The only watch out I would give is that the plastic lock shaft turn piece thing on the bottom is easy to deform if you just try to push one side of it (like with a small screwdriver) so always open & close with a pair of needle nose pliers.

HOW IN GOD'S NAME DO YOU PUT THE AMMONIA REMOVING MEDIA / CHARCOAL SUBSTRATE IN THIS GODFORSAKEN THING?

Seriously though. The way the inner inlet tube projects relative to the rod that turns and locks it closed makes it impossible to keep one end open to put the substrate in without pushing the plastic mesh out of the guides that hold it in place? I am tempted just to cut a little 'door' in the plastic mesh and then just zip tie it closed after I fill it up.

Surely I am doing something wrong. The Magnum 350 canister filter didn't have any instructions with it (bought used) so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Received a used magnum 350 with one of my tanks but the media container was in rough shape and missing the black lid so I decided to replace it with this. Package arrived on time (2-day shipping) and in perfect condition. The mesh housing was free from any dents and even included the strainer in the center which I wasn't expecting. I would definitely suggest filling with bio media rather than carbon though unless you are trying to clear up dirty water from meds/tannins. If you use biomax it fits about 250g

I have used these for years and I have never replaced them. When they start looking totally disgusting, I just rinse them in some tank water when I do a PWC. (Never rinse them in tap water). They hold up terrific. I have tank that is five years old and one that is six years old and they still have the same noodles that I started with in both filters. I have no plans to replace them any time soon. My water is crystal clear and my fish extra healthy! :)

Let me first say, that as a conditioning spray, it's wonderful. But it smells NOTHING LIKE a vanilla cookie. I read the previous reviews and I coated my goldendoodle with it, and blowed him dry.They said the smell gets better when it's dry. But as they had warned, it had a strong alcohol smell and instead of smelling like a vanilla cookie, it smelled like cheap children's vanilla cologne.

The spray that PetSmart uses actually smells like sugar cookies and lasts for at least a month. My dog smells like a child has doused him with cheap cologne. He's incredibly soft and awesome feeling, he just stinks to high Heaven.

So, If I were you, I would opt for another scent as this one is really disgusting. Because like I said, as a conditioning spray it works really well.

I've used another product that I can no longer find that smelled exactly like vanilla cookie..and lasted long as well..as soon as I sprayed "Nootie" on my dog I got a strong smell of alcohol..and a faint smell of vanilla..it does smell better once it dries,..i just avoid getting it on my hands.

Aqueon 06111 Aquarium Water Changer Extension, 20-Foot

We bought this for more hose length to maintain tanks that are far away from water sources. One reason I chose the Aqueon hose to begin with was the relative stiffness of the hose. I don't want kinks in the line while I am stringing water across the house. However, the extension hose is NOT the same tubing that was used on the original and does have a tendency to kink. This is not to say it's as flimsy as the cheap tubing you can buy at the hardware store, but it doesn't hold up the way the original hose does. I don't have an alternative to suggest, but do keep in mind that it's a bit flimsy.

I've had several aquarium syphons over the years and I'm quite satisfied with Aqueon. I'll have to say that the 20' extension needs improvement when it comes to construction and design. The hose is not wide enough to allow sufficient water flow once it's connected to the main syphon. A wider hose would help. I believe this is due to the plastic connector that is used to attach the extension to the main hose. The most important improvement I would suggest is the material of the connector fragile PVC plastic. The connector is very sensitive and when I tightened one end to the main hose it broke. It's not that I over tightened the connector, it's just made out of cheap plastic. An aluminum connector or maybe a stronger material would make this product useful. I'll have to make my own connector to be able to use the extension without a leak on my living room floor. Decent product cheap material.

I have had a bunch of whisper filters, and I loved every one. I see one guy managed to not be able to comprehend how to get it started...there's always one. Whispers are good filters, one bad review does not a story make, I highly recommend these filters based on twenty years of experience keeping fresh and saltwater reef tanks (but not for reef tanks, they have their own requirements and box filters won't do it) For freshwater tanks, these are excellent filters, ok that's basically it in a nutshell.

When I bought this filter it was working perfectly and was really quite. I took my tank down and put the filter up for two months, when I set my tank back up and hook this filter back up it was extremely loud. I've tried jiggling the intake tube, pulling it up slightly and letting it catch on it's own instead of me forcing the impeller in place, still no luck. I don't know why this happened but the filter started off great. Even with the loud noise it still cleans the tank well.

This is a great little filter for my 10 gallon. I love the fact that you have a control on top even for this small of an filter. I turn it down while i'm feeding and then turn it back up when they're done eating. Nice little filter, the only thing that would make it a 5 star is if they would have put an extension piece for an option like the larger filters. But if you have children old enough to be respectful around their pets, this 5.5 gallon aquarium is a great way to start. It's also an excellent option if you don't have much room/budget, or you're setting up a quarantine tank for your main aquarium. Either way, I highly recommend any All-Glass products.

Please do your research. You can get a tank like this at Petsmart (made of GLASS) for no more than $20, probably less. And with a tank so small, you really shouldn't be that concerned with getting a super high quality/expensive tank. Maybe if you are getting a 55 gallon you should be more concerned. Acrylic and glass have their advantages/disadvantages, and Petsmart actually doesn't carry very many acrylic tanks.

SunSun HW-302 3-Stage External Canister Filter, 264 gph

I know that there are a lot of complaints about the setup of this filter, but given the price point I went for it anyway. Let me just say I am super impressed with it. I have it on a fully planted 50 gallon aquarium and it has cut my maintenance of the system down to almost nill beyond water changes.

The canister only comes with filter-floss like pads for the three baskets and you have to provide your own media. I ended up stacking all three pads into one basket and getting ceramic rings, scrubby pads and charcoal for the other two. My tank has never been so clear and I only even check on the canister about once every three to four weeks. Not to mention that the filter is almost dead silent.

As far as the setup goes, sure the hoses are a little stiff, and the directions are general for all of the canisters that this company sells, but honestly this is my first canister filter and it was not that difficult for me to setup.

I have the 302 and 303B, both running for months. They are quiet and efficient. My tanks have never looked better or been healthier. The 302 was my first canister filter, so it did take me some time to figure it out. Instructions could definitely be improved. I had read other reviews that advised to prefill the canister with water to simplify priming, and it worked like a charm. The first cleaning was an adventure trying to figure out how to get the media baskets out and back in correctly, but again, once learned its no big deal. Bottom line, you can't beat these filters for the price.

when opening this filter the first thing i noticed was the tubes are coiled in the box the big problem with that is they don't uncoil very well so it tends to make a bunch of loops as it makes its way to the tank. also priming is not that easy because the plastic parts that go into the tank like to draw air. i am in the process of glueing them together. also i bought this for a turtle tank this is a filter for a tank that is completely full of water or you might have problems. also this dose come with filter media which was not very clear. also the instructions are the worst i have ever seen. they tell you almost nothing. this one has a hand pump type prime and you can't have both hoses in the water when you prime. but once you figure out everything and with a little modification it seem to work ok.

It came completely as described. Shipping seemed to take forever, but it came in the delivery window. I've had it up and running for months now and have cleaned it 2 or 3 times so far. The white polyester filter pads that come with it wear out quickly. I fixed that issue by buying the cut to size filter media and making my own. I'm a happy customer and I'm blown away with the bang for my buck. I only wish I ordered the UV sterilizer version.

Just look at the advertised picture of this table...beautiful, but once you get it home and set it up, far less enchanting! The glass top is super heavy,the space between the top of the tank and the glass top is too wide (I lost a few fish that escaped this way). I ended up having to modify the table by purchasing an acrylic top, drilling holes on the four corners to lower decrease the gap. Also, there is a condensation problem if you don't have the tank temp. almost excatly the same as the room temp. I definitely believe this is a big time waste of money and do not recommend this to anyone.

If you are looking for a good tank, try the Nanocube, or one of the marineland eclipse tanks. They are good, reliable, easy to use.

I get this thing and they forget to tell you about the big bulky power cord its impossible to feed the fish and a number of other problems

I have had many aquariums in my 62+yrs and although this one is a challenge it is no where near the bad buy some have reviewed it as. Trouble feeding? Why? Are your fingers fatter than 2" (oops maybe they are).Heavy top? Yeah it's in the middle of the floor and it's nice if it gets bumped and the "heavy" top doesn't fly off or break. Prob w/cords.....huh? I'm no Einstien but where's the prob?

The ONLY prob I have is the supplied filter is NOT adequate. I extensively researched filters and found the easiest and by far least expensive solution is to simply order a 2nd matching Power 85 directly from Midweast Tropical. I fits nicely next to the other and you can use your OWN charcoal and filter floss (FOUND FOR PENNIES PER USE ON THE NET) which nearly all other filters will not allow. They all take expensive proprietary mgfs cartridge/bag etc filter inserts and you can do your own for 85-90% cheaper! ALSO this way you can put STANDARD ACTIVATED CHARCOAL in one filter and AMMOINIA ABSORBER in the other and BULK floss in both and have twice the filter media at work.

Simple, cheap and VERY EFECTIVE....PROBLEM SOLVED!

This is an impressively beautiful tank, the perfect centerpeice for our living room. I recommend you install a floor-mount duplex receptacle as I did to eliminate having any visible power cords (the outlet is hidden beneath the tank one is always-on power for the pump, the other is for the light which I wired to a wall switch so you can turn the light on and off). Someone complained the top is too heavy, but it is not very easy to remove by yourself, or slide a bit for feeding/maintenance. The weight is just right. I do see a little condensation on the underside of the glass top where the air bubbles surface, but it's not significant and not a problem it doesn't hurt anything. Another reviewer complained about fish being able to jump out the openings on the sides: I haven't experienced this, maybe with certain types of fish it might be a problem (exacerbated perhaps by too high a water level?) but if I did have this problem I would simply make some wire-mesh cutouts in the proper shape and fashion some clips to hold them in place. In short, don't be dissuaded by the other reviewers buy this tank and you will likely be very pleased, as we are.

I have had my fish tank table for over 20 years. It was wonderful back then and still is in 2013. Everyone who visits me wants one. I give hints but truthfully want to be the only one who has it since it's so unique. This tank is wonderful even though a few small fish have jumped out and the cord is so visible. You can always buy a piece of rug to put over it and tape the cord down to it or find another way to hide it, it's not bad. Also the open space is good for putting the food in. This is a product that is as described and the LED light top is really pretty and cool. You can change it from just red, blue, green, or white, to combinations of those colors, to flashing, to softly fading, etc. It's fun to play with and looks great if you get a glow in the dark plant for it.

However, bowls this small are very unhealthy for Betta fish and you HAVE to change the water at least once a week or it will die. Mine lasted about... two months, maybe, then suddenly got sick and died even though I'd been changing his water a lot. The water gets smelly and nasty fast even with just one betta. After my fish died I sold this product to someone at my school for a lot less than original price, and I don't plan on getting this product again. If you don't mind if your fish dies after awhile of changing the water a lot go ahead and get it, but I'm going to spend a little more money on a 5 gallon with a filter instead of this for sure.

Petego-Jet Set Pet Carrier

I bought the medium and large Jet Set pet carrier through Amazon for my Chihuahua and Dachshund after looking at all the other carriers in New York pet stores. I simply wanted an attractive and rugged dog carrier that could genuinely withstand the rigors of travel and protect my dogs against inevitable knocks and jolts. It needed to be well padded and offer far more protection than the most popular soft carrier but also be able to squeeze under an airplane seat. However at home, I needed something that wasn't so utilitarian that it needed to be shut away but instead could function as a subtle and sensible den.

On the whole, I found almost all the competition either too feminine bordering on the stupid and/or too flimsy for serious consideration by anyone not just considering flying with a dog, but for any travel whether by car, subway or even bicycle!

The Jet Set carriers have proven themselves as very tough and practical. I like their well padded interiors and simple tough exterior (though I wish they came in other colors especially black or dark brown). The floor, side walls and ceiling all have what feels like at least a half inch of foam padding on a semi-rigid backing. The interior padding is covered in a soft black cloth. I wish that the floor was removable or there was a fleece lining I could buy so I simply line it with newspaper and cover with an old folded bath mat. The exterior shell in tough thick ballistic nylon (that as I mentioned I wish came in other more muted colors). On either side are windows with roll-up cover flaps and both ends have zippered soft nylon mesh openings. These offer a good mix of ventilation and privacy that some other dog carriers don't either too much or too little. Also my Dachshund has chewed through the soft plastic mesh of other brand dog carriers (that I was unhappy with for all the reasons I like the Jet Set) but at best, just flossed his teeth on the Jet Set's mesh.

I completely endorse and recommend the Jet Set bag. I can't imagine there is a better dog carrier on the market I certainly didn't find one in the dozen or more pet stores I visited in Manhattan ranging from Petco to very high end designer shops. They've performed amazingly well and at about $110 were excellent value for money especially compared to both cheaper and much more expensive carriers that look foolish and don't offer your dog enough protection on the move. I've seen some people on airplanes that have "fashion" dog bags that one could see were completely inadequate and inwhich the dog was uncomfortable and miserable. My dogs love their Jet Sets as dens at home (tucked under dining chairs in the corner of a room) and inasmuch seem just as relaxed and happy curled up/stretched out in them on the subway, in a plane or car.

I have a large 13 lb cat that I bought this bag for. The size was just right for him to stand and turn around. I traveled with this bag on American Airlines with no issue. Though the bag fit under the seat in front of me, it is a bit long. I was fortunate in that the person seated next to me did not have any carry-on luggage to stow as my bag did encroach into his space.

The mesh ventilation is good and bad. Good in that it is sturdy and will not be easily torn. Bad in that the holes are very small, providing little air flow. My cat was damp when I finally landed and was able to pull him out. I believe it to be due to the humidity build up in the bag.

The straps on the bag are awkward. The handle straps work ok. I was able to hold onto the bag this way for a while. Due to the size of the cat and his movement, it was hard to keep a steady balance. The shoulder straps were not that great. With a smaller pet, it might have been ok. When my cat would shift weight it would cause the bag to tip and my cat to slide to the bottom, resulting in the bag flipping on end. I ended up carrying him with two hands through the airport to try and keep the bag level.

Overall. The bag is good. It works with a larger cat and met the airline's requirements, which is just what I needed.

I definitely knew what the dimensions were when I ordered this because I needed to make sure it fit the requirements of United Airlines, however, this thing is really small! My dog will fit in it but she barely has room to curl up, she's going to be making the sides bulge to do so. She's a Chihuahua/Terrier, 12 pounds, and about 12" from collar to base of tail.

The mesh windows do seem very durable. My complaint is that the windows aren't big enough to give her much visual while inside. And it's difficult for me to see her inside of it and make sure she's comfortable.

Also the backpack "straps" are very uncomfortable, there is not padding on them and after wearing it with the dog for a few minutes they started to dig into my shoulders.

The top of the carrier has some "give" so it should be able to fit under any plane seat. Other carriers I've seen have very stiff piping that don't allow much pushing down on the top--which is good for safety reasons...Overall this carrier has lots and lots of padding to protect the dog on all sides.

My last "complaint" is that the soft insert that lies on the carrier floor doesn't velcro down, so that could move around a bit but it's not as bad as other carriers I've seen. We're taking her on a flight in about a month, so hopefully all goes well.

Hagen AquaClear 50 Nylon Bag, 2-Pack

Bought these to hold Seachem Matrix for use with my AquaClear 50. Requires the bag to be tied shut and does not have a draw string closure like some other media bags.

If you own or thinking about owning a Aquaclear filter get these, they will save you money. I use this size media bag on both my Aquaclear filers (20 & 50) and they work great. The mesh is the perfect size for containing my media Marineland Activated Carbon Diamond Blend 54 ozif you want or need to customize your filter media, this is the way to go

Not good for purigen. The small beads slip through. I didn't like the bag even if it worked for Purigen, they just feel cheap and the string is just attached, not threaded through the neck so you can't cinch it tight and tie it. They might as well have just included a loose piece of string for you to tie it with.

I had bought 1 of these at a local store, it was their last pkg, and I couldn't find them anywhere else, except here on Amazon. Where I live, we have very soft water, very low ph & I needed something to hold some crushed coral sand substrait together in my 4 gallon cube's power filter, so that when water flows threw it, it buffers the ph natrually with out having to add chemicals. I had used the 2 bags I had purshased from a store in my 55 gallon aquairium in this way & it worked great, I just needed to do the same with the cube. Much cheaper than the powdered additives ( I went that rout in the past & way to extreemly expensive fast!!!). Oh by the way, both of my aquariums are freshwater. Thank you!

The bag is very fine and has the capacity to hold very small filter media. I use it for activated carbon and will use the second for Seachem Matrix. I think this bag is effective.

AquaTop 36 LED Clip-On Light

this light works just as advertised on my 20 gallon aquarium

the blue selection gives it a nice reflection off the glass stones

at the bottom and really gives them a blue glow, the goldfish seem to like the light too. in the daytime the full light gives a shimmering effect in the water and all the colors in the decorations are vibrant, even seems to make the bubbles in the tank look better. this is way better than my old flourescent light, the fish are more colorful too.

UPDATE: STILL WORKS GREAT AND HAVE ANOTHER I USE ON COMPUTER DESK THAT MAKES THE BEST DESK LAMP AND DOESN'T PUT OUT HEAT LIKE MOST

The Problem with this product is they made the clamp to small so it will only clamp on a small tank.

I bought 4 of these to spot light a 75 gallon tank and they will not fit on the rim of the tank.

I wish they made a wider clamp.

So unless you have a small 10 or 20 gallon these will do you no good.

I bought 3. 2 Work just fine,1 has 3 white leds that went out after only having it for about a month -__ ...Besides that issue,they could use some memory. I have them on a timer so they turn on and off by themselves, when it's on I set the right like I want by turning a certain color off but since there's no memory, everytime it turns off then back on I have to manually set those colors off again.

I originally bought this for a 12 gal pico reef tank thinking that I could replace the 50/50 bulb that was currently there. The problem was that the light penetration was negligible the foot or so to the bottom of the tank and with all lights on the colors of the coral were not brought out like I have seen with other lights.

Now, I do have to say that it worked well for a moonlight accent when the room was dark. With the white LED's off and just the red, green, and blue on the tank looked pretty good but the disbursement angle still didn't cover some of the corals.

I have now moved it to a 5 gal cube that I have in my office and it does pretty well there.

All in all I would recommend this only for very small tanks and maybe just for accent lighting.

Remember: With these kinds of lights you generally get what you pay for

This light works, just wish it had more power to it. It was over my 3 Gallon Pico, it was good enough to grow some small coral, but I could barely see them because the light was so dim.

Love these LEDs , corals growing super fast and easy to plug and add more, and fits in almost all places.

I put these in on my main tank, SPS colored up beautifully and are growing like crazy. Growth everywhere,I added 2 of these with a single 12k white, 1 blue/magenta and 1 blue strip. Had the uv strip before the blue, the uv strip doesn't seem to bright but all the other types a real bright. No heat, no noise easy to set up. After seeing the colors that came out in my main tank, I've bought a second set of these for my frag tank. Don't know what Danf was talking about

These lights could barely light an enclosed dark space, let alone a fish tank. The images make the product seem like they "shimmer" and they are "stunner" but take my word for it, they dont. They dont give off the light that's represented by the picture of their product. Definitely not worth the money it costs. If you are looking for some LEDs that give off some real light check out some products by Current Usa. Their LEDs were 10 times brighter and way more then half off of what you would pay for these.

The seller was polite and prompt, but I cannot recommend this product.
