a few of my fish (not all of them) are very slowly regaining their colors. (The new calico goldfish I put in there has stayed a calico on Wardley Essentials Goldfish Premium Flakes 1.95 Ounce This is the food I originally had all my goldfish on to prevent swim bladder and make it sink, I feed this by putting some in a net and keeping it underwater for about 20 seconds.)

Apparently this Nutrafin food has yellow color enhancers. So unless you want ALL your goldfish to turn yellow or orange, do not feed! I use the same water to fill all my tanks, same water chemistry etc., and the only fish that turned colors like this were the ones on this food. So this is definitely the problem! I'm giving this product 2 stars because now I have 2 tanks FULL of yellow or orange fish: How exciting is that?

This food also keeps a bit of a cloud in the water, and I've experienced some stubborn black spot algae in the tanks I use this in. Not sure if this is the problem behind the black spot algae but it hasn't grown in my other tanks.

Overall, I just can't recommend this stuff.

Want Hagen Nutrafin Max Goldfish Sinking Pellet, 18.69-Ounce Discount?

First off my fish did not take to this food fast despite having been on a pellet diet for over a year. Eventually after about 3 or 4 days they reluctantly began to eat it. I made a concerted effort to watch my fish (a huge Comet that I bought as a feeder fish and just kept!,and 3 Large Black Moors) eat so that I wouldn't over feed them because after the first feeding and them not eating it my 40 gallon tank was so dirty! A few pellets left uneaten will cloud the water almost instantly. The pellets are orangeish which makes the water so dirty. I switched to this food because I'm a prime member and wanted the free shipping! but sadly I'm going to have to go back to the more expensive all around OSI pellets which my fish love.

I hate leaving bad reviews but man has this food has made my aquarium maintenance exponentially more time consuming and all around unpleasant!

API Algaefix Algae Control

API Algaefix Algae Control, 16-OunceAfter using this product, right away I noticed a reaction with my Goldfish. I have (had) two and the one was affected more then the other. Did a water change and they seemed better. A few weeks later I used it again and then I lost the one fish. For the last few days, even after 2 partial water changes my lone goldfish is VERY stressed and going crazy. Today I'm doing another 2/3 water change and hoping for the best...

Google "Algaefix and goldfish" and read some of the reviews you find there. Some folks think this product should be banned, and I agree wholeheartedly!

The first time I used it, I used it according to directions. I counted out 14 drops for my 10 gallon tank. It cleared within a couple of hours, and then the next day, the algae bloom was back, so I waited three days, like the directions said, and put in another 14 drops, and the next morning, my fish were all lying on the bottom of the tank. When they didn't respond to even food by noon, I got them out of the tank and put them into our quarantine tank until my husband could come home and completely empty and clean everything in the 10-gallon tank. I would not use this again. I hope my fish will be okay. After several hours, they seem to be coming around. If they die, I will write back with an update not to use this product.

I never use chemicals in my tanks but this time I decided to try because I developed an algae problem in one of my tanks that I could not get under control after adding t5ho lighting (Even after reducing light duration). Since I am averse to unnecessary chemicals entering my tanks I only gave a half dose after a water change yesterday. When I awoke this morning I had a lovely tank of dead fish. There is nothing else that would have contributed to the entire tank being wiped out but this hideous product ( My ammonia, nitrate and nitrite levels are fine). I wrote API about it and am awaiting a response. STAY AWAY from this and use any other method of destroying algae that does not consist of using this product (Or any other chemical product for that matter). API/MARS should be ashamed to have this on the market.

10 Opae Ula Shrimp, Hawaii Volcano Ecosphere Shrimp

10 Opae Ula Shrimp, Hawaii Volcano Ecosphere ShrimpBuyer Beware: A lot of these little shrimp are sold in enclosed ecosystems or habitats that are too small for these guys. While these shrimp are EXTREMELY hardy and and can TOLERATE unfit habitats it is more humane to keep them in a tank or bowl that you can feed them in and make water changes.

Now that I have that outta the way...

These pets are amazing and super active. They don't need a whole lot of food or maintenance (only minimal)

They were clear upon arrival and within a few hours turned pink and red which was cool. My 2 1/2 year old son is mesmerized by their size, color and movement. I'm so happy! Adorable little shrimpy-poos! YAY!!

Pro Balance® 14-Day Vacation Feeding Blocks for Fish, 2-pack

Pro Balance® 14-Day Vacation Feeding Blocks for Fish, 2-packGood Vacation Feeders for extended time away from home. Dousn't appear to cloud the water either. Couldn't find any trace of the food upon my return after 8-10 days away.

I've just tried this product on a 3-gal. tank with 3 goldfish, leaving them for 10 days with one tablet.

The good news: the fish are alive (I guess, that's what matters most). The not so good one: pretty much all surfaces of the aquarium, including the plants and the innards of the pump have been covered with rather sticky white goo which wouldn't wash off on its own without actively brushing it off. A bit of a nuisance, requiring a thorough clean-up. Next time, I am going to try an automatic feeder like EHEIM Everyday Fish Feeder Programmable Automatic Food Dispenser but it's still good to have a couple of these tablets in case of an emergency.

These feeding blocks ruined my classroom aquarium's environment. We had a total of 10 days of spring break vacation. When I got back, the floor of the aquarium and all the plants were covered with a white debris, the water was clouded, and one fish who was visibly struggling to breath died a few days later. It took a huge amount of effort to restore the aquarium's healthy environment. I will never again use a feeding block for an extended period of time. My students and I were deeply saddened by the state of the aquarium upon our return. In the future, I will shell out the big bucks for an electric fish feeder.

This is a very very good item. I went out of country for over 30 days. I was almost convinced that fish will be dead by the time i am back. But I tried to give it a try. Searched for a vacation food and found this. Bought it, and just put one in my 10G tank because I was afraid adding two would over-pollute the water. And went off to India. When I came back after a month, the water was crystal clear, the fish looked perfectly healthy and none of them were dead. What a bliss. I am now always going to depend on it if I have to go on a long vacation.

We have a 20 gallon fish tank with 6 fish a varying sizes in it. We were going on vacation for 8 days and were looking for an option that would feed the fish and not gunk up the tank. After reading other reviews I decided to try Pro Balance's 14-Day feeding blocks and they were an excellent option. I placed both blocks in the tank two a day before we left just to see what would happen and how the fish would handle it. We returned for an 8 day vacation and I was pleasantly surprised to find all six fish alive and healthy and the tank was as clean as it had ever been after 8 days. I expected to find funky, cloudy water at a minimum and possibly dead fish. Neither happened and everything looked to be in great shape. I'll definitely use the Pro Balance feeding blocks for future trips.

Marineland Cartridge System 3 Explorer and Hex 3pk

Marineland Cartridge System 3 Explorer and Hex 3pkCompared to PetsMart this should save you a few dollars. Also, don't be so quick to throw these guys away with the Eclipse tanks. We've noticed that the tanks filtration system has a pretty solid vacuum, so you'll notice that these cartridges will get dirty after about 4-5 days. Don't worry, because it's just the top layer. Pull the cartridge out and scrub the surface with a new toothbrush from your dentist. You know? The cheap ones they give you after you've paid for a teeth cleaning. TOM Aquarium Surface Skimmer-canister and power filters

TOM Aquarium Surface Skimmer-canister and power filtersThis skimmer is on my 90 gallon HEAVILY planted aquarium; and I bought it to get rid of the film on top of the water. The skimmer comes with almost no directions; you just have to figure it out which isn't too hard.

By design, the clear piece with the inverted castle top floats, and by design (and depending on your filter flow rate) it shouldn't require much tweaking. I do not believe the device was intended for the size of filter I'm running so the concept of "float balance" as designed doesn't exactly work flawlessly for me. However, I'm using it far beyond it's intended capability bracket and therefore it does require a bit of tweaking and daily attention due to my high light an evaporation rate but I've negated that by using a rubber band to somewhat restrict the floating upper part of the device which has worked well.

BUT Overall this product is good. Could be better with simple engineering changes but whatever.... If you're semi-intelligent, have less than a 100 gallon aquarium and run less than 200 watts of compact fluorescent light you should be pleased. I gave it 5 stars because; although not perfect, it functions extremely well for the price.

I do not have any film on the top of the water any more!

I have this TOM skimmer hooked up to a Rena XP4 running full blast; and it isn't a straight connection with the parts from the box. You must take a piece of your Rena filter tubing and use it to connect the "bendy" part of the TOM skimmer to connect it to the Rena intake. I used a 1 inch piece, no big deal but I was curious when I bought mine so I thought you should know....

This surface skimmer takes some fiddling to get working properly.

In short, this will replace your filters normal intake tube, so right there is where most of your (potential) issues will come into play. For me the tube on this was the exact same size as the intake of my canister filter, which means I couldn't hook it up. I ended up taking the tube into a nearby Lowe's and searching for plastic (not metal) fittings that would work with it to get it hooked up.

The clear plastic part you can see in the photos is the float, after installing you'll need to lift that part out of the water so that the underside has air in it. You then gently lower it onto the water and the trapped air will make it float. The piece of plastic that sticks up the center is how you adjust how much suction there is, twist it until the float is skimming the water, but not strong enough to pull it completely under.

This will create noise, but with some tweaking you can minimize it.

I had never heard of the brand "TOM" before, but based on the pictures this one is exactly the same as the one offered by Hagen.

Caution: I maintain fully planted tanks, which includes floating plants. Unfortunately, floating plants will very easily clog this up. I somewhat expected that, but thought I'd try it anyways. I may keep trying at a later time with a very minimal amount of surface skimming to see if there can be a balance.

Buy TOM Aquarium Surface Skimmer-canister and power filters Now

I too was having problems with the nasty film on top of my water. I have 2 eheims, 2217 and 2228. I hooked this up to my 2228 intake. Eheim offers a surface extractor for $40. The TOM was only around $11 so I thought I'd try it first. It is awesome. Just as advertised. The flex hose is removable and the little L fitting can be slid on in place of the flex hose. I hooked directly up to my U tube intake. I did this by removing the strainer on the end of the U tube and cut a little piece of eheim tubing (about 2", but it may vary for you) in order to fit the skimmer to the U tube. Great product. My surface is now crystal clear. As soon as I hooked it up, you could see the film being sucked right in. It's hard to tell, but the clear plastic strainer on the TOM moves freely and separate from the black portion. It floats on the surface. Twisting the black stick that goes down through the center of the strainer moves a stopper at the bottom and it's used to regulate the flow entering either the bottom of the device (as a regular intake would work) or the top of the device (clear strainer at the top). There is a fine balance and takes a little time to get the flow right, but not too bad. Very happy with purchase.

Little to no directions on how to actually use this. It appears this same exact item is made for other companies under different names. I found a PDF 'manual' by searching for 'Hagen surface skimmer PDF'. A big part of the correct functionality of this device that I could not figure out was, a pocket of air must remain under the top portion for it to correctly float. It's a little tricky to get setup but once done, makes sense and is easily adjustable. The only time I really have to adjust it is when I feed the fish. I dial it all the way up so it's not surface skimming and is only pulling from the bottom. I then feed the fish and dial it back down so its clearing the crud off the top.

Want TOM Aquarium Surface Skimmer-canister and power filters Discount?

I'm using this surface skimmer attached to an Aquaclear 10 HOB filter to remove surface scum in my marine tank. (I don't run a protein skimmer.) I had to cut the elbow adapter to make it fit into the Aquaclear intake but that was a 2 minute job. It takes a bit of fiddling to adjust it so the water flows in without making a lot of gurgling noise but once adjusted it works pretty good. The teeth are small so your fish and inverts don't get sucked in the filter.

Cons: Sometimes the floating arm will sink below the water's surface when large snails climb up on it. My snails enjoy the gunk that accumulates in the intake. The elbow adapter and flex hose didn't fit my filter, I had to cut to fit. Easy enough but it would have been better if there were some other adapter options.

Gave it 4 stars because it does take some work to figure out how to adjust the inner screw so the intake floats. Instructions are pretty much garbage. It definitely gets the scum off the top of the water. I wrote this review as I'm purchasing two more for my other tanks.

Eshopps RS-200 Reef Sump - 125 to 225 gallons - 30 in. x 12 in. x 16 in.

Eshopps RS-200 Reef Sump - 125 to 225 gallons - 30 in. x 12 in. x 16 in.I've always been the type to buy the "next size up" when it comes to filtration. Currently, I have this sump hooked up to my 90 Gallon Reef Tank. In it, I have space for a Reef Octopus Needle Wheel Skimmer 6 in. up to 150 gallons in the protein skimmer area, and a Mag Drive Supreme 950 GPH Pump in the return area.

The water level lines that come on the sump will not be accurate if you have to raise up your protein skimmer (like I did), but besides that, it's a very simple design to work with. I do wish the filter socks were easier to remove (in my case, they are very difficult to remove at times because I have to slip a piece of PVC pipe into the drain bulkhead AFTER/WHILE I reinstall the filter sock (after washing it). The reason I have the extended PVC pipe going from the bulkhead into the water is so that the sump doesn't make so much water splashing noise when it is running. I'm sure with a little modification, this could become easier, so it isn't a deal-breaker when evaluating the sump. To keep things "in the family", I purchased the Eshopps PF-1200 Overflow Box Up to 300 gal. to go with this sump and EVERYTHING connects together very nicely.

In terms of durability, it is constructed very nicely and packaged very safely from the factory. The seams are all very nicely glued together and I have never had a leak in the past 6 months since I set it up.

All-in-all, it's a very nice sump, with exception to the filter sock frame design and the water splashing that comes from the factory drain setup. If you don't mind cutting a few pieces of PVC to quiet down your drains, this is the sump for you.

Hydor AQUA COLORMIX Aquarium LED Light, MultiColor, Blue, Red, Green

Hydor AQUA COLORMIX Aquarium LED Light, MultiColor, Blue, Red, GreenI have purchased 7 of these. I have 2 tanks. A 30 gallon and a 75 gallon.

Have three of these lights in the 30 gallon, and they work, incredibly. The changing colors really make for a fabulous effect, especially upon red and blue gravel. I have three synthetic plants, a log, a house w/ waterwheel that bubbles and a upward-stretching driftwood. Each light, shines down upon each of those, then I have Gem Decor stones, scattered about the tank, which catch the light and make for an impressive effect as well.

Then, I have four of these lights in the 75 gallon. They're.. not quite as impressive in the larger tank. Have 2 of the lights, shining down upon decorative structures, and the other two, hidden inside small bubbling volcanoes, to light up the bubbles coming out of them. They fit perfectly inside the little volcanoes and are a much cheaper alternative to buying the more expensive volcano bubblers.

Now for the bad news. I've had to return, 2 of them so far. One, failed to work, right out of the package. The other stopped working, a day after putting it in one of the tanks. Both of those, the supplier, replaced at no cost to me. A service that was quite quick.

Unfortunately, yet two others have issues after 4 months. One, only alternates 2 of the 3 colors, and the other simply doesn't work at all anymore. I do not use these, on a constant basis. They are turned off, during the day, and only used during the night, so they run for maybe 8-12 hours out of a day.

So, save for those issues, I think they're a splendid product. But, I think the product needs a bit more refinement, so that they last longer and don't fault out.

I got this for my little beta fish because I have another huge fish tank that has a light and every night when it would get dark he would sit on the bottom of his bowl and stare over at the other tank that was all lit up and during the day he would lye on the bottom of bowl staring out the window. He came from Wal-mart so he was always in the light 24-7 and then I got him and he had to spend a few nights in the dark but now that I have this wonderful light he is having a blast cursing around his bowl in the light. It's so nice to see him swimming around and not just lying on the bottom of the bowl. He's so much happier now and the light is very nice it gently changes colors between red, blue, and green and looks very nice shining into the bowl. I would definitely recommend this light to anyone with a fish tank and not just for a beta but all types of fish it is a very nice light shining into the tank.

I have several of these lights which change colors and you can put them anywhere you want. I have put them in some of my decorations and or on the tanks walls. These are great because you can use them in or out of the water.

TOM Aquarium Deco Kit - 2gal Aquarium Kit - PC Lighting & Filter

TOM Aquarium Deco Kit - 2gal Aquarium Kit - PC Lighting & Filterthe filter is amazing for the tank...powerful enough that I have had it for almost a year and have only had to add water here and there and wipe around the tops of the tank and replace the filter cartridges. The only complaint I have with the product is the fact that the tank is very cheaply made. I screwed the NANO light onto the top of the tank itself where the lights sleeve rests and very slowly tightened the plastic screws and it instantly cracked the top of the fish tank. Besides that my guppies are happy in their sophisticated home.

I had to say it is a very useful water pump for all people have aquariums. It is enough to say that changing water for your aquarium became very easy with this pump.

The first one I bought had leakage in the tube but when I submitted a complaint they sent me a new one. I am quite happy with it.

The battery powered water changing pump, really hard to search for. They used to sell this kind of stuff in pet stores. Now you can barely find it on line. Its great, works well. Its a bit expensive and it shipped from Hong Kong. Which took two weeks. I want to get another one just because I have a 75 gal fish tank so it takes longer to empty. Keep in.mind when you her toward the last inch of water you'll have to use a bucket to get the last of it. Gravity is your enemy there.

ProClear Aquatics Motorized 150 Gallon Protein Skimmer

ProClear Aquatics Motorized 150 Gallon Protein SkimmerThis is a very well designed and constructed protein skimmer. Has a small footprint taking up minimal space inside the sump. Optional drainage port is terrific. Nice touch to include tube for optional drainage port! Extremely easy to put together. Water level adjustment is very simple to use simply hold the middle of pipe and gently pull up or down on the elbow. The sight tube is a nice addition. Seems to work well and skimming is efficient. The only reason that I'm giving only 4 stars is I did not like the included Rio 2100 pump and the skimming is not as efficient as AquaC Remora/Urchin. It is large, heavy and bulky. I think Rios are not reliable either. I had to change to a Quiet One 2200 pump which is more compact to be able to fit with room leftover in my sump. If I tried to use the Rio pump, it would have been an extremely tight fit and Visi-Therm stealth heater would need to be removed. I had a tough time finding a compact skimmer for my 100-125 gallon sump that had an optional drainage port. This is a great buy even if you need to spend $25 for a compact Quiet One pump or stick with Rio pump if you are not picky.

Does exactlt what it is supposed to do and was very easy to put together. Worth the money.

I've tried about 4 skimmers and didn't like any of them due to them not working well or being high maintenance. I'm a newbie and this skimmer works like a charm for me!
