Bio Bubble Aquarium Bundle

BioBubble Aquarium Bundle, BlackI was hoping that this would be a better home for my daughter's betta fish than a standard crappy tank from petsmart. It's not. There are a lot of flaws with the design. Filters are only available online and you have to pay $7 shipping. Gravel can get caught in the seams in below the tank that are impossible to get out that makes the latch barely stick that holds the tank down. Sometimes if i walk in the room the latch will come undone an the tank will pop up. I'm overweight but I don't need a fish tank telling me that. It also happens with my 50 lbs daughter so I don't feel so bad.

And then you find out the real problem. Since its plastic, it flexes. Since it flexes, if you get close to filling the tank up the full way, when you close the tank, water shoots out of the top. Nothing I like more than getting sprayed by skanky fish water.

Totally disappointed with the overall design on what should have been a superior tank.

C

I bought the bio bubble before the holidays as a family gift. It is a big hit! We have three goldfish that the kids love to watch. I love that everything was incorporated. Filter, light (in our set although I think it could be extra normally) and the fact that it is easy to clean is a huge plus! Customer service is also amazing! We had an issue insertion ting the rubber tube when putting this together, called and left a message on a Sunday night and got a call back in 30 min (even though by that point we had figured it out). Also, I accidentally dropped the dome when cleaning and the rubber gasket somehow tore. Causing a leak. I called customer service and got a new gasket delivered in less then a week! This is our first tank and I highly recommend! I want to get one for each of the kids!

PetSafe Boundary Flags, Bundle of 50

PetSafe Boundary Flags, Bundle of 50These flags are so small my dog wasn't even noticing them, defeating the whole idea of containment since she wasn't aware of the barrier. Now, in defense of the manufacturer, it's winter in Ohio and the ground is white with snow, making the puny white flags almost invisible. So I bought some plastic safety-orange 1" wide tape, cut 6 inch lengths and stapled them to the flags. That worked.

These flags are brittle plastic. They snap easily. I had to 'predrill' for every one with a screwdriver. The metal ones are much easier to install. On the other hand, the plastic ones are easier on the lawn mower. The picture appears to be the metal variety but that is not what i received.

Flags were much smaller than I had anticipated. I guess I didn't look at the size. Too small to be practical.

Read Best Reviews of PetSafe Boundary Flags, Bundle of 50 Here

When I initially installed the fence it came with wire stems on the flags (as shown in the picture when ordering) and the flags were larger. This last set I purchased were plastic and very small. I agree with another reviewer, the plastic is too hard to stick in the ground. I returned them immediately.

Dogs would dig under fence and get out into the street. After PetSafe Boundary installed, they wont go 3 feet from the fence. DONT PUT YOUR HAND ON THE RECEIVER AND GET CLOSE TO THE FENCE or YOU WONT GO NEAR THE FENCE.

Nutrafin Max Tropical Fish Flakes, 4.4 -Pound

Nutrafin Max Tropical Fish Flakes, 4.4 -Poundwas what I was looking for and I did not have to drive 50 miles one way and not be able to purchase what I needed.

My fish get a generous pinch each day. At that rate this bucket will last nearly a year. The price is right for bulk. Unless you intend to kill your pets, it only makes sense to purchase food in bulk like this. I hope this product is still available at a good price next year... I will buy again.

All Glass Aquarium AAG20009 Inc Economy Hood, 20-Inch

All Glass Aquarium AAG20009 Inc Economy Hood, 20-InchIn less than 4 weeks, the light sockets literally fell out. No physical cause, just extremely poor workmanship. Definitely a hood to avoid.

The light in the hood, from the moisture, eventually corrodes and stops working and this occurs after a short time, 3-4 months. We have gone through two of these hoods then ditched it for a better one. I would stay away from this style of hood as it is cheaply made and not durable for a fish tank.

Buy All Glass Aquarium AAG20009 Inc Economy Hood, 20-Inch Now

I purchased the tank which included the filter and economy hood. The tank and filter work great, however the hood broke within 5 weeks. The plastic assembly that holds the light bulb in place broke and cannot be fixed. Like the last person said it may pay to buy a better quality hood. This one doesn't cut it....

Read Best Reviews of All Glass Aquarium AAG20009 Inc Economy Hood, 20-Inch Here

This hood will fall apart on you! The bulb socket was designed in a way that it is very hard to change the bulb. You must unscrew the cover otherwise you will risk cracking the bulb (I wasted $20 on bulb)because you can reach the base of the bulb with the cover on. It is not made with rustfree material so after the screw is rusted in place then you can't even change your bulb anymore. It won't last more than 2-3 bulb change. I also think because the design of this junk (everything exposed to moisture)the bulb just doesn't last very long. The whole thing doesn't last very long!

Want All Glass Aquarium AAG20009 Inc Economy Hood, 20-Inch Discount?

I purchased this hood for my son's 10 gallon tank from a local aquarium. We did not put lights in initially, so it *worked* OK. Once I got a hold of some bulbs, I decided to just install one of them, because it was bright enough. That lasted a total of 2 weeks. As others experienced, the screw base of the lamp socket just broke itself off either by corrosion or vibration or who knows what. I discovered this by attempting to unscrew the bulb, but not encountering any resistance whatsoever. It only was held there in place by the cheap plastic water shield.

I then tried the other side, and got at least a few more days out of that compared to the other side before the exact same thing happened. Horrible, horrible design. I cannot believe how anyone could think a design like this could possibly work. A complete waste of materials and energy to make and sell this product, only to have it land in a dump somewhere within a few months. I'm only hoping my local aquarium will take it back for a refund.

TrueLumen Aquatic LED Strips, Quantity 1

TrueLumen Aquatic LED Strips, Quantity 1In case you were wondering because the details are not specified here. I ordered this item and received the 4x roseate LED strip which is what I was looking for

After doing some research on LEDs for my nano reef I decided to go with the True Lumen LEDs. At the time of this review, they are the least expensive LED full lighting solution. These are not just accent lights, but are strong enough to light your whole tank. (assuming you buy enough strips, of course.) I saw them at this price and decided to take a gamble and order. The ones I got were all pink (aka rose). No blue or white LEDs on these strips. So you can't actually light your tank in a healthy way with only pink, but if you are looking for the a pink True Lumen strip, this is a good option. Came new in package, genuine product. At 3 watts per LED (12 watts per srip) these guys are bright. I am happy with this price and the product. Does not include power transformer or the 3-way-splitter to connect more than one strip, you must purchase those separately. (That is standard for modular LED light systems at this time, so keep that in mind when pricing competitors.)

It would have been really nice if somewhere along the lines in big bold letters (Or at all) They post that the power supply is NOT INCLUDED. Just got this in the mail today only to find I don't have the unit to power it. Now I'm going to have to buy the power supply and wait longer. I might just find a lamp at this rate.

I order the LED light from Amazon, I open it up and there is No power cord!! What??

No where on Amazon's page does it say "adapter sold separately, or does not come with power cord" That would have been NICE

I then get on Amazon and search for trueLumen power supply adapter guess what out of Stock!!

Really I got a light and no way to plug it in!! I then went on the internet to try and find the adpater, seem they must be in big demand because they want more for the adapter then what I paid for the light which is just ridiculous.

Amazon make sure you have enough adapters in stock to go with the LED lights. Better yet why can't trueluman just sell the light with the cord Together!!

Since I can't plug the LED into the wall I sent it back to Amazon & bought a differnt LED light at my local fish shop & guess what it came with a power cord WOW it can sold together!! Hint hint amazon

JW Pet Company Fusion Air Pump 500 Aquarium Air Pump

JW Pet Company Fusion Air Pump 500 Aquarium Air PumpCompared to a couple of models of Tetra air pumps I have, the Fusion air pumps are BY FAR the best value. Near-silent operation, two air nipples to attach your airstones or whatever to, very long-lived compared to similar pumps truly the best value. And a BARGAIN too. I have a ten and a forty gallon tank and have my older Tetra air pumps offline. Fusion air pumps are so much better that there's really no comparing the two. Vastly superior design, excellent appearance, 100% satisfied.

Bought this unit to replace two small units. After about forty days one of the pumps in this dual pump unit died. Since I ran my time options out with Amazon and JW Pet wants a fee plus the cost of shipping to them, I thought I'd take it apart and see if I could get it running properly. Although it's well made and the variable concept works, the actual internal pumps are pretty cheap. It is basically a copy of what one of my single units had. It pumps a lot more air, however. So I still use the one good side and one of my older, smaller pumps. I was hoping that it would have lasted at least a year or so, or the stated warranty. I'll update how long the working side lasts for certain. I'm also going to call JW and see if they'll ship me the pump part.

This water pump is very powerful for my 55 gallon tank. It supports two 28 inch air stones and oxygenates my tank well. Fishies are happy.

Could be long, boring and thorough, but why? Nobody cares about the brand or appearance, this thing sits in a cabinet, hopefully never needing to be messed with or seen again.

The main issue with air pumps is noise. This pump is silent.

This pump delivers great air, and I can't hear it.

Why I dealt with the low buzz/hum of the Tetra pumps before is a mystery to me other than I didn't know better. When I think of all the other pumps I have had it terrariums or aquariums and my efforts to silence them (on carpet, in a box, in a cooler, towel over, etc) I wish I would have just gotten one of these instead.

Nobody cares about the look of the air pump, its color, whatever all people want to do it plug it an and forget it is there. This pump is doing a great job of that.

Want JW Pet Company Fusion Air Pump 500 Aquarium Air Pump Discount?

I have a Tetra Whisper Air Pump (77851 for 10 gallon) and I was satisfied with how that worked but needed another air pump since I was getting another 10 gallon tank. Based on reviews, I decided to give this pump a try.

This is very quiet and is capable of putting out much more air (and its adjustable!) than the Tetra Whisper 10. You can turn it all the way down and each of the 2 valves put out less air than the Tetra Whisper 10, but if you turn it all the way up, it is much stronger than the Tetra Whisper 10.

Im very impressed with this Air Pump. Im terms of noise level, especially considering how strong it can be, it is very quiet. You can hear a slight low humming sound if you listen closely, but the sound of the bubbles in your water will mask that.

Ive been running this for about a week now and would highly recommend this. For just under 12 dollars, this is a great value!

Pro Balance® 14-Day Vacation Feeding Blocks for Fish, 2-pack

Pro Balance® 14-Day Vacation Feeding Blocks for Fish, 2-packGood Vacation Feeders for extended time away from home. Dousn't appear to cloud the water either. Couldn't find any trace of the food upon my return after 8-10 days away.

I've just tried this product on a 3-gal. tank with 3 goldfish, leaving them for 10 days with one tablet.

The good news: the fish are alive (I guess, that's what matters most). The not so good one: pretty much all surfaces of the aquarium, including the plants and the innards of the pump have been covered with rather sticky white goo which wouldn't wash off on its own without actively brushing it off. A bit of a nuisance, requiring a thorough clean-up. Next time, I am going to try an automatic feeder like EHEIM Everyday Fish Feeder Programmable Automatic Food Dispenser but it's still good to have a couple of these tablets in case of an emergency.

These feeding blocks ruined my classroom aquarium's environment. We had a total of 10 days of spring break vacation. When I got back, the floor of the aquarium and all the plants were covered with a white debris, the water was clouded, and one fish who was visibly struggling to breath died a few days later. It took a huge amount of effort to restore the aquarium's healthy environment. I will never again use a feeding block for an extended period of time. My students and I were deeply saddened by the state of the aquarium upon our return. In the future, I will shell out the big bucks for an electric fish feeder.

This is a very very good item. I went out of country for over 30 days. I was almost convinced that fish will be dead by the time i am back. But I tried to give it a try. Searched for a vacation food and found this. Bought it, and just put one in my 10G tank because I was afraid adding two would over-pollute the water. And went off to India. When I came back after a month, the water was crystal clear, the fish looked perfectly healthy and none of them were dead. What a bliss. I am now always going to depend on it if I have to go on a long vacation.

We have a 20 gallon fish tank with 6 fish a varying sizes in it. We were going on vacation for 8 days and were looking for an option that would feed the fish and not gunk up the tank. After reading other reviews I decided to try Pro Balance's 14-Day feeding blocks and they were an excellent option. I placed both blocks in the tank two a day before we left just to see what would happen and how the fish would handle it. We returned for an 8 day vacation and I was pleasantly surprised to find all six fish alive and healthy and the tank was as clean as it had ever been after 8 days. I expected to find funky, cloudy water at a minimum and possibly dead fish. Neither happened and everything looked to be in great shape. I'll definitely use the Pro Balance feeding blocks for future trips.

Jellyfish Art Desktop Jellyfish Tank, 3-Pack

Jellyfish Art Desktop Jellyfish Tank, 3-PackI was so excited to buy this tank and raise jellyfish with my special education class. The tank itself is cute, but the 3 semi-dead jellies that arrived 8 hours later than promised, in a box labeled "perishable", but with NO indication that there were living things inside, was heartbreaking. The living rock was a joke, the substrate MUCH too big, and tank levels were IMPOSSIBLE to stabilize regardless of how many water changes. This was the biggest waste of money I've ever spent! I only gave it 1 star because it would't allow me to post with none checked.

"

We are former JFA customers. We made three attempts at keeping jellies. They all shrunk and JFA consistently gave two answers when we contacted them do a 20% water change and feed more. The third, and final time we had JFA jellies they shrunk again. Only when I became utterly exasperated with their 'water change/feed more' answer did they suggest regularly adding a few drops of Phytofeast and/or live food. Now I think they're telling customers all the time to feed live food had they simply acknowledged this at the onset (instead of pushing their frozen food and reassuring customers this was the only food required) I would never have purchased jellies since I wasn't interested in starting a brine shrimp hatchery in my house. Nevertheless, because I already had them and they were dying/shrinking with JFA frozen food I had to start hatching brine shrimp. Finally, with live food one jelly grew large and normal looking. But, this was only after it had mated with another jelly which resulted in orange polyps covering every surface of the tank. (I asked about the possibility of mating before I bought them and was assured this couldn't happen. Also, polyps reproduce independently, so when these show up there's no way of getting rid of them unless the tank is completely broken down, cleaned out, and re-started.) At this point, we overlooked the orange mess because we were happy that after all our effort at least one was surviving. According to JFA it's ok to leave jellies alone for a weekend, if needed. We did that and came home to find this beautiful jelly in shreds from the bubble tube. After so much time, effort, expense, and frustration with poor customer service we decided we'd had enough and took down the tank.

gift for my 17yo daughter. I am amazed at how well it works. It has been up and running for over a month and looks as good as the day it came.

Read Best Reviews of Jellyfish Art Desktop Jellyfish Tank, 3-Pack Here

So I've had aquariums for around 30 years, I grew up raising and caring for fish, i've dealt with desktop tanks and tanks that were 200 gallons. I have a few exotic reptiles as pets, and I've managed to keep cats and dogs alive for year and years with no problem. I feel that I'm a pretty experienced pet owner.

this tank is cheaply made, like suuuuuuper cheaply made. I spoke to someone who designs fishtanks and they said it was about the lowest grade acrylic you can use, though whether this is true or not is up for debate I suppose...though using an acrylic specific brush on the tank (and using it lightly) managed to do irreparable cosmetic damage. it looked like i'd taken a rake to the side of the tank.

the "live rock" is not live rock, it's glass or some other substance with divots in it that will eventually supposedly harbor bacteria, but it's not actual live rock, and the bacteria that gets fostered in there is NOT the stuff you want in your tank (i had a friend do lab tests on the water from another JFA tank as they are a biochemist so we went a couple steps beyond a traditional water testing kit and the water was not healthy since it ends up full of waste products from the jellies, and the snails and crabs you are encouraged to buy that are actually even MORE detrimental to the jellyfish).

the jellyfish i got were quite small and seemingly unhealthy. they died or shrank quickly, if they were not sucked into the aeration tube and shredded to death (this is in fact a very VERY common complaint) watching them die was heartbreaking and after multiple attempts (since i assumed the first time might have been the result of user error). in addition, the first set of crabs/snails i got were completely crushed before they even got to my house.

customer service was not helpful as their only suggestion was to change the water, something I did religiously until after my 4th go I threw out the tank as I could not bear to kill any more animals.

All said and done I probably spent close to a thousand dollars trying to modify the tank so that it could sustain life, and it could not, and can not.

Jellyfish are -veryhard to keep in captivity, especially in a tank that has no real filtration system...even moreso when you're dealing with a very small tank as the smaller the tank, the more volatile the environment.

I think the LED is very pretty, the design of the tank is decent, but this is something that should only be purchased by experienced aquarium owners, and even then with the caveat that this will be a LOT of work.

Since the system lacks a filter, water changes are something you'll have to do 1 or 2 times at week AT LEAST, since jellyfish are 97% water and are extremely sensitive to their environment. the aeration

Finnex Digital Temperature Control Glass Heater, 200-Watt

Finnex Digital Temperature Control Glass Heater, 200-WattI have always had the old glass top mounted heaters and switched to this heater and here is why I say its awesome :)

first it is built solid there are no cheap plastic parts, the control button is well designed and placed on the top for easy access with a simple push of the button it will flash then all you do is push the button till you reach the desired setting it will automatically start heating and it does it at a nice slow pace as not to shock the fish with a rapid heat change to their environment. The temperature sensor has about 8 inches of play to place it away from the heater to get an accurate temperature with a suction cup on the probe and 2 on the heater the black color blends in nice so it does not stand out to much. Next the led readout is nice allowing you to see the current temperature a green led tells you the power is on and a red led comes on telling you it is heating then goes off when desired temp is reached, I have unplugged it to test the memory and it does exactly as described remembering the setting.

Love this Product !!!

I purchased this heater for my 38 gallon and I love it! The digital reading is accurate and very easy to adjust. No second guessing the temp. I still keep a thermometer on the opposite end of the tank and the temp is right on! So easyplan to buy another for my 55 gallon.

Cat Dancer Complete Action Cat Toy

Cat Dancer Complete Action Cat ToyJust buy this cat dancer toy Cat Dancer Products Original Interactive Cat Toy and forget the wall-mount style.

I thought I'd be lazy and buy the wall-mount cat dancer I stuck the wall-mount part of it on the back of my bedroom door and the adhesive sticks way too much; no matter what I use to try and remove it, the residue and part of the foam will not come off the door. The cats quickly lost interest playing with it this way, they want ME to interact with them. I have more fancy moves than a stationary cat dancer mounted to a wall or door.

Plus I also think it's a bad idea to make this a toy where you do not supervise the cat's play the cardboard tubing eventually shreds and the bare wire can be dangerous to your cat.

Original Cat Dancer: 5 stars

Original Cat Dancer with Wall Mount: 2 stars just use it as the original and forget the wall mount.

Of all the cat toys I've ever spent money on this is the best. Its inexpensive and not a danger to the cat as other toys can be. But it is also the toy the cats prefer above all others!

Bought with included stick-um paw for $ from an Amazon seller. That is less than the price for the cat dancer alone at my local pet shop. ALL of my cats love the cat dancer but the stick-um paw does not hold up to their attacks (have tried duct tape too). Seems to me that if my cats love it THAT much, I need a plan B. I'm still experimenting but as the cat dancer even amuses my two 12 year old cats, I'd say it's one of the best if not the best cat toy ever.

All my cats love the dancer. They started playing with it at about a year old, still love it at 3, and the two 8 year olds have fun with it, too. However, they don't play with it when it's just mounted on a wall; I have to wave it around for them. But when I do wave it around, they go nuts. The little cardboard bits on the end eventually get chewed off and the wire eventually gets a bit crooked, but at $3.50 a pop (at my local pet store), I don't mind replacing it every 4 or 5 months.

Want Cat Dancer Complete Action Cat Toy Discount?

I have a 1yr-old cat and a 3-month old kitten and being active and playful cats, this was perfect for them. My mom introduced the Cat Dancer to me, saying how her older cats of 4+ yrs love it, and they're lazy, large cats.

I got the Complete Cat Dancer with the sticky wall mount for when I don't want to play. I actually have it attached to the door to the garage, and with a fan circulating the air, it kind of wiggles/flutters like a bug, and my cats love it.

I was concerned, at first, about using the wall mount because it is a strong sticky adhesive, so I didn't want to put it on a wall or wooden door out of fear it would peel paint.

Aquatop CF500UV 5-Stage Canister Filter with UV 9W, 525 gph

Aquatop CF500UV 5-Stage Canister Filter with UV 9W, 525 gphHaving been keeping fish for 40 years, I grow more passionate about the hobby as time marches on. I also have become much more critical of the overwhelming sub par equipment that continues to flood the market.

A long time eheim fan, I've used their filters almost exclusively for thirty plus years and will always consider them the finest made aquarium filters in the world. That said, it was with some trepidation I ordered the Aquatop 500. I had read good reviews on the fish forums and decided to give this unit a shot.

Aquatops are made by SunSun one of the largest filter manufactures in the world. Aside from minor cosmetic differences this is the exact same filter as Reaction, Grech, SunSun, The Marineland C series and others. Although Aquatop is relatively new to the US SunSun has been making filtration systems since 1985 and I would encourage anyone to visit their web site.

Regarding the Aquatop 500 I was impressed from the get go. This is one powerful filter that provides more bang for your buck than most others in this price range. Quality touches include 3/4 inch clear green non kink hose. Secure lock down brackets for the power head, a very good quick stop for leak free disconnects when you want to add media or clean the filter, a 9 Watt Quartz tube encased integrated UV which you can turn on and off from the filter head.

9 watts of UV is is pretty close to being useless above 40 gallons. Quartz covers for UV bulbs aren't cheap the average price for a Quartz replacement tube on a 9 watt UV bulb is around $50-60. Because UV bulbs are expensive as well and usually need to be replaced every 6 months or so. The option to turn your UV on and off right from the filter head will extend the life of the bulb and never use UV on a tank that isn't fully cycled.

The filter holds a massive amount of media the five baskets are large and deep, with expandable handles so adding the media of your choice is easy as pie.

QUICK SPECS:

4+1 Stage filtration system

Capable of Mechanical, Biological, and Chemical Filtration

White enclosure

525 gals/hr (Non Certified w/media expect a loss of 30-50%)

Suitable for tanks up to 175 gal. ( This the the claim I wouldn't use this as a stand alone filter for over a 55 Gallon)

AC 110V

55 Watts

9 Watt UV Sterilizer

5ft 2in power cord with ground

Works for both fresh and saltwater tanks

18 pounds

Dimensions: 12" x 11" x 18"

Vinyl Hose Inner Diameter (ID): 3/4"

Self Priming

** Self priming filters are rarely effortless. This one is no exception and a real bear to Prime. The trick to priming these filters is not to pump the priming mechanism as the manual suggests but rather hold it down for three five minutes, release and let gravity do it's thing**

The output is strong at first. But I found the combination of water bypass and a subpar motor to slow the efficency down significantly in a very short time. I have been running a few of these and they all ended up back flushing junk into the tank. The key to avoiding this is frequent cleaning but that becomes a hasssle.

I'm often skeptical of Flow Rates unless they're certified it's all marketing jargon Consider the AquaClear 110 HOB filter it's been touting a 500 GPH since I was a kid from that tiny little motor that fits in the palm of your hand.

An eheim 1200XL with it's massive motor head is certified at 450 GPH. This is because there's no regulation hence, comapnies are free to make any claim they like. What really counts here is the "Power" of the motor that drives the pump, you can put the engine from a VW Bug into the body of a Porche but you can't expect the same perfomance.

In a very real way that's the problem with these filters, they're powerful at first but weaken very fast. Add a flimsy plastic impeller and impeller assembly as opposed to ceramic and that once strong out put becomes a weak stream. But then if Aquatop had SunSun spec in these ugrades you wouldn't be at this price point not by a long shot.

As for noise the filter is virtually silent , no hum no buzzing.

Please note the filter does not come with media. It does however, come with 5 coarse pre cut foam inserts and two ultra fine foam inserts. The ability to add five layers of filtering meadia makes this unit ideal for keeping Messy fish like Fancy Ornamental Goldfish, Oscars, Large Cichlids like Texas Reds, Midas and Flowerhorns or Arrowana and so on.

This a very decent filter for the price. Is it comparable in build quality and performanc to a Fluval FX5 or an eheim? of course not. But if you need a filter at this price point you'll be hard pressed to find a better value.

If you can stretch your budget you'll make out better in the long run with other brands but each case is different and the filter will suite your needs. Most filters offer at least 3 year warrantee you get 180 days with Aquatop. An odd number to use and weak very short term protection. I have found through personal experiance that customer support is nill to none and restricted to email only. A major drawback when problems pop up.

If you're on the fence about buying one my recommendation would be to go ahead and give it a try just understand that these filters come with some limitations that may be are hard for some to get around.

After reading product reviews from several different brands of canister filters, I was skeptical to try any of them. I decided on this Aquatop CF500UV canister filter. I have a 55 gallon tank with 1 goldfish 10 inches long, 5 goldfish ranging between 4-6 inches long, 2 bala sharks 4 inches long, 3 neon tetras, 1 pleco 13 inches long and 1 pleco 5 inches long......my tank is overstocked to say the least! Having the majority being big goldfish, you can imagine what my water quality was like.

I was running a 60 gal power filter w/standard filtration media, a 30 gal power filter with just ammonia reducing chips, a current maker, an air strip, and a heater. I've done water changes after water changes, and when that didnt control my water issues, I spent about $200.00 in additives which was only a bandaid on the fact that I have too many dirty fish crowded in the tank, nothing could keep up. My water tests came back consistently ridiculous, and its a wonder how the fish have even survived thus far.

I ordered this canister filter on Thursday afternoon and it was at my gate on Friday morning (didnt pay any expedited shipping). It even got here sooner than the other items I ordered through Amazon Prime at the same time, and you know how crazy fast those things arrive. I set it aside and planned to dive into it the following week to give myself time to research exactly how to do it since I knew I wouldnt be getting any help from the guys on this one.

Went to feed my fish Monday morning only to find the main filter had burned out sometime overnight and the water was even yuckier than ever. So... here we go I had no choice but to get this canister filter up and running THAT DAY! A little daunting at first, seeing all the parts & pieces, I read the instructions about 12 times and then had it figured out...all except the order in which to fill with media/stack the 4 huge trays inside to handle my specific water problems. I googled Aquatop to get their phone number, called them and they were more than happy to talk me through it and welcomed a call-back should I need any further assistance in assembling it. I did however, have some difficulty in priming the unit. I spent 1 1/2 hours pumping the primer button before I figured out that I could actually fill the canister 3/4 full of water then use the remaining air inside of it to actually create the suction. They warn to NOT fill the canister with water, which is true dont fill it all the way up, but filling it 3/4 of the way will save atleast an hour in pushing the button, as well as an interesting looking dot patterned bruise from having to use my forearm to push after so long. I DONT consider this a flaw in any way of the unit, more like my inexperience costing me a lot of time. After all, they did say I could call them back for tips if I had trouble priming, I just didnt want to have to juggle a phone and try to prime at the same time since I didnt have any help at home.

It comes with 4 trays inside this model, I filled my trays like this, starting from the bottom going upwards:

BOTTOM TRAY: The blue sponge it comes with at the bottom of tray and the white filter it comes with on top of that

SECOND FROM THE BOTTOM: White filter it comes with on bottom of tray, then filled this one up with rinsed carbon

THIRD FROM THE BOTTOM: White filter it comes with on bottom of tray, then filled this one up with Ammonia Remover chips (used the whole 48oz carton) You may not need this media for your situation, but I sure did.

TOP TRAY: White filter it comes with on bottom of tray, Bio-balls and ceramic rings on top. I only had 50 bio-balls which wasnt enough, Aquatop recommends ceramic rings so I filled the rest with ceramic rings (OK to mix them).

PUT TRAY COVER ON THE TOP TRAY, THEN ITS READY FOR THE CANISTER LID.....SUPER EASY & CUSTOMIZABLE

Everything done, filter running so quietly I have to lean over the unit to hear it run. Water improvement within the hour, very noticeable improvement after 4 hours and by the next morning my water is CRYSTAL CLEAR!!! Its amazing, I have never seen the water this clean since we first started the tank over a year ago. I never write reviews, but after the miracle this canister filter just performed for me, I felt I had to let others know. Especially if you have goldfish, and if you have the ammonia and nitrate problem or overall BAD water quality problem like me, this really will be the answer to your troubles. Best of all, its VERY affordable, I couldnt believe how inexpensive this unit was at $129.99. Even though I only have 55 gal, it actually has the load of atleast a 100+ gal tank right now, and these fish are still growing fast. Someday if I do manage to get a bigger tank to accomodate all these fish, I know this filter can handle it. Its rated for 175 gallon tank. I'm thinking I might even get a thank you note from my fish :) THANK YOU AQUATOP!!

I bought this filter to replace my old Eheim 2217. I have a friend that uses these so I knew what I was getting.

The filter works great. It's huge, powerful and very quiet. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with enough bio media. I added some media of my own, hooked it up and couldn't be happier.

For the price, you can't go wrong with this thing. Just make sure you are prepared to add some bio media. Pot scrubbers from the dollar store work just fine. :)

I am new to the hobby of keeping aquariums. After much research through websites like plantedtank and aquarium central I decided upon buying this canister filter. I wanted the bigger version although the smaller ones are also great for smaller tanks I hear. I wanted a good quality filter, that has a decent track record of longevity, ease of use, and won't break the bank. Many users on other aquarium enthusiast based sites have had these filters for almost 5 years now running strong, although under different names for this product which was originally called SunSun, then Perfect, then Grech, and the final incarnation to stay is Aquatop. That was a decent enough track record to me to order this filter despite how leery I was about all the product name changes.

One thing to mention from the get go. TruAqua and Amazon are shipping out "pre-tested" units I think. They come with water in the unit and some black crud sometimes. I personally do not like this as I want everything as sterile as possible when I receive a product like this. I am not sure of the tank conditions they are testing this unit on before shipping it to me. Which means if you order an Aquatop unit now be prepared for it to be wet and parts used. I contacted Amazon about this and was told they would try to fix this pretesting every unit before shipping.

As for the unit itself it is well made. It comes with some filter floss media and some blue open foam for one tray, but it won't be enough. You will need to purchase your own media to put into the trays. I suggest going to your local dollar store and picking up some plastic pot scrubbers. You'll get about 6 for a dollar. Buy 4 packages and fill one of the media baskets with pot scrubbers. You'll have to set the scrubbers on their sides to stack them all in one basket. So put the blue foam with a white filter floss in the bottom tray. For the second tray up fill that one with the pot scrubbers. For the third tray up I suggest buying some of the sintered or ceramic bio media. I picked up 3 boxes of Fluvals Biomax ceramic media. Fill a tray full of this. Last tray I bought some generic chemical media mix. It contains both activated carbon and zeolite chips. Buy some panty hose, stick the carbon and zeolite chips in the panty hose and fill the top basket full. Stick one more filter floss pad at the very top and you are done. If you need more mechanical filtration instead of the chemical filtration I would use the 100% poly cushion filler sold at walmart. You can get a big sheet that you can cut down to size for a few bucks there. Just make sure all mechanical filtration is done before the biological filtration. Except one very top filter floss which is optional.

The only downsides to this unit are the thin plastic on the input/output valves and the pieces at the other end of the hose. So be careful. Use some vaseline or a pure 100% silicon based lubricant to lube everything down. Boil some water and insert the end of the hose into the water for about 15 seconds or so. This will make it much easier to slip the hose over the barbs.

Besides the pre-testing, my only other gripe is the spray bar. It's junk. Easy to crack and a pain to install. I might be creating my own from PVC pipe in the future. I am currently using the spray bar setup that came with this unit, but it is very thin plastic. The little elbow bend pieces MUST be used, so it makes placing the bar exactly where and how I want a pain.

For $120 you get a nice big unit with plenty of room for the media baskets. The pump seems to be great. It is easy to use, silent, and most easy to setup (minus to spray bar). The flow rate is good if you set up your media properly. So far it's been working great for me since I bought it.

i ordered from tru-aqua directly from their site. i have had the filter fro about three months now. I absolutely love this thing. i have it installed on a 55 gal. aquarium with 5 angelfish and 2 plecos in it. this things output blows the plecos all over the place. but they seem to like the current. they will go up in the current and turn horizontal and let the current blow them. kinda fun to watch. i had the spray bar installed but have recently taken it out. i left the elbow on the output to flow the current down the back glass. i'm in line with the other reviews about the bio balls. i have 12 in my filter. i've been meaning to get more, just havent gotten around to it. i took off a star (read update) b/c the first unit i received the motor casing was cracked....water everywhere. emailed aquatop, along with a picture, and they quickly got me an rma. the second unit also had a broken part, again an email and pic and phone call. the overnighted the replacement part. the guy said they never had this problem. but hey i dont know. i may have gotten 2 units packaged by the same person, that may have been mad at work that day.....we ALL have bad days. one more thing....i did a major water change and cleaned the internals of the filter. i also stirred my sandy bottom. the water almost looked like milk when i went to bed. the next morning was almost back the way it was before i cleaned and stirred. my old filters would have never did that. in my opinion...GREAT BUY!!! if i still had my 28gal. up and running. i would buy the cf300 for it.....

5 STAR UPDATE-7/8/12 still loving this filter. I have had ZERO problems out of this thing, been going strong for over a year now. the UV bulb is showing wear, it may go at any time. I haven't changed any of the filter pads, I just spray them out with the water hose.

one quick tip. I did a clean today and found out the output side where the quick disconnects are there is a back flow valve. Yes I knew it was there and why. but here is what I did. I took some needle nose pliers and removed the valve. HOLY CRAP!!!! the flow is noticeably more. even my wife commented on how much more water it was moving.

SentryHOME Household Flea and Tick Spray, 20-Ounce

SentryHOME Household Flea and Tick Spray, 20-OunceAmazing product! Fleas that I had been fighting for over a month disappeared entirely within 24 hours of spraying this product. Worked awesome for hard to vacuum places like under the beds and drapes, and one can was enough for our 2000 square foot home plus both our cars. I will say to not be discouraged if you initially see more fleas on your dog than you did prior to sprayingthat's what happened within the first few hours, but the next morning they were entirely gone!! Plus, it apparently lasts quite a whileawesome to have the peace of mind.

This is the generic equivalent of a comparable Frontline product and it works! It sells for about $20 at our local PetSmart, which is who recommended it to me the first time. It worked magic last season. My neighbor and I both treated our apartments with the same can, so it goes a long way and you only need to treat once per season. I found it at Amazon for about half what I paid at PetSmart, so that is a plus. Anyhow, no matter where you buy it, you won't be sorry.

API Filstar XP Filter Super Micro-Filtration Pads, 2-Count

API Filstar XP Filter Super Micro-Filtration Pads, 2-CountStarted using these a few yrs ago. They are great but they need to be changed out pretty often.

The extra filtration these pads give vs the regular micro filtration filter is awesome. Due to the higher cost of these I use one regular and one super filtration pad.

These are fantastic pre-filters, but due to the excellent filtration, they tend to get gunked up more quickly than other filters. Highly recommended if you keep up with your tank maintenance.

Cat Mate Electromagnetic Cat Flap Brown

Cat Mate Electromagnetic Cat Flap BrownI have had a few of these doors over the years and find them to be consistently reliable. Eventually I have to replace them from use and dirt. The raccoons can still get their paws under the flap and come into the house, so I have to lock it at night. I really want a door that keeps raccoons out and lets my cat come and go at night, so I don't have to let him out every morning at 4am and back in again at 5:30 am... Still working on that though. The smaller door is good for cats up to 20lbs.

We needed a cat door for a new cedar garage door we were having installed on our home. Every pet door available was white which was wrong for our natural redwood home and the new cedar stained garage door. We were delighted to find Cat Mate Electromagnetic Cat Door came in a rich brown color. The cat door works like a charm, keeps out

raccoons, and our big Maine coon cat, Samuel, has no problem getting through it, and, the pet door doesn't ruin the appearance of our new cedar garage door.

When I saw the reviews on this product I was very excited and immediately ordered it with rush delivery. Upon recieving it the first thing I noticed was that in the unlocked position it still only opened one way. Also on exit only the magnet did not work at all. On entry only it worked for 1 second or less, locking before you could get the flap open. JUNK!

My indoor cat has yet to figure out how to pry or bat this open and my mom's outdoor cats seem to take no issue with it. My cat's name is Murphy, he's supposed to stay indoors. My mom's cat is Milo, he is allowed outside. Unfortunately, Murphy has discovered that if Milo is walking towards the door, he can put his forehead on Milo's butt and follow him out. As you can imagine, it is quite an odd sight and Milo has smacked Murphy a few times for being in his personal space but where there's a will, there's a way. My cat has found that way. Oh well. Can't wait to move.

Finnex 150-Watt Hang-On Electronic Controller Aquarium Heater, Titanium Tube, 30 to 60-Gallon

Finnex 150-Watt Hang-On Electronic Controller Aquarium Heater, Titanium Tube, 30 to 60-GallonI have a 40 gallon reservoir that I am trying to hold around 70 Degrees. The temperature controller keeps it within 2 degrees and seems to work very efficiently.

Finnex is my go-to brand for heaters, having purchased and used many of them for breeding and raised saltwater fish plus all of their live feed. I have always purchased the digital controller models with excellent results. On this model, however, the heating tube stopped working within about 2 months, but the controller continued to work. Unfortunately, it got quite cold in my tank before I noticed.

I assumed the heater was the same except for the controller. Either this is not the case, I got a dud, or Finnex is just not building them like they used to.

I'd give this unit '0' stars if I could!

I have wasted my money on two of these units. I thought it was a nice feature to have the temperature control on the outside of my tank. Nice idea but the unit only works correctly for a very short time, (2-3 months at best). I expected allot more for an aquarium heater as expensive as this one. When the first unit failed, I thought maybe I just had a "Lemon". Now that the second unit has failed as well, I know this is what you get with this product. I was lucky to not loose any fish because I monitor the temperature regularly. Good thing, or I would have cooked my fish. THIS HEATER IS JUNK! Don't waste your money. Don't expect any help from Finnex. All they do is give you the run-around! I will never buy a Finnex product again.

This heater worked fine for the first month or so after I bought it. Then it started heating my tank to 90+ degrees when I had it set for 72. It has completely lost the ability to regulate its output. Do not buy this if you would like to keep your fish from bing cooked.

Lee's Five-Way Breeder

Lee's Five-Way BreederTrap holes are to large. Fry get stuck in holes or just go thru into main tank. Bottom blocking floor holes cover floats up and down with water movement killing baby fish. Come on people this isnt rocket science. Build them better.

I actually purchased this with the plan of using it as an in-tank refugium (salt-water tank), and it looks like it will be just fine for what I want it to do. In fact, with the way it sits in the tank, I might be tempted to start growing some Mangroves out of it as well. The one thing that kind of bugs me is the "hooks": they're nice because you can bend them to your tank rim, but they're a little short which doesn't leave much room for height/depth adjustability. Plus, the way the box attaches to the hooks (just sits on their via slots on the back), isn't all that secure; especially since the box floats a tiny bit with the current. So if the manufacturer provided a rigid box-to-hook connection and gave anywhere from 3-6 inches more length for the hooks (would also allow me to create extra bends, which would also allow the box to sit flatter against the glass...hopefully), I would give this 5 stars, but currently, I'll stick with my slightly generous 4 star rating.

Lambert Kay Fresh 'N Clean Pet Odor Absorber, Green Tea and Sage Scent, 16-Ounce

Lambert Kay Fresh 'N Clean Pet Odor Absorber, Green Tea and Sage Scent, 16-OunceI have this Pet Odor Absorber in my spare room where I am fostering a mom cat and her 3 kittens.
