these were poorly packaged, and slightly larger than what they should have been the edges are frayed but made it work in my sons tank, and everything seems to be going well

Just an FYI, each package only contains 1 sponge (filter floss comes in a 6 pack). . . This perfectly fits the trays inside the cascade 1200 and 1500 canister filters. The sponge is quite coarse and will catch the biggest debris particles. However you'll want a tray or two loaded with filter floss to polish the water.

As for maintenance of the bio-sponge, there's really no reason to replace this product any sooner than once a year. To clean it: pour the old canister water into a bucket, then take and wring out this "biosponge" in there. Wash it off using the old aquarium water and once it's fairly clean, put the sponge right back into the filter. Don't use city tap water to wash this because the chlorine will kill the beneficial denitrifying bacteria.

I say 5 stars out of 5 because it perfectly fits the filter tray, the price isn't outrageous, and it will last a really long time.

General Cage-Stairway To Heaven Cat Furniture

The tree is a great value for the $. It's as tall as it claims to be but it's not really usable at that height. It's quite wobbly when extended that far. Although I did put it up and my kitties are using it. (I just wrapped a furniture strap around one of the posts and bolted it to a stud it the wall and now it's sturdy as can be!)

Real Laterite 64 oz.

Laterite is not widely used anymore as a substrate in aquariums, but I have found it very useful for substrate maintenance. I use a red-flourite layer in the substrate that puts less debris and fine dust in water. But I am not one to change out the whole substrate every couple of years. So the more clay like laterite is useful for replenishing the lost nutrients in the flourite layer by balling up the laterite and pressing it into the substrate.

All in all, this product is well boxed and packaged so its easy to store it until its needed.

Marineland Perfecto Glass Canopy 48 in. x 18 in.

I would not say that the Perfecto glass is all that perfect. One thing the description fails to mention is that it comes in multiple sections to fill each of the sections of the top of the aquarium. That is fine, except that the separate pieces do not fit properly into their positions on the aquarium. Each panel was approximately a half inch (5/8") too wide. I think it would be helpful if Marineland provide all of the different dimensions of this product, not just the total size for the aquarium it fits. 48"x18" does not accurately describe it. It is actually two separate panels that are both roughly 22.5"x18". I used a glass cutter to shorten the pieces... something I would not recommend.

Beyond sizing, the glass cover is actually a good quality product. The hinge is very firmly in place and not inclined to slide apart like others I have seen. It is easy to add and adjust the plastic section at the back for concealing gaps between the filters and other items hanging off the back of the tank.

Quick and efficient customer service, product arrived as described on website. Would be more than willing to do service with them again .

This glass top fits perfectly on my 75 gallon by Marineland. I would recommend getting whatever glass top thats made by your tank manufacturer. This particular set is a great fit and looks much better than the traditional canopy. I recommend the Aqueon dual flourescent light to couple with this for a sleek look. Easy to install and great quality.

I didn't get this on Amazon but that other site. Been using submersible heaters over 20 years. It is a great looking item. Looks like a top quality item. That's where the good news ends. The first one of these I got exploded in the tank after about 3 minutes. Glad I was near by to run and unplug it as it sissled. Had to clean glass from the tank. Seller sent free replacement. The replacement will not come on at any temperature or any setting. At least it didn't blow up. Seller refunded in full and said they would check their stock..Hope they do cuz I'm just glad no fish or people were injured by this.

I am on a budget, and did alot of price comparisons on many tank heaters. I was very surprised to find this size

unit at that price. I thought it was such a deal, that I bought two units. I have no regrets.

Wall Mount Hanging Beta Fish Bubble Aquarium Bowl Tank

I had actually bought this as a replacement for our old wall mount betta bowl. My Husband had made the mistake of using an abrasive cleaning pad on the old ones surface and scratched it heavily. So my recommendation is to only wipe it with a damp cloth if it needs cleaning.

But other than that it looks FABULOUS, a lot of people have admired it whenever they've seen it on our wall. It's mounts well on the wall (if mounted properly) and our little guy loves his little "high rise" home :D

I wouldn't recommend removing it from the wall to replace the water, use a siphoning pipe and bucket instead to remove most of the water and then replacing it with fresh water.

I've had this bowl for about 6 months now and my beta is doing great! I get a ton of compliments when people walk in the front door and find a fish bowl hanging on the wall in front of them! Everyone says "Hey, that's really cool!" It is fairly hard to clean and refill the bowl since there's no way to set it flat but other than that I would definitely recommend.

Purchased never used due to the tedious task of having to unscrew it from the wall every time the tank would need cleaning . The visual aspects of this tank are wonderful, but it is not practical.

This type of bowl, or any type of bowl for that matter, is not the proper home for a fish. Like other reviewers stated, it is extremely hard to clean. A fish, no matter the breed, needs a filter, a bubbler for aeration, light and depending on where it is in the home and where you live, heat.

Fish are good starter pets for teaching kids responsibility, but they are living creatures, not decorative pieces. Would you buy a dog just to keep it muzzled and in a crate its whole life? Give them room to thrive, buy the proper equipment or don't buy at all.

Reason for purchase:

I have had my beta fish in regular bowl for awhile now. My twin boys (almost 2 yrs) would slap the stand the bowl would sit on and i am sure that is not healthy for the fish. More terrified that the glass bowl would fall onto one of the boys i either had to find a tall place to keep the beta (which makes no since because betas are there to be shown off) or another option for a tank. I came across this wall tank by accident. It seemed like a good idea to keep the fish away from my kids (or in other cases big animals).

Style:

The picture shown is exactly how the BOWL looks (does not include rocks, fish and decor). Except i filled my bowl more so the fish had more space.

Size:

in my opinion if you were to take a soccer ball then cut it in half it would closely resemble the size of the bowl.

i would not put this product in a spot with a lot of traffic (hallway, entry way etc) because of the fear of someone running into it.

Not included:

as stated before you will only get the fish bowl. The rocks, decor, fish and Screw are purchased separately.

Installing:

i would not suggest putting the screw into drywall as it is only held by 1 screw (if interested you could buy double sided tape to help support but so far 1 screw has held the bowl just fine), instead find a stud and drill into it as it will support the weight of rocks and water easier.

I read comments that say they would have to unscrew the bowl from the wall every time they want to clean it. That is only true if you don't use your brain and find a long screw with a smaller head so you can just lift up the bowl and it would come off. (same concept as a picture on the wall)

where the screw hole is on the bowl there is a small slot so your screw falls into place more securely.

extras:

from family i have gotten great ideas to print out a background to tape to the back of the bowl for more color.

The aquarium have to be on a flat surface with the glass where you will work upside. This means you have to apply the background before the initial setup of the aquarium. After the aplication of the background is better not to touch it, because is some easy to peel of the background. Any way the final effect is great.

This plant isn't life like but it's still looks pretty in the aquarium. Yes,it does fall apart when you try to clean it but it's not hard to put back together. Price was right at the time.

Neutral Regulator, 500 g / 1.1 lbs

I have used this product in my tap water for about a month now... My tap water is around 8.2 to 8.4 and has a decent amount of dissolved solids. To get three gallons down to 7.4 to 7.6 it takes up to 3 times the amount recommended to get it there. My tank is around 6.8 to 7.0. I can only do small amount of water changes at a time (around 10% or so) or it will start to stress out the fish, I even had some that will try and jump out. I think this product would work great if you have and acidic water problem. I use this in my tank to help bring up the p.h. and off set the tannic acid from the wood. (It used to be around 6.5)

I was having great difficulty maintaining the Ph level in my aquariums. I had tried frequent water changes, putting shells in them, and other pieces of advice you find on the internet. Nothing worked. It was around 6 to not measurable by the test. Then someone at my LFS said to use this, and it fixed everything! I was hesitant because I don't like to use chemicals in my tanks other than Stress Coat to dechlorinate during water changes. I have not had an issue with ammonia, nitrites, or nitrates since I started using this, and the Ph levels are rock solid. I tried to fix the other chemical levels for about a year, but they straightened out after I leveled the Ph. I actually use less than the directions call for and test weekly to maintain it, but I never put any in except at water changes.

I let it disolve in a cup while I am doing the water change. Otherwise particles will float around the aquarium until they dissolve. Some users complain about the phosphorus causing algae growth, but I love plecos so this is never a problem for me and I can't really say if it does!

Coralife 05373 Aqualight Mounting Legs, Clear

These legs fit great on my 24 inch aqualight. Please note they do not fit on my aqualight mini.

I highly recommend these legs for anyone who owns a coralife aqualight other than the mini.

I ordered these after noticing the format of the mounting leg attachment.

I recently purchased online (at a "Bidding" site) a 4-bulb T5 fixure, that had a hinge-type (swing up) mount.

Unfortunately, I was saddened to find I was unable to use that style mount, due to my use of a sliding-glass lid setup.

The supplied hinge/light support required an overlapping of the tank rim, to attach on the inside of the tank.

Upon researching for a hinge solution, I noticed that these mounted in the same style horizontal track, that runs accross the front and back of the light fixture housing.

These legs fit those style fixtures perfectly!

If your fixture has these "dove-tail" slots approx. 1/4" wide.....these are your option!

Without reviewing the light system, because that is not what we are talking about here and can all agree that hi-end lighting is the best.

As far as the leg supports: For four pieces of molded plastic, and four metal inserts to hold lighting for some systems that may cost in excess of $300 these are crappola!

We understand that when you clean your tank and remove the lighting system you must be careful however, if you are not being perfectly careful these things will crack. The metal inserts are far from perfect, and the screws that hold the metal in place with the legs are ever so small.

The light system needs to be supported on these units there either has to be a better way to support the unit, or the support system needs to be revamped.

I suggest that if you found a better way to support the unit put it online. We would all appreciate the advice.

So I read the reviews for this item, and thats the only reason I trusted this purchase because for the price of this filter and it stating how much GPH it can produce? It seemed too good to be true.

But when I received the item, the first thing I noticed is that the media baskets were a lot larger than I thought they were going to be, and all the parts were there. The only thing I had a problem with about the item was that the intake and out take plastic pieces were a green color, which really stood out against the black background of my tank so i painted them black before putting them in lol. This isn't something to take a star off for, just a personal preference. But just to note for the maker if you're reading this, maybe making the parts black would be a better neutral color vs. a green one, just for feedback.

Anyway, you cant go wrong with this purchase if you're looking for a good, cheap cost, working canister filter! You won't regret it. Mine's been up and running for almost a month now, no problems.

I got this tank with a betta in mind, and it works perfectly for that purpose. I have no complaints at all about the tank itself--but I do want to give some warnings. A goldfish needs more along the lines of 10 gallons per fish, not 2.65. A betta however will be just fine in this tank. The problem with most fish kits is that they are never big enough for the fish they're made for. Goldfish also need way more filtration, and I will warn you that the filter that comes with this kit is pretty much useless. However, anyone looking for a good, simple betta tank should do absolutely great with this one. Although I haven't tried it myself, the 1.77 gallon variety of this tank would probably be fine too. I'd also recommend getting your own gravel and plant, the gravel is far too cheap and rough, and the silk plant had strings coming off of it that would either float to the top or come dangerously close to getting tangled onto my fish.

This review seems incredibly negative, but believe me, I love the tank and it deserves the four stars--it's just the premise of the kit and the bundled accessories that aren't worth your time. I like it far better than any other similar plastic tanks, and betta kits are the smallest pieces of junk ever. With a little extra effort, you will have no problems keeping a smaller individual fish in this tank. Just please don't try to cram a goldfish into this thing.

Marina Algae Magnet Cleaner

I wouldnt suggest buying this magnet to save a few bucks. Its pretty narrow and not as strong as the Marineland brand. It does work, but its not nearly as good.

This does exactly what it says it does. It gets the algae off the sides of my fish tank without me having to stick my hand in there. Sometimes it takes a few passes to get really thick algae off and the scrubbing pad may have to be rinsed off a couple of times before you're done cleaning, but it works really well and it's one of the best purchases I've made for my tank. A string ties the two magnets together in case you lose contact with the one inside so you never even have to reach it to get it when you're done. Highly recommended.

This did not work as I had expected. The magnet strength was not very strong. It constantly disconnected when I was trying to clean the tank. This must be known because they give you a piece to thread to pull the fallen piece up.

We bought this cleaner to help quickly finish off a tank cleaning as well as to occasionally give our Betta tank a swift touch up, but it was actually more work than anything. The product includes a string that is supposed to "shimmy" the pads to clean the tank walls, but it's nearly impossible to do this with ease or speed. In addition, the pads were not of very good quality either only adding to the frustration.

I have a 9 month old Boxer who is so strong that I would not take her for walks for fear of one of us being injured. Luckily we have a great yard set up for her where she gets plenty of exercise, but I missed being able to go on walks with her as she grew bigger and stronger.

I saw this harness on a dog training show on tv and decided it was worth a try. On the show it was used on a boxer that was even crazier than my dog and it appeared to have an instant effect. I decided it was worth a try. The first walk I took her on made me a believer. When she starts to pull it lifts her front legs off the ground and she can't get anywhere. The impact on both me and the dog is minimal. I now feel that I have the control to be able to take her on walks with my two small children. I highly recommend this harness.

This harness is great! I have a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix that seems to think going for walks means pulling me around the neighborhood. I had tried everything but the dog was just so stubborn that she wouldn't learn. I had decided that I was either going to have to reluctantly purchase a choke collar for her or just stop walking her altogether. Thankfully, my neighbor introduced me to this collar that she uses for her Lab. It really works. It's very humane, so the dog isn't hurt at all, but it really does make them stop pulling. The harness goes around the neck and underneath the 2 front legs so when the dog starts pulling the harness basically pulls the front legs off the ground thereby stopping the dog from walking. This is a great product and I will never use anything else.

I bought this harness for our 6 month old Golden Retriever. On the smallest setting it actually fits! We are excited about that because it certainly will fit her through into adulthood. It is easy to put on and take off. Easy to adjust. Harness has pads around the legs, not the thickest, but should do the job of making her more comfortable. She is still getting used it. But we are happy that she is not being choked around the neck when we take her for walks. She is a big-time puller. I wondered what the big deal about the mesh was. But now I understand because it expands for comfort (there is elastic supporting the mesh from behind). We haven't had the harness for long, but so far are pleased.

My 7 mos old, 55lb APBT/American Bulldog mix chewed through the clips on his standard clip-style PetSmart harness, so I figured I'd give this one a try. He isn't a puller unless he sees another dog, so I was curious to what effect this harness would have on his pulling.

Pros: Fits perfect, seems comfortable when he's not pulling hard, effective training tool to stop pulling.

Cons: When he sees other dogs, he pulls regardless. But the harness squeezes into his ribcage hard enough to cause him to gag and choke, which was a little worrisome. Worse, there is major fraying/cutting of the cord with ring that attaches to leash. This happened within 5 HOURS of use (the cord is cut through 50% in one spot, and about 1/3 of the way through in two other spots).

Summary: I liked the harness for the five hours I used it; however, the tensile strength of the cord that attaches to the leash is compromised enough that I wouldn't trust using it again unless I repair the cord (as any other owner of large bully breeds can probably attest, you don't put your dog into situations where he can come off a leash in public and cause pandemonium, hah.) In the end, I simply bought another standard clip harness from PetSmart for $11, which is pretty much what I would recommend for anyone else.

I bought this to use during the "training process" with my 2yr old Doberman rescue. He came to me completely untrained. Hes 80lbs, I'm 125lbs not a good combination if he wants to get to something. He tends to only pull to get to another dog and occasionally pulled me across someone's yard to see a dog behind a fence. Not fun. While working on regular leash and obedience training I needed something to give me more control of him. I bought this based on other reviews and even if he's lunging to get to another dog, I have complete control over him. It makes walking him and working on heeling a breeze. I have complete control over him with exerting very little energy. I'd definitely recommend to anyone else who loves big dogs but may not be as strong as they are :/
