Pet Kelp Joint and Bone Formula

Pet Kelp Joint and Bone FormulaOur 15 year old dog has really bad issues with his hips, and this product has made a great difference in his mobility. He still has issues, but he gets around better, and seems to be in less pain. I would definitely suggest anyone with a senior pet try this out if they have joint issuesit made quite a difference in our guy's life.

We just finished the bag of skin and coat formula of pet kelp and now we are starting the joint and bone bag if it works as nicely as the skin and coat, then we will be ordering again!

I have a dog Beagle/Terrier mix she weighs little over 20lb.

The direction on the back says to feed 1Tsp for her weight.

I mainly feed my dog dry food so following the direction on the back I had to mix the Pet Kelp with water. This product isn't a powder like so it doesn't mix well like corn starch; it is more like a grounded black pepper that is green so most of the stuff settles to the bottom. The smell of this product is little like seaweed.

when I gave my dog the mix, I noticed she didn't like the smell and try to flip the bowl with her nose.

I had a good laugh but trying to feed her this product was hard. Only way I can get her to eat was when I mixed it with peanut butter or mayo; some other mixture to cover the smell of this product. And their website says "Best of all, every pet we know LOVES the taste"

If you feed your dog canned food I guess it will be okay.

As for the helping on the joint and bone, I will update after month.

Jungle PL720-8W Pond Algae Relief, 8-Ounce, 236-ml

Jungle PL720-8W Pond Algae Relief, 8-Ounce, 236-mlAfter struggling with green water for a few weeks this spring and attempting to determine whether pollen or algae was the culprit, I picked up a bottle of this on a whim and I've got to say, I am super impressed. Turned my 300 gallon pond from a murky brown-green to almost crystal clear in 20 minutes. You'll probably need a UV Clarifier for long term control, but this will definitely stop your algae problem fast.

Update: If you use this product you need to monitor your ammonia levels very closely. I am a newbie to the fish pond world, and learned the hard way that a rapid kill-off of the algae will skyrocket your ammonia levels. Test ammonia in the following days after using this product and correct with ammonia decreasing products or you'll risk losing some fish.

I'm unclear weather it's ok for plant use. Your review states it's NOT safe for plants, but the bottle says it IS. What gives?

Aqua Ultraviolet AAV40002 Part Lamp End for Aquarium, 8 to 57-watt

Aqua Ultraviolet AAV40002 Part Lamp End for Aquarium, 8 to 57-wattI bought this when my UV lamps stopped working. It has 4 holes on the back, but the original had only 2 holes. With no instructions, and only 2 wires to insert I tried it, but it didn't work. In the end, I bought a new ballast and cable set, which fixed the problem properly. I wouldn't buy this part unless you really know how to use it.

Eshopps Square Large Foam - 13 1/2 in. x 4 in. x 2 1/4 in.I bought this after upgrading my sump pump and with the increased flow, it created microbubbles and it filled in the gap. Not only did stop the bubbles but helps with filtration.

Foam block is smaller than adveritizied. As a result it does not fit the space and water bypasses foam block. Would not purchase Eshopps products again.

All Glass Aquarium AAG29051 Versa Top for 36 by 18-Inch tank.

All Glass Aquarium AAG29051 Versa Top for 36 by 18-Inch tank. These glass tops are very high quality. The only issue is the image is misleading. The image shows the 36x18 glass top that does not require a center brace but what you actually recieve is 2 18x18 sections for tanks that have a center brace. Unfortunatly that doesn't work for me but it is not the fault of the product.

While you do receive a glass top, the one I received was defective. Or, it may have an undocumented feature it was designed for a braced aquarium.

Buy All Glass Aquarium AAG29051 Versa Top for 36 by 18-Inch tank. Now

I ordered this Versa Top with plans to use it with my 36"x18" 40g breeder tank. What they do not tell you about this product is it is for the FIFTY and SIXTY gallon breeder tanks and not the 40. It comes in 2 18"x18" pieces of glass that expect your tank to have a center brace and not 1 solid 18"x36" as the description of the item would lead you to believe. When I messaged the seller they refused to replace or swap out the item and I had to go through amazon directly to have things fixed. Ended up ordering the proper Versa Top from my local fish store for HALF the price.

The page says it is a 36x18" or size 30/40 breeder all glass versa top. You will receive an All-glass "braced" versa top for 50/65 gallon tanks.

I was kinda nervous about all the other customer reviews saying its not worth buying, doesnt work, and etc...overall this light is nice and works great.i would recommend this to anybody with a saltwater tank.

I have used these bulbs on 4 different tank setups for plants and have saw how they grow plants first hand. These are the only ones I have ever used, so I have nothing to compare them to besides theirselves but out of 3 years and 12 bulbs changing yearly, I had only one incident that one needed to be replaced early because it burnt out after only a month.

The Walmart Magnets where not as powerful and would fall off. But this Product is most excellent. The Magnets are very powerful, so much so that I smashed My Fingers with it once, and bruised them up so buyer beware, keep this product away from children!! As it can cause severe pain if your fingers get caught in the middle of the powerful snapping magnets while they Attract. Its perfect for Large Aquariums I recommend this product to all aquarium keepers!!

I wasn't sure what I could expect but this item really works well. It's super powerful! I can make it follow the one from the outside to switch sides and you can really feel it pull. I use it on my 75 gallon. I would be careful though toward the bottom of your tank only because if you catch any gravel you'd definitely scratch your tank.

API Nitrate Test Kit

API Nitrate Test KitDoes what it says. I wish the color gradient was a bit easier to distinguish but that's a minor nit.

Important information:

I was instructed by the Local Fish Store and people in my aquatic club to shake the 2nd bottle for more than 20 seconds closer to 1-2 minutes before using. If you don't shake it well enough, it will not provide an accurate level of your NO3 levels. I did a test and there was a difference Per instructions it displayed an incorrectly low NO3 level, shaking it longer gave a higher NO3 level.

I have used API tests for years and have always had reliable test results. (tested against other brands) the color is hard to read on the high end of this test as the color differences are minimal but keeping up with your tank it is not an issue.

I wish that the time it takes to do this test was condensed (drops in from bottle #1 shake tube. shake bottle #2 30 seconds. drops in from #2. cap tube shake for 1 minute, let sit 5 minutes ... read results. but all in all like API and their water tests.

Buy API Nitrate Test Kit Now

Had another kit that did not work at all. This one works great! Don't be confused by the picture though, this is only the Nitrate test the only one I needed. If you're looking for ammonia and nitrite too, you might want to just buy a kit.

Read Best Reviews of API Nitrate Test Kit Here

I've always used the test tubes over the dip strips when it comes to testing my aquarium water, simply because they take MUCH longer to run out (which is a big deal when you're testing four aquariums). Also, a lot of authors of many of the aquarium books and magazine articles I've read consider them more accurate the other conventional forms of water testing (though I find that the test strips really aren't all THAT far off and the difference is neglegible). I origninally purchased the product as a kit with all the other stuff over two years ago before I FINALY ran out so it lasts a long time. I would definately recommend this product.

Want API Nitrate Test Kit Discount?

If you have an aquarium, you must have this, you have to monitor nitrates. I've been I the hobby many decades and API is a quality brand and I like the straight forward directions that are simplified on the back of the color chart and then more detail on the extended directions. You should also only use test kits that have an date code/ expiration date on the bottle.

Fluval Pressurized 88g-CO2 Kit - 3.1 Ounces

Fluval Pressurized 88g-CO2 Kit - 3.1 Ounces*Update: Over the course of the past few years I have gone from having one aquarium to six. Each are planted five of which are heavily so and make use of injected CO2.

As such, and as much as I like the Fluval 88G system, it would have cost anywhere from about $700 $1200 a year (depending on where I purchased the 88g refill cartridges which can range from about $12 $20 each) to utilize pressurized injected CO2 for all of these aquariums.

So I decided to try the fermentation method of producing CO2 again. I now use a different yeast (SAF) which at .23 an ounce vs $3.50 an ounce for the Fleishmann's that I was using) is very affordable.

The DIY CO2 mixture that I use is: 2 cups of sugar, a heaping teaspoon of SAF yeast, a 2 liter plastic soda bottle filled 3/4 of the way with warm tap water.

This mixture provides a consistent flow of CO2 (1 bubble every 3 seconds after the initial few days of a few bubbles a second) for three weeks (three times longer than the same mixture with Fleishmann's yeast lasted).

The annual cost for five planted tanks, including yeast and sugar is about $100. When compared to the $700 $1200 figure for the small CO2 canisters, going to the trouble of making this CO2 mixture is certainly worth it.

The fact that it is also consistent means that the PH fluctuations that I had when using the Fleishmann's is no longer an issue.

If I only had one aquarium, I'd probably still be using the Fluval 88G setup, since it's both aesthically pleasing and convenient to use. It also does an excellent job of growing your plants.

However, with 5 high-tech planted tanks, a reliable DIY CO2 system just makes a lot more sense for me.

Earlier review:

Ever since I became familiar with Takashi Amano's contributions to the fishkeeping/aquascaping hobby, I have been a greater admirer of this talented man.

However, his product line, while excellent, is very expensive, and out of the reach of many newby fishkeepers who are learning the ropes of what can be both a very enjoyable, yet expensive hobby.

Fluval's CO2 88 kit does a very good job at what it's designed to do get people who want to successfully grow plants in their aquariums to invest in a pressurized CO2 injection system.

Here, the Fluval CO2 88 kit does not disappoint. It is well designed, comes with a CO2 regulator, a diffuser, an 88 gram disposable canister of CO2, a bubble counter, and enough tubing to set this system up in your aquarium.

Depending on the size of your aquarium and turning the system off at night, you can expect to get anywhere from one to two months from a single CO2 canister, which works out to about $5 $10 a month; depending on where you purchase your three pack of CO2 88 replacements.

Don't even bother buying the single CO2 88 canister since it is a complete ripoff at the price most retailers charge for it.

As for the 88 gram CO2 cylinders, while they are more expensive per ounce of CO2 than purchasing a larger CO2 canister (even though the initial cost of the larger canister is much more expensive), it is still cost effective for many aquarists.

Especially when Fluval's CO2 88 system is on sale, as it was when this author purchased mine a few months ago, for $36 at Doctors Foster & Smith.

When considering that the Amano top line CO2 kit sells for $249 for what is essentially a slightly better quality CO2 regulator, the Fluval CO2 88 represents a significant value.

At the $36 price, the Fluval CO2 88 kit also represents excellent value against competitors like Pierce's own CO2 kit, as well as Green Leaf Aquarium's similar CO2 setup.

Other companies have seen the sense in marketing a small CO2 canister system as well, including newcomer ISTA, which sells a few different CO2 systems; ISTA's entry level CO2 system is almost identical to that of Fluval's CO2 88, and its Pierce and GLA rivals all of which are priced similarly.

Even at $75, Fluval's CO2 88 system is competitive, and a lot easier to use than having to recharge a yeast based system every week or so; not to mention that the yeast based system is extremely unstable, causing large swings in the ph in your aquarium, which can be harmful to your fish and other fauna.

The Fluval CO2 88 is simple to setup, and the bubble counter makes adjusting the flow of CO2 a breeze. It adjusts the bubble count as well if not better than my Milwaukee MA 957 regulator, and at less than half the price.

Just make sure that when you screw the CO2 canister onto the CO2 88's regulator, that you don't over tighten it. Simply screw it on until you hear the CO2 canister pierce, and then just another half a turn or so.

Also, remember not to remove the CO2 canister until all of the CO2 has been used, otherwise the regulator may blow off the canister causing injury.

The best way to ensure the CO2 canister is empty is to open the regulator valve all the way when the gauge reads empty, just to make certain that if there is any remaining CO2 in the canister, it is expelled into your aquarium.

This way you avoid any chance of injury.

This is a well thought out product that offers a viable alternative to more expensive CO2 systems, as well as the erratic and time consuming fermentation method for creating CO2.

This author enthusiastically recommends the Fluval CO2 88

kit for the fishkeeper on a budget, who seeks to successfully grow plants in their aquarium.

Keep in mind that these smaller canister kits should be used on small aquariums (ranging in size from nano aquariums up to about 20 gallons), since you will be using up canisters on a weekly basis if you use these systems on larger aquariums, and thus spending a lot more money each month to maintain them.

For the larger aquarium owner, while it may be expensive short term, it is far more cost effective to invest in a larger CO2 canister in the long run (2.5 lbs. 5 lbs. 10 lbs. or 20 lbs.), at which point it makes sense to put your own system together.

This system is comprised of a CO2 canister, regulator, solenoid, bubble counter, CO2 checker, check valve and tubing.

If you leave your CO2 on at night, a PH checker like the one offered by Milwaukee for about $100, can be incorporated into your regulator, to shut the regulator off when the PH gets to a preset number.

However, if you turn your CO2 off at night, the PH checker is unnecessary, so you can save yourself $100 here.

As for CO2 systems, it is a good idea to purchase a CO2 checker for your aquarium, just so you can determine if your CO2 levels are adequate.

Again, we have a significant disparity in the price of these items, with companies like Azoo and Red Sea offering them for about $10, while Cal Aqua Labs and Aqua Design Amano (ADA) offer better quality CO2 checkers for about $50 each.

The latter are aesthetically more pleasing to the eye, however, probably don't do any better job than the Azoo and Red Sea CO2 drop checkers.

The key in obtaining good results here is in using water that is 4DKH. Before you spend any money purchasing a bottle of 4DKH solution, if you own a water hardness test

kit, test you water to determine its DKH level.

If it is 4 DKH you can use some of your tank's water in your drop checker, than add the reagent solution to establish how many PPM's of CO2 are in your tank.

This way you save yourself about $7 by not having to purchase a bottle of 4DKH solution.

This author has noticed that when I turn the CO2 system in my 20 gallon long tank off at night, the drop checker turns blue, however, turns green in the morning after the CO2 has been turned back on for awhile.

Hats off to Red Sea for manufacturing an inexpensive drop checker that does its job well, and to Fluval, for making it easy to buy a well thought out and affordable pressurized CO2 system for one's aquarium.

awesome product. had no problem assembling everything. I've never had a true co2 setup with a large co2 bottle and expensive regulators and i don't think I'll ever need one with this setup. you do have to manually turn it off and adjust the flow rate every time u turn it on but all it takes is to turn one knob, very simple! one flaw I've found with this kit however is the diffuser. it easily gets clogged somehow and will blow your line right out. toss it and get a glass diffuser. that's why i give product 4 stars instead of 5. my system have been up and running for just over a month now and the gauge is still halfway. my plants definitely appreciate it and are growing out of control now.

Originally I had stated "It is sad to see someone selling something on amazon like this at almost twice the price of other retailers."

The price is not what it was when I originally posted the review. The price is now in line with other pricing.

Good product with decent construction, CO2 canisters last a little more than a month at 1 bps and shutting it off at night.

This has been working great and the plants in my 29 gal are actually growing now. The CO2 bottles seem to be lasting a long time, as I am into a month of injecting CO2 now and I've not noticed much drop in pressure.

Want Fluval Pressurized 88g-CO2 Kit - 3.1 Ounces Discount?

This product has the Ability to perform well, but it also is not the most user friendly equipment.

The diffuser is very bad, but most folks end up buying the glass ones, at least the ones i've seen, and seem happy with it. So despite it's meant to be an essential part of the kit, it can be easily and readily replaced.

The bubble counter feels sturdy, but I end up not using it very much because it was a pain to set up and couldn't be placed anywhere on the tank without it just flipping off due to the tension of the tubings. I suppose it can be useful if you trimmed all the tubing to the exact needed lengths.

The regulator works very well when it's working, and can drive a sane man mad when it's not. As it turned out, for me, it was a slow pressure meter that made me think the cartridge was not punctured when it actually was. But when I figured out that the cartridge pierces fairly easily. I simply ignored the meter and things seems to work fine.

The dial take some getting use to, but I just parked my favoriate spot (out flow) with a marker and used that as a guideline.

The cartridges are pricy, but for a 15gallon tank, and used conservatively, I made last a month. But when I dialed it up a bit, it quickly ran out in two weeks.

Since this, I've actually bought myself a co2 regulator for a 5lb tank. And so I will be retiring this system. But over all, if used correctly, I works very well.

A side note to those who are having problems with piercing the cartridge, I'm not a strong person by any means, but I can pierce it with my bare hands. So if you find yourself using a clamp and wrenches, you are trying too hard.

Mardel CopperSafe Fish Treatment (Freshwater/Saltwater), 16-Ounce

Mardel CopperSafe Fish Treatment, 16-OunceThis stuff is great. I don't consider it a treatment as in only use when your fish is infected. I use this more as a preventive. Meaning I use this all of the time with my fish. Granted I usually keep Cichlid fish that are more hardy than most fish. I feed my fish lots of live food so keeping my fish free from parasites is a must. Coppersafe is pretty safe on fish that aren't sensitive or delicate. Yes if your water supply is heavy on copper you do need to watch out. The below user who rated this at 2 stars may live in an area where his local water supply is polluted with copper. I usually use 75% of the recommended dose as to keep from overdosing. Testing your water for copper is recommend wether or not your using Copper Safe. Bottom line is I've been doing this for years and my father before I used Copper Safe before my birth and this is some damed good stuff.

If used as directed, it does keep the nasties out of the fish tank. I have been using it for years, and it always helped. Read the instructions carefully before applying. It helps to estimate how much volume of the fish tank is taken up by gravel and ornaments, because if one does not consider that, it is easy to overdose. Adjust the quantity of CopperSafe, considering the volume that is NOT water.

Buy Mardel CopperSafe Fish Treatment (Freshwater/Saltwater), 16-Ounce Now

I have been using copper safe for years because it's such a great value in my opinion. It lasts and works for 30 days, so you can add fish to the aquarium while the tank is being treated to ensure you are not bringing more problems into the tank. I also like it because it removes chlorine and the filters do not have to come out as long as the filters with carbon are older than 5 days. The larger size it the best value for me as I have many larger tanks and the special design in the bottle makes it easier to measure and keep track. Although it is blue in color, it does NOT change the color of the water in the tank. Copper safe gets rid of a lot of diseases for your fish especially the most common ICK or white spot disease. I hope this helps my fellow aquarium enthusiests, Enjoy! :)

Read Best Reviews of Mardel CopperSafe Fish Treatment (Freshwater/Saltwater), 16-Ounce Here

This product is effective but lacks a bunch of information. I used this product throughout a 2 week ich battle. This medicine is very effective, combined with salt, heat treatment and 25% water changes. The white spots on my tetras were disappearing every 2-3 days until the 2nd week it was all gone.

This product claims not to affect your biological filter or alter your water levels. When using this, my water levels never changed and my tank remained perfectly cycled. It only raised my pH a little bit. It is still a good idea to test and monitor your water during treatment.

Copper is a STRONG medication, be very careful not to overdose. Before starting your treatment it is best to get some paper and record the start of your treatment and how much you have been dosing your aquarium.

You will want to do a 25% water change before the treatment. Once accomplished, Use half the recommended dose of copper and monitor your fish for atleast an hour before adding more. If they start showing signs of stress, immediately do a water change but if they are acting normal use the full recommended dose. It is important to use the full dosage if possible to maximize the strength of the medication for killing ich parasites which will be a pain to get rid of the longer they stay alive.

Once you notice a couple white spots disappearing, it's very important to do a 25% water change to remove the ich in its free swimming stage. Don't forget to replace the copper medicine each water change.

To maximize effectiveness, you should turn up the heat slowly 1-2 degrees every hour until you reach a temperature of 85-88 degrees. If your fish are gasping for air the temp is too high. Add 1 Tablespoon of aquarium salt per 10 gallons of water will also help your fish relax and breath properly during treatment.

Warning: Do not use salt if your fish are scaleless. That goes for catfish, loaches etc. (Do research on your fish)

To those who read this, please let me know if my review was helpful at all. Thanks!

Snoozer-Luxury Lookout I Dog Car Seat - Medium/Anthracite

Snoozer Luxury I Lookout Pet Car Seat, Medium, Olive MuttMy 5 lb. five month old puppy loves it because he can look out the window both in our house and in the car. He uses it as a bed in the house as well. I am ordering another one so that we can leave it in one of our cars. We got him used to it by leaving it in the house next to the window before we used it in the car. He took to it right away in the car because he was used to it in the house. It is obviously not as safe as a child's seat, but it is much safer for everyone rather than just having him "loose" in the car.

I bought two of these car seats for my 13 lb Bichon Frise and my 9 pound Maltese-Shih Tzu mix. The Snoozer Luxury Lookout gives them the perfect boost so that they can stick their head out the window and stay aware of all of the sights and smells going on around them! I am not too fond of the harness strap that comes with the car seat and the overall build of the seat is nice, but doesn't exactly say "I paid $150 for this", but what can you do? Overall it does the job and the pillow top keeps my babies comfortable and happy. I don't think I've seen them sleep so much on the road! Happy dogs=happy dog parent.

Then, after some time, I eventually found that you could force/shove the 1.5" Corrugated tubing through the intake hole without any of the adapters! Now I have a nice, clean, & powerful Waterfall! No visible leaks from the tubing and intake hole. I placed some of the pond liner underneath the waterfalls and sloped it down so any leakage from the intake would flow back into the pond, just in case. My Koi are happily swimming around the pond and the water is nice & clear! And, you could also use lava rocks for the biomedia bag that they provide, it is much cheaper.

After 2 other type filters, I like this one much more. Makes a great waterfall, and the filter never slows down the flow. Unlike other filters that can get dirty and stop filtering, leaving your motor to burn up or worse, this one filters the water from the bottom up, and the filter (with lava rocks, not included)will just rise up and let the water bypass it when it gets full of scum. Easy to lift the rocks and filter off the top while the water still flows, no lids to unscrew, or hoses to remove. I wish that the water intake was at the front of the filter instead of the back, forcing you to run a line around back and trying to hid it. Also wish it could be half the price, but am still very happy with it. My koi pond is around 1000 to 1200 gallons, and this filter works great.

I put in a small pond last year with a box filter that just never cleaned well. I added another small pond this year and bought the waterfall filter for it. It's a great filter, was a breeze to assemble and install, it works as advertised and is just what I wanted.

Very easy to set up. Came with 1" and 1.25" intake valves. Large vortex chamber where the water spins to remove large debris, and a fiber pad to remove the smaller stuff. It does come with a large mesh bag to hold bio-media, but you need to add your own. Long spillway for easier concealing, and the spillway has 3 ridges on the underside to help with dripping. I am happy with my purchase.

I thought this would be a small skimpy thing, not so! I'd have to say save your money, don't buy the 2-300 waterfall filters, this one is amazing, and HUGE!!

it has enough room for the foam round mat at the bottom, a full bag of media a(insides of a new pillow) and topped off with lava type media...and room left on top to throw water hyacinths so they have time to grow their roots back, giving it even more filtration bang, I think for 63$, no pond owner can go wrong with this, within days of installing this an my new 18 watt UV clarifier, my water was sooo clear I could count the rocks on the bottom(4 foot deep pond), simply amazing!

And my KOI are more active and vibrant than before!

A+ product.

cons: comes covered with stickers, a real pain to get off, but this is definitely worth every penny and then some!!!

Como Soft Silicone Colored Ball Fuchsia Plant Flower Ornament for Fish Tank

Como Soft Silicone Colored Ball Fuchsia Plant Flower Ornament for Fish TankI decided after a lot of deliberation and research that i wanted to get a silicone plant for my betta because of his delicate fins. I looked all around for a fun little plant and then i came across this vibrant, fun anemone. At first my betta seemed a little apprehensive. But after a day he was sleeping in it and swimming through it. Its perfect for him and he seems to like it a lot!

KollerCraft AQUARIUS AquaView 360 Aquarium Kit with LED Light - 2-Gallon

KollerCraft AQUARIUS AquaView 360 Aquarium Kit with LED Light - 2-GallonI really like this little tank. I've just finished setting it up and haven't any fish in it yet, but the tank itself is a little beauty! The lid is easy to remove if you put you finger back behind where the little cut-out for the air hose goes. However there is a little hole at the front of the lid that I think I can drop food in when I feed my little critters so I won't have to be removing the lid that much. I removed one of the perforated areas in the back of the lid (there are two of them) so the top of the little 25w heater can poke out. The color variations are a delight and I'm really pleased I went ahead and purchased this.

EDIT!!!! My tank has been set up now for almost a week. My beta is in there and happy, but, please do not buy this tank. The other reviews that mentioned the faulty light are correct. The light is now shorting out! There is water in the light. The light changes color on it's own, then the light will totally shut off, then back on, then different colors, then off again. Finally I just took the light out and will buy a new tank.

Please note, Amazon was great and tried to help with this situation. They offered a replacement, but I don't want the same tank. They offered a refund if I send the tank back, they have tried in every way possible to rectify this situation, so again, I'm happy I shop on Amazon. But please do not buy this tank, I believe it's dangerous. Water and electricity do not mix well!

The tank is just as advertised. My betta LOVES it! In his half gallon enclosure he was just sitting at the bottom all the time with his fins folded up. In this one, he's always on the move and strutting his stuff. Its really nice to look at and the different lighting modes are neat too. There's no filter so keep an eye on ammonia levels!

UPDATE: I am sorry to say I have to downgrade my initial review. I originally gave this 5 stars but now I cannot. The hood light is the worst design I have ever seen. Its is not remotely waterproof and after 2 months, not only did the nuts and bolts which hold it together rust and break apart, but water can easily get inside, just from minor spatting from the air bubbler. I noticed that the lights were flickering, so I took a look. The unit practically fell apart in my hand due to corroded bolts. There was water inside the bulb assembly. No gaskets or sealed electronics of any sort. Portions of the printed circuit board had its insulation burned away due to arcing. Being somewhat savvy, I was able to repair it, but then had to put a clear plastic condom over it to keep it dry. Just a terrible design.

I just want to share my method for keeping water out of the light. Use petroleum jelly on the seams of the plastic part of the light exposed to water. It's not an accident your lights start to do wierd things. water will get in there if you dont waterproof it. I have a three gallon and a two gallon on the way. They are cool little tanks.

This 2-gallon tank was purchased for my betta, Lashes, and it turned out to be perfect. I love the look of the bubbles, especially under the changing color of the lights, however, I ended up taking the whole thing out, because I wanted to be able to fit a Hagen Elite Underwater Mini Filter, UL Listed, an Elite Submersible Preset Heater Mini, 25-Watt, as well as some plants. With the air tube right in the middle of the tank, I would not have been able to fit everything in. Plus, bettas don't need aeration anyway, so I figured she wasn't missing out on much.

One downside of this tank is that there is always condensation around the tank above the water level. I also don't use the feeding hole to feed her. I prefer using the hole to lift the lid with my index finger and feed her that way.

For those who mentioned having a difficult time opening the lid, you can also lift it from the back or wedge the nail of your thumb between the edge of the tank and lid, and then lift.

I read some reviews by others who have said the air pump is too loud. When I had used it during my initial set-up, I had placed the pump on top of a folded piece of paper towel and that actually reduced the noise level.

As others have said, the undergravel filter that comes with the package is not a real filter, so it is pretty much useless in my opinion. It just takes up more space in the tank.

Coralife 05508 Mini Flourescent Colormax Lamp, 10-Watt

Coralife 05508 Mini Flourescent Colormax Lamp, 10-WattI have had aquariums all my life since five years of age, when my uncle bought me a 15-liter (5-gallon) plexiglass aquarium and introduced me to fishkeeping. For most of my aquariums, I normally used fluorescent lamps. Because I moved to the U.S. and my new job requires a lot of travel, I have forgotten about fishkeeping for a while.

Recently I decided to get a small aquarium for my 2-year-old son. I bought a 10-gallon (38-liter) aquarium starter kit with everything, including a hood and light. The light came with two 15 watt incandescent bulbs. The incandescent bulbs (30 watts together) were heating the small aquarium water up to 29C (84F) during the day. On top of that, too powerful light will cause algae to grow quickly. As a general rule, 0.5 watt of light per liter is a right choice. In other words, my 38 liter (10-gallon) aquarium would need no more than 20 watt (not 30 watt) bulbs altogether. So I've found this 10 watt Aqueon Coralife Mini Fluorescent Colormax Lamp on amazon and ordered only one to test it first.

When I received the bulb, I decided to compare the fluorescent with incandescent, so I put one of each on the light. You could definitely tell the difference: fluorescent gives a nice brighter light (despite being 5 watts lower powered than incandescent), while the incandescent bulb was giving a yellowish light. The aquarium water seems cleaner with the light coming from this bulb. I have also posted a photo of this under customer images: http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media/permalink/mo2BEZRXVJR51QA/B0002AQ444/ref=cm_ciu_images_pl_link

Apart from keeping the water temperature lower and giving bright light, fluorescent lamps consume less energy, which is great.

As some customers noted, this is just one bulb, not two as pictured. Make sure you choose the right bulb: colormax bulb gives nice bright (white) light, while the 50/50 bulb from what I have read gives ultraviolet (blue) light. I never liked those ultraviolet bulbs because especially if you have plants as I do, blue light makes your underwater garden look weird.

So far I am happy with the purchase. I have just ordered the second one, so I could use on the other side of the hood. I wish these bulbs did not cost as much, and I wish that they were sold at local stores.

I used these bulbs to replaced the regular incandescent bulbs that were supplied with my 10 gallon fish tank starter kit (freshwater tank). These bulbs are considerably brighter than the bulbs supplied with my kit. The coloring of the fish was obviously enhanced when viewed under these bulbs and my fish looked more like they did in the fish store when I purchased them.

As for temperature, I have not seen obvious increases in water condensation or salt build up on the clear plastic under my hood, directly beneath these bulbs. Further, I have not seen any obvious increase in algae growth.

Again, these bulbs are very bright and you may want to consider replacing your bulbs one at a time with these so the fish can acclimate.

Shipping was on time with no problems.

Perfect.

Okay, so I have been google-ing more information about Coralife Colormax bulbs and if they work with planted aquariums but could NOT find any info so decided to purchase one anyway. Well, it works alright, it keeps plants alive and growing (my anacharis plants grow about maybe an inch or two weekly). The color is not as bright as you would expect to see (compared to that of a 6500k bulb), also the leaves on my anacharis plants do look vivid green, however, my plants could look a lot more "alive" or "happier". While I do like the color it gives off, many people do seem to dislike the dimmer color it gives off, however, perhaps if paired with a 6500k CFL, that works just great. I recommend this CLF light bulb for a low light planted aquarium, however, if you are looking for more live looking plants I say just skip this bulb and go for a 6500k CFL instead.

It's good product to use for aquarium light.

Because my light hood only takes blubs so I had terrible finding one but here it is.

It' gives purplish white color but it's better looking then full white spectrum light.

Recommand this light blub for your tank!

I got this bulb to replace incandescent bulb that came with my small 10gal fish tank. This bulb was a really great upgrade as it improved the brightness but was not too much. I was initially considering going with LED but getting the right size was an issue and so was the cost; this bulb did the trick. If you have fish that doesn't like bright light or there aren't enough plants in your tank, you should consider getting some shelter for your fish if you upgrade to this bulb. I would not recommend getting anything brighter if you're looking for a bulb for a 10gal tank. This bulb may be too bright for a smaller tank so make you decision based on the kind of fish you have.

Natural Elements Chain Sword - Layered Bush - 13 in.

Natural Elements Chain Sword - Layered Bush - 13 in.This artificial plant was nicely packaged and delivered on time. This plant has a very nice green color and looks good in my aquarium. It flows well with the current and has a nice large footprint so smaller fish can use it for shelter when they feel the need. This is a nice plant that draws comments from most that look at the aquarium. Well worth the cost and I'd recommend for your home aquarium!
