I'm not sure why I was thinking that this was going to be a thermometer that was to be placed on the INSIDE of the aquarium. It's basically like a sticker that detects temperature change. Had I actually taken the time to read the product description on this thermometer, I probably wouldn't have spent the $6.50. Although I did receive free 2-day shipping... I probably wouldn't have paid more than $3.50 at a Pet Store or something. The choice is yours.

It does its job for a month, then should be replaced of left inside a couple extra months if you have room for more bio filter.
The volcano itself looks great and when the lights and bubbles are coming out the top it becomes a great focal point in an aquarium. The problem I ran into was after about 2 weeks in the tank, the LED lights began to dull pretty bad. The first few days the LEDs would light up the tank at night and add some additional light to the room. After the second week, you couldn't even tell that there were lights inside the volcano unless you looked in directly from above. Perhaps keeping the lights on a timer could help keep them from wearing out? It still looks good with the bubbles coming from the top, just a little disappointing that the lights had to dull so quickly.
I bought this for as a Christmas present for my son. I think it is adorable and like the size. We had to buy a heater and a light for it so for the price, it could've at least came with a light. Also the top has slits in it so the tank gets dirty fast.

I'm not sure if this product actually works or not as far as helping to establish your beneficial bacterial colony. The "bacteria" is mixed in with bran flakes and floats around on the water surface. I was attracted to the unusual "syringe" design. However, when I received them, they seem big for my 15 gallon tank. What I didn't see from the description picture was the big (unnecessary)hinge/clamp behind the packaging. The "big" size and the yellow knobs really draws undesired attention. This item works fine an no problems at all. It is larger than I think most people will expect. That and the fact of the bright yellow color makes it a little unsightly. I use them in my fry tanks and shrimp hatcheries in the garage so I really don't care. However if this will be visible in your den or living room you may want to find something a little smaller and less conspicuous. This was smaller than I expected. That's my fault, because I should have read better. Also, the color that is in the picture is not what I got at all. That was one of the reasons I chose this for my lizard tank. It is a grey stone color. Not the orange desert rock color that I saw in the picture. Oh well. Other than that, it is what it says it is. Just make sure you check the dimensions before you buy it.

Bought a Tetra Whisper air pump 100 and with in 6 months the diaphragms tore and needed to be replaced. No pet shop carried the replacement parts for it so I had to buy a second one. It was easy to remove the old hardware. New parts went in easy. Air Pump is now back to pumping full blast.
I have a version of this tank and there is no need to cut a space in the hood to accomodate a filter; as the description says, it's an internal filter, not a traditional HOB (hang on back) filter. My filter is slightly different than the one pictured, but internal filters generally have suction cups on the back to attach the filter inside the tank, directly to the back side works best with mine. Hope this helps.

This tank divider is comprised of 4 slotted strips of plastic, one plastic divider and 2 hooks. The dividers that go along the sides of the tank are more substantial than the ones that go across the top and bottom. The plastic divider is thin and flexible full of tiny holes to allow water circulation, and easily trimmed to fit your particular aquarium. My 10 gallon aquarium is a pretty standard rectangle, and this divider still needed a half inch trimmed off in order to fit correctly.
When I received this product it was very compacted and not fluffy. You have to fluff it up like a fake Christmas tree, then it can get really poofy or what ever you want. The one that I received was not as blue as I would have preferred(or as shown in picture) Also the blue that was used was not quite as bright enough for what I expected it to be. It was about 50% blue and 50% white, which kind of through off how I wanted my tank to look having it look like a tree is cool, and the little green shrubs at the bottom of it area a nice touch. It looks good covered in gravel. The bottom stand is a weight so the little blue tree doesn't float away. If it was bluer I would buy this again. I will add a few pictures of it too.

Before I begin, this device has been functioning wonderfully for my cat for several months. Our cat went from waking us up earlier and earlier every morning to feed to never bothering us about scheduled meals at all. We've gone through two other cat feeders in the past few years, and so far I'm very optimistic about this one! Only been a couple of weeks, but the timer is much easier than any of the others. Glad that I don't have to buy an AC Adapter separately like some other products, although this does have the ability to run on batteries as well (and I have batteries installed as a back-up). We've had issues in the past because our cat food kibble is small, and it inevitably causes whatever feeding mechanism we had (auger and flip-style units previously) to jam. It is still early days, but so far it is working wonderfully! Will try to update again once we've owned for a year or longer!
Bought this Aquatop filter through Amazon. Product description indicates that the UV bulb comes with the filter (as does the packaging). The product I received did not have a UV bulb. Grrrr. Yes, Carbon pellets are strewn everywhere in box due to the shipping process. Had to spend another $12 bucks to purchase another UV bulb. I will update this review once the bulb arrives and I begin to use the filter.

I guess you get what you pay for. I bought it for my 3 gallon tank and the end cap on it is just too big for that size tank. Plus it isnt long enough, so I have to prop the bucket for drainage on a chair so it will reach. Plus it is very stiff and it pretty much tries to stay in the bent position that it shows in the picture.
As the other reviewers have indicated, you won't believe what a difference this makes. You think your water is crystal clear, even looking through your tank lengthwise, but after running your water through the Vortex filter with the diatom powder for an hour or two, you'll realize it wasn't that clear. I've used this for many years in both freshwater and saltwater. I think a Vortex filter is one of the best keep secretes in the hobby....I don't understand why more people don't know about it. Normal filters filter down to about 200 sometimes 100 microns....this filters down to 1 micron. Very inexpensive and extremely effective. I recommend you get the thing Vortex sells to get the siphoning started; you don't want to breath this stuff. Pool companies sell diatom powder for much cheaper but I've been told it contains chlorine. I tried the food grade diatom powder sold on Amazon that costs far less but it did not work; it reduced flow to a trickle.

When I received this and was unwrapping it I kept wondering why the tape holding the bowls to the frame was covered in dirt. As I got further into undoing the packaging I realized it wasn't dirt; it was the black paint from the frame! This had obviously been sitting somewhere for a very long time--the tape holding the bowls on was impossible to get off the bowls and it had lifted the paint from the frame to reveal heavy rusting. Every joint of the frame was chipping, showing rust underneath. This is the first time I've purchased something from Amazon that was of poor quality, and I honestly couldn't believe someone thought it was anything but fraudulent to sell this old and falling apart item. Very disappointed.
