Exotic Environments Ship's Bow Floral Aquarium Ornament

Exotic Environments Ship's Bow Floral Aquarium OrnamentI like this ornament but the silk flowers and leaves turned black with algae and the color looks not as great now even after cleaning.

My smallest goldfish loves hiding in the ship for most of the day (he is a weak swimmer). I can tell he is glad he has that hideyhole.

I was hunting all over the place for one of these "shipwreck" type of decorations, and liked this one as soon as I saw it. Of course, I was a little skeptical about its size and the fact that it had plants attached. I'm not a particularly good judge of estimating size, and I wanted something big enough to take up space in my 75-gallon tank without overwhelming it. I couldn't be happier! The details of the ship look as realistic as a decoration can, the plants are placed and accent the ship perfectly, and the hollowed section underneath gives my fish and turtle a great hiding spot. Meanwhile, it's not astronomically priced, like other "shipwrecks" tend to be. Looks great in my tank.

Buy Exotic Environments Ship's Bow Floral Aquarium Ornament Now

I love this ship. It is very colorful and still somewhat natural. My fish love that they have a place to hide. Wish it were taller though for my 50 gallon tank. Don't regret the purchase and it adds pop to the tank while still being a usable piece of art.

Marineland 31010 Silicone Caulker, 10.3 oz, (304)ml

Marineland 31010 Silicone Caulker, 10.3 oz,mlI bought a used 125 gal. , it leaked. I cut out the old silicon and reglued it. It holds water now.

I used this to Reseal a 55 Gallon long tank. I know that buying from the pet store will not

allow me to reseal it completely due to the amount of silicone most commercial pet stores offer. Buying this is the same price,if not cheaper, of the overprice smaller tubes pet stores offer. Even after completely sealing my 55 gallon long tank, I still have about only less than 1/4 left. Plus it is easier with a caulking gun as you will need to work fast before it starts curing.

This stuff is very clear after curing like brand new silicone from today's fish tanks. But differs due to how well you prep your tanks.

Buy Marineland 31010 Silicone Caulker, 10.3 oz, (304)ml Now

I had a resin birdbath that started leaking because the caulk had pulled away just from exposure to the outside elements. Most of the caulks I checked into were NOT safe for birds, animals, or humans (folks it sure is worth the time to read the FINE print....read the warnings on bathtub caulk) and I needed one that would be ok to be submersed in water. After reading the other reviews, I chose this brand and it has not disappointed me in its performance. the fountain is up and running and NOT leaking! The only improvement I can see would be if the manufacturer would carry smaller tubes of it....what a waste.Marineland 31010 Silicone Caulker, 10-1/2-Ounce, 292-Gram

MAY 2013

Sadly, the "fix" was shortlived. I would not recommend this product. Now the birdbath has found a new use and is a beautiful planter for portuluca, cacti, and other cascading desert plants.

This glue will do the job for you if you need to repair any glass that requires to holding of water or liquids. Used a couple bottles on a cracked aquarium, worked well.

Smeels HORRIBLE however, hold your breath!

Want Marineland 31010 Silicone Caulker, 10.3 oz, (304)ml Discount?

Bought this to reseal an old 30 gallon tank. it wasn't leaking but turtles I had started to rip up the original seal. I washed tank out, ripped out as much of the old seal as possible, and after a good drying, resealed with this sealant.

It's been more than a month and so far so good. Now with the left over of the sealant I plan on adding some mods like internal overflow box to one of my other tanks. I've got some acrylic glass pieces lying around so figure why not now that I have the sealant. Just a note you probably want to use this somewhere well ventilated since it gives off a strong vinegar like smell as part of the curing / drying process.

Ecoxotic EcoPico Desktop Fish Aquarium, 5 galllon

Ecoxotic EcoPico Desktop Fish Aquarium, 5 galllonI was looking for a 5 gallon tank for my Betta that was stuck in a .8 gallon and getting fin rot due to my lack of education. Once I learned they needed at least a 5 gallon and filtered tank my search was on. I looked everywhere for the perfect tank, one that would be stylish but also meet all my needs. I decided to spend the extra money and purchase the EcoPico and am so glad I did. It is such a simple design and system that it took no time to put together. Given the wattage the LEDs put out I decided to try my luck (first timer) with live plants because I had also read that artificial plants can tear your fishes fins. My plants are growing great, I have even had to prune one of them back twice because it is growing so well. I have had my tank for almost two months now and my water test great every time. The filter is so quiet if I didn't see plants moving I wouldn't even know it was on. My only concern had been the turbulence of the water from the filter on my Betta. Since he wasn't used to swimming much he was getting thrown around a bit. I called the company and they suggested I lower the filter in the water and that has helped completely. He is now doing great and loves his new home. My only complaint I have is there is no on/off switch for the LEDs, so you have to just plug and unplug to turn on and off. Two fixes for this are a plug in switch or a plug in timer, I prefer the switch because I like to have the tank lit late sometimes when I am in the room but for someone with a steady schedule the timer would be the best thing.

**Update: I have now had my Ecopico for over a year now and my plants still look great. I am not very good with fish so I have lost a few in the beginning but I am improving. However, I want to comment on Ecoxotic. They are a great company to work with. Twice now I have had problems with my led, once was my fault when I plugged my laptop charger into the transformer and fried the leds. I even told them what I did and they still sent me a replacement free of charge.

I love the look of the tank and I'm even getting another one soon. I ordered from ecoxotic though. Anyway, the light it comes with is bluish...i upgraded the lights but i still don't like the lighting, so I put my ecoxotic module on top of that . Looks a little ghetto. I love the design, but in all reality, so much for just a glass tank...pricey. I guess what you can do is get another arm light and up the LEDs on it. I also replaced the filter (filter sucks) with a fluval mini internal filter. I still love the tank, I just wish i could order it without the blue light and the filter.... :/.

I had been looking at aquariums for a while but couldn't decide which to get. A friend of mine gave me the EcoPico for a birthday present. BEST GIFT EVER! I set everything up, a nice cave, some gravel, 4 guppies and a pleco. About two months later, everything died. This may have been negligence on my part, after all I had no idea what I was doing, didn't realize I had to cycle my tank first, and I never looked inside the filter. Anyway, when cleaning up the casualties, I realized the filter was composed of a simple sponge! All mechanical. No chemical filtration was provided. I went out and bought some pantyhose, added some carbon, and some biomax...set everything up again (like 3 months later...I couldn't bare everything dying again so soon after)and the tank has been doing wonderfully since! The second time around, I still didn't know about cycling the tank but everything worked out anyway...I think I got lucky with my combination of plants and brackish water fish. Anyway, I give this tank 4 stars simply because a 5 star tank should provide everything you need for a healthy environment. Other than that though, this tank is amazing! Oh, and the filter may be small but it provides some very powerful pumping action! The lights bring out the colors of my fish (black gravel helps too) and I can never get enough of them! I can wake up and stare at the aquarium for hours without realizing. It's got a sleek design and looks very modern. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I have youtube videos as well...just look up the ecopico. Key words include knight goby and neon blue dwarf gourami.

I did not purchase this tank from Amazon, but from another private seller here in Chicago.

I wanted the cool looking small tank for one of my Betta males.

I already own 6.6 gallon Fluval Chi and wanted to keep the "theme" here.

The tank houses only 1 Betta male, few live plants and one Marimo Moss ball.

I LOVE the tank. There's nothing better looking than a glass aquarium.

The LED light is a great touch and a big help, if you want to have live plants. It does not produce any heat, so it's safe to leave it on for many hours.

The tank does come with a LID!

The only thing I had to fiddle with was the filter. It's a powerful little fella and it caused a bit of turmoil for my Betta guy. It took me few days of adjusting the media inside and to cover few intake holes to lower the current to minimum. The filter originally operates only with a sponge media inside, so I upgraded to one of those ACUREL pads they come in various types there's one with Carbon, then Ammonia reducer, Algae reducer, Nitrate control, etc. These pads are higher density, so they reduce the flow of the water inside the filter, plus Carbon adds the power to the filtration process.

I also wanted to keep the sleek look of the tank, so I put the black foil on the back side of the tank, so now the filter and my 50W heater are practically invisible behind the plants.

I uploaded some pictures of the tank and the filter.

The maintenance is extremely easy compared to my previous 95 gallon reef tank (or all my other tanks for that matter).

I have a bit of OCD, so I siphon out at least 25% of the water every 5-6 days, vacuum the poop from the gravel, wipe the water level marks, squeeze the Marimo moss ball, preen the plants and check the little cave for a slime build up (there's almost none). This all takes me only about 15 minutes since the tank is only 5 gallons. Then I put the pretreated fresh water in, check the water quality and that's it.

For the people, who don't want to spend even 15 minutes cleaning the tanks, here's my recommendation please do NOT buy ANY fish (+ tank). Fish are the living creatures and they DO NEED the continuous care.

I agree the cool nano tank or globe aquarium with few fishies looks great as a decoration, but so does the nice vase or a sculpture, that will be just fine without any maintenance.

To all reviewers saying the filter is good for nothing and that they had the problem with fish dying please note, that this is a 5 gallon NANO tank, so it's not really meant to house the whole schools of fish.

I don't know, what is wrong with all these people reviewing the tanks saying "The tank killed my fish. I did nothing wrong....it was the tank!"...and then you read they have at least 10-15 fish, frogs, etc inside.

The overstocked tank (even the well established one) will hold for a while, but it will eventually crash and develop some bacterial infection, or some other illness leading to the death of the inhabitants.

If you want to have gazillion fish, decorations and plants, please purchase 20 and up gallon tank instead.

These 3,4,5,6 gallon tanks are great, but there's a limited amount of fish you can put in there. Even the small fishies usually need the wider tanks, because of their swimming habits and mainly because they do the best in schools of 4 and more, so once again it will lead to overstocking the tank...

I also feel bad for all goldfish living in the small tanks, swimming frantically in never ending circles like these little insane creatures...

I used to have 95 gallon reef tank and needed to downsize after 8 years, so I aimed for a COOL & ELEGANT looking tank, that could be a part of my house décor. I did not really want the large "riverbed' of fish.

This tank is perfect for Betta (once you adjust the flow), also for those, who want to make these cool looking nano aquascapes and also for tiny reef nano with few shrimps.

The main point of my review is this Ecopico is a GREAT looking hip tank. I'm the second owner and so far there was no leak, no filter problems.

The only thing is, that I had to replace the LED strip after few months, but that's ok since I'm the second owner and the tank is few years old. LEDs are great and last for a long time, but not forever, especially if you like to have the light on the whole day.

I did not purchase the original replacement Ecopico LED strip though. I bought this flexible waterproof LED strip on ebay for $5 and hubby installed it to the original ecopico arm. It works just fine and it's even stronger, that the original one.

My advise to all beginners there is nothing wrong with most of the tanks. Please do not be discouraged by some reviews blaming the tanks for poisoning and such stuff. Unless the tank really has leaking issues or a history of a defective filtration, it should be just fine.

Also please do not expect the more expensive tanks to do the job by themselves you will still need to do your own adjustments and maintenance + RESEARCH. I can only suggest to do a really deep research to decide on what fish you would like to have in your tank beforehand and THEN to buy a tank. Please do not buy the tank first and overstock it later it will eventually lead to a catastrophy and a heartbreak.

Good luck to everyone :-)....and sorry for sounding harsh. I had no intention to attack others, just wanted to clear the waters for those, who are deciding on a purchase of the tank.

CaribSea Midnight Black Floramax Premium Aquarium Substrate

CaribSea Midnight Black Floramax Premium Aquarium SubstrateI don't know what's up with some of the negative reviews, but I absolutely love this substrate! There's better ones our there, such as ADA Amazonia, but they're also much more expensive. With Floramax, IMO, you get a quality substrate which has a high CEC (cationic exchange capacity) which enables this substrate to absorb nutrients from the water (when you dose with ferts, in addition to when your fish poop) and to time release it to the root system of your plants. Plus there's 'some' trace elements already in this substrate (which is essentially a form of lava rock. Floramax and Eco-Complete are essentially the same product. Only real difference is that Eco-Complete comes with that bacteria water which makes the bag heavier, so in essence, you get more substrate by buying floramax because the weight accurately indicates how much substrate you're getting. If you want to really supercharge this substrate, get some Seachem Flourish root tabs and strategically embed them throughout the substrate, depending on how you plan to plant your tank.

Anyway, I totally gutted out my old gravel substrate and replaced it with this. I rinsed the Floramax thoroughly before adding it in. I planted a bunch of stem plants, dwarf hair grass, vals, and hygros and got some great results. Of course I added a co2 injection system, albeit DIY, and dose ferts with my excellent lighting. Look up one of my videos on youtube by searching "Nano Cube 12g FW Planted Update 2012" and you'll see what I mean. Also, I didn't experience any cloudiness. I just followed the instructions and after adding in the substrate and filling my tank with water, I used the enclosed packet of bio-magnet to help remove the fine particles that can be suspended in the water to cause cloudiness.

Hope this helps... I'm convinced this is a good substrate for the value!

I bought this substrate about 3 months ago knowing nothing about it. I had never used a plant substrate before and since it said minimal rinsing may be needed all I did was dump the whole bag in a bucket, added some water, and dumped out the slightly cloudy water. Added it to my tank, filled the tank slowly and turned on my filter. I will admit it was really cloudy...but only for about 45 minutes. I let it sit over night and then added plants and deco.

So far I have not had any problems with it. I have a peacock eel that likes to burrow and it doesn't stir up any "residue" or make the water cloudy.

I'll be buying another few bags off Amazon in the next few week for a new tank.

My advice, if it clouds your water just be patient and let the filter clear it up. A lot of people want it perfectly clear right off the bat so they can add fish and get that going, just relax and let it do its thing.

Buy CaribSea Midnight Black Floramax Premium Aquarium Substrate Now

I bought FloraMax from my local Petsmart, I wanted to set up a 10-gal shrimp aquarium with live plants, using a black plant-growing substrate, and this was the only stuff they had on the shelves that was the right color. I tried to wash it as thoroughly as I could before putting it into the aquarium, but even with pouring bucketfulls of black murky water down the bathroom sink when washing off the substrate, my aquarium still was dark and cloudy for a day before it settled down. Okay, that's kind of expected, so I didn't mind it too much.

After putting the shrimps into the aquarium, I later decided this wasn't a good substrate for a nano shrimp tank (gravel was too big--the gravel pellets were almost as big as they were) and I had a hard time keeping the plants in the gravel, it was ultra hard to plant them because of the large size and light weight of the gravel bits. I emptied out all the shrimps/snails and then took out all the substrate. Immediately the water turned back into a big black murky mess as soon as I started to grab handfuls of the stuff out. I ended up baking all the substrate in the oven to dry it so I could put it into storage, and was astonished by the amount of silt that was still there, even after everything I had done. Discovered that the large-sized pieces of substrate just crumble into smaller pieces if you crush it between your fingers, no wonder I couldn't get the stuff clean.

A better product is Eco-Complete Plant Substrate, put that in my 29-gal a few months ago and couldn't be happier with the way it turned out, no washing required, looks great, and the plants are doing well. Buy it instead of the FloraMax.

*warning: newb w/ aquarium and plants...read following comments accordingly*

Reworked my 3 gallon betta tank today by removing Oscar, all live plants, decorations, and white gravel (the hell was I thinking?) and replacing it with the Floramax substrate. No....I didn't rinse it first. Yes it was very, very dirty/cloudy (couldn't see bottom) but I expected this. I added substrate, plants, then water mixed with the clarifying agent and turned on my bio-sponge filter. It took a total of about 45 minutes of filtration on high to attain a damn near crystal clear tank. Once I checked the temperature and water parameters, I gently added Oscar and his two pet Oto algae eaters. Oscar has been buzzing about, as much as a betta will, checking out his tank and seems relatively content. The two otos have darted around and settled into their manic cleaning mode.

I'll edit this in a few days just to make sure everything shakes out well. So far, very good.

Microbe-Lift TheraP Pathogen Controller

Microbe-Lift TheraP Pathogen Controller, 8.5-OunceI have been using TheraP for around 2 years after discovering it in smaller bottles at a local fish store (with a 75 gallon aquarium, I needed larger bottles and found the 16 oz size online). I use it in conjunction with another great product Special Blend. TheraP does reduce disease outbreaks helping to boost fish immunity. The Microbe-Lift products I use are all CHEMICAL free and 100% safe for my fish when used as directed. You will notice an odor right out of the bottle, but that goes away very quickly once you add it to your aquarium.

I have tried most Microbe-Lift products available for freshwater this is one of the must haves. Since I really liked TheraP and Special blend, I looked up the company online and found other great products they make (check their web site). Most of their products are available through various web sites.

Another plus, is the great customer service this company has. If you have a question about a product, you will get an answer from the company. I am always treated with great respect by their associates.

It is nice to see that both Special Blend and TheraP are available here at Amazon. I have added a bottle to my orders on occasion to bring me to the Free Shipping option (for other products or books I was ordering).

This product is definitely worth it to me. It helps keep the water and my fish healthy for longer time periods than without the product. I can definitely extend the time between filter cleanings.

I use this to put good bacteria into my tank and to avoid water changes. It dissolves harmful bacteria and creates the good kind.

(I let my water sit a few days which takes out the chlorine the natural way before adding it to the tank.) It also seems to be good for the fish and make them happy. Even yellow tubing will turn clear and the water clears up as well. After trying every chemical on the market that instantly killed my fish, this one is a life saver. You can go 4-5 months without water changes with a good filter and this stuff and just adding new water in as it evaporates. So far so good, and it's natural. (Yes it smells like sulfur but your tank doesn't and it will take the fish odor out of the tank.)

From the company's site:

Chemical free

Increases resistance to pathogens and parasites

Establishes and maintains symbiotic microbial populations

Biologically supports a healthy aquarium eco-system which results in a beneficial breeding environment

Stimulates fish's immune system

Promotes fish growth

Improves dissolved oxygen levels

Aids respiration and gas exchange

Oxidizes both ammonia and nitrites. Also reduces nitrates

Beneficial when overpopulation exists

Reduces environmental stress

Digests fish waste

Seeds and helps maintain biological filters

Compatible with most aquarium flora and fauna

Effective over a wide range of pH conditions

Will not significantly alter the mineral balance of the aquarium water

Eliminates noxious odors

Water Lily - Medium White and Green - 8 1/2 in.

Water Lily - Medium White and Green - 8 1/2 in.I bought this for my betta tank, but in pink and a little spikier petals, and it looks very nice! The flower part is right below the surface of the water in my tank, and bettas love to lay on and in things right at the surface, so I find him there in his flower constantly throughout the day resting. It's well made, I like the gravel bowl base a lot, and it's very easy to clean. The plastic isn't rough or hard, so it won't cut your fish's fins. Very happy with this product.

I was expecting it to be a little tall than it is. I think 8.5 inches is rather generous. More like 6. I do like how the leaves are detachable, and I like the gravel tray.

Do wish I could pick my color though, I got pink. I hate pink.

Shipping costs jack this thing up to $10. This things not worth $10.

Super Pet Critter Trail One Level Habitat Complete Kit

Super Pet Critter Trail One Level Habitat Complete KitI really like the cage, the petting station is especially cool. It seems sturdy and the wheel is quiet. It's kind of confusing to put together, but I'm not good at assembly. My daughter loves it, as does her hamster.

I bought this cage at a pet store for $50, amazon has it listed here for 10 dollars less -which is great if you buy it here first :) This little kit has everything a little hamster, mouse, gerbil, etc. would need to start with. I wouldn't recommend more than one little hamster in this cage unless you plan on attaching more right away because it is cute and cozy for one, but too small for any more than that. The best thing about this new design is that when the hamster goes into the viewing section, it cannot flick feces or urine everywhereunlike some every designs. The same thing with the wheel, that is inside the cage and therefore stays much cleaner. The wheel is also safer if you happen to have a teddy bear or long haired hamster there is a wheel design that covers the center. This is a relief since I've had problems with animal injuries related to poor wheel designs. Overall, I would recommend this cage. It is easy to clean and keep clean. The kids love the cage and can watch "Hammy" go from one section to another.

Red Sea Fish Pharm ARER51034 Aquarium CO2 Reactor Pump Plant Care Products, 500-Liter

Red Sea Fish Pharm ARER51034 Aquarium CO2 Reactor Pump Plant Care Products, 500-LiterDon't waster your money. I wanted a better solution to the delicate glass diffuser for my planted aquarium. This isn't the solution. I found it more delicate than the blown glass. It is made of very thin cheap plastic and is poorly designed. It fell apart even before I was able to get it into my tank and after in my tank kept falling apart. The chamber fell off the pump continuously and then the suction cups quit holding and I found it free floating every day until I took it out and stomped on it. I used it for approximately 45 days so that was about $1 a day. Hope someone comes up with a better design.

It doesnt dissolved co2 very well and frequently release large CO2 bubbles in its opening. One can find better CO2 reactor at this price.

BOught it as a replacement for the glass CO2 diffusers, but I'm not very happy. CO2 is 'collected' and then released as large bubbles of CO2. I tried all settings/flow rates, but can't get it right. Uses a lot of CO2 for the same result as the glass diffusers (note. Got a 80 gallon, densely planted fish tank)

At first I thought it doesn't work, I couldn't see any bubbles coming out like from the glass difusers, but dad said that's what it's supposed to do. You can actually see it work, I little whirlpool inside it. We planted the tank yesterday and the reactor isn't there for even 24hrs and is just perfect and all plants are producing lots of oxygen. I hope it will stay as good as we think it is.

I usually don't post reviews but I saw the ones for this product and felt I had to post my thoughts. I own two of these reactors and use them in a 200gal heavy planted community tank. I use a 10 lb. bottle of co2 and ph monitor to control the regulator. I can push about 5 bubbles per second max and the two diffusers eat it up. If you are having problems with yours it because you didn't set it up correctly. Your flow is two high or you got bad gas pressure.

TrueLumen 12-Inch TrueLumen Pro LED Strip Light, Marine Fusion 12K White/Actinic Blue Combo with Ca

TrueLumen 12-Inch TrueLumen Pro LED Strip Light, Marine Fusion 12K White/Actinic Blue Combo with Canopy BracketsI saw these in a pet store when I went to get a few more fish and loved the color of the lights and how great the tanks looked. I had to purchase 2 12" and put them together slightly overlapping in the middle to fit my tank hood as the 24" was 2" too big. They were super easy to setup and I was able to use the hood from the tank kit to hook them up into using the supplied screws and brackets.

The lights barely get hot and are very powerful. I could have gotten away with one but having the two let me get the light to be edge to edge on the tank. They illuminate all the way to the bottom with no problem. I did find that the cables on each could have been a bit longer so I can hide them behind the tank better. They are a little short for my liking. I did have to purchase the splitter to connect the two strips to one power transformer. Although everything I purchased added up quickly and became expensive, I have already noticed a huge difference in the overall quality of my tank. ( i have uploaded photos and descriptions).

I'm very happy with these LED strip lights and hope that they last as long as they claim. The startup costs are a little high but you will be very happy with the lighting!

This light is amazing. At first I didn't think I was going to like it but after about 10 min. I was wrong. I have this on my 10gal nano reef. I have a Duncan coral that was just a little frag when I got this light but now is growing more heads and is very large. I am thinking of buying one more light. I would recommend this light to everyone. Well built very bright.

Eheim Pro 3 Aquarium Filter Model 2073

Eheim Pro 3 Aquarium Filter Model 2073I bought the Pro 3 2075 brand new in Sept 2012 that came with a 3 year warranty. The filter leaked after 2 years destroying my $350 wooden stand. Water leaked out near the power cord. After searching the net I found out that this was a common issue among Pro 3 filters made before Aug 2010. There have also been countless reports of Eheim's Customer Support department ignoring customer emails when contacted for warranty claims.

I emailed them and immediately the next day I received a reply asking for the Serial number, the shipping address and the retail store from which I bought the filter. I replied with the information and that was the last I heard from them. I have sent them 4 more emails since then and they completely ignored them. I have been another victim of their scam.

Apparently Eheim is engaging in fraudulent acitivities, marketing their filters as "Premium" products that come with a 3 year warranty. However, they will try their best NOT to honor the warranty. Maybe I need to call them everyday and write nasty letters to get them to acknowledge my issue. I know some of their victims have received a replacement head unit this way after sending threatening emails and making repeated phone calls. However, it shouldn't have to be this difficult.

I have another Pro 2 filter that also leaked after 6 years of operation. From what I have heard, the company was bought and the quality of customer service has become horrible since then. It is now reaching the point of fraud.

I will never buy another Eheim product again. Beware!!!

Works great on my wife's Goldfish Tank (There are dirty little bugers)

Once I got the Hang of the start up feature (push the button and it sucks water into the filter) for start up with little cavitation.

Fairly easy to clean and lots of space for bio or chem media

I have it over 9 months now and working like a charm

I've owned two eheim canister filters the most recent being the Pro3. Both were disappointing! While they do have lots of room for media when they work they work well. The problem is that they are difficult to prime and in my experience they were nothing but a problem. Both units failed to maintain flow. The unit would be operating normally producing a good steady flow. I would come back a few hours later and it would be coming out in a trickle. I would reset and again it would produce a nice flow. Few hours later a trickle. I contacted tech support requesting assistance in trouble shooting the problem...no response after several attempts. I'm done. I'm done with eheim! I'll never buy one again.

I've had this filter for over a year. Recently had a problem where I could not get the nozzles to eject from the motor head. This was very frustrating I had moved the lever to the release position, pushed on the red button, and the nozzles would not pop off. I eventually tore the entire filtering system out of the tank and brought the whole set up to the sink to take a closer look at the problem. After a frustrating couple of days, I did find an Eheim sales rep and she told me that when reinserting the nozzle fixture back into the motor, the lever on the motor needs to be totally in the release position (not half way, not partial way). If the lever is not entirely in the release position, pushing the nozzle fixture into the motor will cause misloading and you will never be able to get the nozzles out of the motor again. End of story need to get an entirely new motor head! I looked on the Eheim site and never saw any reference to this problem. Anyway, just a fyi. I got my motor replaced for no charge and now I am very careful when inserting the nozzles back into the motor. Don't rush and make the same mistake I did. Other than this problem, I love this canister filter. It is my first and I hope the last filter I will ever need. Filtration is fantastic, prefilter works great, and I can get this thing cleaned out and attached back to the tank with little effort and no mess.

American Marine Selcon Vitamin Supplement - 60 mL / 2 oz

American Marine Selcon Vitamin Supplement - 60 mL / 2 ozThere's a reason why Selcon is the most widely used vitamin in marine tanks it just works. Like others, I soak food in Selcon before adding it to the tank, and have noticed that the fish look better since starting them on it. A great bang for your buck would be to soak NLS pellets in this before feeding your fish, too.

I purchased this on the recomendation of a reef club member..

I use this and garlic extreme to soak my pellets and frozen food in. I put 1cc of this (it has a measured dropped and 3-5 drops of garlic extreme, then let the food soak for a couple of minutes. Fish love it and it helps with my filter feeders and nps. I will buy it again.

Great nutrition, easy to feed. I have always used second to supplement my frozen food, and I believe my fish and corals are healthier and happier.

We started using this to add vitamins to our sick fish. That turned into adding it to all foods going in the tank. I believe beyond a doubt that is has improved the health and color of our fish. I will continue using this product as long as we have fish in our house.

Great nutrition for your fish. My maroon clowns are actually starting to get a bit of yellow in their stripes! Only drawback is that this stuff smells AWFUL, and is pretty expensive. However, you only need about 1 mL of it to prepare food for about a week.

Safety Siphon - Safe Multi-Purpose Self Priming Pump

Safety Siphon - Safe Multi-Purpose Self Priming PumpThis video review was made by my husband.

He purchased this on Amazon and is very easy to use and fast.

He made this video review because there is too many people who say they cant get it to work, and its just too simple!

This, at its most basic, is a foot valve at the end of a hose. How it works:

1. The foot valve prevents liquid in the hose from flowing out that end.

2. Each time you push the end with the valve down into liquid, more liquid enters the hose but cannot flow back out.

3. When enough liquid has entered the hose and the top of the liquid in the hose is below the valve (the end in the liquid) gravity takes over and your liquid will flow into the an empty container which is at a lower level than the full container.

The proper technique then is not to "shake" the end in the liquid but to push it down into the liquid so that each time it goes into the liquid, more enters the hose.

The foot valve does not form a perfect seal when you pull the end out of the liquid, so a little will flow back out. The key then is to push it down and pull it out fairly rapidly.

Used correctly, this is a brilliant product which I have used frequently over the past 2 years and which my mechanic had previously recommended to me. And it is even cheaper now than when I bought it. The instructions suck though.

I haven't used this yet in a "real" situation (i.e. siphoning gas from a neighbor's car). But I did try siphoning water from my sink to my bathtub.

As others have noted, it was tricky to get this siphon to work especially in shallow liquid. But after a little practice, suddenly it worked pretty well.

I found it worked best when I moved the hose really straight in an up/down motion as opposed to just shaking it hopefully.

I think the good thing about this siphon is its overall simplicity. It's basically a hose, making it pretty durable and also easy to clean.

The downside is that the ball bearing inside doesn't create a great seal. Hence if you stop shaking the hose, the fluid will flow back into the source tank pretty quickly.

I was looking for more information before purchasing this product, but never found the description I needed. In case someone else wants it, the tubing is 6 feet long which seems to be enough for what I will want. It also says it can be attached to a garden hose with a 1/2" adapter. The tubing has an inside diameter of about 1/2", and the packaging claims it will siphon up to 3 1/2 gallons a minute. It says it can siphon gas, diesel and kerosene as well as water or oil and should be cleaned thoroughly before storage. Even after cleaning, I would get separate siphons before using the same one for different uses.

I hesitated to buy this, my experience with gimmick items tends to be negative.

This safety siphon really gets the job done. I do a lot of 4Wheeling and often have to use 2 5 gallon Jerry Cans of extra fuel in my outings. The new models with the Carb approved spout are extremely slow to pour out the gas, and they also tend to spill when you angle it to empty out the fuel. Plus it was painful to have to carry these things as they slowly poured out. I really needed a solution, and not one that involved changing neoprene gaskets every few weeks.

Enter safety siphon. I saw the videos of it working, but still was hesitant, but I figured anything is better than having to do this gassing up by hand. So, I took the plunge, when I got it, I practiced emptying out my bathroom sink with it into my bathtub. Had somewhat of a hard time getting it to work. After playing with it, I realized what I was doing wrong. Because it was shallow, it was harder to begin with, but I was stopping too early before I hear a continuous "clicking" sound from the ball inside the priming pump moving up and down on its own. Second, I had the hose too high to allow the flow to reach to the downward part of the hose so that when gravity pulled it down, it would start the vacuuming process.

So, I repositioned the hose to have a more downward decline to it, and I started shaking it up again. I immediately see the water starting to flow through the hose, it got some air in there, but I keep shaking it, and then I started to hear rapid clicking from the inside ball once the water in the hose had reached the downward slope, and it started flowing out of there pretty fast.

The neat thing is, it is a vacuum at that point, and you can suck out all the liquid with it all the way until it is empty and you hear what sounds like someone finishing up the last bit of a soft drink with a straw.

Later I got to test it on my jerry cans, boy was it a lot easier to dump out the fuel on these. It took me less than 2 minutes to empty each 5 gallon can. I am very happy with this product, no spills, no having to lift the heavy cans and hold them there for the roughly 5 minutes it would take to empty one out. I highly recommend it, and don't get frustrated during the learning process. I almost did!

biOrb Easy Plant - 2 Pack Large

biOrb Easy Plant - 2 Pack LargeI love this brand and type of plant for my aquarium. Our local pet store only carries the small and medium, so when I found the large online I ordered immediatly. They are the best and I will continue to purchase this brand.

However, with in 2 hrs of having the plants in the tank our pleco became entangled in the grass like plant (it is made poorly and left with jagged edges) and cut up his fins very badly. The wider leaf plant is perfect though.

They were a little bigger than I had anticipated but can be cut down to proper size, which I'm fine with.

To me, they looked like they were supposed to be a neon green, which was what I was looking for. They turned out a typical green color.

Other than color, they're nice.

I put them in my regular (not biOrb) 30 gal tank and they look beautiful against my white gravel and blue background. They are definitely brighter than regular plastic plants. The heavy weights at the bottom are an amazing innovation, just dropped them in and nothing floats back up! But I still had to get into the water to cover them with the gravel though. They are long enough to reach almost top of the water, my tank is about 20 inches in height. Absolutely recommend it to anyone.

Having gone thru a ton of different plants. I think I like this base the best. Just right. The plastic ones come apart, the stone bases which cost ALOT more haven't held up either.. and are too big to keep hid. I think these are going to work. Like the smaller size for hiding. And the price is dropping. What's not to like ???

Want biOrb Easy Plant - 2 Pack Large Discount?

One plant has long, skinny leaves that resemble long grass.

One plant has long, broader leaves that are about 3/4" wide.

These plants are long enough to go all the way to the top of the BiUbe, slightly poking out of the water.

It really looks nice to include one set of Large plants in the BiUbe along with smaller plants.

I placed the plant that resembles grass underneath the feeding hole.

When I drop floating food pellets in the feeding hole, they stick to the grass and my fish seem to enjoy eating the pellets off the grass...but who knows?...
