AquaClear Quick Filter Powerhead Attachment (fits all sizes AquaClear Powerheads)

AquaClear Quick Filter Powerhead AttachmentThis product is a must have if you want super quick filtration without buying an additional power filter. Like a canister filter this thing quickly polishes the tank after cleanings and the debris is eliminated within a half hour. Without this, it took my tank about 2-3 hours to get clear, but with this quick filter my tank looks as though you could reach through the glass it's so clear! I leave the powerhead on 1/2 power during regular operation but turn it to full for polishing after tank cleanings. I love Aqua Clear.

The quickfilter and powerhead combo really clear up your tank after a water change. I highly reccomend this combo.

Buy AquaClear Quick Filter Powerhead Attachment (fits all sizes AquaClear Powerheads) Now

The AquaClear Quick Filter is a pretty effective water polisher. There isn't much else that you can say about it. That is what the Quick Filter was designed for and essentially all it does.

The AquaClear Quick Filter Refill Cartridge filter sleeves have a fine mesh that prevents all but the most minuscule particles from passing through; great for polishing water but because of this, the AquaClear Quick Filter clogs fast. I use the filter only after gravel vacuuming or any disturbances in my substrate. It will clear my 150 gallon tank in about 12 hours with an AquaClear 70 Powerhead on full.

The filter comes with two plastic media cages that the filter sleeve wraps around. These cages also serve as a place for carbon, peat or zeolite to be added, but because the filter clogs quickly, these media baskets are fairly pointless other than to wrap the filter sleeves around.

The upside of The AquaClear Quick Filter is that it is exactly what it says it is, a 'quick' filter, and as a quick filter, the AquaClear is perfect. As a biological or chemical filter, the AquaClear Quick Filter is essentially useless. But that is what other filters are for, right?

I use the Quick Filter in my water dragon enclosure. It doesn't get much easier. I always have one ready to go and swap them out as needed. I also reversed the internals and added ammo-carb to the filter.

i would continue to use this filter but ts a littl to tall for my 10g nano setup i would think people with 20+g tanks wouldnt have this issue but when i install this on my aquaclear 20 powerhead its almost the height of the tank!!!! so i could use it but i dont want my powerhead that high.... but will save if i need in a pinch

Marina Net Trap, Fine Mesh

Marina Net Trap, Fine MeshWe are in the process of trying to breed guppies. This breeding net is so simple to put together, and seems sturdy enough for all the fry. We have about 20 fry right now in there, and there is still plenty of room for more :). the only problem i have so far with it is the size, it would be fine for maybe a 10 gallon tank...but takes up alot of space in our small 6 gallon. We plan on updating our tank soon, because out guppies are multiplying like crazy. I would reccomend this to anybody who has a ten gallon tank or larger.

This little gadget is easy to assemble and super simple to assemble in a pinch! We have about 26 guppy babies that are happy and safe from the bigger fish of the tank :)

Buy Marina Net Trap, Fine Mesh Now

This net does what it is supposed to do, and once it's set into place, it is alright. But setting it up is a little painful. You insert the plastic sides, then pull the net tight and tie the string around the top. To secure it to the side of the tank, you use metal arms and bend them over the side. During this whole process those plastic sides you inserted are falling out of their hole (they do not click into place). But to look on the bright side... it works, it will fold flat when I'm finished with it.

This worked great for a 5 inch fish that was injured by getting stuck in a sunken ship. The product is easy to assemble and clean. Great price too! Shipped on time with no issues.

i would recommend this to other customers, because i assembeled in less than 1 minute (LITERALLY) and it looks pretty good, except i was a little scared of the plastic rods breaking while assembling, but no it didn't so i am pretty glad with my purchase, i bought mine at a local pet store and it costed me about $6 a little more expensive than amazon, but i'd rather pay 50cents than wait 5-8 days for it to be shipped, i haven't used it yet, but i've already assembled it, the only bad thing about this item is that is has 2 metal hooks that you can easily bend to hook over your fish tank, not suction cups , so if you have a closed top fish tank like i do it won't close dow perfectly but oh well, not a big deal at all, a pretty good size no super big, and not super small, just right for my new baby guppy fry!!! have about 50 of them!!! the net also feels really soft, hope it stays that way for a long time!!

Aruliden Fishscape Fish Bowl

Aruliden Fishscape Fish BowlLOVE the beauty of this bowl. Absolutely stunning, and we get non-stop compliments. Problem is that one of "mountains" developed a crack after 6 months and the bowl can't be used anymore. We gave this bowl TLC and the crack came on suddenly, seemingly without cause. The manufacturer won't stand behind their product and told us they won't do anything for us since we've had it for "so long". For this price, I expect something that would last longer than your average inexpensive fish bowl. This is the best looking fish bowl I've ever seen, but definitely not worth the price.

I bought this bowl thinking it would be an art piece and unique fish bowl. Unfortunately, every fish I put in it died within two days, including two bettas and one goldfish. I quickly removed the second goldfish and put him in another fishbowl I had laying around. It's been six months and he is doing well. So I have to assume it was the bowl. I did make a terrarium out of it and the plants (succulents) have survived, but I'm wondering if there was something in the annealing process that does not make it suitable for fish. Other than that, it's a cool piece.

Buy Aruliden Fishscape Fish Bowl Now

Beautiful piece of art. But it provides no nooks or connecting points (with gasket at bottom to prevent leakage) for airpump, filter, light, etc. So best to use with spherical algae and maybe some small shrimp. Oxygen stones maybe required from time to time. Wiping algae off the inner structure can be a chore. But still quite neat. Sorry, I don't own this.

Aquarius Aq15005 Aquarius 5 Rounded 5-Gallon Aquarium Kit

Aquarius Aq15005 Aquarius 5 Rounded 5-Gallon Aquarium KitI have three of these for breeding ornamental shrimp. Got them for a great deal with a local fish store went under a little while ago. I notice there is no review, so here is my opinion.....

The tank:

The "Panaview" idea is a bit false. Because of the hard curve on the corners, it can be very difficult to see what is happening at the edges of the tank, a few inches from the acrylic. That said, for the most part, the flat front leads to clear views of what is inside, and if my shrimp are close to the wall, I can see them whether they are behind the curve or not.

The lid fits into a pair of hinges, but doesn't actually snap in. Makes it very easy to open, leave open, close, and best of all, remove easily for water changes and prevent it from overbalancing backward when aquarium is empty.

The one drawback to the lid is that there is enough room to hook the little hook for holding the filter over the back, and that's about it, unless you're going to do some modifying. Honestly, getting the cord for the heater I use through is a snug fit. This is good for, say, crabs, crayfish, and stronger shrimp that may attempt to go on 'walkabout', but it doesn't allow a lot of space to add additional items such as a sponge filter, airstone, etc. Without the filter in place, I can *just* fit a single airline and the heater cord through the hole. On the one single tank that I use all three, I have simply drilled an additional hole in the lid for the airline. Easy breezy--if you have a drill. That said, I don't anticipate most people attempting to add additional stuff beyond perhaps a filter. Keep in mind, I use it for invertebrates that can climb out--I have dwarf crays in one, and mini-crabs in with my cherry shrimp. If you have nothing that you're worried about getting out, there is a cut-out option for a HOB (hang on back) filter and heater (don't use an HOB heater on this, please! But they will leave large holes, and they don't, honestly, look very easy to remove. The tabs that hold the cutouts in place look quite strong. I have never attempted to remove them, and I can't imagine that I ever will. For my purposes, if I need an extra airline fed in, I'm just going to drill a tight fitting hole, which I suspect is less work anyway.

The lighting:

Their is a bank of nine white LED lights, and nine blue ones. They can be set to have either the white, the blue, or both in place. The light level is enough for lower light plants, such as java moss, java fern, dwarf lily, or most hygrophilia, but if you're thinking of making a nano or pico tank, you'll need to work on the lighting. (If you don't know what I'm talking about there, it's honestly not a concern....though....look it up, as it's a very fun hobby! XD)

I don't think that this tank is terribly aesthetic without the lid it comes with, as it has a lip similar to that on the critter keepers....I honestly don't know how to explain it, but basically, it's a hollow lip that I can fit my fingertips under. Looks better hidden.

The Filter;

I admit to not using this in any of my tanks, but for one. It is a submerged filter, with an open top, and decent sized intake vents. The water flow is also surprisingly strong from it. All said, it would be perfect for a betta (providing it's still hale and healthy...a weak or very old betta may get sucked up against the intake), or other smaller fish. Not so good with my mini-shrimp and other inverts that I keep in here. The entire design is quite open, and shrimp climbing in for the delicious detritus on the insert only to be sucked through the impeller is an all too realistic reality. Not to say that I haven't found use for these, however!!! I keep them in my tank of pre-aged, pre-cycled water that I use for tank changes, and use them for quiet and decent water movement to prevent stagnation. Generally, I've been using them more as a micro-powerhead than a filter. XD I've been pleased, as so far, they all continue to move water rapidly and well, but then, they also aren't really contending with any serious bioload--just that of a few cory's that tool around and help the water I use for water changes in my more delicate tanks age and get it matched perfectly, chemistry wise.

That's about it to this tank. Not a super high tech little setup, but if you're planning on keeping a few smaller, cool water fish (ie: white clouds), it'll work. Better yet, get yourself a sponge filter, a heater, and some shrimp! Not that I'm biased or anything. LOL

A random side note NOT related to this product, but very much related to fish keeping:

If you decide to keep A FEW small, tropical fish and pick up a heater....pick up a good one. Read the reviews. Heaters can kill your fish very quickly if they fail, not to mention cheap ones present a fire hazard. I state this because I once had a cheap hang on back heater literally melt through the wall of one of these tanks when it failed, to much loss of life, very sadly.. You get what you pay for!

We decided to get a few fish and a small tank for our son for his 10th birthday and it has been everything we haoped it would for him and this tank has helped make it a great gift. The tank is small enough to fit on a dresser top, has a lighted cover, very clear plastic for viewing, and comes with a little filter so you have a wider option of fish you can house.

The first few weeks I had been complaining that the included filter was underpowered and didn't seem to be doing a good job keeping the tank clean, but I have since learned that the rocks I chose were the key problem and were effetively locking the gunk down in the bottom and it wasn't the filter's fault at all. I was using the larger decor rocks that are upwards of .75" each. Advice to those buying this tank, use the typical small rocks that come in the 2.5# bags and lok look large chunk kitty litter, that will be more accomodating with this filter.

I was really pleasantly surprised when I unpacked and set up this aquarium. Very easy! It's just the right size for smaller fish and looks great on a desk...or anywhere! The filter works very well and the lighting is nice. Highly recommend.

Update Aug. 30: Still highly pleased with the tank. Everything still works and the water is staying nice & clean with the included filter. Very happy!

Update: Oct. 24, 2012: Still really like the aquarium, but the on/off switch for the lights stopped working...the lights will only stay on...I have unplugged the light, which is fine as I have African-clawed frogs in the aquarium and they don't need extra lighting.

I don't understand all the good reviews for this tank! Besides that it was inexpensive, and the lights are fine, there is nothing good to say about it. The hood was beyond bizarre -the big filter thing that you have to hang over the back of the tank and into the inside can't be installed until you CUT OUT a big chunk of the hood... why isn't it designed with a piece that simply lifts out??? The piece you cut out is made to be cut out (??) but I had to use a sturdy serrated knife to do it, and I'm really lucky I didn't get severely injured in the process. The filter itself doesn't hang at the proper angle, so I have a children's book wedged between the motor of the filter and the outside of the tank. Lovely. And the filter has a constant loud hum... makes me realize just how quiet (silent, in fact) my old tank filter was (i had a small Aqueon tank). I have to return this, I guess, what a pain! You get what you pay for, in this case.

Want Aquarius Aq15005 Aquarius 5 Rounded 5-Gallon Aquarium Kit Discount?

I love the tank. It's a perfect fit to go right on top of my dresser. The lights look really good as well. There was a small crack where the lights are, but nothing worth fussing over. It still works perfectly fine. The filter was working great while I had it running, unfortunately it's too strong for my poor little beta fish. Betta's don't like currents as it is, so I think I'm going to switch over to a sponge filter. But besides that the product id great with an unbeatable price! (:

Marineland 31010 Silicone Caulker, 10.3 oz, (304)ml

Marineland 31010 Silicone Caulker, 10.3 oz,mlI bought a used 125 gal. , it leaked. I cut out the old silicon and reglued it. It holds water now.

I used this to Reseal a 55 Gallon long tank. I know that buying from the pet store will not

allow me to reseal it completely due to the amount of silicone most commercial pet stores offer. Buying this is the same price,if not cheaper, of the overprice smaller tubes pet stores offer. Even after completely sealing my 55 gallon long tank, I still have about only less than 1/4 left. Plus it is easier with a caulking gun as you will need to work fast before it starts curing.

This stuff is very clear after curing like brand new silicone from today's fish tanks. But differs due to how well you prep your tanks.

Buy Marineland 31010 Silicone Caulker, 10.3 oz, (304)ml Now

I had a resin birdbath that started leaking because the caulk had pulled away just from exposure to the outside elements. Most of the caulks I checked into were NOT safe for birds, animals, or humans (folks it sure is worth the time to read the FINE print....read the warnings on bathtub caulk) and I needed one that would be ok to be submersed in water. After reading the other reviews, I chose this brand and it has not disappointed me in its performance. the fountain is up and running and NOT leaking! The only improvement I can see would be if the manufacturer would carry smaller tubes of it....what a waste.Marineland 31010 Silicone Caulker, 10-1/2-Ounce, 292-Gram

MAY 2013

Sadly, the "fix" was shortlived. I would not recommend this product. Now the birdbath has found a new use and is a beautiful planter for portuluca, cacti, and other cascading desert plants.

This glue will do the job for you if you need to repair any glass that requires to holding of water or liquids. Used a couple bottles on a cracked aquarium, worked well.

Smeels HORRIBLE however, hold your breath!

Want Marineland 31010 Silicone Caulker, 10.3 oz, (304)ml Discount?

Bought this to reseal an old 30 gallon tank. it wasn't leaking but turtles I had started to rip up the original seal. I washed tank out, ripped out as much of the old seal as possible, and after a good drying, resealed with this sealant.

It's been more than a month and so far so good. Now with the left over of the sealant I plan on adding some mods like internal overflow box to one of my other tanks. I've got some acrylic glass pieces lying around so figure why not now that I have the sealant. Just a note you probably want to use this somewhere well ventilated since it gives off a strong vinegar like smell as part of the curing / drying process.

API Aquarium Salt, 16-Ounce

API Aquarium Salt, 16-OunceI have very hard water in my area, so this works great to condition the water. Just make sure you don't use too much.

I have a number of five gallon freshwater tanks but of course they can use about a tablespoon of salt per tank. Have used to cure fin rot. My "technique" is to fill a five gallon jug with tap water. Add one tablespoon of the salt and whatever else I need to put in there (stress coat, algae drops, etc.) let it stand overnight at least. I siphon out a bit of water from each tank and replace with the water from the jug as needed. This eliminates problem with having the salts dissolve and from my experience is just a good practice if you are dealing with tap water.

In my case when used for fin rot I did daily water changes of about 1/3 the tank. Having it pre-mixed keeps the consistency you need for each change and that definitely helps the fish.

The aquarium salt is good. I usually get the bigger one since i have a 55g tank. It works good, fish look healthy. Haven't lost a fish in months, maybe this is the reason.

Only complaint would be if you have plecos/bottom feeders make sure they dont eat this. They will die. I put the salt in my fish net and let it dissolve in the net.

New Life Spectrum Extra Large Fish 2240g

New Life Spectrum Extra Large Fish 2240gThis is some GOOD stuff people! I feed this mainly to my arrowana and flowerhorn, but my other larger fish like to steal it from my aro (flowerhorn has it's own tank). With all my other silver arrowanas, through improper diet they developed drop eye, got sick, and just wasn't as healthy as they should be. A year to a year and a half ago I got a new silver arrowana. I fed him NLS since he was a few inches till now at around 20+ inches. He has no drop eye and still loves his NLS pellets! Before that I used to feed live food (they died early and looked crappy/raggedy), then moved to hikari carnivore sticks. With the carnivore sticks it wasn't much better than the live feeders as they started to have health problems, still developed drop eye, and after a while really didn't appreciate the food that much. The NLS is awesome and he attacks the food with the gusto that he did since day one (he hits it like he is hitting live prey!). He is active and not lazy like the ones I raised on hikari and/or live foods, and just one happy aro! The flowerhorn fed on NLS is a BEAST with beautiful vibrant colors, a really feisty personality, and a HUGE head! I wish they made a larger floating pellet. The NLS megafish formula is 10mm but sinking which would give the arrowana's tankmates an easier time to steal his pellets. I like the size and would use the megafish formula but is is more expensive for less product even in bulk...Get some NLS it it's the BEST out there.

Coralife Energy Savers ACL53106 double Aqualight power center, 48-Inch, 4x65wGreat product!

It has nice power output for coral propagation in small tanks.

Was able to install it inside a hood. Use of a fan would be recommended due to temperature.

Good lights...except they dont last very long. I have had 2 so far in 8 years.

Naturally the bulbs have to be replaced but the internal wiring becomes hard and brittle and no longer functions.

I just bought 4 new bulbs...approx $25 each but they wont all work. So do I buy a whole new unit that will last maybe 3 years. Or change to a new product. But I know this one will fit. Hmmmmmm?? Maybe this is typical of all lights?

Firestone Pond Liners AFRRAC0030 Fire Quickseam Repair Kit for Large Aquarium

Firestone Pond Liners AFRRAC0030 Fire Quickseam Repair Kit for Large AquariumWe have a two 2000 gallon ponds in our backyard. The deer seem to love to try to walk on them during the winter freeze. This winter one fell through the ice an his hoof punctured our lining in 2 places. The holes were the size of a silver dollar at least. The repair kit was very self explanatory and easy to use. They adhered almost instantly and we filled the ponds within an hour of the repair. The water is still holding and the patches worked great. The kit comes with 2 patches. We cut one in half and used each half on each hole so we have another patch to use if this happens again. It's a little pricy but worth the money. (side note) I ordered this patch a bit cheaper on another website...after 2 weeks of waiting, found out it was on back order...no one told me.) After endless research on trying to get a hold of that company, I finally was able to cancel the order. I then ordered from Amazon and the patch was here within the week! I have had great success ordering from Amazon.com.

Ended up having to return this since they sent the wrong size.

is a very good product, meets all my expectations and exceeds them inclsuo, really highly recommended, my fish will love and most importantly does not alter my parameters

Buy New Life Spectrum Thera A 300g Now

This is currently the best dry fish food for general marine reef aquarium use. The .5mm Small Fish Thera+A pellets apply here as well big fish may have a problem with these two smallest size pellets, but tangs do quite well with both smallest sizes. Anemones and many corals love it as well. Some fish really go for this food rabidly right from the get-go while some have to get used to pellets, but they do.

I have used Thera+A for about 5 years now, and as my staple food for the last two years since Vibragrow small marine pellets went out of production. Thera+A does wonders for color almost as well as Vibragrow, naturally and helpfully for best fish health as well not just for good healthy color. Thera+A is better in some ways than Vibragrow was, but not quite as good in other ways. Thera+A is still currently king of dry fish foods rest assured.

Some dry fish foods really should not be used as a staple food and will not maintain top health like this one does. Thera+A has not only the wide variety but also the proper variety for maximizing fish health. Thera+A also has garlic which does seem to make some difference as well, in my opinion and in the opinions of many other marine reef hobbyists as well. I used to make my own frozen food mix with very similar variety, and sell it locally too, which also had Selcon ingredients in it as well. It was tops for taste (according to many, many fish) and for variety and health too, but was not so convenient to make or even to feed, and not quite as good on the color enhancement for the fish. The pellet form of Thera+A also locks in the vitamins (and other nutrients), until the fish can eat it, better than flake or frozen foods do.

Some hard to keep fish do at least somewhat better when fed this food, such as the Mandarin Goby which may ignore other foods or just not get the food value from other foods which they must normally must get from live foods (like copepods which grow naturally right in well kept reef aquariums) to give them the specialized nutrition they need to survive and thrive in captivity.

Lee's Airline Holders, Pack of 6

Lee's Airline Holders, Pack of 6I bought these to affix my airline hose to the inside of my freshwater aquarium tank. I assembled the suction cups, pressed it against the inside of the aquarium, and it fell off in less than 3 minute. The suction cups are to rigid and don't allow enough suction to keep them on the glass. They should make the cups out of some kind of soft rubber like the ones that come with the heaters. What a waste!

This is a good quality product that works. The pegs for the actual holders are cross shaped and are to be inserted into the round hole on the suction cup. The hole is rather stiff and requires some force to insert the peg...that is if you dont use your head.

The easiest way to get the peg in the hole is to first stick the end of a pen into the hole for about a minute. This will forcibly enlarge the hole just enough so that you can get the peg in. Take out the pen and quickly put the peg in before it closes. Done. No need to make you fingers all red.

I prefer this two piece design over a one piece that you would say need to route the tubing through. This design allows you to easily reposition the holder if necessary.

Do you want suction cups that become hard, rigid plastic with zero suction after being submerged for 20 minutes? These are the ones for you!

Do you want suction cups that require assembly, but because the pieces don't fit together, you end up breaking one of the pieces? These are the ones for you!

Do you want to destroy your $30 C02 diffuser because when you press it against the tank, the suction cup doesn't flex? These are the ones for you!

Garbage.

It came in a package that seemed like I could have made it and you have to push each side into each other and may have some difficulty but honestly it is worth the money

It is extremely difficult to assemble these suction cups. It is very difficult to insert the clips. In the end I threw them away.

Colors are not as bright as they appear and the product is a little cheap looking. It's still cute and I will still be using it in my new fish bowl!

Petco Black Rock Decorative Bubble Bar Aerating Aquarium Ornament

Petco Black Rock Decorative Bubble Bar Aerating Aquarium OrnamentThis item arrived cracked on the bottom and lacking instructions. It creates a nice bubble wall and looks good in my aquarium. It needs to be heavier, though. It was tough to get it to stay put.
