HOSSEN® 2W Aquarium Tank 2 Mode Clip Lamp 28 LED White & Blue Light 85-265V

HOSSENĀ® 2W Aquarium Tank 2 Mode Clip Lamp 28 LED White & Blue Light 85-265VMy lamp arrived two and a half weeks early! Out of the box, it is easy to attach to the aquarium. The white lights illuminate the tank (2.5 gallons) rather nicely and the blue lights will probably be used at nighttime.

I have two issues the lamp is wiggly on my tank because it is awkwardly shaped and takes a little maneuvering to get it right. The other thing is that is gets warm quickly. I'm gonna be keeping a close eye on it today to see if it gets wickedly hot. Besides those two things, this lamp is excellent for the price!

You cannot use this where moisture or water evaporation can leak into it. It will stop working in a few weeks if moisture gets inside the lamp. This lamp is only useful if you have a transparent aquarium lid under the lamp, and if you place it away from any filters that can cause water evaporation near the lamp. However, the lamp does light up a lot, and the second mode for night-time is a moonlight-blue.

Nice and bright. it has two modes, white & blue or just blue. If you have the plastic rim around the top of your aquarium, you will need to cut a slot out so you can attach the light, easy to do.

Como Aquascaping Artificial Green Plastic Pine Tree Decoration for Aquarium

Como Aquascaping Artificial Green Plastic Pine Tree Decoration for Aquariumplant floated too much, I had to keep ancoring it into the gravel, but the next day, it would be floating at trhe top again. I took it out, and made a fake bonsi looking arrangement somewhere else, not a good fish tank asscessory. this item receives a "F" rating.

no matter how I bury it the minute a fish bumps it, it floats to the top. not worth the trouble.

This is a well made and realistic looking tree when you put it in the water. I've given up silk because they look good for only a temporary amount of time and take more time to clean than they're worth. So I've gone to a mixture of real plants and some plastic. The well made plastic ones, such as this, match and tend to blend into the landscape of my aquariums well.

PETCO Multi-Functional Tool for Glass Aquariums

PETCO Multi-Functional Tool for Glass AquariumsThis is a great tool to have if you have an aquarium. I have used all three attachements many times. I usually buy the glass and acrylic scrubbing pads seperately and attach them to the velcro-like scrubber head, even though I dont think it is designed to be used this way, because I can always replace the pads, and I wouldn't want to have to buy this tool again. I use it all the time, but it still only gets 3 stars because the price is really high. So, if you have money to blow, you'll probably want this for your aquarium.

Acurel LLC Extreme Activated Carbon Pellets and Ammonia Away Green Blend, Aquarium and Pond Filter

Acurel LLC Extreme Activated Carbon Pellets and Ammonia Away Green Blend, Aquarium and Pond Filter Accessory, 135-OunceWe use this charcoal in our emergency water purification system. It's the best price we can find on charcoal pellets. Although we're not worried about ingesting ammonia from our pond it's an added bonus. This should work in fresh water aquariums as well.

Wanted something in bulk that was good at keeping the water clean in my 40gal freshwater aquarium at a great price. This is it. Fish are happy and healthy. What more could I ask for especially at the price. Way better value than buying the carbon at the local pet store.

Commodity Axis Inc Viaaq Titanium HTR 300W

Commodity Axis Inc Viaaq Titanium HTR 300WThis heater will work just past the warranty period. This gives you 366 days of use.

Kevin Shiotani, from Commodity Axis Inc. will ignore all of your requests for a new pump because all he wants is your money.

Via Aqua is imported by a company called Commodity Axis, and is run by Kevin Shiotani. He doesn't care about the quality of his products, imports cheap junk, sells it, then hopes the equipment breaks down so that you have to buy it again. When I offered to send him a defective pump and a defective heater so that he could study the problem, he completely ignored the offer. This guy doesn't care about quality, he only wants your money.

I've had this heater for less than six months. It heats the water in the base of a large enclosure for my iguana.

Today the water was cold, and as I reached in toward the heater my fingers tingled for a second, and then it stopped. I removed the heater from its location and saw a massive amount of deep corrosion. As I turned it over to inspect it, I was fully electrocuted with house current (not my first time). I just thank my stars that it was me, and not my iguana who certainly wouldn't have survived.

Electrocution aside, six months in good tap water shouldn't corrode the heater as badly as mine is.

Buy Commodity Axis Inc Viaaq Titanium HTR 300W Now

I'm using it in a 55-gallon saltwater bowfront tank. Does the job in short order. Very responsive to slight changes in water temperature .. topping off the tank with a gallon of fresh water triggers the heater immediately. This heater uses a probe with a suction cup, so make sure you have a clean, out of view place to attach the probe. It is supposed to be attached a good distance away from the heater itself.

Loving Pets Dolce Dish Dog Bowl, Small, 1 Pint, Pink

Loving Pets Dolce Dish Dog Bowl, Small, 1 Pint, PinkWe have three of these dishes: two used for food and one extra for water. As previous reviewers have stated, the foot prints and bones decorations do rub off with time especially if you stack two bowls together for storage. The water bowl, for example, still has it's decals because it doesn't get stacked. I do wash the stainless steel bowls in the dishwasher daily because they can be separated from the decorated plastic outside support. They are holding up very well. The bowl is sturdy, never tips over, and easily holds the 1/4 cup of dry food my two tiny dogs (8.75 lbs and 7.5 lbs in size) each get every meal.

This dish was purchased to replace a pottery dog dish, which, unfortunately, was broken. The original bowl belonged to my beloved pet of many years, and was much larger than this 1 pint size dish. My dog using this bowl has weight issues, so this size is perfect for holding her portion! It is an adorable bowl...so cheerful to look at, and unbreakable as well. The color is a tasteful shade of pink (not a gaudy pink-just right!). It is easily cleaned and can be disinfected to keep our pooch happy and healthy! I am very pleased with my purchaseboth with its appearance and its value.

The bowl is super cute and the size fits my dog well. The only thing I would like is for shell the bowl sits in to be a little smaller. But that is only a problem because of where I have to put the dog bowl. Not a manufacturing issue...so over all a good product

DT ONE & ONLY FW 8OZ

DT ONE & ONLY FW 8OZI purchased a 2 ounce bottle for new new 29 gallon aquarium in order to shorten my fishless cycle. I added 2 ppm ammonia, and the One and Only to my tank. After three weeks, Nitrites had still not cleared. I tested daily, and kept my water parameters in line with the instructions every step of the way including temperature, PH, keeping both ammonia and nitrites under 5ppm so as to not stall the cycle, and the product did not speed up the fishless cycle. I contacted Dr. Tim, and below is an exact transcript from tha interaction:

Customer 5/20/2012 8:55:40 AM Hello,

I have recently set up a new 29 gallon tank, and ordered a 2 oz bottle of One and Only with which to do a fishless cycle. I received the One and Only on May 1, and began the fishless cycle that day by adding the One and Only and 2ppm ammonia to the tank. As of today, 5/20, the tank is still not processing Nitrites. I have kept the water at a constant 84 degrees, and the PH at a constant 8.0.

I have posted requesting help on Cichlid-Forum in your forum there and have not received any response.

It appears that I am now on a regular fishless cycle, and that the One and Only has not helped speed the cycle in any way. The tank is now processing ammonia (as would be expected in a normal fishless cycle), the Nitrites never reached above 4 ppm because I have also been doing small water changes. There is nothing in the parameters of the water that would cause this slow down, other than the One and Only has not worked.

Therefore, I am requesting a refund of my purchase, plus shipping. The total I paid was $21.88, and my order number was 3d-120562.

Thank you, in advance, for your help.

Sincerely,

Robert Lewis

Staff (Administrator) 5/20/2012 1:20:24 PM

Dear Mr Lewis

Sorry to have not responded in the cichlid forum but we never received a notice that anyone has posted in the forum so did not know there was message. I have contacted the forum people to find out what the problem is.

As for the tank and processing a refund I am sorry but I cannot grant that request. There is no data to suggest that the process not working (according to you) is due to the product you control the process but adding ammonia (or not) and measuring nitrite is only one way to tell if the process is working or nor working.

Did you add more ammonia, did you measure nitrate etc etc. How did you set-up the tank etc etc.

Because of the high number of variables involved and the fact that every aquarium and aquarist is different we do not promise that the tank will cycle in xx number of days because again that is subjective. Our products work and we try hard to make everyone happy but we cannot be responsible for every case and situation.

Sincerely

DrTim

Customer 5/20/2012 1:39:12 PM

Hello,

I'm happy to provide any data you wish so that you are comfortable that this is not due to 'other variables'. It's not my first time setting up a tank. In fact, it's not even my first time setting up a tank with your product. I also take issue with the fact that you say that you don't say the tank will be cycled in xx number of days. The entire point of One and Only is to cycle a tank faster than it would have cycled on its own, so some timeframe in inherent in the purpose of the product. Additionally, in your literature explaining how to do a fishless cycle, you mention that most tanks will cycle 'within a week'.

I have added additional ammonia on three occasions. I have tested for both ammonia and Nitrite each day. I have done small water changes when it appeared Nitrite was nearing 4 ppm. I have maintained a PH of 8.0, I have maintained a temp of 84 degrees, I am using sponge filtration. The only things in the tank are rocks and crushed coral substrate.

I have used the clear ammonia available at Ace Hardware something that MANY people on Cichlid-Forum have also used. I tested to ensure that ammonia never went above 2ppm after adding to the tank.

I would be happy to go over any other variables you mention. I am asking for a refund because the cycle is likely to complete in the next several days to a week anyway without One and Only having sped the process at all.

Please let me know what information you would like, and I hope you will consider a refund, if for nothing else than to keep a customer that has bought from you in the past, and will likely buy from you in the future, and is active in a community that comprises a good portion of your core market.

Sincerely,

Robert Lewis

Customer 5/20/2012 1:41:06 PM

Additionally, I have not tested for Nitrate because I have been advised that testing for Nitrate when there are Nitrites in the water will likely give a false reading.

Customer 5/23/2012 11:10:39 AM

Hello?

Staff (Administrator) 5/23/2012 2:49:37 PM

Hello:

We have considered your request and we cannot comply. You choose to use the Ace Ammonia based on other's advice and not our ammonia. You controlled the amount of ammonia being added which will determine the amount of nitrite. And as you note we say "most" not every aquarium.

The fact is you have placed two orders with us and complained each time. We helped the first time by replacing the product which was surely not defective. For the second order you controlled the cycling time and you did not follow the directions.

Sincerely

DrTim

Customer 5/23/2012 3:10:06 PM

I truly do not understand your stance here. I followed the directions to the letter. How can you say I didn't follow the directions? I have offered to provide you with any additional data you wish. Instead of asking for this data, you chose to attack my methods without all of the information. Was I not to control the amount of ammonia I add to the tank? Of course I should, your statement in that regard doesn't even make sense! I dosed to 2ppm initially, waited for ammonia to clear, began measuring Nitrite daily, added additional ammonia to 1ppm two additional times over two weeks. I did small water changes if Nitrite approached 4ppm so as not to stall the cycle. I maintained proper temperature. I maintained proper PH. I used the appropriate amount of One and Only. Please explain to me how I did not follow directions? Please explain to me the error in my methodology? How you can even say that without appropriate data is beyond me.

Is your issue that I did not use your Ammonia Chloride, and used Ace instead? This product has been shown to be reliable by many others that have used it for fishless cycling, including those that have used One and Only.

Then you make a remark regarding our first transaction stating that your product was surely not defective in the first instance either!?

So, at the end of that first paragraph, are you saying that your product only works 'most' of the time? That's a tidbit I'm sure the community would certainly be interested in knowing so they can evaluate their purchase decisions with more information.

If you are unwilling to consider my request, then unfortunately, you've lost a customer. I'll also make every effort to evangelize this to as many people as I can. Regrettable, and avoidable.

Sincerely,

Robert Lewis

Staff (Administrator) 5/24/2012 7:05:25 AM

Here is the problem you think that because you did not get the results you expected that the product did not work.

But you have read many many accounts where it performed fine. So how did you get the one (or if you count both orders the two) that did 'not' work. Your whole thinking is that the product is defective not that maybe something you do or have done is the problem.

That is wrong. The product works fine the situation is that once the product gets into the user's hands the user can do many things that may reduce the effectiveness of the product things we cannot control. That is why we say 'most cases' because in most cases it will work despite what the user may or may not do. Please do not mis-state what we mean.

You choose to think that it should work no matter what you do and this is wrong.

So when you talk about the product just be sure to write the truth you did not follow the directions exactly and did not do everything perfectly.

Customer 5/24/2012 7:14:48 AM

And again, I ask you, what did I do wrong? And, how do you somehow feel I did not follow directions? I did follow the directions. I did keep the water parameters exactly as you state in your directions. I have given you details of what I did within this thread, can you pleae tell me what I did that is not according to your directions? I have offered to give you whatever data you wish on several occasions now, and instead of asking for it, you just make blanket judgements about my methodology rather than even acknowledge the possibility that perhaps your product did not perform as designed. I even suggested that perhaps your guidance on how much of your product to use for each tank size may need some adjustment, and you can't even bring yourself to consider that. I'm trying to be reasonable, and provide any information you request, you are just playing the blame game blame the customer for any problems that arise.

Staff (Administrator) 5/24/2012 7:23:04 AM

This conversation has become pointless I wish the best with your aquariums.

Good day

I was propelled into the world of aquariums when my daughter was handed a large jar full of fancy guppies by her grandfather. So, on a Sunday night my family found ourselves at the only pet store open, with my credit card in hand. That night we provided our "free" guppies with a perfect 10 gallon world, filled with live plants, rocks, LED lights and a filters that could handle twice the tank size everything a guppy could want. I thought things were going well until few days later the guppies started to die.

I returned to the store and told my story of woe to the helpful staff. They in turned explained cycling to me and I learn that while my tank look like an ideal home for guppies, the water itself was toxic. Beyond that quick lesson they could offer no help, but as I left the store with a water test kit in hand a young British man overhearing my store told me to look up "Dr Tim One and Only".

It didn't take long to learn that the aquarium world was split on Dr Tim's products. I had my doubts that this miracle of biology could work. However, with nothing to lose, and not wanting to explain to my daughter that her beloved fancy guppies were going to die I placed my order for Dr Tim's One and Only, and paid extra for the overnight shipping.

Not only did "Dr Tim's One and Only" work, but it has allowed for the setup of a second tank for the female guppies, without waiting for the traditional 30-day tank to cycling. We literally dumped eight (8) female guppies and a pair of Cory Cats into the new tank, within minutes of filling the new tank with water. Both tanks are now filled with thriving guppies. We set-up a tank for fries using water pulled from the female tank.

The first couple weeks I tested the water daily and could tell that the bacteria was becoming established, with in a few days the bio-filter was in place and doing its job. After a month of daily testing I reduced my water testing to once a week. If I detect an increase in any of the levels I add a one cap full (half a dose) to the tank, and my readings drop back to zero (0) again. Our tanks are healthy and stable; I have plans on moving up to 30 gallon tanks for the guppies and Dr. Tim's will be are part of that upgrade.

I HIGHLY recommend Dr Tim's One and Only to anyone with a tank full of fish that can't or won't wait for the normal 30 day traditional cycle method. There simply no reason to wait before enjoying a tank full of happy fish.

I read the one star review of Dr Tim's One and Only, and can say I had zero problems with the product. One and only worked PERFECTLY -my Ammonia, Nitrate and Nitrite levels hold steady zeros or near zero. I can only suggest everyone should read and follow the instructions. Dr. Tim's web page had provided great insight into tank management.

Side note: I use the dropper test from API as I feel its results are more accurate than the stick method, even if it take more effort.

Fish & Aquatic Supplies Plain Polyfiber Pad 18X30

Fish & Aquatic Supplies Plain Polyfiber Pad 18X30This replaced the carbon media on my Aquaclear Filter. I'm a big fan mechanical filter media and combining them. Right now my AquaClear filter has a Sponge, two sheets cut to fit of this polyfyber and the ceramic bio media. I also cut this to size and use them in my lfival Chi Filter instead of the stock fluvan pads. All my tanks are planted, thats why O dont use carbon media except on special circumstances when they arise.

This is a really nice filtration media and does the job well. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars is because having a saltwater tank, it really won't last too long. You can try to rinse it to clean but after 2 washes it becomes very weak. For the price and how many uses I'm getting out of it, it's definitely worth every penny.

Petego-Jet Set Pet Carrier

Petego-Jet Set Pet Carrier - Medium/BlackI bought the medium and large Jet Set pet carrier through Amazon for my Chihuahua and Dachshund after looking at all the other carriers in New York pet stores. I simply wanted an attractive and rugged dog carrier that could genuinely withstand the rigors of travel and protect my dogs against inevitable knocks and jolts. It needed to be well padded and offer far more protection than the most popular soft carrier but also be able to squeeze under an airplane seat. However at home, I needed something that wasn't so utilitarian that it needed to be shut away but instead could function as a subtle and sensible den.

On the whole, I found almost all the competition either too feminine bordering on the stupid and/or too flimsy for serious consideration by anyone not just considering flying with a dog, but for any travel whether by car, subway or even bicycle!

The Jet Set carriers have proven themselves as very tough and practical. I like their well padded interiors and simple tough exterior (though I wish they came in other colors especially black or dark brown). The floor, side walls and ceiling all have what feels like at least a half inch of foam padding on a semi-rigid backing. The interior padding is covered in a soft black cloth. I wish that the floor was removable or there was a fleece lining I could buy so I simply line it with newspaper and cover with an old folded bath mat. The exterior shell in tough thick ballistic nylon (that as I mentioned I wish came in other more muted colors). On either side are windows with roll-up cover flaps and both ends have zippered soft nylon mesh openings. These offer a good mix of ventilation and privacy that some other dog carriers don't either too much or too little. Also my Dachshund has chewed through the soft plastic mesh of other brand dog carriers (that I was unhappy with for all the reasons I like the Jet Set) but at best, just flossed his teeth on the Jet Set's mesh.

I completely endorse and recommend the Jet Set bag. I can't imagine there is a better dog carrier on the market I certainly didn't find one in the dozen or more pet stores I visited in Manhattan ranging from Petco to very high end designer shops. They've performed amazingly well and at about $110 were excellent value for money especially compared to both cheaper and much more expensive carriers that look foolish and don't offer your dog enough protection on the move. I've seen some people on airplanes that have "fashion" dog bags that one could see were completely inadequate and inwhich the dog was uncomfortable and miserable. My dogs love their Jet Sets as dens at home (tucked under dining chairs in the corner of a room) and inasmuch seem just as relaxed and happy curled up/stretched out in them on the subway, in a plane or car.

I have a large 13 lb cat that I bought this bag for. The size was just right for him to stand and turn around. I traveled with this bag on American Airlines with no issue. Though the bag fit under the seat in front of me, it is a bit long. I was fortunate in that the person seated next to me did not have any carry-on luggage to stow as my bag did encroach into his space.

The mesh ventilation is good and bad. Good in that it is sturdy and will not be easily torn. Bad in that the holes are very small, providing little air flow. My cat was damp when I finally landed and was able to pull him out. I believe it to be due to the humidity build up in the bag.

The straps on the bag are awkward. The handle straps work ok. I was able to hold onto the bag this way for a while. Due to the size of the cat and his movement, it was hard to keep a steady balance. The shoulder straps were not that great. With a smaller pet, it might have been ok. When my cat would shift weight it would cause the bag to tip and my cat to slide to the bottom, resulting in the bag flipping on end. I ended up carrying him with two hands through the airport to try and keep the bag level.

Overall. The bag is good. It works with a larger cat and met the airline's requirements, which is just what I needed.

Buy Petego-Jet Set Pet Carrier Now

I definitely knew what the dimensions were when I ordered this because I needed to make sure it fit the requirements of United Airlines, however, this thing is really small! My dog will fit in it but she barely has room to curl up, she's going to be making the sides bulge to do so. She's a Chihuahua/Terrier, 12 pounds, and about 12" from collar to base of tail.

The mesh windows do seem very durable. My complaint is that the windows aren't big enough to give her much visual while inside. And it's difficult for me to see her inside of it and make sure she's comfortable.

Also the backpack "straps" are very uncomfortable, there is not padding on them and after wearing it with the dog for a few minutes they started to dig into my shoulders.

The top of the carrier has some "give" so it should be able to fit under any plane seat. Other carriers I've seen have very stiff piping that don't allow much pushing down on the top--which is good for safety reasons...Overall this carrier has lots and lots of padding to protect the dog on all sides.

My last "complaint" is that the soft insert that lies on the carrier floor doesn't velcro down, so that could move around a bit but it's not as bad as other carriers I've seen. We're taking her on a flight in about a month, so hopefully all goes well.

Super Naturals

Super NaturalsReally natural and easy to aquascape. WASH WASH WASH RINSE RINSE RINSE. -you will need a fine mesh strainer. Also this stuff is deceptively heavy 5 pounds of tiny rock weighs the same as one big five pound rock. Underwater it truly comes to life, with reds, ochres and creams that complement driftwood and plants very well. Because it's natural, you'll have some difficulty locating your patterned ground-dwellers in the tank. I have two albino and one bronze corydoras in one of my tanks. You can barely see the bronze guy. If that bugs you, choose a monochromatic gravel.

Petco Snowy River Aquarium Gravel, 5 lbs. This gravel looks great in my betta's 5 gallon "natural" aquarium. The size is great and perfect for the roots of my Anubias. The light color accentuates the colors of my fish and decor.

Penn Plax Baby Hide-Out Breading Grass for Aquarium

Penn Plax Baby Hide-Out Breading Grass for AquariumI have these for all three of my tanks. You can place them in the grass or turn them upside down and they float on the top of the water.

I have mine floating. Not only do my fish babies find their way into them for protection but it gives cover to the rest of the fish in the tank. When they float and babies are in them, it is easier to catch the babies and/or feed them. I have a tank just for babies so I love how easy it is to put my net under the floating grass and lift the grass to get the babies quickly.

It works ok, except apparently I have a very good hunter in my betta......he has managed to eat all of my babies anyway, it would probably work much better if I took him out of the tank.

Penn-plax Bubbler Bottom FilterBasically, i started this out for guppies. they didn't survive and now i have quite a few more. Swordtails being my favorite here. the filter is simple, but is a hassle for the activated filter carbon. the small particles get throught the bottom and then, the air is pushed through, potientially pushing out the small particles into the tank. i thought it was dangerous for the fish so i got a sifter for the smaller particles. it takes me an hour and a half all together to get this done. the airtube is pretty tight on, but it gets slimy. the trapping isn't amazing, but decent so make sure you have a cleaning fish for the leftovers.

I have been keeping fish for 30+ years and have air driven filters from Penplax and Lee. Power filters and canisters have their place and I use them. But there is still room for the old school air driven filter.

Air driven filters are often under estimated. I gave them 4 stars because they work well. I did not give them 5 stars because they take a bit of time to clean. These $3 filters will filter as well as a power filter if you have similar media in both. You always have to correctly size the filter to the tank.

How well they work and what they do depends on what you pack them with. I would always use filter floss as the top media. Anything that gets loose, like bits of charcoal, would be trapped by the floss.

It is a good idea to use 2 filters and alternate cleaning/changing them. This ensures that the bio filtration is maintained.

Agreed that charcoal is not needed for everyday use.

This is perfect, it is much cheaper than at the store and is the exact item from the store. These little turtles do their job on the water and the turtles think they are turtles and peck at them. these arrived within days of ordering.

I use these conditioners on occassion for my 6 turtles, and have purchased them elsewhere for more money. The price is cheaper on Amazon.com than it is in the discount stores in my area..Walmart and Meijers. As long as the price is right here, I will keep purchasing them online.

Cat Mate Lockable Cat Flap with Door Liner White

Cat Mate Lockable Cat Flap with Door Liner WhiteI installed this on a foam-core metal door that leads to my unfinished basement. Installation took about an hour with a Dremel (and I left the door on the frame). The cats caught on quickly and it keeps the wet basement smell out of my house, while letting them retain access to their food and litter box. My only complaint is the magnet is a bit strong and my cats are small, so the door shuts on their tails frequently.

Cats are now 16 years old. We have been opening garage door for 16 years. wish we had bought this a while ago. Professional handman install in 1/2 hour. 13 lb cat learned to get in the house in 1/2 hour, ( used duct tape to hold door open a bit) other 12 lb cat has been caught in have a hart trap and is more wary. Now we have to teach them to go out to litter boxes! so duct tape the other way. Am using dinner/cat treats in garage to encourage going out. suspect the male will get more motivated when weather is warmer. the dogs are jealous.

we have a 2 inch foam cored door, install required mitre saw, drill, bits, hammer, and handyman, we did take door off, we put cat door where girl cat had been scratching at door to get in for ten years,( down in corner).Cat door fit perfectly, handyman said very easy to install, and excellant choice. Handyman and I looked at doors at stores, did not see any thing this well made for two inch doors, lock is the best, price was great and free shipping, amazon comes through again.

six months later No peeing in house!! cats go out to use litter boxes, has been a great sucess.

I bought this at a friend's recommendation and it's been great. Used a sawzall to cut the hole and did a kind of a sloppy job, but the outer rim is wide enough to cover minor cutting errors.

One note is the door has a sliding lock mechanism. Fine if you have the door leading outside your home and want to control when the cat can leave. If you install it inside only, as I did, I suggest popping the lock off as the lock can engage and trap the cat if the step directly on it before pushing the flap.

After looking at many models and reviews I decided to pull the trigger on this one.

Pros:

The installation was fairly simple. As with most doors, its recommended you removed the door and you'll have to measure and balance so the cat door isn't crooked. The provided cutout was very helpful for tracing where to jigsaw (a decent jigsaw is essential). The door itself seems to be of good quality, especially considering the price. I like how snuggly it closes and how little air can come through. It took our cat several weeks to get use to the idea of using the door but with practice, patience, and persistence he learned to use it. The door also has one of the best visual designs I've seen (of course my door in question is white).

Cons:

The lock button/mechanism is OK but not great. It feels a little cheap and awkward at times but it still functions appropriately. Unfortunately, this model can only be locked or unlocked. Many doors have 4-way locking that allows the cat in but not out. Was this as big as deal as I thought? Not really. When I want the cat to go down he follows or I put him inside. When I want to get him out I unlock the door. The only other thing I would change is I would flip the design or be able to lock from either side. The side that is more flush with the door (the better looking side) doesn't have access to the lock. Being a visually picky person I put the door on 'backwards' and it works fine.

Overall:

Would I pick this door again? Yes, so far so good.

It works all right, but the magnet makes the door a bit stiff if cats are a little nervous they will not use.

The locking mechanism is oddly placed in the cats path making accidental locking possible.

Hagen Elite 5-Way Air Control Valve

Hagen Elite 5-Way Air Control ValveThe whole point of these products is to fine tune the air output of each outlet in order to set the function needed perfectly. For example, an air powered ornament needs a different amount of air than a bubble wall, than an under gravel filter, etc.

This product fails this big time. It's impossible to fine tune anything because the knobs don't turn smoothly, if at all. I have to use pliers on them to get anything different from full on or full off and the sticky action of the valves makes even crude settings impossible.

I would have been better off using a rats nest of tee's.

Bought two of these and one knob broke off on install. Did not want to bother with returning them and tried to use them anyway. After about 3-4 adjusting almost all of the knobs had broken off and ended up buying stainless screws and installing them for the knobs instead. Very disappointing indeed!!!

looks good but right from the start didnt work. as soon as you open a valve down the line from the pump the previous valves stop working. plus the knob dont stop turning in either direction making trouble shooting difficult. what did work was a splitter and a 5cent valve

This control valve works just fine and the price is right. I would have given this product 5 stars if the valves weren't so tight which made adjusting a little tricky.

With the Item being plastic, I was pleasantly surprised at how durable it is. I will buy more of these in the future.
