Buy Como 14 Pcs Emulational Heart Style Leaves Flower Decor Plants for Fish Tank Now
This is a great deal for someone like myself who is starting out a new tank and doesnt want to invest a lot of money right from the start. I used about 1/2 of the plants along with some other decorations I purchased. If I needed more I would certainly buy these again. The only one I think is very unrealistic is a pink flower, it just looks fake, the leaves on it look good though so I just pulled the flower off and used the leaves. The plants are nice but could use more foilage on some of the pieces. Will be willing to order them again.Want Como 14 Pcs Emulational Heart Style Leaves Flower Decor Plants for Fish Tank Discount?
High quality plants, look good and pretty realistic for plastic. The ceramic bases hold the plants down so they aren't all floating around the top of the tank when my cichlids unbury them. The only thing I would change is have them all green, or all mixed colors. The orange ones are a little hard to fit in with the rest of the decor.Monday, May 12, 2014

New Life Spectrum Cichlid Formula - 2270 g
No fillers here and the fish thrive on it.
Although I bought this for the Cichlid's, they've gotten too big for the small pellets. However, the Tiger Barbs love it.excellent food, the fish devour it in seconds, but my advice is if you have large fish, buy the 3mm is best for adult cichlids.

i use NLS for all my fish. makes all the colors pop and keeps them looking super healthy. doenst cloud the water, as long as you dont over feed them. anything will cloud the water if it sits there for awhile. i feed them enough food so that its all eaten within 30s. I have a 210g south/central american tank, 70g african tank, 20g african fry tank. wont use anything else but NLS.Read Best Reviews of New Life Spectrum Cichlid Formula - 2270 g Here

Lifegard Aquatics Digital Temp Alert
Buy Lifegard Aquatics Digital Temp Alert Now
Tough to rate as it seems to be accurate enough but that is not the end of the story. The device display is quite over sized at approximately 4"x4", which for many will be a benefit as the display digit readout numbers are over 1" tall. But with the logo in pink and bold white thick type, it takes on a toy-like quality and looks cheap....which it's not. That said, that's all about personal preference.
My problem is more about the cord length on the probe. At 39", far too short for me. I'm using a 65 gallon tank that's 24" tall. OK, so if I place the probe 12" into the water... and want to wall-mount the display (it comes with a wall bracket for that purpose), I'm stretching the cord to get it where I want it and also creating a hazard. Not good.
So, I bought a different brand (Lab Safety Supply, Inc. part #148464) sold here and elsewhere for about $22 that has a waterproof probe and a very ample cord. Very compact and professional unit and that also has hi/low temp alerts but for the probe only (which for most people does the job just fine).
Lifegard could do much better on this one. Please make your cord longer.

The thermometer worked fine for about 2 years, but now the in-tank temperature reads about 8-10 degrees F too high. I contacted the manufacturer to request a replacement but was denied as the product only carries a 1-year warranty. I use this one on my 90 gal show tank. works great with no problems. Its large and stands out a little, but I can see it from across the room. :-)Monday, March 24, 2014

Work as intended. They will need to be cut down to use with the Phosban 150 model, but doing it is easy. Just measure the size holes needed, and cut along the grid to get it perfect every time.It gives a great flow for bio pellets, or stuff of that style, but make sure you use the sponges if you are using a GFO media as these create too much of a flow and are not fine enough to keep the media in the chamber.

Finnex Temperature Controller Electronic Heater
from a large pet supply chain store. Initially it was 4 degrees F hotter
than its settings, and a few weeks later, by the time I bought this controller,
it would vary up to 10 degrees more before I manually modulated it (plug/unplug).
After adding this controller, the tank's water temperature stays contant
within 0-1 degree F. Setting on the dial is about 2F lower than my
thermometer's reading, but that's easy to deal with. This setup will work
as long as your heater produces full heat on one of its sensible settings.
If my heater completely fails to heat someday, I can be assured the
replacement heater can't overheat the tank either with this controller working.
One wish would be for some way to detach the probe (e.g. quick connect)
to make tank maintenance easier, as long as it stays reliable.
(An unpluggable temperature probe works for my electric wall oven.)
Recommended for anyone using electric heaters for their tank.
It prevents a heater's built in thermostat sticking on from cooking your fish.
If your thermostat control is poor but turns on, this unit can replace that feature.I've been using this temperature controller on my 210 gal salt setup with an 800W JBJ titanium heater after the expensive JBJ digital controller died after only 6 months of use. I'm not a big fan of digital controllers as the are very suscetable to power line issues, surges and brown outs and such. I did have teh JBJ unit plugged into a smal UPS to protect it from such interference but it still failed anyway. Must have been poor quality. Not what you expect for a $200 heater pachage. So far the analog HC-0800 Finnex controller has worked flawlessly. The unit looks and feels very high quality and is doing just as good a job as the JBJ digital controller for a fraction of the price. It still needs to pass teh test of time but I have a feeling it will.

Have had it now for about 6 months. Works well.I deducted one star as the dial moves too easily so I tape it in place to keep it from accidentally being bumped and moving too high in one direction or the other

Hagen Nutrafin Max Goldfish Sinking Pellet, 7.41-Ounce
Buy Hagen Nutrafin Max Goldfish Sinking Pellet, 7.41-Ounce Now
Nothing wrong with yellow fish unless you want them to stay their non-yellow colors. I have 5 tanks and I used this food in 2 of them for the last 5 months or so. My beautiful brown, white, jet black and calico goldfish slowly turned SOLID YELLOW while eating this stuff! My red goldfish and any red or yellow on my koi turned orange. I stopped feeding this food 2 weeks ago and a few of my fish (not all of them) are very slowly regaining their colors. (The new calico goldfish I put in there has stayed a calico on Wardley Essentials Goldfish Premium Flakes 1.95 Ounce This is the food I originally had all my goldfish on to prevent swim bladder and make it sink, I feed this by putting some in a net and keeping it underwater for about 20 seconds.)Apparently this Nutrafin food has yellow color enhancers. So unless you want ALL your goldfish to turn yellow or orange, do not feed! I use the same water to fill all my tanks, same water chemistry etc., and the only fish that turned colors like this were the ones on this food. So this is definitely the problem! I'm giving this product 2 stars because now I have 2 tanks FULL of yellow or orange fish: How exciting is that?
This food also keeps a bit of a cloud in the water, and I've experienced some stubborn black spot algae in the tanks I use this in. Not sure if this is the problem behind the black spot algae but it hasn't grown in my other tanks.
Overall, I just can't recommend this stuff.
* Despite what the picture shows, this is a "small" size sinking pellet. *

Pump Motor Assembly for Eclipse 3 Hood
I have had my 30 gallon show tank with the System 3 hood for about 8 or 9 years; the pump has always been a little noisy, buzzing and rattling the cover. After running across them on Amazon I decided to get another pump. When I first installed the new pump and plugged it in, it just made a bunch of loud racket and wouldn't pump any water. I contacted the seller through Amazon and they sent me another pump. Upon receiving the second pump, I decided to try it in a bucket of water before installing it. I installed the impeller and impeller housing, then the intake tube with it's strainer. I filled a bucket of water and stuck it in, but the bucket wasn't quite deep enough to get the pump going. I removed the intake tube and stuck the short tube of the impellor housing into the water and wha-la it worked right off the bat, nice and quiet too! I installed it in my tank and it started right up with no problems. Then I tried this same method on the first one, that I thought was bad and it too pumped water, quickly and quietly. So, if you think you have a received bad pump, try getting it to pump without the downtube on it before going through the hassle of returning it.
Beware, Amazon lists an impeller housing for the Eclipse 3 and Hex 5 and it is not the correct housing for the System 3! The Impellor Housing for the Eclipse 3 and Hex five are for their 3 and 5 gallon tanks. Be sure to get an impeller and impeller housing for the Eclipse System 3 Hood. It looks like the System 3 has been discontinued, as I don't see it listed on Marineland's website, and parts with the exception of filters, are becoming hard to find.
I hope this review helps some of you and saves you from the problems that I have encountered. This item out of the box looks very good and similar to the original I own, (now 6 years old and still pumping). New pump will be used as the primary pump, and the old pump will be my back-up pump.

A good replacemnt for the price. I had trouble getting it primed. I thought it was defective but finally after 15 minutes got it running. I would buy it again as a replacement. Our last pump finally died. The biggest thing I notice about this new one is that when it turns on, it is so quiet compared to the other. Probably the nature of the other one going bad but we occasionally turn it off by accident because it is on a light switch plug. Hit the wrong switch, oops, turn it back on. The old one would burble and gurgle for minutes trying to get the air out of it. This one is just back on and running smooth.Saturday, October 26, 2013

Coralife (Energy Savers) ACLAF504 Colormax 14-watt Fluorescent Aquarium Bulb, 15-Inch
- Coralife is one of the market's leading manufacturers of premium aquarium products
- The light simulates the sun at high noon with a slight cloud haze
- ColorMax lamps provide a rich light that enhances the natural beauty of the aquarium and its inhabitants
I originally rated this bulb a two, because I wanted a pure white light that made the tank look the same as it does in sunlight. If that's what you're looking for, don't buy this bulb. Unfortunately, don't buy any fluorescent bulb. I tried about four different bulbs by different makers of high quality fluorescent bulbs before I tried colormax. Since it wasn't the natural look I wanted, I tried six more bulbs, again by different manufacturers at different color temperatures. I've spent over two hundred dollars and still haven't found a bulb that doesn't have a yellow, blue, red, or purple tinge. This bulb has a purple tinge, by the way. However, after a couple months of searching and trying bulbs of all kinds, I keep putting this one back in as my default bulb. It's not exactly what I was looking for, but it does make my blue dwarf gourami, yellow molly, and red guppy stand out nicely, just not the same color they have under sunlight.
If you want a bulb that looks as close to white sunlight, this is at best a 2/5. But, if you want a bulb that makes the colors of your fish look brighter, deeper, and more vibrant (and you don't care if the colors of your fish look like the would in sunlight), then this bulb gets a 4/5.
The average is 3/5. So, depending on what you want, take the rating with a grain of salt. Unless I can find something I like more, I'll keep using this.

This is my first colormax or cheater bulb as they are called. It really does bring out the color of the fish and the fake coral I have. It gives everything a pinkish/purplish tint which I don't mind. Not good for live plants. These bulbs made a huge difference in the appearance of my tropicals! All of the colors are so much more vibrant and the contrast in plant colors is vey noticeable. Wish that I had purchased these at the beginning.

Coralife Biocube, Size 14
The Coralife 14g Biocube is, simply put, amazing. It feels like good quality materials and does EVERYTHING it is advertised to do, which almost seems odd nowadays. Most products seem to claim they can reach the moon and never deliver.
I am running saltwater in the tank now and its great for it. There are plenty off additional parts you can purchase, such as a protein skimmer and different filtration, but I've never had the need. I've got multiple colonies of large corals, mainly LPS and also a 3" G. smithii mantis shrimp. All inverts are pretty sensitive to water problems and while I was initially concerned that in such a small tank I would have a hard time maintaining salinity easily, it has been a breeze. The tight fitting canopy stops all but the smallest amount of water from evaporating out. One really handy feature is a small window in the back and side of the tank allowing you to see your water depth and it lets you know when you need to top off or not.
For anyone who has ran a tank with a sump before, that's how this tank operates. The main display water volume never varies, only in the back where the return pump is do you see any water level change. What's great about this is you wont ever have that stupid looking line at the very top of your tank where you can see air again because too much water evaporated. That seems like a minor thing but it's a small thing that makes your tank look bad. Now you'll never deal with that again.
My only complaint is the heat. Two compact fluorescent bulbs put out quite a bit of heat. My office where I have the tank is a steady 72 to 73 degrees during the day and the tank itself runs up to a max of 83 degrees at the end of the light cycle. I have the lights come on at 7:30AM and turn off at 4:30pm, so 9 hours of continual light, and the tank goes from 78.5 degrees to 83 degrees, so a four and a half degree difference every day. I can actually tell my corals dont like the high end of it, by the end of the day some are starting to look a little wilted and unhappy. I tried turning off one light and it helps, the tank was only heating to about 81 degrees during the day, but that isnt acceptable because I need high light to keep my corals up and running. So yeah... I'm going to end up replacing my lamps with LEDs, which is too bad, because basically that is going to cost me about $150 to $200, so it makes my "cheap" tank almost double in price.
Long story short, if you want to have fish and plants or corals in your tank, make sure they can survive 80+ temperatures, or else put the tank in a room with ambient temperatures of under 70 degrees.
One last thing to mention, this tank does NOT come with a heater. I thought it did from reading a couple other reviews but it most definitely does not. So if you do want a hot tank or you are running in a low ambient temperature room, pick up a small heater. Any 50w heater should fit fine in the back.I love this tank. The lights are fantastic on it. The size is great and the pump works great. Nice and clean.

I've had this tank for over a month and the quality is amazing. After the 3 week acclimation, I now have a live rock, 2 clown fish a damsel and an anemone all doing great. I would recommend this tank to any beginners to salt water, as I am one. This tank is the shiz-nit And oceanic is a great company that stands behind their product. My 1st biocube started to leak after about 10 months from a power head blowing on the upper silicon seal. I called Oceanic and they were very helpful in replacing my tank. I have had many aquariums and the biocube is by far my favorite. The only real issue I had was all my live stock out grew the tank quickly. I was shocked at how well lps and sps corals did in the tank. The Biocube is a solid very easy to maintain marine aquarium and I highly recommend it . I would like to see an LED lighting system to eliminate the heat from the pc lights in the next generation cube.Bought this tank because of space constraints and love it. Standard filtration is usable but would recommend upgrades. Was my first tank and ill tell you i wanted a bigger tank after about 3 months. Other than not judging accurately how much I would love the hobby I am 100% happy with this tank. Good buy at $200Friday, August 23, 2013
