I bought this product to help my elderly Border Collie have better traction on my wood floors. The spray is somewhat sticky when first sprayed on, but once it dries it is not sticky. I sprayed it on my hand to test and and one of my dog's paws, and it is not sticky after it dries. It might work for a few minutes for a show dog to run around the ring once, but not much longer.

Purchased this to provide traction on tile floors for our elderly dog with weak hind end. Was effective but I found that resin became lodged between toes and between toes and claws and it appeared to be uncomfortable for him. However, for show dogs with well clipped feet I can see that this product probably works quite well. I have found that Pawz balloon type boots work great to provide traction for my wonderful elderly dog.

Received package and knew almost immediately that there was an issue as I could hear loose pieces of glass inside the boxes. I initially filed for a refund and return, only to find out that it wasn't any longer available from the seller. The glass tops for the various bow fronts on the market have specific fit issues ( typically the "bowed" portion of the tanks {based on other reviews}). In my case the bow portion was fine it was the rectangular portion of the top.I took it upon my self to call some local glass places to find out it would be about a 20$ bill to replace the simple rectangular portion. I contacted Amazon customer service via their chat protocol and was refunded the price of the glass, I was even offered "labor" expenditures but I refused because honestly how much labor is it to slide broken glass out and new glass in. I just want to start off by saying I am not a fish expert. I had received a female Betta fish as a gift, in a small bowl, but after reading online about them needing more space,I decided to get something bigger, but I also wanted it to also look clean and sharp. This tank did the trick. It hold much more water but also looks great. The only down side is that it does not have a lid and the hole on top is pretty big, so sometimes debris gets in like dust and such that lays on top of the water. The little mermaid figure is a nice touch too.

This was smaller than I expected. That's my fault, because I should have read better. Also, the color that is in the picture is not what I got at all. That was one of the reasons I chose this for my lizard tank. It is a grey stone color. Not the orange desert rock color that I saw in the picture. Oh well. Other than that, it is what it says it is. Just make sure you check the dimensions before you buy it.

As a previous reviewer said, the color of this product is GRAY, not a desert-colored rock. However, my daughter still wanted it and was happy with it. Just want to make sure others know -or the company selling this should make the product description/photo more clear.

Fluval Canister Filter

Upgraded from my Emperor power filter to the 405 canister filter and am pretty happy with it so far. I have a 75 gallon fresh water tank with around 10 fish between 3" 6" inches each. I'm still experimenting with media and think this filter would work much better if it had a secondary water polishing media as a final stage. As it's shipped it has a sponge type physical media, bio-media and carbon. The sponge seems to let some of the smaller particles through. I've since added a layer of fine mesh fiber between the carbon and bio-media and it seems to be an improvement. Time will tell if it shortens my time between cleanings.

1. Installation Very easy to install, the video supplied with the filter is very easy to follow and the printed directions are also very good. Just be sure you have a place below your tank to place the filter since it needs to be placed below the water level to operate.

2. ConstructionAll the molded plastic parts seem well made and work very well. Especially the clamps for the hoses. The unit is pretty easy to remove and disassemble for cleaning also due to it's good design.

3. Maintenance So far with this unit I'm only cleaning it every 3-4 weeks, I was cleaning every two weeks with my old filter. Cleaning is much easier since you basically take the whole filter to the sink with you vs. just pulling the filter cartridges in my old filter. As I said before the supplied physical media is a sponge type material which seems to let some of the smaller stuff through so I'd recommend experimenting with some additional media.

4. Filtration Compared to my old power filter there is no comparison. This unit keeps the water much cleaner for much longer. With 4 bays for media you can alter your setup as you see fit and the volume of media is much greater. For comparison, my power filter cartridge held I think about 50oz. of carbon, this unit holds up to 400oz. The pump is also very quiet and since it's tucked away under my tank I can't hear it at all.

I'd have to say after using this filter for a few months I would recommend it to anyone.

I purchased a Fluval 405 in January '09 for a 30 Gallon tank I was setting up for 3 large single tail Goldfish. It's been running non-stop ever since. In February of '09 I transfered it to the 55G that replaced the 30, and in April '09 I transfered it to a 70G that replaced the 55.

Set up of the Fluvals is pretty easy, but does take some time.

To the people who are having problems removing the top of the filter in order to service it: You don't have to pry off the top, you use the latches on the side, and after "unlatching" them, you shove downward on them. Use some finesse, and they act as levers and raise the lid for you. It does take a bit of effort, so as I said, use some finesse.

I have mine set up with the Fluval "Pre-Filter" ceramic 6 sided "cylinders" in the very bottom tray. The rest of my trays are full of Fluval "Bio Media" ceramic cylinders. One word on filling the trays with these cylinders. The trays hold a lot more cylinders if you place them in one-by-one, standing up, and in rows, and then stack them. I did a comparison between just pouring in the cylinders, and placing them in, in rows and stacks. Big difference. That's important with 3 big Goldfish! I also use the Fluval water polishing pads and the water is always crystal clear. I've never once had that milky looking water, or green tinge water.

I haven't broken anything on it yet, but I did ruin the clear rubber (silicone?) cup that is the priming cup, by rinsing it with really hot tap water. It get all wavy and would no longer seal good enough to create suction and prime the pump.

A word on priming: Fill the canister with water that you've treated for Clorine (I use Prime), and then put the lid on. Then pour in just a bit more treated water, into the outlet port. Carry it over to the aquarium, hook up your hose assembly, turn it on, and open the valve. It should immediately begin pumping. Rock it back and forth a few times and listen for the air to move out of it, and that's it, it's back in business.

I've had one problem with the Fluval and I'll discuss the solution below since Hagen is not interested in talking with me about it via email or phone.

About 6-8 months ago, I noticed the micro polishing filter pads were coming out all dirty on their tops. This is now how the water is supposed to flow in the Fluval. Correct flow path is that water comes into the canister housing and travels down the left side, through the 4 large sponge filters. Once the water is at the bottom of the canister, it turns and flows upwards, through the bottom of each of the 4 media storage trays. The water then goes through a port molded into the plastic cover that sits on top of the top most media tray. This port has a plastic sleeve sticking up, and that sleeve is just pushing up against the the impeller housing cover.

Needless to say, there's no way water can be flowing down through the media trays. Well, mine was. No amount of cleaning of the hoses, impeller magnet and housing, or even replacing the impeller cover helped with the direction of flow. Every time I serviced the Fluval, the sponges would only be marginally full of crud, and the water polishing pads would be dirty on top. Additionally, the Fluval had become almost impossible to prime. Even when completely filled with water, as I described above, it would just sit there and cavitate. It would take me 10-15min of pumping on the priming pump....at different speeds....before the impeller would finally grab water and start actually moving it upward out of the canister.

I surmized that the cover and that round sleeve, weren't sealing against the impeller housing. I inspected the cover and found it was bowed downward, away from the impeller housing. There's nothing to support it and keep it flat and true, so because it's always being shoved downward, the plastic just bows and permanently takes that shape. I ordered a new cover, but while waiting for it to arrive, decided to try to fix the problem by modding my existing cover.

I heated the cover under hot tap water. I've got really hot tap water, so that worked great. I held it flexed back into a straight position and once cooled, it was back in shape. I could have just installed it this way, but I knew the problem would return. I decided to make a gasket to seal the plastic sleeve on the cover, against the impeller housing. I used two large rubber o-rings, like you can find in the plumbing dept. of any hardware store. I simply slipped these down over the plastic sleeve. Once in place, the top o-ring stuck up above the sleeve just enough that it would create a good seal against the impeller housing.

The good news is that the problem is cured. The Fluval fired up instantly, just as it did when it was brand new, and I even have improved flow. I'm using a Fluval spray bar by the way.

So if future Fluvals come with a silicone rubber gasket to seal between that top cover and the impeller housing, you can say that you read about it here first on Amazon! But for now, if your Fluval 105, 205, 305, or 405, or the early generation 04 models, are performing poorly, put a couple of o-rings around that sleeve on the top cover, and fix it!

This filter actually 'came with' a used aquarium I got from a garage sale...so I have no idea how old it is...but it works great! It is quiet, which is always a plus, and it is versatile. There are 4 trays, with two chambers each, in which to mix and match filter media. I am able to tailer mine to the strong needs of my turtle. Although the filter has a 100 gallon tank capacity, I am saving up for a second one on my 90 gallon tank...there is no such thing as over-filtering when it comes to turtles and I just love this fluval.

Initial set up is a bit overwhelming, but the directions are very clear. Once it is set up, maitenance is fairly easy. It's a bit bulky to haul to the sink to change out the media...but that's to be expected from something this size. I also have trouble getting the lid off and basically have to use a screwdriver as a lever...but honestly, I don't mind...I would rather have it be snug and leak proof than easy to remove!

The manual has a section that talks about the various components of filtering which can be helpful when deciding what to put where in your filter. It wasn't helpful to me. But this is probably the most widely used type of filter and a visit to any turtle or fish keeping community on the internet will yield plenty of tips and advice on setting up media that is most effective for your aquarium community.

I rescued a red eared slider turtle a few months ago and had NO idea what I was in for to keep a tank clean. I was about to give him away but had grown to like the little guy so I thought I would give a canister filter a shot. I went with the Fluval after much research and review reading. I received this thermometer today and placed in my aquarium right away to test if it does in fact stay down as the description says, you'll be glad to know that it does stay down.

The fins you see at the bottom serve as an anchor, the fins have weight and are shaped to help the thermometer stay in place, but be sure to gently push the fins into the sand or gravel.

I have a wave maker in my tank that creates currents from two different directions every 2.5 minutes, the thermometer did not move once and hasn't since I placed it in the gravel.

The thermometer has both readings in Celsius and Fahrenheit on a white background with a "green safe zone" area in the middle. Reading temperatures is very easy, the visibility on the thermometer is very clear.

As for accuracy, I can say with confidence that the water temperature is displayed with minimal margin of error, if any, probably + or .2 degrees. I have a digital thermometer with a probe and both displayed the same temperature.

The overall construction of the thermometer is of very good quality and materials, the housing is made of glass and the fins of plastic, not sure what they used to give weight to the fins, but it works, it does sink and stays sunken.

Nowadays is hard to find good aquarium thermometers, they are either inaccurate or brake easily, this one however, even though is made in China, seems to be well built and I expect it to last. Hope this helps.

Ok...the reason I like the "rocket" so much is...

1) Unlike glass hanging thermo's there is no suction cup that fails after 2 weeks or top hanging thermos which only test temp at the water surface

2) Unlike other substrate based thermos, they don't constantly spin. These have "rocket" fins which anchor it in the substrate and prevent spinning.

The thermo is otherwise no different than most other non digital type thermos. Easily readable and relatively accurate.

I was looking for a good thermometer for an acrylic tank. The stick-on types aren't accurate unless your tank is glass and the suction cup types just don't stay put for long. So, I chose this glass, standing model.

It's an accurate thermometer that stays put at the bottom of the tank. The cory catfish appreciates that food gets stuck by the base and he cleans it away without the thermometer budging. Very happy with the performance and the kids think it looks like a rocket.

What is a thermometer supposed to do? It's supposed to measure temperature. Well, I'm sure this measures temps, but I can't tell what they are. The scale is unreadable. Mechanically this looks like a decent product, but the water temp could be 60 deg or 90 deg, and I wouldn't know without sticking my finger in the tank. It does have a green zone on the scale, but it's not clear what temp range that covers. I wouldn't buy another one or recommend this product to anyone.

For the price, this light is awesome. It looks good, Its super bright, and the blue lights make glofish glow really well. I gave 4/5 because of the value although I was pretty upset I had to modify my tank to accommodate it. I think if you're on a budget and don't mind modifying your tank a little than this is a great choice. I would get 2 for a 20+ gallon tank.

It lights it up very brightly and brings out the colors in the fish and aquarium real well. I love the blue " night light" option.

I had a couple of lights go on my Aquarium go bad. One was a LED and I only had it months, most of the lights went out and then the switch went. I also had the older version of florescent lights which gave a reddish look to the Aquarium . Both were replaced with a AGP tek ,which was very easy to adapt to fit . I was able to keep the new lights high enough to keep them from being wet most of the time. If you have checked out Aquarium lights the AGPtek are reasonable priced. Only three weeks but so far so good. The 4 stars are only because of the short time I've had them installed.

I have three fish tanks...hey...I once had 27...when you buy an air pump you sometimes get a t connector, especially if it is a two outlet. I thought I had one in my trail mix bag of fish tank stuff, but it was cracked. I wanted to join two older pumps to run one air stone and thereby get a few more years out of them and this was a good deal. I now have a supply of airline connectors to add extra line or split/join lines. They fit my regular tubing just fine, if you have silicone tubing you might end up using a cable tie to snug the fit. Airline tubing tends to get hard and stiff where it connects to the pump over time and inline connectors are very handy for adding a new section of fresh tubing without going all the way to the air stone or other air powered accessory. Fast delivery and a good price. I would have had to go to the next city over to get them otherwise.

The plastic air tube inserts have enabled me to create a quick release system which is easy to use, and this allows the PH levels in my planted aquariums to maintain their stability.

These filters have all the necessities: a prefilter/mechanical, a biological filter, a carbon/chemical filter and an air intake that allows the air to mix with the water that comes out of the spout. The only slight problem that I can find is that a tiny amount of air leaks around the seal between the filter media container and the top section, but this isn't a big deal since the water level will almost always be lower then this seal. You can use the filter as a pump by removing the pour spout and plugging in a hose that has an inner diameter of 1/2".

Really, this device can serve three purposes: it pumps and moves water around (at various power levels), it filters (with 3 stage filtration), and it can mix air with water, so that your aquarium can be properly aerated. In order to take in air, this filter has a sort of a snorkel with a screw-in cap that allows you to regulate the quantity of air being sucked in. The snorkel stays above the water surface, so there is always a reliable supply of air available.

I mean, you get one device that replaces up to three separate contraptions that all would require maintenance, supplies, space, and, of course, electricity.

This filter also requires some maintenance that is easy to perform. Note: never use any harsh chemicals on this device and its filter media. Especially avoid using Windex, because you do not want to kill the biofilter and you do not want any more ammonia in your fish tank!

There are three pieces of filter media in this device: the primary (rough) mechanical filter, the biofilter, and a self-contained basket-like activated carbon filter.

The activated carbon filter piece is a tightly-capped plastic container that needs to be replaced entirely every 4 to 8 weeks. However, there is a way to open the cap on this container. Then you may be able to replace the activated carbon granules with any separately purchased granules or with a mixture of carbon and zeolite. But, if you do not perform this procedure accurately enough, then your might face some cleanup problems or the impeller could get damaged.

The filter is reasonable quiet, unless you run it at the extreme lowest or highest throughput mode. Every setting in between is fairly quiet. It hardly takes up any space inside a tank. Plus, you do not have to modify your tank's cover to accommodate this kind of filter, because it stays completely or mostly submerged with nothing hanging over the edge of your tank.

Note: a brand-new filter may contain some oil inside its pumping assembly, so just rinse it with running water before installing this device for the first time. The manufacturer states that the motor is completely sealed with epoxy, so I guess that you do not have to worry about the motor.

I've been using this in a 20 gal aquarium with tetras, platys, swordtails, etc for over a year and it's been great. I dont hesitate to recommend this filter. It works well and I've never had trouble. I keep it completely submerged so the tank is quiet. You can leave it up above the water a little to create more current, and if you want you can open the little port that lets air mix into the water too. The only reason I dinged it one star is because it cost me about $12-15 every time I have to replace the three different cartridges depending on where I shop to get the parts. I wish it were cheaper for those parts, such as maybe they could sell multi-packs/bulk packs, etc. The carbon cartridges come in a two pack but the sponges dont. So just keep that in mind when you are planning for long term maintenance. This is a very solid filter and overall I love it.

The e-mail from Petco said that I could return it to a store or mail it. I called Petco and got my return slip. I was told by Petco that I could get a refund at the store. The store told me that I could only get a gift card because I bought it on Amazon. They say that it is their written policy but I cannot find that policy. Now they say that if I mail it back, I can get a refund. I do not believe anything that Petco tells me. Please don't by Petco products on Amazon. This is no fun at all. I have made a complaint to the seller, but I am not hopeful. I would avoid buying this product on Amazon.

I have trouble in a 3500 gal fish pond. String algae is very difficult to control during the warm weather. This is the best I have found yet, needing to renew treatment a few times each summer.

Coralife SL-38 Super Luft Aquarium Air Pump

I have had this pump for 20 months now, and it has not lost its power to pump a lot of air.. I have a 75 gal tank and use all four outlets and the air output has not dropped. I do have to change out the stones as they will clog and slow the air down, but can't stop it... great product as most pumps will have broken diaphrams or other parts broken by now and have to be replaced or repaired. this pump is as strong as day one and I have done nothing but plug it in and enjoy the bubbles..

only problem is pump will be a little loud but mine is located in a cabinet in the family room so its not a problem for me. But if this is in your bedroom might be a little loud to sleep:)

it does its job, i wish it could work a little better when i spread it out over 8 filters but for the cost im not going to complain. another upside is that unlike other air pumps this doesnt need to have the diaphragm replaced every time it does bad

Zoo Med Flora Sun Plant Bulb T5 High Output 24 Watts, 22-Inch

Description said to pair this bulb with the Ultra Sun Trichromatic Super Daylight Bulb for best tank color and plant growth. This is the second time we have tried this pairing only to see the our aquarium plants continue their downward spiral. In between these two attempts, we used two 6800K bulbs by another manufacturer and our plants looked really great. Not sure why a so-called "plant bulb" would not be better for the plants, but we'll go back to the two 6800K bulbs.

I would not recommend this for an aquarium. First I do not like the purple tint it gives to the tank. Second, I put this in a 20 gallon long planted tank with DIY CO2. My drop checker shows green and I have flourite down for the plants. Since putting this bulb in my plants have lost much color and I have brown algae. I am online now switching to a Hagen Life-glo which has better reviews.

Coralife Biocube, Size 14

I really like this tank. I've had many different tanks, ranging from a small 5g acrylic "bowfront" tank to a 210 gallon tank and everything in between. I've been in the aquarium hobby for the last 15 years and tried a little of everything.

The Coralife 14g Biocube is, simply put, amazing. It feels like good quality materials and does EVERYTHING it is advertised to do, which almost seems odd nowadays. Most products seem to claim they can reach the moon and never deliver.

I am running saltwater in the tank now and its great for it. There are plenty off additional parts you can purchase, such as a protein skimmer and different filtration, but I've never had the need. I've got multiple colonies of large corals, mainly LPS and also a 3" G. smithii mantis shrimp. All inverts are pretty sensitive to water problems and while I was initially concerned that in such a small tank I would have a hard time maintaining salinity easily, it has been a breeze. The tight fitting canopy stops all but the smallest amount of water from evaporating out. One really handy feature is a small window in the back and side of the tank allowing you to see your water depth and it lets you know when you need to top off or not.

For anyone who has ran a tank with a sump before, that's how this tank operates. The main display water volume never varies, only in the back where the return pump is do you see any water level change. What's great about this is you wont ever have that stupid looking line at the very top of your tank where you can see air again because too much water evaporated. That seems like a minor thing but it's a small thing that makes your tank look bad. Now you'll never deal with that again.

My only complaint is the heat. Two compact fluorescent bulbs put out quite a bit of heat. My office where I have the tank is a steady 72 to 73 degrees during the day and the tank itself runs up to a max of 83 degrees at the end of the light cycle. I have the lights come on at 7:30AM and turn off at 4:30pm, so 9 hours of continual light, and the tank goes from 78.5 degrees to 83 degrees, so a four and a half degree difference every day. I can actually tell my corals dont like the high end of it, by the end of the day some are starting to look a little wilted and unhappy. I tried turning off one light and it helps, the tank was only heating to about 81 degrees during the day, but that isnt acceptable because I need high light to keep my corals up and running. So yeah... I'm going to end up replacing my lamps with LEDs, which is too bad, because basically that is going to cost me about $150 to $200, so it makes my "cheap" tank almost double in price.

Long story short, if you want to have fish and plants or corals in your tank, make sure they can survive 80+ temperatures, or else put the tank in a room with ambient temperatures of under 70 degrees.

One last thing to mention, this tank does NOT come with a heater. I thought it did from reading a couple other reviews but it most definitely does not. So if you do want a hot tank or you are running in a low ambient temperature room, pick up a small heater. Any 50w heater should fit fine in the back.

I love this tank. The lights are fantastic on it. The size is great and the pump works great. Nice and clean.

This tank is the shiz-nit And oceanic is a great company that stands behind their product. My 1st biocube started to leak after about 10 months from a power head blowing on the upper silicon seal. I called Oceanic and they were very helpful in replacing my tank. I have had many aquariums and the biocube is by far my favorite. The only real issue I had was all my live stock out grew the tank quickly. I was shocked at how well lps and sps corals did in the tank. The Biocube is a solid very easy to maintain marine aquarium and I highly recommend it . I would like to see an LED lighting system to eliminate the heat from the pc lights in the next generation cube.

Bought this tank because of space constraints and love it. Standard filtration is usable but would recommend upgrades. Was my first tank and ill tell you i wanted a bigger tank after about 3 months. This does work...not as well as pressure or DIY systems but it makes a difference and is cheap and easy to use. Nice side effect is it helps get rid of some algaes like hair and black beard. Just remember not to overdose as it can kill your fish and it can be hard on some plants. I had a some cryps that seemed to grow fast but then the leaves would quickly decay. Ludiwigs, boca, ratolla all did well...may vals also did fine.
