I got it to protect a school of baby fish from bigger fish in the tank, but the opening is much bigger than anticipated. It still gives them hiding areas around it and through smaller holes on it, but only would keep out large, big bodied fish (such as full grown silver dollars). Slim, longer bodied fish (ie. catfish and some cichlid types) can still get in there.

I bought a small tank which contained a whisper filter these size small filters work well and don't cloud the water. My only complaint is, if you have any larger debris that is sucked into the filter it falls out as you pull the cartridge out of the filter.

So I purchased this for my 5G tank that houses one betta (male). I also placed a few smaller ones in the tank, as well as a betta hammock. It may seem like a lot for a 5G, but its really not. I will post a pic in a few so you can see.

The plant(s) all look lovely, however, my betta, whom I have now decided to name "Brad Pitt" loves to hang out behind, and in the leaves. He'll rest in there all the time, and as of today (just got him), he just hangs in there. These are supposed to replicate a real enviro so I can understand, but jeez, come on, I wanna see you some times (just like the real Brad Pit, always dodging the media). He does pop out from time to time, but then back he goes. They are sik so I have no worries about him damaging his fins. I guess when he gets used to me, or his tank he'll swim around more. But if not, thats cool with me (they are a solitary breed). Overall, if you can, go to the store and buy a bunch, set them up, and your tank will look really nice.

After the most recent demise of my last BettaHot Temper, who bless his heart, lived 2 years in a 1 gallon fish bowl, I found myself in a fish store (not so soon after, I did mourn the little guy). I purchased a small heater to keep his temp at what is most conducive to his normal habitat, my Betta is making bubbles nests, and showing off like a full finned champ. I always thought I had a happy Betta, until now, this fish is unbelievably active and showy. I know it's a fish, but he sure reminds me of a puppy with fins! I love this little tank, perfect on a desk top, easy to set up, perfect for a Betta (just buy a heater, plants, gravel and hiding nook and you're set!) Love this!!

I got this aquarium almost 5 years ago, and I love it! I even have two now.

I've had several different kinds of fish, neons, barbs, but this aquarium is really awesome for a betta.

The filter is great and with a betta I only change the filter every 4-5 months (no algae or anything). For multiple fish I had to change it maybe every three months because of the excess... waste :)

There is plenty of room in here for my betta, a plant and a little rock he likes to hide in as well as some gravel. The only reason I ordered the 5 gallon version of this tank is that my Betta has been alive for nearly 2 years and he's huge now! So I'm going to put my smaller betta in the 2.5g and I got the 5g mini bow for my betta-shark ;)

This aquarium has stood the test of time, I took it to my dorm and it moved with me into my apartment and has no scratches or leaks or anything. Because mine is rather old I've gone through about 2 light bulbs but Wal-mart carries replacements so it wasn't a big deal. Mine is also some what dirty on the outside (dust and gunk) but that's due to the age.

This aquarium would be perfect for any kids or first time aquarium owners! I absolutely love it and would recommend it to anyone... EVERYONE!

It's hard to find a small aquarium with an actual filter instead of just a bubbler, and this is perfect. I only wish I had gotten it in a different color because the red doesn't really match anything now!

I bought this item at a local pet shop and immediately had to bring it back because the lower part of the filter had not been included with the kit. I told the people at the pet store and they told me that they have had a LOT of problems with Aqueon not including all of the kit parts in the box, and that they were planning on having a discussion with their Aqueon rep about the issue. It wasn't a huge deal, but I would certainly hesitate when buying this product online, because of the difficulty of return. They gave me a new one, but not before opening the new box and checking to make sure every single item was in there. (The person who was originally behind the counter was apparently a new employee and didn't realize there was an ongoing problem with Aqueon, so she didn't open the box to make sure everything was in the box)

Otherwise, the product works as advertised.

Love the tank, love the filter. Works amazing. Only problem was my beta could not swim against the current of the filter sucking in water. I had to jimmy-rig something with some tubing to reduce the suction in one area and so my fish could swim. Other than that, good tank for some other fish maybe.

I bought this little tank for my desk at work, since it was the perfect size for a pico saltwater reef. For the most part, I'm liking it.

The light bulb that came with it was absolutely worthless, but that's common with MOST things that come with bulbs, so no harm there. I replaced it with a 9w Corallife 50/50 mini compact fluorescent. That bulb alone would be more than enough to keep many types of corals in a tank this small...except for one design flaw that I couldn't see until I got the product out of the box.

The light bulb screws in on the right and points to the left, so the bulb is more on the left side of the tank than the right. This wouldn't be a problem, except that the built-in filter is ALSO on the left side of the tank. The filter hooks onto the side of the frame, so it will ONLY go in this one spot, and consequently, it blocks more than 50% of the light!

While this product has its uses, I should have known better than to try to buy a cheap product for serious--rather than casual--use. I can adapt this one to work, but I should have saved myself the trouble and gotten a more professional item to start with.

The devise works very well however you may have to make a trip to your local hardware store for an adapter for it to attach to your kitchen sink. It fit to my bathroom sink but not my kitchen sink. a $2 part will fix that though. I would have given it a 5 had it come with ALL the correct adapters and if the suction cup clips would hold the tube in place when the water is turned on.

Other than that a decent product.

Very useful tool for the aquarium enthusiast. Easy hookup to my kitchen sink. I tried it on my 10 gallon tank to test it. It works great but I wouldn't recommend it for small tanks. It sucked out water at a very high rate even after adjusting the flow. I don't know what tank size minimum is best but I bought it primarily to use on my new 55 gallon tank and the rate issue is not a problem. The only thing with larger tanks is obviously it takes longer so be wary of your water bill. In the future I think I'll get some kind of system with an electric pump to save on water usage.

I have a 55 gallon tank and water changes can be trying. This products help a great deal but it is not very effective with the faucet hook up. The adapter that came with it dose not fit MY faucet, although it may fit yours, and the water usage is not at all practical. I have found using it as a siphoning system works just as well (if not better) and is a lot more practical. The length of the hose is great for draining the water right into the sink. Filling the tank straight from the faucet is by far the best part. It's worth the money just for that, but adding water with fish in the tank worries me because of the chlorine in our water so I won't do that. I'd recommend it to anyone with a large tank if you have a small tank, anything under 35 gal, it may not be what your looking for.

This works well to empty and refill tanks. I have four tanks and this makes water changes go by really fast.

Tip: When pulling water from tanks, you can get the suction going and then shut the water off at the sink so that you don' waste water and it will siphon out on its own.

I have also owned the python system and I would say that they are the same. I am glad that I purchased the Marina version again and saved some money for something else.

We have been using our 25 foot hose for over a year, and unable to buy another faucet coupling, we bought a 50 foot unit too. We have 13 aquariums ranging from a ten gallon to 80 and 90 gallons and raise angelfish so we do a lot of water changing. Using the hoses attached to our kitchen and bathroom faucets, we can change 20% of water in all our tanks in 1 1/2 hours. We do this every week, and daily in our fry tanks, and would be facing a lot more obstacles if we didn't have these water changer hoses. After about 4 weeks in the tank it started to fall apart. I noticed hot pink chunks floating around in the tank. Had to do a full water change and tank it out right away. I replaced it with a nice red silk plant that looks just as good.

I bought the Pro 3 2075 brand new in Sept 2012 that came with a 3 year warranty. The filter leaked after 2 years destroying my $350 wooden stand. Water leaked out near the power cord. After searching the net I found out that this was a common issue among Pro 3 filters made before Aug 2010. There have also been countless reports of Eheim's Customer Support department ignoring customer emails when contacted for warranty claims.

I emailed them and immediately the next day I received a reply asking for the Serial number, the shipping address and the retail store from which I bought the filter. I replied with the information and that was the last I heard from them. I have sent them 4 more emails since then and they completely ignored them. I have been another victim of their scam.

Apparently Eheim is engaging in fraudulent acitivities, marketing their filters as "Premium" products that come with a 3 year warranty. However, they will try their best NOT to honor the warranty. Maybe I need to call them everyday and write nasty letters to get them to acknowledge my issue. I know some of their victims have received a replacement head unit this way after sending threatening emails and making repeated phone calls. However, it shouldn't have to be this difficult.

I have another Pro 2 filter that also leaked after 6 years of operation. From what I have heard, the company was bought and the quality of customer service has become horrible since then. It is now reaching the point of fraud.

I will never buy another Eheim product again. Beware!!!

Update: I called their 800 number and was told that they shipped the head unit to my old address and it went back to their warehouse. They sent another one to my new address. It was still annoying that they put my email on ignore for some stupid reason.

I purchased the EHEIM Professional 3 1200 XL Model #: 2080 canister filter off eBay for my 300 gallon stock tank. Everything seems to be working ok, however I was missing some parts. I could tell this unit was a brand new unit and not a refurb / opened returned item. Everything was in it's original packaging, nice and snug and has that new plastic smell to it.

Anyways, for some reason it's missing the clips to hold the tubes. It only came with 1 clip, and clearly (by the instructions) I should have received more than that; like 6 in total. I contacted EHEIM North America and they responded to my initial e-mail advising me to e-mail them my proof of purchase. Fine, no problem. But then the next day I get one of those mailer daemon bounced e-mail error messages, indicating the e-mail didn't go through.

So I tried their online "contact us" form. They replied but did not address the missing parts. All they said was for me to send it to them via e-mail, when I clearly stated to them that their e-mail wasn't working and that the e-mails were bouncing back. Since then, I've tried to send them my proof of purchase several times and now they're simply ignoring my e-mails. I have proof of purchase, it's well within the warranty period (just a month old) and they're sweeping this issue under the rug.

I'm filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and am advising you to think twice before purchasing this filter. Don't get me wrong, it's a good filter which is why I'm giving it 3 stars....but if the manufacturers refuse to take care of their customers (which in my case they have), that diminishes the rating. If you're going to buy it, I strongly suggest you buy it from a shop locally (and not online like I did) so that if push comes to shove, you can return it with ease. Now I'm stuck with a canister filter, and have to buy parts (at an additional cost to me) to compensate for the missing parts.

I love this filter. It provides a massive area (as canister filters go) for growing nitrifying bacteria. However, it is insanely expensive and comes without media, which can add another $120 to the overall cost. Due to its size and weight, servicing can be difficult. I'd recommend using it solely as a biofilter, and adding a couple of Magnum 350's for your chemical and mechanical filtration needs. But it is unbelievably quiet and I like the spraybar that's included. My only complaint is the ridiculous instruction manual. Even with 20+ years of using canister filters, it took me two days to get the filter running properly, and that was after contacting Eheim customer support. If the intake tubes (yes, there are 2 of them) are not installed properly, and the manual doesn't mention this, the filter will suck air and eventually stop pumping. I know this sounds like a no-brainer, but you have to experience this to know what I'm talking about. Perhaps if the manual wasn't written in 17 different languages, the publisher would have had more room the include the essential details needed to get this thing running in two hours, and not two days.

So far so good. I've had this filter for a month now and it works great! I just changed the filter pads out yesterday, and the media is still going strong. I use the Eheim 2080 for a 100gal turtle tank, one turtle. The filter is well made. Clearly the designers thought about how the filter will actually be used. The filter pads are located at the top of the canister and the filter comes with a tray to make it easy to take the blue pad out and wash it in the sink. I suspect that a full filter cleaning will be a bit more cumbersome since the canister is large and heavy when filled. But the little wheels at the bottom are surprisingly helpful. And it appears the parts that will need to be washed are easy to remove, unlike my previous filter. If you have a turtle(s), I would highly recommend buying this filter. The up front costs are high, but well worth it given the time you save not having to do a full filter cleaning every 3 weeks. I only wish my local pet store carried the filter pads.

I've been running this on my 90 gallon aquarium for close to 2 months now. I have no ammonia problems and crystal clear water. This filter will handle an enormous bio load. I don't have an overstocked tank. In fact, I only have 3 angelfish, 2 albino bristlenose plecos, and plenty of plants in my 90g tank. The community will grow. But, judging by the amount of bio media this thing can hold, I don't intend on seeing any ammonia spikes when I add stock. I ran a fishless cycle on my tank, so the filter should be overloaded with beneficial bacteria.

I could tell my betta was much happier once I started using this. I was using a sample of Zoo Med's water conditioner that came with his fish tank, and it didn't seem to be doing much. I switched to this once it came, and he started blowing bubble nests once I started putting it in the water!

However, it is a very small bottle, and goes fast, and if you keep buying new ones at $7 a bottle...it adds up. I have no complaints whatsoever about the product itself! I love it! But I switched to API stress coat conditioner, just because it's cheaper, comes in bigger bottles, and I use far less of it per gallon (1/2 mL of API per gallon vs. 5 mL of Aqueon per gallon.)

This is a good product. However, I have Amazon Prime so it was automatically sent to me via 2-day shipping which obviously involved air travel. When it arrived, the package was dripping fluid, as the top had burst due to the air pressure inside the plane and all the contents had leaked out. I returned the empty bottle and asked for a replacement, hoping it was just a fluke that all the liquid leaked out the first time. The replacement package arrived 2 days later with TWO bottles of the product, each one having leaked about half its fluid. I combined what was left into one bottle and was happy. But really Amazon, just ship it via UPS Ground next time.

SunSun HW-302 3-Stage External Canister Filter, 264 gph

I know that there are a lot of complaints about the setup of this filter, but given the price point I went for it anyway. Let me just say I am super impressed with it. I have it on a fully planted 50 gallon aquarium and it has cut my maintenance of the system down to almost nill beyond water changes.

The canister only comes with filter-floss like pads for the three baskets and you have to provide your own media. I ended up stacking all three pads into one basket and getting ceramic rings, scrubby pads and charcoal for the other two. My tank has never been so clear and I only even check on the canister about once every three to four weeks. Not to mention that the filter is almost dead silent.

As far as the setup goes, sure the hoses are a little stiff, and the directions are general for all of the canisters that this company sells, but honestly this is my first canister filter and it was not that difficult for me to setup.

I have the 302 and 303B, both running for months. They are quiet and efficient. My tanks have never looked better or been healthier. The 302 was my first canister filter, so it did take me some time to figure it out. Instructions could definitely be improved. I had read other reviews that advised to prefill the canister with water to simplify priming, and it worked like a charm. The first cleaning was an adventure trying to figure out how to get the media baskets out and back in correctly, but again, once learned its no big deal. Bottom line, you can't beat these filters for the price.

when opening this filter the first thing i noticed was the tubes are coiled in the box the big problem with that is they don't uncoil very well so it tends to make a bunch of loops as it makes its way to the tank. also priming is not that easy because the plastic parts that go into the tank like to draw air. i am in the process of glueing them together. also i bought this for a turtle tank this is a filter for a tank that is completely full of water or you might have problems. also this dose come with filter media which was not very clear. also the instructions are the worst i have ever seen. they tell you almost nothing. this one has a hand pump type prime and you can't have both hoses in the water when you prime. but once you figure out everything and with a little modification it seem to work ok.

It came completely as described. Shipping seemed to take forever, but it came in the delivery window. I've had it up and running for months now and have cleaned it 2 or 3 times so far. The white polyester filter pads that come with it wear out quickly. I fixed that issue by buying the cut to size filter media and making my own. I have been very impressed with this product and have noticed lots of nice growth and coloration on my corals since I started using it. The smell is not bad at all and I do keep it in the fridge although it says on the bottle that it does not require refrigeration.

amazon sent me filter pads for a much larger canister filter, i'm not sure which model, but they were the size of dinner plates. thenmuch to my chagrin, they did not allow me to return for a refund. i would rate this zero stars if i couldextremely disappointed in their service and support, and i'm a prime customer who spends quite a bit.

hopefully this doesn't happen to the next person, but buyer beware. if amazon messes up, you're stuck with what they send you.

Ive tried a lot of filters. The easy flow are simple and easy to change but my water was always cloudy.

The Eheim filter may be very well the only filter canister I will ever own.

Filter collects all the yucky sludge of your aquarium to help keep the water clear and sparkling.

The one down side is the cost. I think they are a bit expensive for about 3.75 a pad which bought in packs of 3 .... So I buy whenever I see a sale. Can't have too many in stock

Aquarium Products Ammonia Test Strips (Freshwater), 100ct

Heed the warning of the other reviewer if you really want this product: get the small bottle! I ignored it and got this bottle anyway and, just like the other person, my bottle came within just a couple months of its expiration meaning that I will likely have to throw out at least half if not more.

The real reason I don't like this product is because you have to use the test tube and shake the strips in the tube for 30 seconds which is really a pain when testing multiple aquariums. I prefer a quick reading and will stick with the Quick Dip strips JUNGLE AMMONIA NO VIAL 25 CT from now on.

I bought this bottle of a hundred strips...the short expiration time hit when I was less than halfway through. After that the test gets unreliable and hard to color match. But it is a good product...just buy a smaller bottle if you don't use it very often.

I like this product because it's relatively quick and simple. Regular ammonia tests take about 15-20min to show accurate results, but this only takes about 3min total from start to finish.

There is a major downside to this product and that is accuracy. The test is never even close to accurate when compared to two other regular testing kits which use a vial and chemical drops over a 15-20min period to show results. I think this is a good "quick" test but it should not be used as the only test. I now use the strips to watch for changes in the ammonia levels as opposed to trying to get an accurate reading. Ammonia should always be as close to 0 as possible, but realistically I try to keep it below 0.25ppm. The test strips always tell me that the ammonia is around 1.0 which is unsafe for my fish, but my two regular test kits indicate that my ammonia is between 0-0.25ppm which is safe for my fish. So the test really isn't accurate, but it does register changes so when the strip says it's higher than 1.0ppm I can usually see a slight increase when I test with the test kits. At first I thought it might be close to the expiration date like some other reviews said, but my bottle is good until April 2013.

I recommend this product as a quick test to watch for changes, but I don't recommend this as the only test you use. Monitoring water quality levels is important, and high ammonia is toxic for most fish so it is important to understand the accurate levels.

MR. Aqua Plastic Check Valve

I've had these blue check valves for air pumps on a 46g and a 24g Nano for 6 months. these check valves DO have an arrow for easy setup. I haven't had any backflows after 6 months. The product works as advertised, and they are the best looking check valves available IMO. They especially look sharp on my aquarium with the black tubing.

The air valve that you receive does not have an arrow on it, therefore, you have no idea which way to place it on your tubing. Also, all packaging and writing is in Japanese. Not helpful, and not a good product.

It's well made but nothing to write home about, especially at the high price. Also, it is clear (transparent), not blue as pictured. (I think that's the picture for the Hagen Elite brand)... Anyway, I'd recommend you find a "Elite"-brand check valve and NO other. They are the most durable, long-lasting, and well made. And affordable.

wanted a check valve on my co2 system. Have one in place but you can be to safe. For the price I like that I can change it out every year or so as plastic is not recommended for Co2.

Got this for an overflow I made, but it did not last and let air through--thereby breaking the seal in my overflow pipe. Ended up buying one in store from petco.
