This is a very straight forward protein skimmer. I have it in my 125 gallon fish only tank and it's sucking out the DOC's with charm. The only problem is the hose underneath can get kinked which takes out the bubbles, but the little troubleshooting guide that comes with it tells you that this is a possibility so it's easy to fix. I purchased this "Threaded Bulkhead" for my above ground swimming pool plumbing needs. Although the bulk head is working, the only standard thing on it is that you can slip 2" pipe inside the back side of the fitting. The inside threads are designed for something other than 2" pipe thread and my local exclusive plumbing supply store, that has practically every conceivable type of pipe fitting on the planet, was baffled as to the thread spacing. If you don't need to attach any plumbing to the inside of whatever your using this bulk head on you'll be fine. If you're like me and need to attach more plumbing inside your tank / pool steer clear of this one... Unless you can get the non-standard threaded fitting from the same vendor! Just F.Y.I.

Marina I25 Replacement Power Cartridge

These are easy to use, easy to clean and easy to replace. The amount of time they will last depends on what type of tank dwelling critter you have. I have two turtles that I use it for so I am replacing more than someone would who had a fish aquarium.

Although this was a great deal, pricing wise, I don't think it's as great as it should be. With this filter I still need to clean my turtles tank once a week, and he's a baby. Another deal breaker is that it makes a lot of noise at random times, and when it needs to be replaced or clean it gets so much worse. I only use this filter because my tank is very small. But I will invest in a better one when my turtle out grows his tank.

Dealing with _this_ company through Amazon was simple and easy. I could track the package, it arrived fine and is exactly what I needed. Everything should be this simple.

Dimensions are nominal so it will fit the standard tank. I prefer this to the original which had the handle attached on the wrong (to me the small one worked best) panel. You will need some care and muscle to insert the glass into the hinge, try inserting on one end first. Remember that the hinge has cutouts for the supporting lip on the tank, put the handle on AFTER you have the glass panels and cutout assembled the way you want it.

My fish tank is an odd size to find just any lid to fit on it, so after doing some research with the company who made my tank I was able to search by product number and found it cheapest through Amazon. After a year and a half my original lid had split at the seam, but that could have happened during a move. Also, when the lid shatters it isn't in as many pieces as a glass one. Clean up was much easier when it hit the ground. (That was due to circumstances not caused by the product).

The pads fit perfectly are easy to change however the price is a little to high. I will use a cut down to size filter pad which will be more cost effective, a cut to size Boyd chemi-mat filter pad would give better filtration for less money.

I ordered this plant, along with an assortment of other Vibran-Sea plants through Amazon.com. All the items arrived looking beautiful -except this one. These are not packaged well -the leaves are completely exposed, and the plant I received looked as if it had been kicked along a warehouse floor. I returned it to Amazon, and the replacement I got was no better. I decided it was not worth my time or effort to go through another return, so I used a lighter to clean up all the frayed edges and used an iron on the lowest setting to straighten out the creases. The plant is passable now, but not worth the headache. I only give this two stars because the hope that someone may receive one undamaged. It would probably then be pretty nice -but don't count on it.

Plant is okay, it does sway in the water and it is silk, much better than a plastic plant, but the leaves do not stand up well, most of the leaves tend to fall down and lay on the floor of tank, some will stand and sway, but the others do not, price is good, but leaves could of been made a little stronger. They are still nice to have in tank.

Soft Foxtail Color: Blue, Size: Mini

This is a real pretty ornament. It is fluffy and flowing ( not made of plastic ) and once put in water it fluffs right out. It is "mini" so not as tall as one might expect. Most of the foxtails I find are too tall. I like this one. I put it in my tank with a red and an orange mini foxtail and they serve to brighten up the whole tank. The fish seem to love these foxtails. The colors are deep and rich. A nice, affordable addition. This one is really reasonably priced! I would recommend it. It looks very nice in a five and a ten gallon tank and I am sure it would work in any size tank. It is that pretty.

It's a lot smaller than I thought it would be, and mine seems skinnier than the picture displays. But it's the right shade of blue that I wanted, so I like it.

Light output/color is very nice and at around 40 bucks, I'd give it an early strong buy rating. I will update once I actually see some growth results.

Lifegard Aquatics 1/2-Inch Bulkhead Fitting Kit

This is exactly what I needed for my aquaponics project. This has worked well with little to no leaking since I got it. I was not planning on using the filter attachment at first, but it has proved a very good thing. My only struggle is getting the filter part off each month when I need to clean out the tubes its just a press fitting, but it seems to be harder to take out every month. The thin plastic of the guard has held up surprisingly well to my pliers.

solid bulkhead (sch 40, not 80) is well constructed. strainer or 1/2" PVC fits snugly and does not leak. getting the strainer and the bulkhead for just a bit more than either is a great deal, and if you are using flexible tubing the adapter makes it an even better deal.

Malaysian Driftwood, Large

The driftwood is large. Like others who have bought this item, the piece that I received was more beautiful than the one that is pictured. It is a new piece which will leak Tannis into the the water causing the water to turn a brownish color. Some people do not like this, however, it is a natural process and in many cases helps your fish, depending on where they come from. Some fish require a "Black Water" effect which Tannis does provide. It does cause the water to become a little acidic. Mostly, it depends on if your tank was balanced or not. (A truly balanced tank should be at a neutral pH due to acidic and alkaline processes balancing each other out. Example: Nitrification by bacteria causes the water lower in pH; while photosynthesis from plants and algae causes an increase in pH.)

Because it is a new piece of driftwood, you may experience a period in which matter begins to decompose and fungus will grow. Fungus is one of nature's cleaners. It may be unsightly for a little while. Again, this is a natural process that will take care of itself in time. If you don't like the fungus at all, get tank mate(s) that like to eat the stuff. I recommend adding a few guppies to your tank, feeder or fancy will do. Just be aware that they are live bearers and have a 28 day birthing cycle. The babies can lead to overstocking, however, if you do not wish to care for them, they will be quickly eaten up by your other fish.

All in all, I am very happy with this piece of driftwood.

I received this item very quickly. It is about 18 inches long and 12 inches at its widest. The one I received does not look like the one in the picture. I prefer the one I got over the one in the picture. It is made from a very good quality piece of wood. It is dense and light brown in color with several holes and protruding edges. This piece of driftwood looks natural except for the part that was cut from the main piece. The cut offers and unique look into the dark, dense, and almost petrified interior of this piece. I took off one star because this was literally put into a box with no packaging, thankfully it is a very sturdy piece of wood.

I ordered this item knowing that the product I received would not be identical to the one in the picture. I absolutely love the piece I received! I soaked it in hot water for about an hour to remove some of the tannins and placed it in my tank during a water change. My tiger barbs and various loach species absolutely love dancing around the driftwood. They weave above and below the branches and seem so much happier with a more natural piece of aquarium decor.

The price is exceptional for the item received and I would recommend it to anyone!

The undergravel is possibly the most basic form of aquarium filtration. This undergravel does just that. It works. All you need is an air pump, gravel and that's it. Lay your gravel sloped, shallow towards the front and it will work. Hook up your air pump and enjoy. If you are setting up a new tank, keep in mind that the water may cloud up at first. After setting the tank up it may look fine and crystal clear. You go to bed only to wake up to a cloudy tank. It is not the fault of the filter. It may be new gravel that has not "cycled" with bennificial bacteria yet. You may have to use a bacteria promoter or a product like Tetra "SafeStart" which is available on Amazon or you can just let it cycle naturally to promote it's own bacteria bloom. The Lee's premium undergravel filter is effective and does promote excellent biological filtration.

I use one of these pumps to power my Cichlid community tanks under gravel Jet system. (If curious about UGJ's look them up on Cichlid-forum)

It provides good water movement and excellent filtration thanks to the attached sponge filter. It is no louder than an air pump really and has no real drawbacks. as with all impeller driven pumps clean your impeller often and it will treat you good.

The water flow valve is also good if you, like me, like to lower the water flow in your tank at night to help the fish rest.

i needed to replace the pump in my tank (after years) and the old one was a Rio, so i naturally started looking for the modern version. My research online scared me away from Rio because i was finding bad reviews on normally informative Reef Blogs so i decided to go to my Local Fish Store (LFS) who have yet to lead me wrong and ask some questions. Aquatic Gardens Stainless Steel Thermometer

I got this from PetCo nearby, and chose it from among the options there because:

1) it's easy to read

2) has both F and C readings (I want my 7-yo daughter to learn about both scales)

3) i like the idea of a thermometer that sits in the water instead of one that's stuck to the outside of the glass

I have an Aqueon 20-gallon aquarium, and I was worried when I bought it that it wouldn't fit on the lip of the tank. I was right! The lip of the tank, with its black plastic trim, is too wide for this thermometer to hang there.

However, I found the perfect place to put it, using the black plastic lid that came with the aquarium. The back corner of the lid has a slot cut out of it (I imagine for routing a power cable), and this thermometer hangs perfectly through that slot.
