PondCare Spring and Autumn Pellet Fish Food, 9 Ounce

PondCare Spring and Autumn Pellet Fish Food, 9 OunceThe goldfish in our pond like this food, although in comparison they go CRAZY for the summer version -PondCare 181B Summer Staple Koi Fish Food Premium Pellet, 41-Ounce -which I give them when the water's warmer. Read tje instructions on the bag to see when to feed each pellet type. Previous years we used a regular goldfish flake food, and always had algae problems (it never occurred to me there might be a different food for pond fish versus aquarium fish). I'm not sure if this food is what's helped so much this year, but we now have a crystal clear pond and apparently super happy fish. I know they're happy, because this year I could actually see them swimming!

Drum Fish Bowl, 1/2 Gal

Drum Fish Bowl, 1/2 GalA couple months ago I bought a 1 gallon delux starter kit for my friend's son's birthday and I must say I was very impressed with the quality of the plastic fishbowl. It is extremely durable and will not break when dropped or knocked over which makes it MUCH safer than glass (especially for a rambunctious 6 year old boy). Since I know absolutely nothing about goldfish the kit was super helpful because it included everything that was needed. It contained a silk-like decorative plant, gravel, goldfish food, chlorine neutralizer, a fish net and set-up instructions. I also purchased an adorable "fishing boy" top ornament which easily attached to the bowl's rim with velcro. Overall I give this product 5 out of 5 stars for it's outstanding durability and fool-proof set up instructions. My friend's son LOVED this gift and has been enjoying his new pet goldfish "Ralphy" for 4 months now. =)

I would drop a couple stars if I had to pay $8.73 (current price as I write and what Kay paid). I can't image wanting to put an actual fish in this cheap thing. Like Zthmpsn, I bought it to collect business cards. It's nice (but not great), not dark like in the main photo, and not too big. So, I've found it useful.

This was overpriced for the quality of plastic used in this fishbowl. I'd return it if I didn't need to use it so soon. Very disappointed.

Purchased a couple of these fishbowls for the office. Used them at tradeshows that did not have lead retrieval, so we put business cards in there and when it was time for the raffle, picked the card from the fishbowl.

General Cage-Dog Crate Divider Panel

Divider Panel for 204, 336, 404 General Premium Crates, 23.5' x 24.25', Black FinishThis divider has three spring-loaded clips making it very easy to attach but allowing it to hold quite nicely. Feels solid and has a nice finish. My only really minimal gripe is that it is available only in black whereas the crates are also available in white or gold.

Tuffy's Junior Bone Dog Toy

Tuffy's Junior Bone Dog Toy, Blue CamoFell apart in less than one month of use by my dogs.

Very disappointing

Would not recommend it to anyone.

I have bought other Tuffy's with no issue. This one is not a quality toy.

Update

Amazon replaced the toy. Thanks Amazon.

However, they toy fell apart this time within 48 hours of use by the dogs.

Now my dogs are not huge nor vicious. They are rat terriers and a toy should

last longer than one or two days.

Advice don't buy.

Most reviews for this toy have been dogs destroying this within a day or 2. This toy IS rated for dogs under 20 lb. And the 15 pound beagle is of course stronger than my dog. If your dog has a destructive nature, sure, it can be torn up. But if you have a calmer dog with non destructive tendancies, this is perfect for you. My dog is a 3 year old bichon. He weighs 9 pounds. He is super destructive on wal mart's cheap toys. And you think something won't get ripped to shreds and he can destroy it. But with this very bone, I got it for him in December and this is March 30th. He chews on it and plays with it every day and the black seams around the edges are still tight and not fraying in the least. I cut the little black string off of it before I gave it to him. The string isn't there for the dog to chew on. Someone said their dog bit it of and swallowed it. DON'T leave it on there. Duh. Don't let the other reviews make you not want this. It should say 10lb and under and not 20 but you know your dogs disposition so just use your best judge of character.

Buy Tuffy's Junior Bone Dog Toy Now

We originally bought a Tuffy's Ultimate Bone toy, which is durably made, but it was too big for our beagle so we thought we'd give the Junior Bone a try.

The Junior Bone is an "8" on Tuffy's scale, but there's a big difference between its durability and the Ultimate Bone's "9:" Within minutes of getting the toy, she ripped the loop off the end and swallowed it, and a 1/2 hour later she's ripped open the stitching and is tearing it apart.

I don't recommend this toy because of the durability issues; but even if held up, the squeaker takes quite a bit of force to activate, which makes it less appealing.

Read Best Reviews of Tuffy's Junior Bone Dog Toy Here

My dog tore though this thing in about 15 minutes. He is not a big dog either, just a little 15 pound dog. I was very disappointed to see this thing not make it past a day.

Want Tuffy's Junior Bone Dog Toy Discount?

I have a Corgi. He's a bit over 20lbs.

He likes to chew.

We haven't had much luck with toys before this one. Sure, some Costco toys were great: they were snakes with ropes inside but he was easily able to take out the squeaker and rattler. Which he promptly did.

This toy gives him no easy access to the squeaker, and feels extremely sturdy. There's no easy ripping and tearing on this toy.

Aquatic Fundamentals 75/90 Gallon Upright Aquarium Stand

Aquatic Fundamentals 75/90 Gallon Upright Aquarium StandLike the title just stop. You do not have to think about this one any more just get it. The stand looks great. It was super easy to assemble (25) twenty five minutes tops. My tank was up and running in less then (45) minutes. The water proof coating absolutly great the water just bounces right off this is not your tipical coating that will wear off it will last a life time. Just get it.

From Howard Beach Queens

Joey

I had a tough time finding an aquarium stand that would fit a more modern home. Most of the items readily available are much more traditional and would have looked out of place in our house.

Although this stand is anything but fancy, it certainly is minimalistic enough to not stand out in a negative way.

The stand is delivered disassembled in a flat box. I found the instructions to be straight-forward and logical. Assembling the piece was a breeze.

One of my concerns was whether this stand would truly be sturdy enough to hold a 90 gallon tank with decorations and everything else added. Once I had the stand at home, my doubts were quickly quieted. The stand is rather substantial and heavy.

You should note that the back is open there is space for three panels to be inserted but for easy of access, the design only requires the center panel as a support column. To the left and right of the center panel, the stand is completely open.

The two doors have magnetic holders that you push in order to release the doors. Thus far, I have had no problems with the mechanism it holds the door even if I just stuff items inside that end up resting against the door.

Since my stand sits on hardwood floors, I attached quite a few felt disks to the bottom of it around twenty or so. I was a bit worried how the stand would deal with it, but again, have not noticed any problems.

Overall, I am very happy with the purchase especially for the price!

Relatively easy to put together with a nice coated finish. Fits nicely with modern decor. Room for storage and sump.

This stand is HEAVY (therefore very sturdy). I like the clean lines and the matte black finish. It blends well with our decor. The magnetic click doors work well. It is large enought to hold a big canister filter. The powder coating also makes it more resistent to water damage. My one wish is that it would include the option of adding a small shelf inside the stand on each end. It would be helpful for storing smaller items like chemicals.

TrueLumen 12-Inch TrueLumen Pro LED Strip Light, Marine Fusion 12K White/Actinic Blue Combo with Ca

TrueLumen 12-Inch TrueLumen Pro LED Strip Light, Marine Fusion 12K White/Actinic Blue Combo with Canopy BracketsI saw these in a pet store when I went to get a few more fish and loved the color of the lights and how great the tanks looked. I had to purchase 2 12" and put them together slightly overlapping in the middle to fit my tank hood as the 24" was 2" too big. They were super easy to setup and I was able to use the hood from the tank kit to hook them up into using the supplied screws and brackets.

The lights barely get hot and are very powerful. I could have gotten away with one but having the two let me get the light to be edge to edge on the tank. They illuminate all the way to the bottom with no problem. I did find that the cables on each could have been a bit longer so I can hide them behind the tank better. They are a little short for my liking. I did have to purchase the splitter to connect the two strips to one power transformer. Although everything I purchased added up quickly and became expensive, I have already noticed a huge difference in the overall quality of my tank. ( i have uploaded photos and descriptions).

I'm very happy with these LED strip lights and hope that they last as long as they claim. The startup costs are a little high but you will be very happy with the lighting!

This light is amazing. At first I didn't think I was going to like it but after about 10 min. I was wrong. I have this on my 10gal nano reef. I have a Duncan coral that was just a little frag when I got this light but now is growing more heads and is very large. I am thinking of buying one more light. I would recommend this light to everyone. Well built very bright.

Marina Vibrascaper Hornwort Plant

Hagen Vibrascaper Hornwort, 8-InchEver since I installed my new Baby Blue Five Inch Hagen Vibrascaper Hornwort, my fish have stopped trying to escape.

I have to say I was a little disappointed when I received this plant for my tank. It says the color of it is Baby Blue, yet the one that came is clearly purple. My tank is all blue, green and teal so this doesn't go at all with my decor. Overall the plant is nice and it goes good in my daughters tank but they should not say it is Baby Blue if they are going to ship out Purple ones!!!!

Pump and Filtration Assembly for Eclipse 3 and Hex 5

Pump and Filtration Assembly for Eclipse 3 and Hex 5I bought this when the motor burned out on my Eclipse 3 fish tank. It was several years old, so its demise was not surprising.

As another reviewer noted, this is only the motor and housing, and does not include the impeller, so you'll want to make sure to disassemble the old unit and keep your old impeller. Also be sure to transfer the bearings for the bio wheel to the new unit or it may not rotate properly.

If the motor is burned out, buying this WILL fix your problem. It's a heckuva lot cheaper and easier than buying a whole new aquarium!

One last note, if your motor burned out because you had something blocking the intake, you'll want to remove whatever was obstructing the intake, or the problem will recur and you'll be be buying more motors. Eclipse motors quickly burn out against the resistance of sponges or even nylons over the intake hose. They need an unobstructed flow to work properly.

I would not recommend purchasing this product. It is missing the intake tube necessary for running it, and the old intake tube doesn't fit in the hole. When I looked inside where the intake tube is suppose to fit into, the little part that turns around isn't there either. Very disappointing!

Purchased this pump as a replacement and it works great. One issue though, the little bio-wheel (not included) is supposed to spin as the water cascades over it --but it doesn't. Basically, the pump/housing doesn't accomodate our older bio-wheel so that it can spin freely.

PondCare 140D Stress Coat, 64-Ounce

PondCare 140D Stress Coat, 64-OunceWhen we first built our pond, we were noticing our fish getting sores on their bodies. Several fish ended up dying. Stress Coat was recommended and I have been very pleased with the results. Every time I add water to the pond I add some Stress Coat according to package directions. I really notice the improved health with my fish. I only need to use Algae Fix and Stress Coat in the pond to keep it clean and clear. Both must be working since my fish seem to be thriving.

we have tried several products and this is the best product if you have koi and goldfish and a large load of fich in your pond. We keep getting baby gold fish so the product must be keeping our fish stress free. LOL

AquaCustom 50 Gallon Shadow Box Aquarium

AquaCustom 50 Gallon Shadow Box AquariumThis is the same setup as the more expensive one offered see my complete review there. Delivered fom Apliance connection where I purchased it less than a week I was amazed. Save the money order here. Only difference I know of is its not coming from the manufacturer andbto be honest I have aquariums I have purchased from midwest-tropical and it took three times as long to receive. Buy a instock item from a out side company u will get it faster.

Ok so I purchased one of these tanks about about a month ago. The unit is completely constructed from acrylic. The tank is built in to the unit and can not be removed.

PROS extremely light I'd say hole unit is around sixty to seventy pounds.

Well constructed I have no fears of leakage

I had some reservations about ordering a tank so large and having it arive unscathed the unit came incased in a wooden shell and then spray foam was used to protect the tank. The unit could have fallen of the truck and Ben dragged down the street and would have made it out okay.

All descriptions I read on this tank and none really mentioned the components. I comes with a large multi stage filter with removable media trays. A nice air pump with a flow adjustment. A heater but to be honest I'd use the supplied heater for a twenty gallon tank not a fifty.under gravel filter with lift tube. The tank is plumbed with the drain/ pump intake in the center and the water out on the right corner. I will have to say I like the way they installed a tube on inside that brings water from the return side of the pump to the top and has a angled neck so as to eliminate the need for any hoses being run out side of the tank.

Plenty of plastic plants and more than enough of that small river stone substrate.

Not a bad lighting system dual bulb t5 I think not enouf for plants but okay for this setup. Very soft lines and bends no sharp edges light is mounted to top panel and when shut nothing is exposed.

Cons I am around five ten and standing on a step ladder I can not reach through the access panel in the top and reach the bottom very close but not quite. If substrate is added I might. I would like the tank to be removable. The filter is very tall and is difficult to install I purchased a 45 degree elbow because the hose kept bending and restricted water flow. Hoses are black I'd prefer clear so u can see how dirty they are. Under gravel filters with lift tubes are in my opinion useless. U have a pump sucking the water down from the bottom. Buy a decorative air stone and use that.

No cleaning tools i have purchased aquariums from this company before and always come with cleaning tools and net. The access panel on top could be larger.

This thing looks great and is constructed well bit expensive considering u shoud still buy a heater and any extra decor and fish your talking a couple hundred more.

Lee's Ultimate GravelVac Cleaning Claw

Lee's Ultimate GravelVac Cleaning ClawI'm so glad they make these spare parts. After years of use the teeth were slowly breaking off of my old attachment, but the rest of my GravelVac was still in great condition. It is nice not to have to buy a whole new GravelVac (which is all I could find in local stores) just because one attachment has had too much wear and tear.

I ordered this piece to replace one that had come with my 25' water changer it somehow got lost and I sure didn't want to spend another $40 to replace the whole system. It's sturdy, fits the vacuum tube just right, and everything works properly. Thumbs up.

Buy Lee's Ultimate GravelVac Cleaning Claw Now

I've always used a nylon stocking to cover the intake of my Python brand gravel vacuum/water changer when I wasn't using it to vacuum and wanted to keep fish from getting sucked in while changing the water. The nylon is drippy after, and it doesn't look professional (I clean tanks.) While this Lee's Cleaning Claw doesn't keep small fry from getting in like the nylon stocking, it does keep regular fish from getting in and looks more professional. It also aerates the returning water a bit more when refilling the tank.

As a gravel cleaning attachment, I don't get good results with either a deep bed of Flourish or a thin bed of regular gravel, so I continue to use the tube uncovered. However, I could see that it would be a good implement for poking around the deep recesses of a heavily-planted aquarium to just get the mulm on the surface of the substrate without accidentally sucking up an unseen fish.

Considering this purchase was for my turtles in their 300 gallon habitat, I did not want to skimp on their heating requirements.

After a rigorous online search, I concluded I'd try this heater out and I'm glad I did! Fully submersible and very easy to operate. It has an analog dial to help you adjust the temperature with two LED's. One LED indicates that it's powered on. The other LED is to let you know when the heater element is doing it's job; when the desired temp has been reached the heater element will shut off. It has three cords coming out of the analog control dial. One cord is the submersible heating unit itself, which you simply place (laying down) in your tank. Another cord is to plug into the wall. The third cord is an external thermometer (no digital or analog reading on it though) to gauge the temperature of the water. Using very cold tap water from the garden hose outside, I filled up my turtles habitat. It took approximately 20 hours to heat up 300 gallons.

It has kept their habit warm since. In fact I've had to turn it down a few notches. Of course there are a few factors/variables that will alter how effectively the heater works (the amount of water you're trying to heat, the outside temperature of your aquarium, etc.)

Overall I'm very happy with this purchase. In fact I just placed an order online for a second unit. That's one thing I'm not too happy about though (but didn't count it against the product rating); was the fact that I can't find this product in Canada. I always have to search for it online. I was using a cheaper aquarium heater to heat up my turtles feeding tank (which is another tank altogether), whose brand name I will not repeat but if you send me a private message and want to know (so you don't make the mistake of buying that cheaper one), I'd be more than happy to share that information with you. But after two days I took it back to the store where I bought it from.

Funny but the more expensive aquarium heater which I purchased online and had more to lose (in return shipping charges) if it was defective or not working the way I wanted it to, worked perfectly whereas the safer bet (the local store bought one) ended up costing me more gas in having to return it. Oh well, just goes to show : there are no safe bets.

Split Shipwreck - Small - 6 1/2 in. x 6 1/2 in. x 3 in.

Split Shipwreck - Small - 6 1/2 in. x 6 1/2 in. x 3 in.In one of several aquariums I maintain in my home, I went with a shipwreck theme when choosing decor. This shipwreck is a lovely addition, taking a place front and center in the layout.

Because it is relatively low-lying, it doesn't block your view of fish and plants further back in the tank. At the same time, it provides a nice background for fishing swimming up front. And there are small spaces that give the tinier fish places to hide.

Decorating an aquarium is mostly about individual taste, so this won't mean much to people who're going with another theme. Still, shipwreck buffs will find this a good piece to bring home to your favorite piscine environment.

TOM TM1255 Aquarium Replacement Lamp Fits #1258, 9W 6400K Daylight

TOM TM1255 Aquarium Replacement Lamp Fits #1258, 9W 6400K DaylightThe original bulb for this set up included a gray hood to direct light towards the aquarium and prevent light from blinding you at eye level. Unfortunately, this is not so in the replacement bulb, which has a white hood and is not thick enough to block sufficient light. I attempted to take the old hood and put it on the new light but it is nearly permanently attached and requires you to break some of the permanent plastic fasteners to separate the hood and bulb. Overall, it was a bad design from the start.

I bought the 9w kit and it worked great for a month. Now I have to order another light bulb and who knows how long this will last. What's cheap is expensive I guess.

Como Black 48" Length Soft Flexible Rubber Hose Air Curtain Bubble for Aquarium

Como Black 48' Length Soft Flexible Rubber Hose Air Curtain Bubble for Aquariumbut don't use it often because I also have a smaller air stone and my fish prefer that because all the bubbles created by the bubble wand creates too much movement for them. I only use it for circulation of waste when cleaning my tank along with a vacuum. ( My way of cleaning my tank but it works for me. ) It does look nice if you have fish that like the circulation it creates. Very flexible and it sinks on its own without suction cups but I don't know if its supposed to come with an end cap but mine didn't. Luckily I had extras lying around, other than that it's a very nice product.

API Stress Zyme, 16-Ounce

API Stress Zyme, 16-OunceI use this product regularly in 2 freshwater aquariums. This is a busy household and we don't do as many water changes as we should. So I keep both an under gravel and an over the tank filter and use stress zyme every other week or so. One of the tanks has fancy goldfish, and one goldfish has grown to carp size and he eats a lot and messes a lot. There is a more delicate fish in the goldfish tank that starts to suffer when I need to add stress zyme, long before the tank actually looks dirty. Once I add the stress zyme he perks right up. The second tank is bala sharks with a red tail and an angel. This tank seems healthy, but I throw in some stress zyme when I do the other tank because its a huge tank and its hard to vacuum. And the tanks stay nice with only about 6 water changes per year. We change the filters at about the same rate, but need to add tap water every week (the tanks are great humidifiers, they never get moldy like a real humidifier does!) Anyway, I recommend this product to anyone with a fish tank but no time or desire to do weekly water changes.

If you are encountering issues with managing turtle waste, this is a great addition to a canister filter. I have a turtle in a 45-gallon tank with a Rena FilstarXP2. Turtle waste still floated to the top and became a major hassle to clean. The problem became worse and I was concerned for my turtle who sleeps on a underwater dock near the surface. After visiting the Rena site, it directed me to#Performance. It suggested this bacteria supplement. Since using it, the water became clear again and no waste floated at the top. I have no need to clean the tank except for changing half of the water half-way through the month and a full change at the end of the month. And Steve is happy to swim to the surface again!

Cascade® 1000 Canister Filter for up to 100 Gallon Aquariums, 265gph

CascadeĀ® 1000 Canister Filter for up to 100 Gallon Aquariums, 265gphAs an fish tank owner for over 15 years, I'd always had the big old Penguin on the back of the tank. Reliable. Sometimes noisy. But it got the job done.

Recently the Penguin gave up the ghost. I decided to upgrade. I could not be happier. I am wondering why I didn't do it sooner. (And so are my fish.)

I'd read several people say it was hard to hook up. I didn't have that experience. The tubes went on with a little muscle, and I guess if you're a 90 pound gal, it might offer some resistance. Another review said he got different tubes instead of the ones that came with the unit. I don't see a need to do that. They're stiff, but more than get the job done. Another note, mine came with the filter media pre-loaded. I had to take the carbon mesh bag out of the plastic it came in. I bought media for it with the "buy this with this" option. Now I have media for when I need it. The priming of the pump was not the "press it four times and it will fill in a minute" the instructions said. However, I just repeated the steps they list, and it was up and running in no time.

That said, I put this on a 55 gallon tank. I have never had cleaner or clearer water in my tank. I just stand and stare at it in happy disbelief. It does seem to have a LOT of muscle for a tank that size, but again, it's doing an awesome job. The fish were a little concerned at first, but by the next morning were doing their thing as always.

I really like the profile of the top of my tank now. My aquarium sits on a stand. The filter went inside and I shut the door. There's no boxy black thing sticking out of the top. It looks great.

Also. This thing is whisper quiet.

What had kept me out of the canister market had been the price. A lot of the guys are $200-300. The price on this one is stellar. Considering I've got over $400 of fish in my tank, worth every penny.

Do I love this filter? Love's a strong word, but as far as inanimate objects go, I got a serious Jones for this one.

ok so this pump bucket...is about 1.6 galons comes with 3 trays in it. you can load them with whatever you see fit to run whatever type of tank you want however they do come with the filter media you need...so you wont have to go out and buy some.

i own two. both 1000 due to the fact that i didnt hear very good things about the larger models and because i run a 75 saltwater with fish inverts and loads of live rock.

ive had one for 6 months now and i liked it so much and i liked the PRICE so much i decided to buy another one of the same type.

i dont use the rubber hoses and fittings they come with altho they are great. i actually did some diy plumming and have them both hooked togheder on the intake but sparate utputs.

water flow is good they are very quiet and if you plan on running them in a cabinet you wont hear them run at all.

the disconect feature is great but sometimes when i unhook the pump i spill a bit of water. not from the intake or output hoses...its the water thats left in the canister...but its only id say about as much as you can fit in a tablespoon.

as far as priming goes...you hook up the hoses...you pump the top button hard about 5 times and then by suction it will get its own airbubbles out.

NOTE at first it will blow bubbles untill it fills itself with water but this is for less than a few seconds. after 3 minutes if you still see slight bubbles coming out that means you didnt set up the hoses right and you might have an air leak but thats not the pumps fault.

once properly set this will be the last of your worries especially when it comes to maintenance.

if you buy this pump you wont regret it.

Buy Cascade® 1000 Canister Filter for up to 100 Gallon Aquariums, 265gph Now

After about a year of struggling with this filter I finally have replaced it... I just gave up.

I have a 75 gallon tank for my Red Eared Slider and I need a filter that pumps a lot of water and can deal with the filth level of a turtle. My past canister filters were about half the size and price of the Pen Plax, so I figured pumping a couple extra bucks into the filter could only improve my experience. From the first minute, I discovered that wasn't the case. Previously I had dueling Fluval canister filters that worked great in concert, they had a lot of parts but they were easy to clean and once you remembered which piece went back inside the canister when, it was very easy to deal with. Even when it was totally filthy, I could completely clean each filter in about half an hour.

The Pen Plax, while having fewer parts, did not come with an instruction manual. (!!!!) I scoured the web and after navigating through Pen Plax's website was able to get some instructions that helped, although not as much as I would have expected. When I first assembled the filter and set it up for operation, the filter didn't work. I spent about thirty minutes constantly priming the lines until FINALLY, painfully... the filter began to work.

Once it needed cleaning, I discovered that the main operating portion of the filter cannot be dissassembled for cleaning. With my previous filters I realized that I needed to thoroughly clean EVERY part of the filter due to the amount of filth my turtle created constantly, and since the

motor andpumping parts of the Pen Plax are sealed, you cannot get inside to clean out any residual waste matter or algae or whatever else happens to build up inside there... meaning that even once I'd cleaned the filter the best I could, it would never really be clean. (I suppose I could have taken the time to use bleach, but I've always been afraid to use any solvents for fear some residual might work it's way into my turtle's habitat.)

Each time the filter was cleaned it required at minimum ten minutes of priming to get the filter operating. Unlike my Fluval filters, the Pen Plax carbon filtration media came in it's own sealed pouch, which could not be opened to replace with fresh carbon... so you need to buy a replacement pouch each time you want to change out the carbon. Awfully inconvenient.

My Fluval canister filters worked for abour three years apiece before they started to have performance issues... the Pen Plax didn't quite last a year.

I imagine that a fish tank may not have some of the same issues I have had with my turtle tank, but I felt like sharing my experience for other turtle owners out there.

My Mr. Snappers (a medium sized turtle) loves his 55 gallon tank! I purchased the 1000 and the filter has kept the water crystal clear since day 1. I have yet to clean the filter, except for the recommended 2 week carbon cleaning. The filter was very easy to put together, but make sure you read the directions for priming, because that gets a little tricky if you don't know what you are doing.

Definately a great filter for the price!!! Very satisfied!

I have owned two other higher priced filter systems in the past. They had seals and pumps that wore out quickly, and, when I tried to get the parts it was a nightmare extreme. I eventually threw them in the dumpster. I have not had to replace the pump or seals yet. I have owned this Cascade 1000 for about a year. The proceedure for priming after cleaning is open the exhaust first, plug in the motor, turn on the inlet, prime with the button until it runs clear ( about five pumps), and it is running smooth and without a sound. If you put your ear close you hear it run, but otherwise, more quite than any pump system I have owned. I use mine for a 30 gallon freshwater tank with a 3" cat, a 6" paleocostamus, and a 5" three spot ciclid. Once the tank righted itself, I have only changed the medium twice and one change of charcoal. The tank is crystal clear all the time for just over a year. This filter is fantastic so far. Try it you'll like it. THE PRICE IS RIGHT.

Aug. 12 2011, I have used this filtration system for a while now. I still believe it is the best, most cost effective I have ever had. I have had fresh water tanks for about 50 years now. The motor and pump are still very very quiet. I am most pleased.
