Power Filter

Aqueon 06080 QuietFlow 10 Power Filter, 100GPHI inherited one of these filters used from a friend, and I have been using it nonstop ever since. I run some more expensive filters on my other tanks, such as the Fluval 306 canister filter, Marineland Penguin series, Tetra Whisper and Penn-Plax Cascade. I can honestly say that this Aqueon filter is one of the best filters I have, and if I ever have to replace one of my other HOB filters, there is a good chance I would get one of the Aqueon filters to do so.

Let us first make clear that any HOB filter will require a minor investment in filter cartridges. I have run this particular filter on a tank with gouramis, and currently on a tank with neon tetras and albino corys. How do I make my cartridges last so long? Well, I have one of these attached to the intake: Pre-Filter Sponge 3 Pack for Fluval Edge Aquarium This prevents too much debris from being sucked into the filter while increasing the biological filtration, the most important stage in filtration, as any good aquariust knows. These Fluval sponges fit perfectly and in no way inhibit the flow. They have saved me a lot of money on cartridges, and when they get dirty, I just rinse them in some aquarium water and put them back on. My flower shrimp also love to eat particles of food from the sponge!

As for being quiet, mine runs silently. I never hear this filter running. If you get one that makes a lot of noise, please see about getting a replacement as I have never had this problem, and as I said, this is a pre-owned filter.

As for being reliable, because of its design, this filter starts right up after a power outage or water change. No priming for this filter! This is the main reason that I would replace one of my other HOB filters with one of these. The Marineland filters require priming, the Tetra Whisper filters are meant to be self-priming, but can be somewhat unreliable. My Aqueon filter has always started up again after being turned off. This is great peace of mind, especially when I am away from home for a few days.

As for being effective, this filter holds its own against its competitors. True, it is not an Aquaclear, but it is just as good as any filter using a standard carbon cartridge. Its bio-filtration may not be the best, but this only becomes an issue when you have to replace the cartridge, and if you are using a sponge pre-filter as I recommend above, you should not have a problem with your tank cycling after a cartridge change.

Now, let me make a few points:

1. This particular filter should NOT be used for goldfish. This model is designed for ten gallons or less, and a ten gallon tank is not appropriate for a goldfish. Besides, goldies create so much waste that they require at least TWICE the recommended filtration. For example, on my 75 gallon goldfish tank, I run a canister recommended for 70 gallons, a HOB recommended for 70 gallons, and 2 Hydro Sponge filters recommended for 40 gallons each. Over-filtration? Maybe, but goldies don't mind the current, and it keeps my water clean. In addition, even the smallest goldfish will grow too large for a ten gallon tank, and if the fish itself doesn't grow, its organs will, and it will eventually die a painful death. I did once put a small common goldfish into a ten gallon hospital tank temporarily, but I did so with plenty of filtration. This Aqueon QuietFlow 10 is not enough for any kind of goldfish in any tank whatsoever.

2. This filter should NOT, in my opinion, be used for any Betta. It doesn't create a super-strong current, but it is still too strong for a fish who prefers still water. I have found that a Hydro Sponge filter powered by an air pump is all you need to filter a tank for one Betta. I have a male crowntail Betta in a ten gallon tank, and I do just this. I also have a female Betta in a five gallon tank, and I use a Whisper internal filter set on its lowest setting, and this seems to work as well. The Aqueon filter is NOT appropriate for a Betta.

3. If you overload your tank, you need more filtration, and you will have to change your cartridge more. Research and learn what kind and how many fish can go into a ten gallon tank, and don't exceed this amount. It's a bad idea for everyone involved, especially the fish.

In conclusion, this filter is economical, silent, reliable, and well-designed. It suffers only from a somewhat inferior system for bio-filtration which can easily be remedied by the addition of an inexpensive sponge pre-filter. This would be a great filter for beginners because of its simple design, and also a great choice for those of us with more experience who are on a budget or for whom it is impractical to run a canister filter.

I have two of these filters one installed on a 10 gallon and the other on a 20 gallon tank.

These work great with little maintenance needed on my part. Just clean the end of the pickup tube from time to time and change the filter cartridge when needed and you are all set. Changing the cartridges is very easy and not messy. Cleaning the pickup tube does require pulling the end off, rinsing it out and reinstalling. I have yet to have to remove the filter completely from the tank (after more than a year of use).

The cartridges last a reasonable amount of time as I am getting between 4 and 5 weeks of use out of them before they need replacing.

Overall, no complaints here works just like the Aqueon says it does!

I got mine in a plant tank kit. The filter seems to do a great job. My water is crystal clear, and I've had mine running for 10+ months. I've had many generations of guppies. Also my tank was incredibly overpopulated and still, the filter did a fenomenal job. I love it. When I added the substrate, ActivFlora it took care of the silt/cloudiness in the water. The combination of healthy water and good filtration makes an entirely healthy system. I hardly do water changes or maintenance aside from changing the filter cartridge.

I have this filter on a 30 gal tank and will get another for my 10. It keeps the water very clear.

Want Power Filter Discount?

This filter came as part of a kit along with a 36g bow front tank. My 36g is not heavily stocked. It has 1 modest-sized pleco (~6"), 1 adult angel and 3 juvenile angels. This filter is easy to assemble, easy to maintain and runs very quiet. It filters the water very well and the "Bio-holster" that holds the filter media seems to hold sufficient bacterial growth on its own to mitigate the loss of any bacteria from changing the filter media.

The big problem I have with this product is that it takes almost no time before the filter media fills up enough to where the water starts running over the bypass divider and the skipping filter media entirely, at which point too much sediment gets by. Even with the modest bio-load my tank has, It will start bypassing as soon as only three or four days after changing the cartridge. In fact, when a brand new cartridge is put in, the water coming from the pump is right at the edge of overflowing the bypass, so you can imagine that it doesn't take much flow degradation through the media to cause the bypassing to start. It would be nice if the pump had a way to slow the speed and reduce flow, but there is no such adjustment for this product.

So, I gave it three stars because, yes, it filters quite well and runs quietly, but unless you plan on using this on a smaller tank (perhaps a 10g?), don't bother or you'll be spending a fortune on filter cartridges.

Coralife 05741 3X Turbo Twist UV Replacement Lamp, 9-Watt

Coralife 05741 3X Turbo Twist UV Replacement Lamp, 9-WattThese bulbs do what they are supposed to. When they are on and there is adequate water flow through your UV sterilizer, you should be free from algae and bacteria which discolor your water. I use it on a 55 gallon FOWLR tank and it always does its job. The only problem is the short life span. It doesn't get nearly the 10,000 hours which it claims to. I would say I have averaged about 4-5 months per bulb over the past 4 years of using this UV sterilizer. This can start to get somewhat expensive and time consuming to always replace the bulb. Also, unless you check the bulb regularly, it may burn out and you and you won't realize it until there is a problem.

Overall: works well but doesn't last long enough

Within few days the lamp worked and our pond is clear. I love being able to see my fish swim around...

I'm not super happy with the life of these bulbs. That said, they do the job, and the Turbo Twist units are great.

If you're thinking about running UV continuously for the sake of general water purity, consider that it's not necessarily to do so with most aquaria. We ran continuous UV for awhile but found that replacing our carbon with Seachem Purigen worked as good or better at removing organic impurities in our water. Purigen polishes the water amazingly well, even where some algae is present. Plus, it's renewable and lasts 5-10x longer than carbon. Now we only use UV if one of our pets is ill (rarely), which keeps us from buying UV lamps every few months. It's sooo much less expensive this way.

Was so disappointed when it showed up broken; but received a brand new one in the mail quickly and in perfect condition. So impressed and pleased.

This lamp is a true replacement product for the Turbo Twist UV sterilizer. Easy enough to install. My only complaints about these bulbs is that if run continuously (as they should be), they only last around 6months. If you are currently using this product, be sure to purchase a spare and keep an eye on the bulb as it will need frequent changes. Good luck!

Como 2 Pcs Fish Tank Green Plastic End 4" Blue Air Stone Bar

Como 2 Pcs Fish Tank Green Plastic End 4' Blue Air Stone BarI ordered 2 of these air stones, and they arrived in a few weeks, directly from China. They worked well when the air volume is great, and the size of the bubbles is insignificant, such as when circulation and aerating water in a 5 gallon bucket. In the tank, however, where lover volumes of air might be used, the size of the bubbles nearest the inlet are "larger than most air stones" and few bubbles emit from the end length of the stone. To make bubbles come out of the full length of the stone, air volume must be increased significantly. If you are looking for medium to fine size bubbles that come out evenly over the whole length of the stone, this not the one for you. This item only allows for large bubbles and uneven bubble distribution, and cannot produce small bubbles. Both of the 2 stones functioned identically and might not be the best choice for bubble aesthetics in the aquarium.

This is prect for that small or med fish tank its not in the way like the bigger ones are this just the right size for a 25 gallon fish tank thank you

TOM Mini Air Pump - 5gal to 10gal tank

TOM Mini Air Pump - 5gal to 10gal tankwith a bubble wand and it works great. The clear plastic covers on the bottoms legs are a nice addition. I think it does help in absorbing some of the noise, but for me it's still not quiet enough, and that's only because this tank is in my bedroom. At night, when it's quiet, it can be annoying, but during the day, I barely notice the sound.

UPDATE: 1/21/13

I changed my rating from 4 to 5, because it turns out that the noise was due to the fact that the airtube was too long. After shortening it so that it was just long enough, the air pump has been virtually silent. I am planning on getting another one for my other tank.

Aquarium Divider System in Black

Lee's AQ2 Aquarium Divider System for 15/20L-Gallon TanksI purchased two of these. I have one 55 gallon aquarium, where two 'Jack Dempsey' cichlids decided to spawn. This device keeps the rest of the fish safe when the JDs are trying to chase them out of the tank. Peace is restored there.

I also have a 29 gallon Eclipse tank where I 'try' to raise any fry/feeders. I had a lot of 'Convict cichlid' young ones there and needed to make some safe space for the little J Dempseys. This worked well.

These things seem a bit flimsy, once you have them installed they hold their place well. If you want to use the metal clips, be advised that your normal top fixtures will not fit well over the clips

This is not an 'invisible' divider, I will try to post some pictures at my web site and provide a link here. My choice was, let fish kill each other, or have some peace (with a little ugliness). I chose peace.

Enjoy

ken

I bought some adorable puffer fish for my aquarium, but the little devils enjoy attacking other fish, so I had to either isolate them, or find them a new home. I saw this item and figured I'd give it a try. Easy to assemble and set up, but absolutely ugly in the aquarium. The side guards are an ugly black and really take away from the natural look of the aquarium. A solid piece of plexiglass with holes would have been preferable, but as a cheap quick fix, this works all right. Now the gourami and pleco can sleep soundly at night knowing their butts aren't being chewed on.

I bought these for my hamsters cages because they had begun fighting. I took FOREVER to ship. But it is a good separator. I was very pleased.

Read Best Reviews of Aquarium Divider System in Black Here

I wanted to set this up in a 55 gallon planted tank to keep two strains of guppies apart. After 30 minutes of messing around with this, I decided to just let them mix.

Where to begin? There are a series of annoying things about this divider. It reminds me of the book reviewer who wrote "this is not a book to be taken lightly. It should be thrown with great force." That's how I feel about this divider.

Let's start with how the perforated barrier sheet slides into the plastic edges that touch the walls of the tank. The barrier sheet slides in like a report cover (and bends like one, too), and the plastic edges are so much like the report cover binding clips that I wonder if they aren't actually report cover binding clips.

The problem is that with even a little tug, the barrier slides out of the clip. I got this divider ALMOST set up three times and then moved the plastic edges just a bit so they were flush with the side of the tank walls (this takes forever... why can't the connection points be suction?) only to barely touch the barrier with one finger, and it slid out of the plastic clips. And then you can not get the barrier back in the clip you have to take all three parts out of the tank, slide each side of the barrier into the clips, and start again. If this product is ever remade, the barrier should STAY in the clips once you slide it in.

The other major issue with this is the clips that attach to the top of the tank. Getting them to stay put is hard, but doable, but getting them to stay put AND positioning the plastic edges that are supposed to be flush against the tank walls is nearly impossible. And if you move anything even a little bit too far, you've just slid the barrier out of the side clips, and you get to start all over.

I am going to try gluing (with silicon) the barrier into the side wall clips. If that could stay put, maybe I could use this divider.

Eheim Aquastyle Nano Aquarium 6 Gallon 24 Liter Complete Kit - Eheim AEH6402370

Eheim Aquastyle Nano Aquarium 6 Gallon 24 Liter Complete Kit - Eheim AEH6402370What a great aquarium. I searched everywhere and looked at so many my head was spinning. Finally decided on the Nano. Comes with everything you need to get started but the fish, plants and gravel.

Perfect choice. Small footprint, filter works very well and is EZ to clean. Light height and placement is adjustable (also comes off easily when cleaning the tank). And the bonus ... the fish look a little magnified on the corners due to the curved glass.

I have the 6 gal. If I had to do it again I would go for the 9 gal. Not very much larger (maybe 1" wider, higher), and would hold more fish & plants.

Filters and media tough to find. Do a Google search. Wound up finding it at BBB online, not in store.

One negative: Comes with a glass top (yea). It rests on top BUT it comes with little plastic grippers that fall off fast, often, and get lost quick. I put tiny pieces of Velcro on each corner. Doesn't get near the fish (safe), works like a charm and not very visible.

If space is limited, you are OK with 5-6 fish and you want a standout aquarium this is a winner.

My tank looks gorgeous; most fun I've had in a long time. All fish & plants from Fishtown, Ramsey, NJ:

Got these b/c they add activity and don't count toward your fish count:

4 red shrimp (they are real characters with 10 pair of legs they swim wildly to the top, dangle from the plants and eat some of the food that falls to the bottom)

2 snails (keeps glass clean, take care to get snails not pre-disposed to multiply alot)

1 sucker (for algae, not a catfish, has a stripe on his back, don't remember the name, )

Fish:

(7 vs. 6 recommended for tank. 1extra b/c most are small and I'll likely lose 1)

2 honey gourami's (1.5" long but nice and wide so they stand out, grow to 2"+/-pretty yellow and orange)

2 fancy endlers (3/4", grow to about 1" max., elaborate tails)

1 blue endler (v. small, grows to 1", blue is hard to find)

1 unknown endler (v. small)

1 small black molly (small, grows to about 1")

Plants:

All live. Some float with long roots hanging down, 2 tall narrow swaying plants, 2 short wide leaf.

Other:

Natural gravel (small). A few small fun-shaped rocks I found in the garden (boil them first), and one big hollow black rock with holes for fish to swim in & out.

Watch out for rogue snails. I use a net to put fish in my tank, avoiding putting the store water in (don't want snail eggs again).

Have fun!!!

Petco Red Fire Silk Aquarium Plant

Petco Red Fire Silk Aquarium PlantThis Fire plant really stands out in the tank when the light is on. It also provides good shade and hiding areas for the less outgoing members of the tank. Great for a community tank. I have this one and many other silks in my 75 gallon. Thinking about getting some more!

I'm very pleased with the look of this plant. You can't really tell from the picture but on one side there is a cluster or purple leaves that add a great touch. The purple was a nice surprise and accents the red nicely. The plant is a nice size and has a nice weight to the base. Can't wait to add it to my tank.

Mardel Maracyn-Two Powder Packets Water Treament (Freshwater), 24ct

Mardel Maracyn-Two Powder Packets Water Treament, 24ctMaracyn 2 is a synthetic form of the tetracycline class of antibiotics and is more broad spectrum than others. This is a very effective antibiotic which can be combined with Maracyn or used by itself. It is one of the best antibiotics that can be purchased for fish disease. It is also very safe so overdosing shouldn't cause any issues. One thing to note is that this product like all tetracycline type antibiotics become dangerous after they have expired. Once the expiration date passes it must be disposed of.

This medication is especially effective for septicemia and fin/tail rot. It can also be used to treat popeye and dropsy. Another benefit of this antibiotic is that it acts as an anti-inflammatory, helping to reduce redness and swelling.

Make sure you remove any carbon/chemical media from your aquarium filter when using this. If you keep this media in, it will absorb the medication and potentially cause antibiotic resistance. Also make sure you treat for the stated time. Like any antibiotic, not following the proper dosage and timings can make it ineffective and again lead to resistance as only some bacteria are destroyed while the others that survive mutate and proliferate.

Also just a tip, add some Aquarium Salt to the aquarium while treating for disease as this will help in healing, as well as help prevent advantageous parasites from complicating things further. Do not use regular table salt as it contains iodine! Aquarium salt is cheap, available on Amazon and it will last you forever.

*****

Update:

Just thought I would add some more info to this post as this is really the only available antibiotic for fish diseases on Amazon.

This antibiotic is effective in freshwater but not really in salt water aquarium's. Hard water will also reduce the effectiveness of this antibiotic as it is absorbed by dissolved calcium in the water.

Although this antibiotic can be used to treat dropsy, it can be especially taxing on the kidney's. Because dropsy is caused by the kidneys failing to remove water/fluids from the inside of the fish, it can make things much worse. Kanamycin is the best for this disease.

I have had pretty good success with mixing this antibiotic with fish food rather than treating the aquarium water. If you have a large aquarium, or don't have access to another tank, this method may be more economical and even more effective.

To treat this way you have to 1st be sure your sick fish are still eating!

-Take a small cup and throw in some pelleted fish food. Add some hot water, just a bit more than what would be necessary to cover all the food, then mix in half a packet of the Maracyn-2.

-Leave it for 1-2 hours to allow the food to soak up the solution. You should also swirl the contents a few times.

-Dispose of the leftover solution and place the treated pellets in the aquarium. Make sure your fish are eating them!

-If you choose to go this route, you should feed the fish these medicated pellets daily, and continue to do so a few days after the disease appears to have been cured.

You may want to try soaking the pelleted fish food you have in some tap water 1st to make sure they wont just completely dissolve in the water.

"New Life Spectrum THERA A" is a fish food available on Amazon which by itself, help's with fish diseases. I have found that these pellets do not breakup and are able to absorb quite a bit of the solution. It is available in numerous pellet sizes. Be sure to get the Thera A version.

If anyone has questions about this or treating fish diseases, leave a comment. I have had to learn quite a bit about fish diseases over the years as I attempted to extend the life of a fish that had Tuberculosis.

Maracyn-Two works very well. It actually cured dropsy in one of my fancy goldfish about 2 years ago. You should keep it on hand ready to use, because you have to act fast (if it is dropsy). It also works well on fin rot and I have used it 3 or 4 times for that. You don't have to be in a big hurry if it is fin rot.

I don't use a hospital tank. I treat the whole 30 gallon tank with this stuff. It does not seem to hurt the beneficial bacteria that get rid of ammonia. It also does not bother the other fish in the tank that are not sick. Doesn't faze them a bit, although you would think so, since it does make the water look a little yellow and cloudy. I can't think of a worse thing to do to a sick fish than to take it out of its home and into a hospital tank. Besides, it takes a month to get a new tank up and running (cycled). Just treat the whole home tank. Will take a lot of packets of this stuff, so the little 8 packet box won't do much good. Get the 24 packets. Don't be afraid to use this stuff. It won't hurt anything.

The directions are pretty good. Read them all, not just on the box, but inside. The diagnostic chart inside is very good. The only thing I thought was vague in the instructions was what to do if you want to do 2 5-day treatments back to back. I think the best advise is to stop after the first 5-day treatment and do the water change and put carbon in, for 3 days. Then after that 3-day "rest" period do the second 5-day treatment. But you probably won't need it. If you do, another approach would be to try a different med, like Maracyn Plus maybe. These Mardel meds are the real deal.

Note this Maracyn-Two is for freshwater. I think there is a separate product for salt water.

By the way, I would not use potted plants in the aquarium. The little bit of dirt on the root ball will have lots of foreign bacteria that your fish have never encountered before. Dropsy bacteria are in dirt. My fish that had dropsy, it started 4 days after I put a potted plant in the aquarium.

Buy Mardel Maracyn-Two Powder Packets Water Treament (Freshwater), 24ct Now

I am extremely impressed with this product. Now, I'm not master fish keeper, but I noticed right away when my little red betta wasn't being himself. He would float at the top of his tank almost looking dead, and he was developing cottony white patches on his little bum and tail fin. I did some research and found he had a fungal infection. This product was recommended at my local fish store, so I gave it a try.

He lives in a very small tank so I only put a tiny pinch in his water after doing a full water change. The next day, his white patches are almost COMPLETELY gone, and he's swimming around like he used to, eating enthusiastically, and has the life put right back in him.

This stuff is a life-saver! I'm impressed with how quickly it worked, and relieved I don't have to worry about my little guy any more.

Marineland filtration PR2002 Bio-Wheel Pro Assembly for Eclipse 3 and Magnum 350 ProGreat product but gets smushed easily if packed with other items when shipping. Also the filter slips off the nubs that hold the accordion folds in place if the end caps are not firmly pressed down.

The BIO wheel was fine now that I finally recieved it. The company that it came from, UNITED PET GROUP has horrible customer service. I have a 100 Gallon tank and no one locally in my town sells these, so I needed it quickly. They sent it to an old address.

Anyway, glad BIOWHEEL

Marine Service Kit

Marine Service KitI've had aquariums since I was in grade school, and the biOrb aquariums are hands-down the best and easiest to take care of I've ever had. The service kits make maintenance super easy. I'd never had a marine aquarium before and heard that they were very difficult, but I've not had any problems with my biOrb. The marine service kit makes keeping the aquarium up a breeze! I have the biOrb Life 60 Aquarium, 16 Gallons, Chill Red.

I have been around fish tanks my whole life and the biorb system and products are amazing. This marine service kit only takes me 20 minutes per month to maintain a beautiful SALT water aquarium.

Hydor H2Show Atlantis - Left Poseidon Decoration 13.8"x7"x3.5"

Hydor H2Show Atlantis - Left Poseidon Decoration 13.8'x7'x3.5'So I do have to say that from the front this is a very nice piece. But be warned that the back is hallow and looks less than appealing. If your tanks is flush against the wall and this piece is all the way to the back then it will look great, any other variation and you may not be as pleased.

nice product, have it in a 12 gal Fuvel Edge Aquar. --very detailed, makes a nice backdrop for a Atlantis theme, with this style Aquar. it almost didn't fit through the top hole, but it made it.

Goes good with the temple ruins too.

Coralife 77072 12X Turbo Twist UV Sterilizer

Coralife 77072 12X Turbo Twist UV SterilizerThis product saved me from selling my tank. I was dealing with cloudy water in my predator tank 220gal. I was so upset that I was going to sell the team but my lfs told me to use a uv light and this one cleared up my tank in less than a week and is still clear after running itfor about a month. I used push connect fittings from Lowes and is very easy to install.

I am very pleased with this sterilizer. I am using it on my 150 gallon FOWLR system with a moderate bio-load of fish. They all had a mild case if ICH, and since putting this sterilizer in place the ICH has improved. I didn't expect it to cure the ICH, but i think it improved the water quality enough that they were able to keep it in check. Installation was fairly easy and I have had no problems in the couple weeks it has been running.

Aquatic Creations Static Cling Aquarium Background, 24 by 12-Inch, Tropical

Aquatic Creations Static Cling Aquarium Background, 24 by 12-Inch, TropicalPros: The backing is marked off in 1 inch grid lines, making trimming to fit easier. As stated in the prod description, the vinyl attaches to the glass of the aquarium with static electricity. The image is well defined. At night the background looks good.

Con: The image is printed (screened?) on a transparent vinyl. During the day or back lit the light shines through and the image is faded. Overall it's not bad, you can still see the image. It's just faded a bit.

Installation Note: I recommend removing all obstructions from the rear of the tank. To get the static vinyl to hold you will need to get a fair portion in contact with the tank. It worked best for me to temporarily tape 1/8" of the backing to a top corner then I worked across to the opposite top corner and then pushed the air pockets out of the bottom. Once I had the entire backing in contact and being held I removed the tape and made adjustments as needed.

Pondmaster 02920 20-Watt Ultra-Violet-Light Pond Water Clarifier

Pondmaster 02920 20-Watt Ultra-Violet-Light Pond Water ClarifierMy backyard pond has always given me trouble with severe algae. I would clean it out and the next day it was green again. I could never enjoy my fish, and many were even dying. A local pond builder recommended I try a UV light as a last resort. I did lots of research online looking for the best one, since I knew nothing about UV lights. All the reviews I read on the Pondmaster UV light were good, and it seemed like a well-built product. I liked the idea of being able to use it in or out of the water. The only question I couldn't find an answer to was how to actually set it up in my pond with my pump and waterfall. I finally found a website with some help, but I would have been more confident in buying if I had more information on installation. When I received the product I found it was very easy to assemble and install. After 4 days my pond went from deep green to pale gray, then each day it got more and more clear. After about one week my pond is clear and I am enjoying watching my fish again. I would strongly recommend this product to any pond owner. It was so easy to install, and has cut my pond maintenance down significantly. No more dumping algaecides and clarifiers in with my fish either.

I bought a 20W bulb for ~2000 gallon pond. It has been running a couple of weeks and the water is clearer, but not clear. Perhaps the bulb included was not up to par. My biggest beef is that the enclosed set up diagram was completely wrong. You will need to attach a 3/4" fitting on the light housing to the 1" inside diameter of the 1 1/4" hose from a typical pond pump. You will need two sets of 3/4" to 1" nalgene fittings and two-3/4" and two-1" hose clamps.

I bought the pondmaster 02920 as a new item. However, when

i received the shipment, it's a used one. I can clearly see

some minor scratches on the surface. The UV light has some

kind of plague at the connector end. Also, the packing was

loose.

I am really disappointed with this type of service from amazon.
