Hydor Koralia Nano 240 Aquarium Circulation Pump 240 GPH

Bought this for my planted 37 gallon tank to circulate a dead spot in my aquarium. This is my 1st Koralia or water circulation pump and was worried that it would blow away my fish and plants all over so I bought this under sized one instead of the Koralia Nano 425 which was rated for my tank size. I was surprised at how it circulates well for a big tank. It creates a dispersed and gentle current, unlike a powerhead that blasts a stream of water in a single direction. My fish has also perked up, they seem to like the gentle current and I often see them swimming around it. Also, it's nice to see the leaves on my plant sway with the current.

As for my dead spot, this little thing took care of it and water is clearer. I have it aimed down and towards my Fluval C4 and any detritus or fish poop is pushed towards it. The magnetic suction cup is awesome, it gives you flexibility of putting this Koralia anywhere in your tank without worrying about the suction cup wearing out. Did I mention the size of this thing? It's slightly larger than an egg but does not take up a lot of space. Others have mentioned the red ball clip that attaches to the magnetic suction cup may break, but in my experience it's a solid piece and unless you are putting a lot of force and stress on it, then yes it will break.

Recommend this product highly!

If you are looking to create cross flow in a small nano (I use it on my Nano cube 12) this is perfect. I had a much larger water mover in there, and it was just too much.. This is powerful enough for small tanks and created a great flow throughout the tank when paired with the Hydor spinner on the tanks pump output.

I do not think I would use this on anything larger then a 12 or bio cube 14. If I where to have a 20 long, or even a 28 nano cube I would opt for something a little more powerful.

It is small, and not very obstructive of viewing even when placed towards the front of the tank.

I really love this product. This is my second one. I searched for the smallest size and this is what I came up with. My fish seems to struggle with my larger one like they were in a sea storm which I really didn't like it seem to stress them out. I found this and I love it and the fish love it they can swim in calm sea's again! It's a great product just right for what I was looking for. The corals sway just enough and I'm very happy with this size and this product. I would recommend it to everyone and would purchase another. Thanks to the reviews, I decided to give this pump a try for my 9 gallon Eheim Aquastyle saltwater nano. I've been in the hobby over 10 years mostly heavily planted, aquascaped freshwater tanks in the past from 50g to 0.5g. I've always been very pleased with the Hydor products and this one is no exception. For the quality, price and function, this is a great pump, especially on Amazon. I wouldn't go cheaper with a more inferior brand or even a more costly one that does the same thing.

I found other reviews with tank descriptions especially helpful so here's mine: my saltwater nano has 1 clownfish, 1 cleaner shrimp, cuc's and several soft corals of starburst polyps, kenya tree, pulsing xenia and mushrooms live rock and 1 inch live sand (sand is more aesthetics). Eheim's tanks are beautiful on their own, so every accessory counts going in. Most importantly, I didn't want the other inhabitants blown in a circle or with such force that they would have to hide in a corner of rock. Sure enough, based on the reviews and other research on fish boards, the open flow of this pump is gentle enough in the tank for everyone. Based on my live rock formation, I have the pump on the back left side, a little lower than mid-tank directing current toward the opposite wall with the corner filter (sand gets kicked up if placed lower). The pump creates a soft current that wraps nicely around the rocks to give the corals a gentle sweeping effect in combo with the filter flow overhead. The starburst polyps have already grown larger in the past week and the CUC's are out and about more often in the light. Another benefit is that the sand has been cleaner too, even as I increased my light hours for better tank viewing in winter.

Since I have only had the pump 2 weeks, I am giving it 4 out of 5 stars. As other reviewers mentioned, there is a slight hum to my otherwise nearly silent tank. But the animals all seem more lively and "happier" with the added flow so I'm keeping it. If the vibration gets much louder or circulation fades, I'll likely replace it with another one. Hopefully the sound remains minimal and pump lasts a couple years. If so, I would vote 5 of 5. Cheers and happy reef/fish keeping!

I got this for a 10 gallon tank with a splitter (two male bettas), and I wanted a large plant to split the view so the bettas do not see each other easily. This plant looks great and is very large, (I had to tuck it in the back to keep it under water, since it wanted to go higher then my 10 gallon tank). It has a plastic bottom, and due to the size takes a little effort to bury it under the gravel, since the gravel does not want to stay in the plastic cup. However, once you get it in it looks really nice in the tank and the aquarium's lid light really looks good bouncing off of the leaves, making it a very nice bright blue coloring to the tank). I got this with two purple/blue plants to cut off view from the two sides of the betta tank. It works perfectly and the male betta loves swimming through the leaves and laying against it in the tank.

In the end this is large plant and looks nice in my tank, it helps cover the splitting wall for my 10 gallon betta tank, and the betta seems to love to swim through it and lay on the plant. It is a great addition to the tank and it seems to have received the approval of Tofu, my male betta (the other betta is named Sushi). :) Highly recommend!!

My theme in my guppy tank is blue and purple. This so far has stayed together, and looks very pretty.

biOrb Scratch Remover Polish Accessory Pack

I got a magnetic cleaner and it scratched the bajeebus out of my tank. One packet was more then enough to remove all of the scratches. I didn't think it would be possible to get them out. While I don't think it would do much good for deep gouges, it did an excellent job of removing small surface ones.

Scratches were removed fairly well, but there wasn't enough of it to cover all the scratches I acquired while moving my biOrb cross country. Could've used two -or even three -times as much!

Barely a teaspoon of paste and a pad that you get with the filter cartridge. And it doesn't even work on noticeable scratches. I don't mean deep scratches, but it doesn't work on anything other than haze. I didn't buy it to get rid of haze.

I think they should be clear in the description of this scratch removal kit that it will remove SMALL, FINE scratches. It will make a slight improvement to larger scratches created by the ceramic media so I recommend being very careful if you have to remove any of the cermaic media and not getting scratches in the first place!

I've had my AL for 2 years now. It is flawless. It offers a wonderful timer with battery backup(to keep track of time for 30min, not for backup lighting), great reflectors, and easily replacable moonlight LEDs

The good parts: Well ventilated for ballasts/bulbs. Reflectors are really good, although not seperate. I am able to GROW acropora's and montiporas underneath it (I do use ATI bulbs though). The moonlights cover the entire tank, not just one portion and are easy to replace.

The innards are also VERY easy to replace should something go wrong. My first fan broke, I found a comparable power computer fan and plugged it right in, no wiring skills needed.

AquaticLife customer support is UNSURPASSED. I had one issue with LEDs once, they mailed me a full set, no questions asked.

They are seriously fast to respond, and the best company I've ever dealt with.

The bad parts: While the fixture is well ventilated, I dont think its enough for the LEDs. Mine started blinking within a couple months and then burnt out. I replaced them under warranty and it happened again fairly quickly. I can live without moonlights, but its sad as I like the look.

The breakdown: This fixture is an AMAZING compromise between price and power. It has the ability to support most coral, and easy to fix in a pinch. I would HIGHLY recommend this fixture if you dont mind loss of moonlights.

This a well made light for a decent price. The built in timer and single cord make it pretty slick. The timer runs in 24hr time. It looks nice. It's bright, runs nice and cool. I would buy another.

This light is great! It has a built in time so you don't have to worry about turning on the light yourself every morning or buying timers. You can use the default times are set your own. It has white light to simulate daytime, blue actinic lights for your corals, and blue led's that come on at night to simulate the moon. The blue led's provide a lot of shimmer. The 10,000K white light is plenty bright for my 65 gallon FOWLR tank. I plan to get coral in the future after my water has stabilized a little more. For the price, this light is awesome.

We already have one of these poo bag holders and just wanted a 2nd to keep on my hands-free running leash. We bought the first one over 2 years ago and it's still almost as good as new. It's been through a lot. We leave it on the leash so we always have a bag on hand. It's been through the rain, dropped and pulled through the mud and snow and still works. The only thing that hasn't done well is the little metal clip but since it has a velcro clip we don't care that the metal one broke. The zipper is still good as new. I have used this product in my tap water for about a month now... My tap water is around 8.2 to 8.4 and has a decent amount of dissolved solids. To get three gallons down to 7.4 to 7.6 it takes up to 3 times the amount recommended to get it there. My tank is around 6.8 to 7.0. I can only do small amount of water changes at a time (around 10% or so) or it will start to stress out the fish, I even had some that will try and jump out. I think this product would work great if you have and acidic water problem. I use this in my tank to help bring up the p.h. and off set the tannic acid from the wood. (It used to be around 6.5)

I was having great difficulty maintaining the Ph level in my aquariums. I had tried frequent water changes, putting shells in them, and other pieces of advice you find on the internet. Nothing worked. It was around 6 to not measurable by the test. Then someone at my LFS said to use this, and it fixed everything! I was hesitant because I don't like to use chemicals in my tanks other than Stress Coat to dechlorinate during water changes. I have not had an issue with ammonia, nitrites, or nitrates since I started using this, and the Ph levels are rock solid. I tried to fix the other chemical levels for about a year, but they straightened out after I leveled the Ph. I actually use less than the directions call for and test weekly to maintain it, but I never put any in except at water changes.

I let it disolve in a cup while I am doing the water change. Otherwise particles will float around the aquarium until they dissolve. Some users complain about the phosphorus causing algae growth, but I love plecos so this is never a problem for me and I can't really say if it does!

Marina Algae Magnet Cleaner

I wouldnt suggest buying this magnet to save a few bucks. Its pretty narrow and not as strong as the Marineland brand. It does work, but its not nearly as good.

This does exactly what it says it does. It gets the algae off the sides of my fish tank without me having to stick my hand in there. Sometimes it takes a few passes to get really thick algae off and the scrubbing pad may have to be rinsed off a couple of times before you're done cleaning, but it works really well and it's one of the best purchases I've made for my tank. A string ties the two magnets together in case you lose contact with the one inside so you never even have to reach it to get it when you're done. Highly recommended.

This did not work as I had expected. The magnet strength was not very strong. It constantly disconnected when I was trying to clean the tank. This must be known because they give you a piece to thread to pull the fallen piece up.

We bought this cleaner to help quickly finish off a tank cleaning as well as to occasionally give our Betta tank a swift touch up, but it was actually more work than anything. The product includes a string that is supposed to "shimmy" the pads to clean the tank walls, but it's nearly impossible to do this with ease or speed. In addition, the pads were not of very good quality either only adding to the frustration.

I only bought Marineland Stealth heaters before this one, and am glad I tried it. The Jager is more conspicuous than the Stealth, but I believe it is made to a higher quality. One of my Stealths broke, and another was recalled, so I decided to move on. The Jager is my favorite so far. I would have tried the Fluval heater with the microprocessor, but it was considerably more expensive. Overall, the Eheim looks good, has an orange indicator light that lets you know its on, is fully submersible, and can be calibrated if it becomes inaccurate. The suction cups stick rather well and the suction cup holder is actually pretty nice. Also something that led to get this one is that it heats more water per watt than other heaters, which saves power (the 150W will heat 75gal where I believe you would need 200W of another heater). Recommend and would buy again

**UPDATE 1-14-12: Faulty thermostat and bad customer service!

Okay so I originally thought this heater was great right? (Original review in Nov 2011) I used this product for several weeks after my initial review until I saw that my Fluval G filter was telling me that my water was getting too hot (84-ish degrees). I tested what the filter registered by using two other thermometers and they all read the same (so I knew it wasn't a thermometer issue). What could be happening? I then realized that I've always seen the orange indicator light of the Jager on, never off. Sooo, it just keeps heating even after reaching set temp. I tried the calibration. Did not help. Then I put 110F water in a bucket, put in the Jager and plugged it in. The orange light still came on! Amazon warranty was expired by this point, but Eheim offers a 3-yr warranty on the heater.

I contacted Eheim North America by email/comment on their site. They apparently have no phone number so you have to write them, which blows. Okay so I got a quick reply (the next day!) which I was happy about that just said to email them my proof of purchase and a shipping address so I did that the same day. This was on Dec 23 2011 and I have yet to hear back. I have since contacted them again weeks ago to see what the problem was and still no answer. A 3-yr warranty on the Jager is great, but if no one answers you it might as well be a 3 second warranty!!

TIP: Other people seem to love this heater but I have had a 100% failure rate (1/1). **MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THAT THE THERMOSTAT WORKS ON THIS WITHIN 30 DAYS SO YOU CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF AMAZON'S WARRANTY! You do not want to try to talk to Eheim Tech Support!

I cannot find their phone number, has anyone found it?

I'm still willing to give Eheim a shot, and will actually probably order another one of these. I'll also try contacting them again. Also, I will update again if I ever get a reply, otherwise, as much as this heater looks good, heats well, and has awesome temp dial and calibration, the thermostat is too important of a part for me to give this anything more than a 1 star rating. I hope you all have better luck.

I bought this heater about 6 months ago, and it does what it's supposed to do... Keeps a constant temperature in my tank, and it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. It's easy to set because the dial actually has numbers on it 80, 78, 76, etc, as opposed to just High and Low.

Really works, but it will kill your biological filter. Remove the injured fish into a hospital tank (the smaller the better) and treat by sprinkling it in the water. It's not as effective as mixing it with their food, but sick fish don't usually eat.

I've also done the recipe on their website for making an antibiotic food. That's VERY effective and useful, and certainly a better use of the medication. It's only a little time consuming but worth it for a direct application to the fish. It's helpful if you've got a whole tank to treat and they will eat.

Fluval Magnetic Impeller w/Straight Fan Blades, 304, 305

My old 304 has been loud for at least 8 months or so and it was getting loud and rattled. I replaced this part with not much faith that it would help but the price was low. Now my 304 is like new and sounds like my new 305 next to it (duel tank set up). I had replaced a broken ceramic rod and the plastic clip on holder before and it still rattled until I replaced the impeller. I'm average joe, don't have any special interest in the company etc. I just wanted to share that it worked for me.

As I said, once I have dropped this impeller into my Fluval 304 filter, it had cut down noise made by the filter from 86 to 68 decibel. I wish the filter was completely silent, but the noise reduction was pretty good.

When new I was really impressed with how quiet the Fluval filter was compared to others I had owned. It was starting to rattle badly and I did not realize that the magnetic impeller wore out. Replacing the impeller made the filter sound and perform like new.

It seems that these aquarium ornaments are made for people to look at and not for fish to live with. There were so many sharp, jagged little areas on this ornament that I ended up having to extensively sand it just to get rid of those areas because I was afraid of what would happen to a fish that swam too close the wrong way or too quickly. Well, the snails have something else to crawl on at least.

Fits nicely in the tank. A little loose but nothing terrible. I had purchased this because the gravel and stones that come with the tank can be a hand full to take out and clean. I usually end up losing several pieces of gravel and make a mess. With this i don't need the gravel any more. Just pull out the decoration, making cleaning a snap. Also the archway provides a nice little hutch that my fish seems to enjoy sitting in. Also he will lay on the tiered sections on the top. Since my fish is getting some functional use out of the decoration i'm glad i decided to go with this one instead of some the others.

I bought this specifically because it looked smooth and not made out of some "lava-rock" stuff like a lot of aquarium ornaments. It is made out of that lava-rock stuff. It comes with the rocks glued into it. it is not a dark marble color as the picture shows. It is more of a flat gray color with a few streaks of dark gray. I do like the design, however. and it has hidden holes under the rocks to prevent air bubbles from being trapped in it.

I put this in my snail tank that is 2.5 gallons. The ornament is on the small size, but is the centerpiece in my tiny tank. I wouldn't use it as a primary ornament in anything larger than 5 gallons, and even that's pushing it. As it stands, my snails like to crawl all over it and it looks cool in the small tank.
