Aquatic Fundamentals 50/65 Upright Gallon Aquarium Stand

Aquatic Fundamentals 50/65 Upright Gallon Aquarium StandIt's holding a water filled 50gal tank with plants, three ornaments, 50lbs gravel, and filter. No wobble, and looks really beautiful. The assembly was fairly easy. The parts were labled, and the instruction sheet was easy enough for me to follow. I was dissapointed that there wasn't a shelf in the unit, or a back board, which I think would have enhanced the structural integrity. I am still pleased with the unit and would recommend it to anyone looking for a large tank stand.

I was very pleased with this tank stand. It is very high quality and subdued (allowing for the beauty of the tank).

I would buy another in a heartbeat.

A word of warning! It was not easy to assemble. For someone who has not put together furniture before, the directions were rather baffling. Once I sat down and slowly figured it out, it made perfect sensebut it did take a great deal of effort on my part. If you are not good at assembly, beware!

I am very happy with this purchase. The stand is very sturdy and was simple to put together. I recommend this for anyone needing a stand for this size tank.

This stand is holding my 50g freshwater tank with 40lbs of sand and decorations. It does its job and looks nice and clean. It shipped with a little scratch. If i noticed this scratch when i was building it i would have pointed the scratch inward for none to see. my 4 foot aquarium is longer than the stand but it is appealing. Overall i like it.

Como Aquarium Fish Tank Artificial Orange Long Plastic Plant Decoration 19.7"

Como Aquarium Fish Tank Artificial Orange Long Plastic Plant Decoration 19.7'I got this to put in my 100 gallon pond. I like it because it's large full. However, it arrived with part of the base broken off. It was only 2 little sprigs but it was broken nonetheless. The base is made of some sort of plaster and is more fragile than I prefer but whatever, it serves its purpose.

Ecoxotic EcoPico Desktop Fish Aquarium, 5 galllon

Ecoxotic EcoPico Desktop Fish Aquarium, 5 galllonI was looking for a 5 gallon tank for my Betta that was stuck in a .8 gallon and getting fin rot due to my lack of education. Once I learned they needed at least a 5 gallon and filtered tank my search was on. I looked everywhere for the perfect tank, one that would be stylish but also meet all my needs. I decided to spend the extra money and purchase the EcoPico and am so glad I did. It is such a simple design and system that it took no time to put together. Given the wattage the LEDs put out I decided to try my luck (first timer) with live plants because I had also read that artificial plants can tear your fishes fins. My plants are growing great, I have even had to prune one of them back twice because it is growing so well. I have had my tank for almost two months now and my water test great every time. The filter is so quiet if I didn't see plants moving I wouldn't even know it was on. My only concern had been the turbulence of the water from the filter on my Betta. Since he wasn't used to swimming much he was getting thrown around a bit. I called the company and they suggested I lower the filter in the water and that has helped completely. He is now doing great and loves his new home. My only complaint I have is there is no on/off switch for the LEDs, so you have to just plug and unplug to turn on and off. Two fixes for this are a plug in switch or a plug in timer, I prefer the switch because I like to have the tank lit late sometimes when I am in the room but for someone with a steady schedule the timer would be the best thing.

**Update: I have now had my Ecopico for over a year now and my plants still look great. I am not very good with fish so I have lost a few in the beginning but I am improving. However, I want to comment on Ecoxotic. They are a great company to work with. Twice now I have had problems with my led, once was my fault when I plugged my laptop charger into the transformer and fried the leds. I even told them what I did and they still sent me a replacement free of charge.

I love the look of the tank and I'm even getting another one soon. I ordered from ecoxotic though. Anyway, the light it comes with is bluish...i upgraded the lights but i still don't like the lighting, so I put my ecoxotic module on top of that . Looks a little ghetto. I love the design, but in all reality, so much for just a glass tank...pricey. I guess what you can do is get another arm light and up the LEDs on it. I also replaced the filter (filter sucks) with a fluval mini internal filter. I still love the tank, I just wish i could order it without the blue light and the filter.... :/.

I had been looking at aquariums for a while but couldn't decide which to get. A friend of mine gave me the EcoPico for a birthday present. BEST GIFT EVER! I set everything up, a nice cave, some gravel, 4 guppies and a pleco. About two months later, everything died. This may have been negligence on my part, after all I had no idea what I was doing, didn't realize I had to cycle my tank first, and I never looked inside the filter. Anyway, when cleaning up the casualties, I realized the filter was composed of a simple sponge! All mechanical. No chemical filtration was provided. I went out and bought some pantyhose, added some carbon, and some biomax...set everything up again (like 3 months later...I couldn't bare everything dying again so soon after)and the tank has been doing wonderfully since! The second time around, I still didn't know about cycling the tank but everything worked out anyway...I think I got lucky with my combination of plants and brackish water fish. Anyway, I give this tank 4 stars simply because a 5 star tank should provide everything you need for a healthy environment. Other than that though, this tank is amazing! Oh, and the filter may be small but it provides some very powerful pumping action! The lights bring out the colors of my fish (black gravel helps too) and I can never get enough of them! I can wake up and stare at the aquarium for hours without realizing. It's got a sleek design and looks very modern. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I have youtube videos as well...just look up the ecopico. Key words include knight goby and neon blue dwarf gourami.

I did not purchase this tank from Amazon, but from another private seller here in Chicago.

I wanted the cool looking small tank for one of my Betta males.

I already own 6.6 gallon Fluval Chi and wanted to keep the "theme" here.

The tank houses only 1 Betta male, few live plants and one Marimo Moss ball.

I LOVE the tank. There's nothing better looking than a glass aquarium.

The LED light is a great touch and a big help, if you want to have live plants. It does not produce any heat, so it's safe to leave it on for many hours.

The tank does come with a LID!

The only thing I had to fiddle with was the filter. It's a powerful little fella and it caused a bit of turmoil for my Betta guy. It took me few days of adjusting the media inside and to cover few intake holes to lower the current to minimum. The filter originally operates only with a sponge media inside, so I upgraded to one of those ACUREL pads they come in various types there's one with Carbon, then Ammonia reducer, Algae reducer, Nitrate control, etc. These pads are higher density, so they reduce the flow of the water inside the filter, plus Carbon adds the power to the filtration process.

I also wanted to keep the sleek look of the tank, so I put the black foil on the back side of the tank, so now the filter and my 50W heater are practically invisible behind the plants.

I uploaded some pictures of the tank and the filter.

The maintenance is extremely easy compared to my previous 95 gallon reef tank (or all my other tanks for that matter).

I have a bit of OCD, so I siphon out at least 25% of the water every 5-6 days, vacuum the poop from the gravel, wipe the water level marks, squeeze the Marimo moss ball, preen the plants and check the little cave for a slime build up (there's almost none). This all takes me only about 15 minutes since the tank is only 5 gallons. Then I put the pretreated fresh water in, check the water quality and that's it.

For the people, who don't want to spend even 15 minutes cleaning the tanks, here's my recommendation please do NOT buy ANY fish (+ tank). Fish are the living creatures and they DO NEED the continuous care.

I agree the cool nano tank or globe aquarium with few fishies looks great as a decoration, but so does the nice vase or a sculpture, that will be just fine without any maintenance.

To all reviewers saying the filter is good for nothing and that they had the problem with fish dying please note, that this is a 5 gallon NANO tank, so it's not really meant to house the whole schools of fish.

I don't know, what is wrong with all these people reviewing the tanks saying "The tank killed my fish. I did nothing wrong....it was the tank!"...and then you read they have at least 10-15 fish, frogs, etc inside.

The overstocked tank (even the well established one) will hold for a while, but it will eventually crash and develop some bacterial infection, or some other illness leading to the death of the inhabitants.

If you want to have gazillion fish, decorations and plants, please purchase 20 and up gallon tank instead.

These 3,4,5,6 gallon tanks are great, but there's a limited amount of fish you can put in there. Even the small fishies usually need the wider tanks, because of their swimming habits and mainly because they do the best in schools of 4 and more, so once again it will lead to overstocking the tank...

I also feel bad for all goldfish living in the small tanks, swimming frantically in never ending circles like these little insane creatures...

I used to have 95 gallon reef tank and needed to downsize after 8 years, so I aimed for a COOL & ELEGANT looking tank, that could be a part of my house décor. I did not really want the large "riverbed' of fish.

This tank is perfect for Betta (once you adjust the flow), also for those, who want to make these cool looking nano aquascapes and also for tiny reef nano with few shrimps.

The main point of my review is this Ecopico is a GREAT looking hip tank. I'm the second owner and so far there was no leak, no filter problems.

The only thing is, that I had to replace the LED strip after few months, but that's ok since I'm the second owner and the tank is few years old. LEDs are great and last for a long time, but not forever, especially if you like to have the light on the whole day.

I did not purchase the original replacement Ecopico LED strip though. I bought this flexible waterproof LED strip on ebay for $5 and hubby installed it to the original ecopico arm. It works just fine and it's even stronger, that the original one.

My advise to all beginners there is nothing wrong with most of the tanks. Please do not be discouraged by some reviews blaming the tanks for poisoning and such stuff. Unless the tank really has leaking issues or a history of a defective filtration, it should be just fine.

Also please do not expect the more expensive tanks to do the job by themselves you will still need to do your own adjustments and maintenance + RESEARCH. I can only suggest to do a really deep research to decide on what fish you would like to have in your tank beforehand and THEN to buy a tank. Please do not buy the tank first and overstock it later it will eventually lead to a catastrophy and a heartbreak.

Good luck to everyone :-)....and sorry for sounding harsh. I had no intention to attack others, just wanted to clear the waters for those, who are deciding on a purchase of the tank.

Marineland Penguin Power Head

Marineland PH0660 Penguin Power Head 660, 170GPHI purchased this to replaced an approx. 6 yr. old Penguin 660.

I was so pleased with the old powerhead I wanted to replace with same.

I was glad to see the model 660 was still available. The reliability and flexability would be hard to beat, especially at the price. They withstand being cloged, power outage, and being run "dry" during partial water chages. Definately a solid performer. Having tended over 60 aquiriums (salt and fresh)in the past at a local pet store and the personal use at home gives me a good idea of what works and what doesn't. This thing runs like a champ! Functional, flexable, tough and inexpensive.

I've used this pump now for about a year and it still works perfectly. Water circulation is outstanding. Only gripe I would have is that they need to be primed after every water change. For some reason, they hold the air inside the pump preventing water from flowing. Simple remedy is to just turn the unit upside down in the water for a few seconds to let the air out, once the water starts flowing again, just reinsert it back into the filter tube. Works perfect after that.

this pump head is an awesome buy it is whisper quiet and incredibly powerful would definitely buy more. I give this thing five stars, its quiet efficient and when you plug it in its so quiet that you never know it's on.

there's no knocking noise here unlike pumps from others... great product

biUbe Aquarium with Halogen Light, Silver, 9 Gallons

biUbe Aquarium with Halogen Light, Silver, 9 GallonsI was so excited to get an aquirium, and when i saw the biorbs and biubes i thought what a great invention. Easy to take care of, clean sleek design, very modern; just my style. Well, when I got my biube delivered to my home and opened the box, i was surprised to see there was hardly any accessories which means easy to setup. It was easy to setup, but when i took out my tank, there were scratches on the sides. Big, long scratches. What the hell? is what i was thinking. Should i return it? I paid over 120.00 for it. I looked at the prices a week later and it sky rocketed to almost 200.00. Overall, not worth it for 200.00, not even 129.99 over the internet. Buy this product in a store so you can easily check it for damage, and can easily return the item. I live in Hawaii and i dont have that option.

Aqueon Colormax LED Aquarium Lamp, Size 48So this led light differs from the white version only by the swapping out of every other light with a pinkish one. It definately brightened my aquarium and my hood still has room for one more. Great price!

I have two of these in my 60 gallon my lowlight plants are growing good and there super bright. Not sure if they will work with high light plants

This is a great product. The only problem i had was in ordering it. The product is almost always under review for not being as advertised. The package has a picture of the entire fixture, but based on the product description and the price no one should be confused. This is a bulb! The daylight bulb, included with the light fixture, on its own is very white. Colors looked a little washed out until I added this bulb. It is the perfect compliment for the daylight bulb.

Jardin Fish Tank Aquarium Vividly Float Plants Decor Ornament Orange

Jardin Fish Tank Aquarium Vividly Float Plants Decor Ornament OrangeWe upgraded our tank from a 39gal to a 100gal one and we needed some bigger/taller decor. These were the tallest i could find so i bought them and they look great! They are very bright and vibrant. They look great behind Spongebob's Pineapple! :)

These are a beautiful combination of orange and yellow. They are tall with several limbs. They tend to lay over, but that gives the appearance of being more realistic.

Marina Deluxe Oval Bubble Disk, 4.75 inch

Marina Deluxe Oval Bubble Disk, 4.75 inchThese stones work perfect for our outdoor dogs and their water bowl! It keeps their water moving, eliminating any chance of mosquitos and other pests getting in their water!

Also great for larger bird baths! It seems to attract more birds b/c they see the water rippling great item to stock up on for the warmer months!

The tube doesn't stay in place, and it doesn't create bubbles throughout the entire surface. It floats, and doesn't stay in place even with heavy rocks weighing it down. Beautiful and neat idea, just flawed design.

I love this airstone. The bubbles are large enough that I don't have to worry about them lodging in my larger fishes' fins and strong enough that works even when buried under the sand in my tank. Be advised that the stone doesn't say submerged as easily as pictured and will need to be mostly buried.

I purchased this while it was on sale and probably wouldn't get another one unless there was another price cut.

As another reviewer noted, it's too light-weight to stay anchored to the bottom of the aquarium on its own. There is a small dimple on the bottom side that I hot glued a small suction cup to. From there, I could mount it anywhere I wanted. Just be careful that the hot glue is safe for fish.

Marineland LED Aquarium Hood

Marineland LED Aquarium Hood 30 by 12I was satisfied with this product. the light quality is bright and crisp. i have always had florescent bulbs, and will say that this light seems superior. sufficiently bright, and good fish colors. the night light ('moon light') feature is cool too, and nice since we like to leave it on in the kitchen when we sleep, to guide us to late night snacks ;) BUT MAKE SURE YOU MEASURE YOUR FILTER! there is only ONE slot in the back and it measures approx 6.5" x 2.5" (measurements i could not find anywhere online!! so hope this helps you). my filter is 7" wide, so i had to take scissors and cut the plastic (kind of hard to do, but i was able to get it with some effort, and maybe scarified the scissors). and ONE hole means no space for a heater (unless you have a fully submersible kind, or dont care about using one, or are fine cutting more holes in the hood). i just dont use a heater, so that didnt bother me. as others mentioned having no spot to feed the fish can be annoying, but really, just lifting the lid (its hinged) is really not a big deal. overall, i considered the problems not that bothersome, and enjoy the light quality enough to ignore the annoyances.

In general I like the clarity and brightness of LED lighting, but I have to admit that I am not sure whether I can say I like it in the fish tank. My old flourescent hood provided a warmer light than this LED hood does, even though the mixing of blue LEDs in with the white was meant to tone down the light. I do like the night or "moonlight" mode which just uses the 3 blue LEDs. This offers my fish a good transitional period between day and complete dark.

At first, I really liked the low-profile look of the hood. I thought it was kind of cool that the whole hood hinged upwards when you opend it and attached directly to the tank instead of just resting on top of it. I quickly came to the conclusion that is not a very cool feature. First off the condensation on the underside of the hood races to the back and runs off. For the most part, it just goes right back into your tank but if you have an over-the-back filter, that means you now have water all over the top of your filter. Also, when you are opening the hood to feed your fish, it drips all over the place. The first time I fed my fish, I had the open food container in the same hand I used to partially prop open the hood and had a bunch of water drip into the container. That really pissed me off considering a small container of food is $12 and I couldn't salvage much. It is just poor design planning.

Also important to note about condensation is if you have hard water in the least bit, you will get deposits on not only the underside of the hood, but the light lens, and possibly the OTB filter. Add to the fact that the light lens is plastic so you cannot scrub hard-water off of it without scratching the hell out of the plastic lens and you have longevity issues. Even if you don't have very hard water, over time you will get deposits, it is just a fact of life in the aquarium hobby. Condensation management for this hood just plain sucks. Maybe if you live in an area where the humidity is very high and you don't condition the air in your house you will not have the kind of condensation issues I am having.

I also don't like the light coverage inside the tank. The edges of the tank are not lit up as they would be with a flourescent bulb spanning the entire length of the tank. Add to this that when you open the hood, the LEDs move away from the water and shine in your face. This design oversight means there is no way to make changes to the tank's contents and see how they look as you make the changes if you are trying to set it up for display. Instead, you have to remove your arm and close the lid to get the visual. As I was changing the tank contents around to make it look the best under the new lighting conditions, this became a pain. I suppose it is a one-time issue.

Also, the break-away/cut-away section on the hood for OTB filter and cords, etc.. seems to be opposite of my previous hoods. I had to completely rearrange the contents of my tank so that I could move the heater and filter and other accessories to take advantage of this hoods setup. I was not a happy camper! I spent a lot of time getting my tak the way I liked it and then had to try and mimic that in a mirrored version to make this hood work. (That should have been my clue to send it back, but I pressed on...)

Finally, there is no way to open the hood in increments. It is either fully open or closed. This means that when doing maintenance, you have to have no lighting in the tank because the LEDs are staring you in the face. I know, just turn them off but then you have to turn them back on and close the lid to see if what you were doing is actually complete.

In summary, I was not impressed. I think with more effort in the design department and more commitment by the manufacturer to develop something that helps to showcase the contents of an aquarium as well as lnot inhibit the ability to maintain the tank, LED lighting has the potnetial to take the hobby by storm. Right now, though, the only bragging rights this product has in my opinion are "First to Market". I would wait before making an LED hood purchase.

Buy Marineland LED Aquarium Hood Now

I'm thrilled with the Marineland LED Aquarium Hood 20 by 10; I bought it as a part of an aquarium set up, a birthday present for my son, who just turned eight years old.

Before purchasing this hood my reservation was:

Are the LEDs going to be bright enough?

I think I read a review that said they weren't. Well, I'm quite picky about lighting, so I bought an extra red LED light as a part of a decor feature Hydor Ario Red Volcano Kit (Med)as an extra security: if the brightness of the LEDs was really not up-to-par, at least I would have a secondary light source.

Well, I was happily surprised when I turned on the hood light, which exceeded my expectations in brightness. The white lights are so true and pure and bright. The white light makes each color very clear and bright in the tank. The white light setting is actually too bright for night (I have the tank facing my son's bed).

All LEDs are not created equal, that is for sure. Previously, I purchased a small cylindrical aquarium for my desk; it had LED lights, but they were barely bright enough to fill the tank and barely make enough light to even use as a nightlight.

These lights are quite bright; fine LEDs, no need to worry about that one.

The blue moonlight setting is so unbelievably beautiful for night! I put it on for a soothing nightlight for my son to sleep by. Furthermore, I think it soothes the fish to have blue light at night, too. They need a break from the light, just like they would at night in their natural setting in the wild.

If you haven't switched your tanks to LED lights please note that not only are the lights more beautiful than incandescent, which always seem to have a bit of yellow to them (NOT a good thing when it comes to aquarium lighting) they are also energy hogs. LEDs are low-watt wonders: they produce beautiful, bright light (if built right) and use very little energy, which pays you in the long run. Plus, and this is a BIG PLUS, they don't give off heat, which means far less algae. I mean, CONSIDERABLY LESS.

I only had to change my small LED lit tank ONE time in six months and the water was crystal clear when I changed it. Really. That is a far cry from the old incandescent ones that seem to cloud up every time you turn around. That means CONSIDERABLY less work and more enjoyment from this product.

Combined with the volcano red LED Hydor Ario Red Volcano Kit (Med)decor and the thrilling Sea Serpent decoration, my son now has a unique, gorgeous and fascinating tank to view before he dozes off at night.

The white LED lights are bright and illuminate the aquarium nicely. The clips fit securely to the aquarium frame and the hinges on the hood snap into the clips. The hood fit nicely into the frame of our 10-gallon aquarium. The handle on the front is easy to grasp and there is a removable piece near it you can take out so you can have a small opening in the hood (about 1" by 2") if you want for easy feeding without opening the hood.

The cutout opening in the back has plenty of room for our Fluval C2 power filter, both when the hood is closed and when it is open.

The LED unit itself is a separate module that snaps into the top of the hood. The switch is on the top of the LED unit slide it all the way to the left for the white day light, all the way to the right for the blue light and to the center if you want to turn it off.

We are very pleased with this hood/light.

I own two 29 gallon aquariums (30x18x12)and had been using a flat glass versa top and putting a standard strip light that you could pick up from Wal-Mart for under $10 as lighting. I replaced the standard 24 inch bulb in the light strips with Aqueon T-8 Full Spectrum Daylight Fluorescent Lamp bulbs. I used this approach because I was worried about evaporation and glass versa tops hold in water pretty well. This hood does a comparable job, perhaps allows a bit more evaporation. I purchased one of these hoods and instantly decided to purchase another after seeing the difference in lighting.

My 29 gallon aquariums houses juv. African cichlids of various species ranging from dwarf Mbuna to piscivore Haps and these LED lights really pulls out their color. I had to cut out more room in the back of the hood to allow for more "hang on the back" filters because my aquariums are, from a technical standpoint, "overstocked".

LED lighting is in my opinion much better than the Aqueon T-8 Full Spectrum Daylight Fluorescent Lamp bulbs that I had been previously using. These LEDs enhance the blues and yellows of my African cichlids great and produce a clean looking white light that I think looks more natural. That being said, you can purchase some absolutely amazing aquarium specific light bulbs that specialize in various things such as plant growth or specific color enhancement.

A quick Pros and Cons for this product.

Pros:

-Cheap Compared to Other Hoods

-VERY Cheap Compared to Other LED Hoods (some LED hoods I looked at range from $80 to $2,000. YIKES)

-Modifiable Filter Space (use a hand saw to cut out needed room for filters. "Measure twice and cut once")

-Prevents Evaporation Comparable to Glass Versa Top

-Produces Less Algae Due to Light Spectrum

-Really Pulls Out the Colors in Fish (noticeably increased the range of hue in the blues and yellows of my male Aulonocara Baenschi or "Benga")

-Creates a Water Ripple Lighting Effect

-White Light For Day-time

-Blue Light for Night-time (It simulates the moon light and allows you to observe your inhabitants in a night setting)

-Small Removable Insert In Front of Hood to Allow Quick Access Without Having to Open The Hood For Feeding

(hole created is roughly 2inx 3in)

Cons:

-Back-top Corners of the Aquarium Are Not Illuminated Well (this is due to the cone effect used in Aquarium LED lighting)

-More Evaporation Than A Glass Versa Top

-You Get What You Pay For

-Must Be Fully Closed or Fully Open

-Scratch-able Plastic Light Housing (use care and patience when cleaning)

-Bad For Planted Aquariums

-Hinges Are Low Quality

-Blue & White Light Are On The Same Plug

-Not a Lot of Room For Multiple Hang on the Back Filters if You Have an Overstocked Aquarium (easily enough room for a 40-60 gallon rated hang on the back filter)

I hope I provided an unbiased and helpful review. Good luck shopping and as always, have a great day.

Biosafe 30073 GreenClean Tablets, 3-Pound

Biosafe 30073 GreenClean Tablets, 3-PoundThis is the first time I have used this type of pond cleaner. It's very different from the liquid cleaners. The tabs "bubble" a lot and copious amounts of yucky green algae surface to the water so it's easy to scoop out with a net.... I would recommend turning the hose on in the pond after the tabs dissolve & let the green goo run out with the water. The liquid cleaners just clean without the mess but both most likely have different merits.

The product worked very marginally, it really did not clear the algea from the pond, maybe in tropical climates the dosis should be higher, but in my case it did not worked at all.

Pondmaster 02920 20-Watt Ultra-Violet-Light Pond Water Clarifier

Pondmaster 02920 20-Watt Ultra-Violet-Light Pond Water ClarifierMy backyard pond has always given me trouble with severe algae. I would clean it out and the next day it was green again. I could never enjoy my fish, and many were even dying. A local pond builder recommended I try a UV light as a last resort. I did lots of research online looking for the best one, since I knew nothing about UV lights. All the reviews I read on the Pondmaster UV light were good, and it seemed like a well-built product. I liked the idea of being able to use it in or out of the water. The only question I couldn't find an answer to was how to actually set it up in my pond with my pump and waterfall. I finally found a website with some help, but I would have been more confident in buying if I had more information on installation. When I received the product I found it was very easy to assemble and install. After 4 days my pond went from deep green to pale gray, then each day it got more and more clear. After about one week my pond is clear and I am enjoying watching my fish again. I would strongly recommend this product to any pond owner. It was so easy to install, and has cut my pond maintenance down significantly. No more dumping algaecides and clarifiers in with my fish either.

I bought a 20W bulb for ~2000 gallon pond. It has been running a couple of weeks and the water is clearer, but not clear. Perhaps the bulb included was not up to par. My biggest beef is that the enclosed set up diagram was completely wrong. You will need to attach a 3/4" fitting on the light housing to the 1" inside diameter of the 1 1/4" hose from a typical pond pump. You will need two sets of 3/4" to 1" nalgene fittings and two-3/4" and two-1" hose clamps.

I bought the pondmaster 02920 as a new item. However, when

i received the shipment, it's a used one. I can clearly see

some minor scratches on the surface. The UV light has some

kind of plague at the connector end. Also, the packing was

loose.

I am really disappointed with this type of service from amazon.

Farm Innovators PS-200 Pond Di-Icer Heated Saucer, 200-Watt

Farm Innovators PS-200 Pond Di-Icer Heated Saucer, 200-WattBought the unit, plugged it in and it worked great. It kept the ice from forming in the pond and my stream running through cold weather. The unit stopped working and a coil melted through the plastic. Customer service (800-277-8401) was called and they express shipped a new unit. Very friendly, great service. Hopefully the second unit will not fail.

Would recommend.

I bought this product two years ago. It worked great the first year and kept the fish alive. The second year it shorted out the outlet cutting the power off which I didn't catch until it was too late. I thought at first it was the outdoor lighting around the pond, but a week ago I took the lights out and put only the pond heater in figuring it would work. It turns out every time I plugged it in it would short out and cut off the electrical. I'm now in the market for a new pond heater. It was a shame to see those fish floating at the end of winter last year...

I love this pond heater. It worked great for 2 years, then just stopped working for no obvious reason and ended up being frozen solid in the ice for a couple months.

I liked it so much that I bought another, but if this one doesn't last more than 2 years, then I will switch brands.

I bought and used this item in my 370 gallon pond 4 months out of a year and it worked great, but the second year of use it did not work,I did nothing different from the first to the second year and handled and put it away in it original box during storage.I did the direction thing about putting it in a freezer to reset a thermostat, which it did work for a short time but froze itself in the pond ice,so unless you like spending money annually for a fairly decent deicer when it works or did work is up to you.

Myself i am trying something else and hopefully lasting for more than a year.

TOM Aquarium RP3 Plus (Rapids Pro Filter with Auto Fill System, 700gph pump)

TOM Aquarium RP3 PlusWhat was truly great about this product is the fact that it it was close to $100 cheaper than anywhere else listed when I searched prices.

I have just set up a saltwater reef again for the first time in over 10 years. So much has changed since the first time. The set up instructions leave a bit to be desired. The system is rather picky getting the adjustments just right; but once you do, the system works great! I ended up calling the company and talking with technical support for 1/2 an hour asking questions and getting answers to those questions; I was having issues with water movement and keeping the filter at the level of fill that they recommend even with the auto fill system. The filter seemed to be bringing an excess amount of bubbles back in to my tank. They recommended increasing the height of the auto fill tank up 2 inches more than the filter and also they truly mean it when they say the hoses should be as straight and as close as is possible. Each bend in the hose cuts down on the efficiency of the 700 GPH pump. I truly don't know if I would have been nearly as satisfied with the system if I hadn't called them for support with my issues.

This works sooo well! I have a 55gal reef tank and this suits it perfectly. I've used a couple canister filters (marineland magnum with dual bio-wheels and penn-plax cascade 700). To clean and change out filter media, you have turn off the filter and completely take it apart. With the TOM Aquarium RP3 Plus, you can keep everything running if you want and just change the filter pads right on top. It comes with everything you need for a typical wet/dry filter (bio-balls, ceramic cylinders, activated carbon pillow, prefilter pads as well as an activated carbon prefilter pad) as well as a built-in protein skimmer! There is no need for drilling your tank for an overflow. This does it for you! It uses a siphon to draw water from the tank and if the power goes out, the siphon is lost so it is next to impossible for your filter to overflow and spill out all over you floor! If your thinking "What happens when the power comes back on?" Well this amazing siphoning overflow box starts the siphon all by itself by drawing air from the siphon chamber as the pump runs. So you guessed it, water never overflows from the filter or your tank.

Another great idea this wet/dry filter has is a water top off system. It holds about 3.5gal and when constantly matches the water level in the filter. If water in the filter gets low, so does the water in the reservoir. When that happens, you will hear a gurgle sound as water empties little by little until it reaches the right level again. I usually have to fill the reservoir every 1-2 months depending on the temperature of the room.

Get this! It will save time on filter maintenance giving you more time to just relax and just watch your tank as it is meant to used!

As soon as I started to open the box I knew I had made the right choice. The packaging was outstanding. Pretty much everything was triple boxed. I got the directions and have read a few reviews elsewhere that they were lacking. I found the directions to be more than thorough. They were idiot proof if you ask me. Even had pictures with arrows pointing to the correct thing that they were speaking about. Went together without a hitch and had it running an hour after getting the box from Fed Ex. The filter comes with plenty of media if you choose to use what they supply. The nice thing is that you can customize what you want to put in the trays and you do not have to turn it off to do so. So far the filter is working great. I can not comment on the skimmer yet because I am only on day 2 and it can take awhile for skimate to begin collecting. I have had skimmers before and I don't see how this will fail.

What I was most impressed about is the customer service from Koller Creaft (makers of TOM Aquarium). I had a few questions after set up and found their number on the web. I left a message for the aquarium guy and he had called me back within a half hour. He was very willing to answer my questions and I did not feel rushed or anything. I was really surprised the time he spent to make sure I was completely satisfied. Two thumbs up!

My questions were:

1) How to make the water level in the sump go up using the auto fill.

Answer-Raise the auto fill with 2x4 or bricks higher than the sump. Higher it is, higher the water level will be (gravity duh!)

2) How to make it less noisy. I have it in a stand that is hollow underneath and is on hardwood floors.

Answer-Place foam sheet under unit to help absorb the vibrations. Remember to move the auto fill up too if you choose to do this. Gravity will drain the water from the sump into the auto fill if the sump is higher.

3) How to reduce micro bubbles from out flow.

Answer-Make sure the hoses are as straight as possible like the instructions says. The less slack the better.

If I had to give this unit one negative it would be the hoses. They are ribbed flexible tubes and when the water from the overflow is trickling down the overflow hose, it is quite noisy. Sounds like a rain shower in the room where the tank is. Like any overflow unit there will be a trickle sound anyway so this is not a deal breaker. I plan on getting foam pipe insulation like the stuff that is put on pipes that have a chance of freezing. It should make a big difference.

Overall I like the functionally and the fact I can customize it to my needs to properly filter my 75 gallon reef tank. Highly recommend this unit.

Well, long story short. Decided to grab one from Warehouse deals ( Amazon returns, etc. ) for over $100 less. They said, Like new in package? well upon it's arrival, it was cracked on the top by the skimmer cup. Upon looking, I decided to try it and works fine. Though a cosmetic crack in the housing, which I can glue. So far doing great and at 1/4 the cost of a brand new one ! And like everyone else, I had to adjust the skimmer cup so it would emit the correct amount of air from the cup.

biOrb Tropical Heater Pack

biOrb Tropical Heater PackAll the elements of this set are available separately for less. The heater is manufactured by Hydor -it's the THEO Submersible Aquarium Heater 50W UL. If you have a Baby Biorb, the 25W version is fine. You can get the thermometer anywhere for a couple of bucks. If you have the round Biorb, you will also need the Biorb heater holder which has angled suction cups to fit the round Biorb tank (its the one included in this package although it doesn't match the picture). Fortunately, it's available separately. Enjoy your tank!

I must tell you that this product is exactly as advertised. My fish are greatly enjoying the warmth it provides. Easy to install

I have a biorb mega, and this thing will not stay stuck to the side. No matter how hard I press the suction cups, a few minutes later it's free-floating around my "orb." Trying to adhere suction cups to a curved surface is a pain.

Arrived supper fast... faster than my fish tank :)

It did not come with everything, but I am not really going to cry about a sample packed of missing fish food.

I wasn't sure if the thermometer would be separate or part of the heater unit so was pleased to see it was and I can use it to check the temperature of water during changes. Saves a couple of dollars

---update well now I know what to buy to fit a Biorb you can buy these items separately for $10 less.

The heater holder I received is not the same one that is pictured which was disappointing. I haven't been able to use the actual heater yet because the holder that is included does not stick to my baby biorb.

The fish food was also not included.
