I was looking for something for my live breeder babies to hide in. This grass worked great. It stats weighed down but my river rock and looks great. I was expecting them to be slightly larger, there are 3 pieces, aproxamatly 2x3 inches. The mat can be put together many ways or completely seppqarated. Great look for a cheap price, i may order another.

I purchased this product at a local fish store and have used it for over 1 year. I first placed these grass mats in a tank with several Tiger Barbs and Black Kuhli Loaches. Before adding the grass mats my Loaches were extremely shy and hardly ever visible in my tank despite having subdued lighting. After adding the grass mats my Loaches came to life. They thoroughly enjoy weaving their eel-like bodies in and out of the blades of grass as they "play." These grass mats have given them confidence to come out and play and allow them to be more easily viewed while they are "hiding."

The grass mats are also a good substrate for algae growth and many of my algae eaters attach themselves to the blades to eat the green algae. In a well established aquarium these mats will grow a dark green algae that adds a nice contrast to the tank and makes it more realistic looking.

It is important to remove these grass mats when you do gravel vacuuming since they do tend to promote the build up of pockets of debris within the gravel. After removing the grass mats they are very simple to "re-install." I usually clear away some gravel from the area I intend to place the mats and set them down while dropping handfuls of gravel over the mat to help weigh it down. If you disturb the gravel over the grass mat it will settle and the blades will become visible again.

All in all, these grass mats are a beautiful addition to any aquarium and are thoroughly enjoyed by many types of fish.

I needed more places for the babies to hide when my platties gave birth. So far they have managed to not become food for the other fish. Some of the leaves were detached when I received it but they easily go back on. The plastic didn't seem to have sharp edges. I separated it into three pieces. I really liked the way it looked in the tank so I purchased another one.

It was a chore getting this grass to stay down in the tank, but finally managed to use a few sprigs of it. If you purchase it, leave it is large of a section as you can, put it down first, then dump your rocks/sand on top of it and pull it up to height. Also, the sprigs were not as "soft" as I was hoping. No motion underwater.

These are far better than any of the overpriced and often flimsy plastic gang valves. They work smoothly, don't leak, and you can clearly see by the position of each lever how much air is being fed to each attachment.

The only improvement would be adding a means to hang it on a tank. Almost perfect.

The construction is solid metal, and you can remove the black cap on the other side to either extend your tubing, or simply run to the other outlet on your air pump (assuming you have one)

The only gripe is with adjusting air delivery. Very fine adjustments are needed if you need certain amounts of air down a tube. This may take a little patience, if your adjusting a lot.

It would be nice if it had some kind of mount to attach it to things.

Received package and knew almost immediately that there was an issue as I could hear loose pieces of glass inside the boxes. The glass tops for the various bow fronts on the market have specific fit issues ( typically the "bowed" portion of the tanks {based on other reviews}). I was somewhat skeptical that a 20 something watt led fixture could give me the light I needed for my plants in my 58 gallon aquarium traditionally a high tec planted tank with co2, ferts, and over 200 watts of hqi, pc, or florescent light (each with their own set of problems). It is considerably less bright than those 200+ watt solutions, but surprisingly the plants are thriving under it. I have cut back on ferts and growth is not insane as it once was it is good growth with healthy plants and so far no algea issues. It has been on the tank for 2 months. My tank has never looked better.

I purchased the fixture for a 40 gallon breeder planted community tank. Physically is has a slim low profile design that takes up little room above the tank. It seems to well built and I have had no trouble with it after more than a month of use. Seems plenty bright for my needs(maybe a bit too much light) . The only downside seems to be that if you nee to raise it up to reduce intensity there isn't any built in clips or attachment points for hanging it. So if you wish to hang it you'll have to take it apart and drill holes in the casing to mount eye bolts. Otherwise an excellent fixture for the price.

Lots of light for such a slim light. Cord is longer than before. Easy to assemble and comes with set screws to secure positively to tank. Went from a dual T5HO to this and much more light. Plants still adjusting to new light levels and color. Update changed tanks and started new with this light. Plants grow really fast when coupled with CO2 injection.

I was a little hesistant on ordering this due to how new LED technology is and I couldn't find a lot of information on if it would be good for plants or not. I am pleased to say that this unit far exceeded my expectations. It produces a pleasant light and does not generate a lot of heat. You can feel a slight warmth on the Heatsink that is intigrated into the back. Now on to the set up. This unit is much cheaper that the marineland units I was also interested in.

I have this unit on a 50 Gallon SeaClear. The legs no not quite make it all the way to the edges to clamp down but that is not a big deal. I have a variety of plants includin Java Fern, Several types of swords from Kleiner bar swords to Ozelot Swords and Micro swords. I also have some Dwarf sag and Angustifolia. All these plants have explodes so far. The Angustfolia is really out of control and the Java Fern is throwing out tons of roots from the leaves for additional plants. The only supplementation I have been using is Flourish Excel and even then I have dialed back on this due to the rapid growth.

I am only running this light about 8 hours dialed back from an additional 12. I do run a marineland Hidden Blue LED about an additional 4 hours but that is just for looks really. I am also using Carribsea Eco Complete planted substrate mixed with some of the tahitian moon.

To sumarize this unit is well worth the money and has exceeded my expectations. If i had to improve on it I wouldn't mind having a Night mode for the unit with the addition of a few more LED's. I would also want seperate cord/power supplies to that you could utilize these LED's seperate from the normal daylight ones.

API Liquid Fungus Cure, 4-Ounce

Killed the living fungus quite well but once I started phasing out it slowly started growing back... not sure if this can't kill the spores or if something else is responsible so I won't dock stars from it but you decide if you want it. I will say once it went in the water the fish recovered quickly! Also a downside, it is bright green and the directions for removing the green involve activated carbon filters which many new aquariums don't use so removing the green is a difficult and lengthy process.

Seachem Neutral Regulator 250gram

As far as keeping the pH in your aquarium at 7.0 this product works great if used according to the directions. It claims to remove chlorine, chloramine and ammonia with some kind of "conditioning agents" and this may very well be true but if you rely on chemical means to remove ammonia as opposed to doing water changes you are minimally asking for stressed fishes if not sick or dead eventually. In any case, the downfall to this product is that it is made up of phosphate salts, which as you add this product to your tank it causes the phosphates (PO4) to build in concentration. High levels of PO4 in your aquarium is not what you want because it can and will cause algae blooms beyond your control. Ideally, PO4 levels in your tank should be zero to very low levels that can't be detected with colorimetric test kits. If you have algae problems in your tank I highly recommend investing in a PO4 test kit. You must do a water change to get rid of phosphates, don't rely on any product to remove PO4 unless you have a reef tank (salt water) and need to remove low levels!

As far as keeping your pH at neutral you would also make life much easier by investing in a pH pen (i.e. Waterproof pH Tester; ~$40-$100) and the calibration solutions for it. Use liquid pH down (API brand) and you can use store bought baking soda (Sodium Bicarbonate; NaHCO3; Arm and Hammer brand fine...cheap too!) to bring your pH up; however, you may still want some liquid pH up too. The NaHCO3 will increase your pH and carbonate hardness (Alkalinity) helping to stabilize your pH as the phosphate buffers do in Seachem's Neutral Regulator WITHOUT the PO4! Turn your pH pen on and take the pH of your tank while you add pH up or down until you increase or decrease the pH by no more than 0.2 pH units. In other words, if your pH is 6.4 and you want to be at 6.9 increase it from 6.4 to 6.6 the first day. Then the next day go from 6.6 to 6.8 etc. My experience is that in the above example you'll find that the pH of 6.6 you set the day before will drop by the following day so just work your way up incrementally. This is because the organisms in your aquarium utilize the carbonate. Also get yourself a hardness test kit too (API brand) that gives you general and carbonate hardness and follow directions for adjusting to levels suitable for your fishes. Incidentally, Drs. Axelrod's and Burgess's fresh and marine atlases, respectively, provide this information for numerous fishes. I know this sounds complicated but the reality is this is the proper way to maintain a fish tank. It's a hobby and should be fun to do! Dedicate some time to caring for the water quality and you'll have much healthier, vibrant and happy fishes!

I purchased this product for my 20 gallon freshwater aquarium. My aquarium had been neglected for some time, and the nitrate levels were over 200ppm, GH over 400, and a KH that would hardly ready anything on the test strip. I added an incorrect buffer (too much baking soda) and shot my pH from 6.6 to 8.4, KH went to 300ppm. I need to get these numbers under control.

I did several water changes and my GH would only show a slight drop and my KH was not moving. My nitrate levels did decrease with better maintenance of the aquarium.

Over the course of 5 days I added 7 teaspoons of Seachem Neutral Regulator. The first day the water turned cloudy and this continued for 2 days. On the 3rd day, I added some AP Crystal Clear water clarifier, which caused the parcipitated calcium and magnesium to clump up and be captured by my HOB filter (AquaClear 50 with pre-filter sponge, biomax, matrix, and foam insert). Each day the pH started to decrease.

12-12-11

pH: 8.4.

Ammonia: 0ppm.

Nitrate: 60ppm.

Nitrite: 0ppm.

GH: 425ppm.

KH: 260ppm.

After adding Seachem Neutral Regulator from 12-16-11 to 12-21-11 (7 teaspoons total and no water changes):

pH: 7.6.

Ammonia: 0ppm.

Nitrate: 0ppm.

Nitrite: 0ppm.

GH: 120ppm.

KH: 120ppm.

Seachem Neutral Regulator softens water, neutralizes ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite.

The product does what it says it will do. Although I am currently only at a pH of 7.6, this product is trying to overcome a carbonate based buffer that wants to keep my pH at a high level (8.4). Seachem Neutral Regulator is a phosphate based buffer and had clearly done its job by reducing the pH, GH, and KH.

I would buy this product again and recommend it to others. Please keep in mind that a phosphate based buffer can cause algae growth if planted aquariums. My aquarium is planted, but with plants that do well in low light. Higher light levels can lead to unwanted algae growth (as indicated by the manufacturer).

I'm essentially going to copy my review for Acid Regulator in this space, because in my experience, the two products are linked I use them together.

Maybe I shouldn't be surprised as to how effective, after all Seachem is a company worth its salt, but I haven't had success with all of their products (Acid Buffer, PH Alert) but I have adored Prime, Flourish and now the "Regulator" series.

Anyway, when used in conjunction with Acid Regulator, the efficacy is amazing. In buffered water the results are extremely predictable. I keep Clown Loaches, Neon Tetras, Albino BN Plecs, and Cories, so soft, slightly acidic water is needed. Finally, a product that helps me get there, and stay there.

I brought the pH down from an enormous 8.0 to 6.8 over the course of 6 weeks (so as to not shock the fish). I have let it lie for 1 week since and the pH is stable. I had to do a little improvising... since my initial pH was so high, and my tap water so unbuffered, I needed more than the recommended dose. I had to add a small amount almost every day after the initial dose, and monitor the results closely with a pH liquid test. (For this I chose API's tests the pH tests are accurate). I would take 4 test tubes, and keep up to 4 previous measurements over the days, so I could see the subtle changes in pH. Trust me, you almost have to do this to tell the difference between, for example, 7.6 and 7.4 on the low pH scale.

Anyway, ever since achieving the target pH of 6.8, I don't need to add Regulator all the time anymore, just when doing a water change. I did one today, added the 1:1 dose of Neutral Reg to Acid Reg and guess what? My pH stayed exactly at 6.8. Awesome.

Ever since getting the pH to where it needed to be, my fish have thrived. They are active, lively, eating well, and growing.

Neutral Regulator works, and it WILL bring your pH to 7, and it WILL buffer your water, even if it softens it, and keep your pH stable.

I dock a star because it's expensive, and because it wasn't particularly intuitive how to use it for proper results. But it wasn't rocket science either, just basic science. :)

Penn Plax Vertex Shrimp Tank, 2.7-Gallon

Just received and set up this small aquarium for my betta, in fact, just in the knick of time as my plastic 1.5 gallon tank started to leak. Comes with almost all things you will need to make a betta a very happy home, filter, small net and even a stick-on thermometer. When I say almost, it did not come with a light and that is the reason I did not give it 5 stars. I had to purchase a separate LED light because I keep live plants in my tank. All in all a very attractive glass tank. The lid to me is fine because it is made of a plexiglass or light weight plastic which makes it light to open compared to a solid glass lid and if it needs to be cleaned it is very easily removed. The only other small detail that is missing is a feeding hole. You need to lift the lid to feed and it doesn't stay up because it hits the front of the filter, but again since it is plexiglass you can drill a hole in it to make your own feeding hole or you can feed through the space behind the lid. It has curved front corners which you usually do not find in small tanks. I believe this one is listed as 2.7 gallon which again I find as a nice size for a betta, if you do not have the space to have a bigger tank. My betta was happy in the 1.5 gallon, but since I was adding driftwood along with my live plants, and of course my small 7.5 heater, I decided I would get a little bigger size glass tank and this one fit my needs with a reasonable price. I would recommend this tank.

Bought this tank for my betta after realising that his 0.9 gal tank was much too small. It's large enough for him to have room to spread out and swim around in now, but not so large that it can't sit on my night table and is difficult to move.

The lid is a bit flimsy, but the glass tank is very nice and sturdy, with rounded front corners and square back ones. The filter is quiet, although I haven't been able to find somewhere that sells replacement filters. Although, I haven't searched too hard. The tank holds the filter, a heater, a thermometer, two plants, a large rock, and a 8-inch castle figurine all very nicely without seeming crowded.

Sadly, he hasn't been able to spend much time in it due to coming down with a fungal and bacterial infection (not due to the tank), but I'm excited to have him get better and to be able to return to his new home.

The filter is a bit strong for a betta but my main problem is that they do not sell filter refills on Amazon or the Penn Plax website and these are not carried by Petsmart, Petco, or Walmart. Hagen Marina 10-Inch Fine Nylon Net with 14-Inch Handle, Blue

The net opening is aprox. 10 X 6.25 inches. Looking at the diagonal it is just about a foot. It has a relatively strong handle it could be a bit beefier because the netting is a very fine mesh . I am working with pond fish so I could use the mesh about half as fine but in the average aquarium, it should be good. Overall, this is a very good net for aquarium use, at a great price.

It's a good net, although a bit flimsy due to the size and the fact that it pushes a lot of water, being a ten inch net with a 14 inch handle.

Excellent net and the best I've had for cleaning/skimming my hot tub. I've had several other nets over the years but the net mesh was always too large for small particles. This net allows you to get just about everything, but because the mesh is so small you have to skim it through the water at a much slower speed, but it also catches more. Overall I'd give this 5 star rating for a net to clean/skim a hot tub!

Used as directed, it has taken on the murky water of my 90 gallon tank (two 13" Oscars, and a couple of plecostomus bums (15" and 12") who apparently hate algae--but I digress). The color is great (just as pictured), but some of the leafy parts started breaking off when taken out of the box...

This wasn't too much of a problem since there were plenty of leafy parts left.

Also the grass looks really weird with the white base out of the box, but it looks a lot better in the tank when covered with sand/gravel and the grass is sticking out.

The excess glue was easy enough to remove.

Just be careful when handling this product, b/c the glue comes apart pretty easily.

We'll see how long this lasts.

Fluval G-Nodes Biological Filtration Media - 1.25L

i bought the fluval g6 filter and i knew that when it comes its never pack full of biomedia stuff, so i bought this to fill up my trays inside to the top, i like it cause the media seems like it has more crevices for the good bacteria to grow

I like it better then the bio balls. Very pours material. Works like expected. And what I have read online it never needs changing even tho the manufacture says to change part of it every six months or so. Just a way to have you buy more.

Eshopps Clear Acrylic Frag Plugs 24 pk.

I definitely like the acrylic look over the ceramic ones also these are the only ones that fit the eshopps frag rack.

My customers like the acrylic better too because its easier to dislodge the frag and is more aesthetically pleasing

These Frag rack are half way decent the rack itself is pretty nice however, it is the thinnest most fragile acrylic I have seen before. I am pretty sure it is about an 8th of an inch thick. This shouldn't be a problem; however, there are other reasons why I would consider this thing cheap junk! One is that they encase the magnets in a thin layer of acrylic that easily cracks and breaks, if you let the magnets go without ensuring that you hold back the force of the magnetic pull. EShopps knows that this is a problem as they leave a piece of paper in the box saying that they will not warranty these cheap plastic/acrylic magnets if you break them. Well first of all, why in the world would they encase these magnets in acrylic so thin that they can break so easily!!! They could have simply included some rubber caps for the magnets so that they don't break so easy like for instance the Hydor powerheads do with their magnets. An yes, I opened up the box started unpacking it and the magnets accidently forced each other together and cracked one of the magnets right off the bat, and I was actually holding the magnet and this still happened, so point being the magnets are the worst part of this rack. The second reason why I will never buy one of these again is that normal plug sizes except for a select few, mostly the half inch plugs, i.e. the small diameter top plate (circle) and the "The Frag Station" which do fit with the 1" tops. So your are very limited on what plugs fiit in the holes! So yes, I have tons of plugs that don't fit! Third is they make you coming back to them for their clear plastic plugs or you have to use half inch plugs or the The Frag Station plus otherwise the holes are too small. ATTENION everybody, if you go to YOUR LOCAL FISH/CORAL SHOPP AND BUY A FRAG, DON'T PLAN ON IT FITTING IN THIS RACK! ALSO, PLAN ON BUYING YOUR OWN MAGNETS FOR THIS FRAG RACK AS THE ONES IT COMES WITH WILL EVENTUALLY BRAKE DUE TO THE MAGNETS BEING ENCASED IN 1/16TH INCH ACRYLIC! GO BUY YOUR SELF A PIECE OF EGGCRATE OR PLAN ON USING THEIR PLUGS OR HALF INCH DIAMETER PLUGS AND BUYING REPLACEMENT MAGNETS!

Finnex 200-Watt Hang-On Electronic Controller Aquarium Heater, Titanium Tube, 60 to 80-Gallon

This aquarium heater has been in place and working for several months. I have been very happy with its performance to date. It gives me confidence in lowering my houses heat seating during the day while at work in the winter months. It would be nice if it had some feed back on the actual water temp, a digital read out or something. It currently has two lights, a green one to indicate it is working, and a red one that indicates when the heat element is actually on. I like this type heater especially though for its greater resistance to breaking as opposed to the glass tube models.

I bought and tried some cheap heaters with good reviews and everyone was junk, almost lost my fish a couple of times, this heater is awesome, unbreakable, and is within 2 degrees plus or minus, it does tank some time to heat a 55 gallon tank but once set, it is set it and forget it, day or night its dead on, no more worries or getting up all night to check temps, dont buy the cheap junk, put out the few extra dollars for this unit and be done with it, thank you for a great product.

I am a beginner reef aquarist and have found this light to work great so far. I am noticing good growth of coralline algae on my rocks, my soft corals and lps seem to be doing very well, have not ventured into sps yet. Like that the 10k, actinic and night LEDs can all be set separate. (50g 36" tank)

I love these lights they are energy efficient and very quiet. Some reviewers said that the fans are loud, I disagree they are whisper quiet. I was also concerned about electric bill but after running for a month, I barely noticed a spike in usual electric usage. I highly recommend these lights. My corals seem very happy and the 3 lighting choices are great for a realistic sun up sun down effect. I do wish that they had a dimmer or would slowly turn on instead of switched on max brightness.
