I was looking for something for my live breeder babies to hide in. This grass worked great. It stats weighed down but my river rock and looks great. I was expecting them to be slightly larger, there are 3 pieces, aproxamatly 2x3 inches. The mat can be put together many ways or completely seppqarated. Great look for a cheap price, i may order another.

I purchased this product at a local fish store and have used it for over 1 year. I first placed these grass mats in a tank with several Tiger Barbs and Black Kuhli Loaches. Before adding the grass mats my Loaches were extremely shy and hardly ever visible in my tank despite having subdued lighting. After adding the grass mats my Loaches came to life. They thoroughly enjoy weaving their eel-like bodies in and out of the blades of grass as they "play." These grass mats have given them confidence to come out and play and allow them to be more easily viewed while they are "hiding."

The grass mats are also a good substrate for algae growth and many of my algae eaters attach themselves to the blades to eat the green algae. In a well established aquarium these mats will grow a dark green algae that adds a nice contrast to the tank and makes it more realistic looking.

It is important to remove these grass mats when you do gravel vacuuming since they do tend to promote the build up of pockets of debris within the gravel. After removing the grass mats they are very simple to "re-install." I usually clear away some gravel from the area I intend to place the mats and set them down while dropping handfuls of gravel over the mat to help weigh it down. If you disturb the gravel over the grass mat it will settle and the blades will become visible again.

All in all, these grass mats are a beautiful addition to any aquarium and are thoroughly enjoyed by many types of fish.

I needed more places for the babies to hide when my platties gave birth. So far they have managed to not become food for the other fish. Some of the leaves were detached when I received it but they easily go back on. The plastic didn't seem to have sharp edges. I separated it into three pieces. I really liked the way it looked in the tank so I purchased another one.

It was a chore getting this grass to stay down in the tank, but finally managed to use a few sprigs of it. If you purchase it, leave it is large of a section as you can, put it down first, then dump your rocks/sand on top of it and pull it up to height. Also, the sprigs were not as "soft" as I was hoping. No motion underwater.

First let me say, I like the thing. I use it as an auto-top-off solution, and it's literally one of the only float valves correctly sized for a sump tank. . I'm glad I bought it and saved $$ over an expensive ATO like the Osmolator. However, a couple of drawbacks:

Construction isn't the best. It's a bit "wobbly" when mounted. The insert where the hose goes in is less-than-reliable. The hose doesn't fit in watertight very well, it takes a lot of maneuvering to get the drips to stop. I've also had it pop out, and nearly flood my sump before I caught it. There's also no way to turn it off for water changes, etc.

Out of the box, I wouldn't necessarily see this as "set it and forget it." I ended up permanently sealing the inlet with glue and silicone, and put a ball valve on the hose a few inches from the intake. That way not only is there a nice tight seal on the inlet, but I can stop the flow during a water change etc.

I'd recommend it to people, but only if they realize that you have to take some steps to ensure it's reliable functionality.

I recieved the product in a timely manor. I did have to alter one thing on the product. the hole that allowed the water to seep through was small (microscopic). So, I opened it up more for my preference. Love the product. It come out of the box assembled all I had to do was tie in my water line that fed it.

I liked the product, It does what I need it to do, but be careful you don't always get what you see. The picture and advertisement were not what came in the box. The picture showed a 90 degreee fitting and it came with a straight fitting. I called and Sandy was nice enough to send me the proper fitting I needed. She also sent me a neopreme washer because it came with a broken one. Be very carefull the clear plastic ring that holds the float is very brittle and after tighting mine and trying to to turn the float a little it snapped right off.

i cant believe i was manually adding water to my tank. I couldnt be gone from home more than 2 days. I have a 30 gal square rimless tank with a MH lighting. My tank evaporates almost 2 gallons/day. I plumbed under my house directly from RO unit and it is maintenance free. This is hands down the best investment i have made for my reef tank. Do yourself the favor and buy this and dont try to diy. I used this as a remedy for a recurring candida flare up in my eye (swollen, itchy, red), and there was a huge obvious improvement overnight. If you are researching this aliment and considering this as a possible remedy, i absolutely recommend it. I use this for a bath for new additions to the tank. They get a five minute bath, then acclimate. The bottle I received a bottle well packed and sealed with tape. I received it quickly as well. I know that there are a lot of complaints about the setup of this filter, but given the price point I went for it anyway. Let me just say I am super impressed with it. I have it on a fully planted 50 gallon aquarium and it has cut my maintenance of the system down to almost nill beyond water changes.

The canister only comes with filter-floss like pads for the three baskets and you have to provide your own media. I ended up stacking all three pads into one basket and getting ceramic rings, scrubby pads and charcoal for the other two. My tank has never been so clear and I only even check on the canister about once every three to four weeks. Not to mention that the filter is almost dead silent.

As far as the setup goes, sure the hoses are a little stiff, and the directions are general for all of the canisters that this company sells, but honestly this is my first canister filter and it was not that difficult for me to setup.

I have the 302 and 303B, both running for months. They are quiet and efficient. My tanks have never looked better or been healthier. The 302 was my first canister filter, so it did take me some time to figure it out. Instructions could definitely be improved. I had read other reviews that advised to prefill the canister with water to simplify priming, and it worked like a charm. The first cleaning was an adventure trying to figure out how to get the media baskets out and back in correctly, but again, once learned its no big deal. Bottom line, you can't beat these filters for the price.

when opening this filter the first thing i noticed was the tubes are coiled in the box the big problem with that is they don't uncoil very well so it tends to make a bunch of loops as it makes its way to the tank. also priming is not that easy because the plastic parts that go into the tank like to draw air. i am in the process of glueing them together. also i bought this for a turtle tank this is a filter for a tank that is completely full of water or you might have problems. also this dose come with filter media which was not very clear. also the instructions are the worst i have ever seen. they tell you almost nothing. this one has a hand pump type prime and you can't have both hoses in the water when you prime. but once you figure out everything and with a little modification it seem to work ok.

I needed a decoration of sorts that would big enough to allow my 20" pleco room to swim through. I've tried all sorts logs for aquariums and even terrariums. The description says X-Large and sure enough, not nearly big enough. I had a temporary solution, but needed a final home. I bought this one thinking it could very well be one more miss. I was wrong. Completely big enough for the pleco to swim through, and still be able to peek though the side hole. I can't say enough. Highly recommended.

Great home for my 12" albino pleco! Just moved up to a 55 gallon tank from a 20 gallon in order to give my pleco and a couple of his buddies more room to move around. This is just the ticket. I bought this heater to replace a Fluval E series that was no longer holding a stable temperature. The temperature is much easier to set than the Fluval with only one button to press. The adjustment lever on the Fluval would stick making it hard to set. This is by far easier to adjust than any heater I've owned. The current temperature display is also easy to read from across the room. You can place the heater in any position because of the external sensor. The temperature fluctuates only within one degree F of the setting and I verified the current temperature display is accurate with a separate thermometer.

The heater arrived with one of the suction cups slightly deformed so that it wouldn't stick to the glass. I contacted the manufacturer and they responded within a day. I received a set of replacement suction cups about a week later free of charge. I highly recommend this product based on the quality of the product and customer service. I've been keeping aquariums for years and I know through experience that a quality heater is important, a malfunction can easily crash your tank.

We got this heater for our 10 gallon tank. We live in a warm climate where we don't always need to turn the heat on at night for ourselves, but do need to make sure that the fish tanks are still kept at the right temp. As I said this is being used in our 10 gallon tank. It's just short enough not to hit the bottom and I really like how the heater tells you the temp of the water. It's also really easy to operate and adjust the temp. if needed. It seems much better than our old heater. It was wicked easy to set up and has been in the tank for about a month now.

I got this heater for 5 gallon aquarium for my betta fish... My fishie was frustrated, started flaring (by its nature its a fighting fish and has territory issues lol) by the red light of the heater. I found a way to overcome this.. I had to arrange the heater so that the reflection of the red light doesnt fall on the glass of aquarium. Now my fishie really loves this one! It keeps circling happily around the heater when I turn it on. The glass material of heater was easy to clean however the plastic part gets slimy and needed more cleaning... Leaked immediately upon assembly around the shroud of the pump's impeller. Took apart multiple times to fix the problem. O-ring was seated correctly every time, just wasn't getting a good enough seal. Used silicone lubricant on the o-ring and so far it's fixed the leak. I'm confident I won't have any more trouble, but was pretty frustrating. If you purchase this product, I'd suggest lubricating all the o-rings and thoroughly checking for leaks.

I received this 2 days ago. Simple to set up and get going. As with all skimmers minor tweaking needed. I had light colored skim in 12 hours. I put this on my seahorse tank. absolutely NO micro bubbles entering the tank. Which is great. My previous skimmer blew micro bubbles all over the place and took 2 weeks to break in.

Leaked 1st day! That was the first problem.

I have a 30 gallon sump(refugium) it does not fit on that, I had to use Velcro to keep it in place.

The output line for the waste is horribly placed. If Eshopps whants to learn something look at the Super Skimmer from Coral Life. Put the output line at the bottom so sediments dont just sit in there. If you want to put this in your sump dont buy it. If you want it to hang from your aquarium maybe its worth it.

Using replica coral isn't just less expensive than actual dried coral, it protects our delicate reef systems which as you may already know are compromised world wide and many are failing. If you keep live corals these blend in easily and add a great deal of visual impact and make a sramatic impact to most any tank and any decor. They are of course a magnet for algae but then what isn't?

The good news is these pieces can be bleached in fact as I write this review I have an X lARGE Staghorn and a few of Deep Blues replica Texas Holey rocks bleaching in a large tub. The ratio for safe bleaching should be one part bleach to 10 parts water. When all traces of algae are gone run and rinse with clean cold water until all traces of the scent of bleach are gone. Prior to placing the pieces back into an aquarium it's important to neutralize any traces of bleach with a product like PRIME by SeaChem after that you're good to go.

The Octopus coral is especially nice if you run some LED air wands behind and or in front of the piece. I use white and Lunar blue and find the new bendable LED bubble wands by Aqueon the best yet. The LED lights are clear and bright, the bubbles uniform and each wand can be bent along the base of the coral which creates spectacular shadows while illuminating the branches from beneath.

This beautiful piece makes a stunning addition to any tank.

It's my fault, I probably should have gotten something in a darker blue color.

Hagen Marina Betta Aquarium Starter Kit, Geo Bubbles

This product should not be used for betta fish. It was recommended to us by the pet shop employee, and since we'd never owned bettas before, we bought it. Very cute tank, but the problems that come with it are enough to kill the fish. We learned this the hard way.

First, the 1/2 gallon tank is way too small. Betta enthusiast websites say to get at least a 2-5 gallon tank.

Second, the product instructions recommend weekly 50% water changes (not nearly enough to clear the toxins), room temperature water (bettas prefer about 78-80 degree water), and say nothing about testing pH, ammonia or nitrate/nitrite levels. If any of these get out of whack, the fish becomes stressed and can easily succumb to bacterial diseases.

Third, the rocks that come with the tank are way too small--they are hard to clean properly without getting them everywhere. The fish might even be able to swallow some of the tiny fragments.

If you want healthy bettas, skip this "starter tank." Buy a larger tank with a heater, filter, larger gravel and water testing kits.

This is one of the best looking half gallon tanks on the market.

It would be better if made of glass but it looks amazing. would strongly suggest getting the LED light kit for it as it makes it a much better tank.

IT IS TOO SMALL FOR BETTA FISH, my particular one I had filled with grey sand, and various rocks and sea shells my girlfriend had found on the beach, and amarimo moss ball, with a pregnant ghost shrimp. I had a betta in here (female) and it clouded the tank. I had transported that female betta into a tank that was planted, and modified a 1 gallon filter to work in a betta bowl no water changes needed (purigen filled bag instead of carbon so reusable and re-bleachable).

I purchased another one I store under a t5 grow light next to my herb garden to grow coral frags in. id recommend this tank for anything other than betta fish, pico-aquascapes, baby mallies, or pregnant shrimp, a chaeto raising tank or frag tank is all good

just no betta. ignore the idiots griping about getting a 5 or 10 gallon for a betta that is just fish/aquarium snobbery you only need about half a gallon...but if you're lazy like me and hate weekly water changes on freshwater fish (salt water tanks need it reguardless) then just throw your betta in a gallon tank with a plant and filter, remove the carbon rocks and replace with purigen and never worry about water changes or cleaning ever again

This betta tank is very cute. I love the design on the back and the gravel center. Every time I walk into my room I smile because it's such a great looking tank. It is really small, and I wouldn't recommend it to many fish, but I think it is perfect for a betta. I think Sprite(my betta) is enjoying it as much as I am! Sprite has been in many different environments. First he was in a bowl without a filter and was hard to clean.(This tank is so tiny that it is very easy to clean!) So then we moved him into filtered bowl. When we moved, he lived in a tiny environment. You know those little cylinder shaped things that you buy the betta in? He was in there for weeks. But after we unpacked his old filtered bowl, he lived in there some more. But then one night the bowl mysteriously cracked and the water leaked out. He is lucky to be alive! Really not a good choice for betta or goldfish (as I've seen someone use it for that). Goldfish are a lot of maintenance and need 30+ gallons and water changes every other week. Betta need at least 2.5 gallons with a filter (unless you change every day or every other day with safe water) and a heater (unless you live somewhere where the room temperature will keep the water between 70 and 80 degrees. They also are much happier with decorations, especially places they can hide in and explore. The only thing I can thing of that is suitable for this tank is a marimo moss ball. I wouldn't put any animals in this.

I am a hamster breeder of Russian dwarf hamsters and I have five different 'Here and There' cages from Penn-Plax. One is the economy and it is a good price but my hamsters like the larger versions. I have two small, one medium, and one large. My favorite is this one, I call it the medium size. It is a well built cage, easy to clean, my hamsters love climbing the bubble tube up to the top level. It is easy to detach the carrier on the top. I have tried several other brands even a ten gallon tank and the 'Here and There' cages are the best on the market. You won't go wrong buying this one for your fist hamster. It holds 4 or 5 easily, but I suggest no more then 4 Russian dwarf hamsters. Other breeds are solitary and you cannot put more then one in a cage.

I love this cage BUT having a gerbil that likes to chew I am UNABLE to find replacement parts that make this cage unuseable. My LJ chewed through the tunnel that goes up the back, no biggy gerbils chew but when I went to replace it can't find the part at the pet store, online, webpage or customer service now the case can not be lived in.

My little Hammy loves this cage! She would get really bored in her aquarium style cage, but this one has plenty activities for her and she likes it a lot. I find it ok tho -b/c I figure it will be hard to clean. Also, while the wheel does not squeak, it is still not silent b/c when my hammy runs then the whole cage shakes. So, if noise is a major issue, then I would not recommend this cage. I like that it has a tilt bottle, traveler and decent size wheel which were the highest priorities for me. I've only had it for 1 day but she (my Syrian long-haired teddy bear hamster) hasn't escaped from it. I'm hoping it stays that way. I think dwarf hamsters might be able to squeeze themselves through.

Gidget and Gizmo absolutely love this cage! It comes about fairly easy to clean, too. While they love exploring the different levels, the base isn't quite deep enough to let them burrow as much as they'd like. I'd suggest getting an attachment. Also, the wheel tends to shake the whole cage. The noise doesn't bother me as they tend to be on the same sleep schedule that I am. I would suggest getting a different water bottle, though. The one it comes with is super cheap and mine was leaky.

On the plus side, the cage seems to be pretty sturdy. My two very hyper gerbils have yet to escape it. Also the food dish sits snug inside the platform so they can't knock it over (which is great because my gerbils love to play with their food).

My only suggestion is to provide plenty of chew toys/treats for them as they tend to nibble on the plastic when they get bored.

Overall, it's a pretty good starter cage.

THere should be a zero rating for dangerous items. I bought this cage for my classroom hamster Spike. I set it up on Friday, came into school today, and Spike was stuck in the pipe, half in and half out. He was terrified, dehydrated and half dead. He is a furry teddy bear hamster. There should be a warning on the box about the size of hamster that can fit in the tubes. I'm reading other horror stories about them escaping from this cage, as well as feet getting stuck and legs broken in the spinning wheel. NOT SAFE for regular sized or furry teddy bear hamsters.

I really do enjoy the look of this item. There is one issue however, it floats. It is very difficult to get this to stick in substrate, and with fish bumping into it and such, I was constantly putting my arm in the tank to put this back down. I did finally decide to take it out of the tank, which is a shame, because it did look very neat.

It was a little bigger than I thought...using it in a 5 gallon aquarium. However, it is still perfect and looks amazing. Would be ideal for any aquarium larger than 5 gallon.

Eshopps Coral Magnetic Frag Rack - Clear Corner - 13 plug 6x6"

This is an attractive product. The surfaces are smooth and free from any defects. However, the magnets are not strong enough to hold the rack when half filled with frags on a 5/8 thick glass walled tank. I had to add stronger magnets to get any use out of it at all. The plug holes are not large enough for the typical ceramic frag plug. They do sent two of their clear plastic plugs that fit but otherwise you have to drill the holes out for other plugs. For the price, I would not recommend this product.
