Hagen Marina Rootscaper Chain Amazon Mat, 3-Pack

Hagen Marina Rootscaper Chain Amazon Mat, 3-PackI was looking for something for my live breeder babies to hide in. This grass worked great. It stats weighed down but my river rock and looks great. I was expecting them to be slightly larger, there are 3 pieces, aproxamatly 2x3 inches. The mat can be put together many ways or completely seppqarated. Great look for a cheap price, i may order another.

I purchased this product at a local fish store and have used it for over 1 year. I first placed these grass mats in a tank with several Tiger Barbs and Black Kuhli Loaches. Before adding the grass mats my Loaches were extremely shy and hardly ever visible in my tank despite having subdued lighting. After adding the grass mats my Loaches came to life. They thoroughly enjoy weaving their eel-like bodies in and out of the blades of grass as they "play." These grass mats have given them confidence to come out and play and allow them to be more easily viewed while they are "hiding."

The grass mats are also a good substrate for algae growth and many of my algae eaters attach themselves to the blades to eat the green algae. In a well established aquarium these mats will grow a dark green algae that adds a nice contrast to the tank and makes it more realistic looking.

It is important to remove these grass mats when you do gravel vacuuming since they do tend to promote the build up of pockets of debris within the gravel. After removing the grass mats they are very simple to "re-install." I usually clear away some gravel from the area I intend to place the mats and set them down while dropping handfuls of gravel over the mat to help weigh it down. If you disturb the gravel over the grass mat it will settle and the blades will become visible again.

All in all, these grass mats are a beautiful addition to any aquarium and are thoroughly enjoyed by many types of fish.

They stay connected in a strand, but the individual "leaves" fall off easily. Avoid this piece of trash at all costs.

I needed more places for the babies to hide when my platties gave birth. So far they have managed to not become food for the other fish. Some of the leaves were detached when I received it but they easily go back on. The plastic didn't seem to have sharp edges. I separated it into three pieces. I really liked the way it looked in the tank so I purchased another one.

It was a chore getting this grass to stay down in the tank, but finally managed to use a few sprigs of it. If you purchase it, leave it is large of a section as you can, put it down first, then dump your rocks/sand on top of it and pull it up to height. Also, the sprigs were not as "soft" as I was hoping. No motion underwater.

Marina Battery-Operated Air Pump

Marina Battery-Operated Air PumpI have a few different sized tanks (from 5 gallons to 250 gallons) and purchased several of these from a local pet store in preparation for Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene. I ended up not needing them, but they were a blessing when our power went out from the recent Halloween snow up in the northeast 5 days without electricity. They will last pretty long on 2 D batteries I would say 12-16 hours. They were loud in my opinion, but a good emergency backup system. You can hear them rattling when the battery supply runs low. They are best for tanks that are 10-20 gallons in size. I would suggest getting more than one if your tank is larger. On a side note, many of my prized tropical fish ended up dying not because of lack of oxygen, but from the sheer cold (we were out of hot water and heat as well for the 5 days), so we are now looking into a generator.

My daughter and I drove from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. with two discus in her Mini Cooper this winter. Our two major concerns were the cold weather and aeration. This small battery operated pump worked perfectly both in the car while traveling and in the hotel at night. The two D batteries only needed replacing every other day. After careful container preparation with the pump and hand warmers for heat, the fish made it beautifully to their new home on the east coast.

My home unfortunately is in an area where we are frequented by power outages due to high winds. This put me in a worrying tizzy for my goldfish tank, and so I looked into getting a battery-powered pump. I decided to give this one a try. (Fortunately every time I've used it the power was shut back on within the day, so I haven't had to leave it on for an extended period.)

It was easy to turn on and off, but the airstone that came with it was flimsy so I decided to attach a larger airstone to the nozzle (I don't think it made a whole lot of difference though). It produced a small amount of bubbles, about as much as you'd expect a pump of this size to make. But it did its job in that it kept the oxygen in my tanks up in place of the filter, and I have yet to lose a fish while using it. One con, it is rather noisy. It's nothing obnoxious but it is noticeable.

I cannot say for certain if it's effective for long periods of time yet. However I think it's safe to say it'd be more effective in smaller tanks, around 10-15. For anything above a 20, I'd recommend buying two of these to be safe.

Had to said that I am surprised with this product, I first bought it to make sure that it was available in case of any power outage in my home due to weather condition, since I live in Puerto Rico and this is the peek time of storms and so. Yesterday I was able to try it, power out and pump on, at first I thought battery will run out and it will be noisy, wrong in both, it last for as long as 12 hours+(the time power was out)and you can hardly hear it, fishes seem happy around it lots of bubbles out of the tiny stone, the only thing I can said is that the tube is short, although not a big issue for something that is for emergency only. Great Product overall!! Very happy with it! :-)

I'll have to await a power outage for the true test of this product. but ti seems to be adequate for my needs.

Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Activated Filter Carbon 22oz.

Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Activated Filter Carbon 22oz.Pour half a cup of this stuff for every 10 gallons into a nylon mesh bag, rinse well under tap water, listen to it sizzle, (sign of good carbon!) and place into your filter as the last step of filtration. In other words, carbon is a chemical type of filtration and should be the last thing your filtered water passes through before it goes back into the tank. I place mine on top of my biological medium in my Aquaclear filter. I watched my "tea" colored water clear up in just over 2 hours when I placed this in my filter. You should always have fresh carbon in your filter and change it about every 4 weeks. This way you don't find yourself scrambling to get some in the tank to clear it up before company comes over! ;) Nothing else to say, it's good stuff.

Como Reusable Round Aquarium Fish Tank Biochemical Filter Filtration Sponge Black

Como Reusable Round Aquarium Fish Tank Biochemical Filter Filtration Sponge BlackI have tried different vendors sponge filters and now have them in all my tanks. I like that they operate quietly as the add more oxygen to the tank. They are easy to use and keep the tank cleaner and my fish healthier. It is easy to clean them and economical as you can reuse them and only need to replace about every six months. My fish and shrimp also enjoy eating the food that catches on them during feeding time. They have made fish and water creatures so much easier to care for. I will keep purchasing them and recommend them to others.

API PH Down Aquarium PH Adjuster, 16-Ounce

API PH Down Aquarium PH Adjuster, 16-OunceWorks just as described! Will be back for more, i'm already almost out!! Keep em stocked for me ha ha

I have a 150 gallon tank and kept having my ph rebound. I had to use almost the whole bottle and I don't think I was supposed to. Ended up buying proper ph 7 and that seems to be doing the trick.

Buy API PH Down Aquarium PH Adjuster, 16-Ounce Now

As opposed to some other reviewers, we have never had an issue with this product. Fish are very sensitive to pH change and, most likely, people that have had issues have used the product incorrectly. First, take the pH of your pond or tank (especially pond) at least 3 times during the day, morning, noon and night. The pH can change as much as 0.03, so always start from your highest pH. Second, do not alter the pH by more than 0.01 per day, waiting 2 or 3 days in between additions is even better. Third, don't look for an "ideal" pH, fish can survive in a wide range and sometimes your tank or pond is just a bit high. It's better for the fish to live in a pond which has a high pH than one that has a constantly changing pH. Remember kH as well (alkalinity) plays a factor, so be careful about balancing. That said, if your pH is high and your ammonia is high, use of this product can be very helpful. Ammonia is far worse at high pH, at pH of 9.0 and high ammonia can be deadly and if you face a situation such as that combination, this product, used correctly, can be very helpful.

It does work... I have tap water in a 75 gallon freshwater fish tank with an 8.4 PH level (extremely HIGH)... I used 150 ML (over 5 ounces) of this product and the Ph level is now 7.2. Now I can use my tap water for my fish.

THANX

Perfecto Manufacturing APF34305 Glass Canopy Aquarium, 36 by 18-Inch

Perfecto Manufacturing APF34305 Glass Canopy Aquarium, 36 by 18-InchMy husband asked me to write this review because he was relieved when we got it.

This glass canopy lid for the aquarium is ONE PIECE. It is hinged in the middle. This means, you don't have to worry about lifting the side to feed the fish and having the whole thing come up. It also opens to the front (as most aquarium lids should) instead of the middle (yes, I've seen this). It is heavy enough that there is no movement when you open the lid to drop food in or whatever you need to do inside the tank.

We topped it with Aqueon Coralife 05619 Aqualight T5 Freshwater Dual Lamp Fixture, 36-Inch which fits perfectly with this lid. We have absolutely no complaints about this lid. It is a good, solid lid that looks great on top, had a good plastic, raised handle. We highly recommend it!

Might be an okay cover, but I wouldn't know since it arrived with pieces of glass falling out of the box. Not sure whose idea it was to ship a glass aquarium cover in a box without a "fragile" or "glass" label and with only a single piece of crinkled paper for padding, but this product is no good unless it arrives in one piece.

TOM Aquarium Accessories Gardener Large Multi-Tool-grabbing & trimming

TOM Aquarium Accessories Gardener Large Multi-Tool-grabbing & trimmingI got this set since it was cheap and seemed versatile. I ended up buying the nicer ones later. These work ok for real small stuff, but not moving chunks of live rock or even corals. I would say just for frags. Even the grabbing handle is somewhat awkward. I prefer the better ones with a squeeze handle and more like suction cup looking ends on pinchers.

Purchased this more for fun rather than anything else, wasn't expecting much from it, but at the same time though it would be a nice tool to keep me from having to immerse my entire hand in the tank when I wanted to adjust one thing. First of, the scissor tool is worthless, I attempted to trim some of my underwater plants and the scissor jammed instantly. The pincer works pretty well for picking up smaller objects, as well as grabbing plants to bring to the surface.

Buy TOM Aquarium Accessories Gardener Large Multi-Tool-grabbing & trimming Now

The pincers quickly become inoperable. I have to open it by hand and reset it so it can grab something else. It's mechanism broke by the 1st week I had it, with only a few uses.

The jaws do not open very far and after one use they no longer open at all on their own. I have to open them and then get the tongs into position and try to grab whatever I am after. if I miss I have to bring the entire unit out of the water. Manually open the jaws and then try again. It's still better than sticking my entire arm in the tank though. It would have been a great product if the jaws did not stick.

I've had reef pickers and most fail... get's rusted, fall apart etc... this product is a step above the rest but still a little lacking.

Ive had it for a few weeks now and i like it, its nimble and does just what i would expect.

I also like the fact the picker is slightly angled for getting between rocks.

The only downside is that sometimes when you close the pickers it doesnt spring back open when you release it.

It's just a slight inconvenience as you have to manually open it near the trigger. If not for that, this would get 5 stars from me.

Aquarius1 1 Gallon Tank Aquarium System AQ11104BLK

Aquarius1 1 Gallon Tank Aquarium System AQ11104BLKI bought this kit for my first aquarium set-up in my office which has no windows. All of the pieces are pretty cheap and flimsy feeling, but that's a given seeing how I only paid $10 for everything. In the box, I received an air pump, air line tube, light hood, tank, filter plate, air diffuser, riser tube, and three different paper documents. The directions are pretty straight forward and easy to understand, but I had to research the extraneous details like how to make the water safe for the fish. Once I finally set everything up (about an hour to get it right), the Betta fish was pretty happy and everything looked good. No leaks!

The kit comes with a 90-day limited warranty and a notice that you cannot return the product to the store. To make any returns or exchanges, they want you to work directly with the manufacturer. I don't know how easy or hard this would be since I didn't need to return or exchange.

Cons:

1. I don't like that the filter plate is so light that it practically floats. It made setting up the tank pretty difficult because the jewel decorations kept getting under the plate making the riser tube too tall and lop sided. To get past this, I weighted down the filter plate with binder clips which worked perfectly. I suggest sticking to sand or regular rocks and not jewels for anyone else.

2. I can't really seem to find a clear answer on this, but the lightbulb that comes with the kit makes the water pretty warm. After a few days, this brown stuff (Diatoms?)started growing all over the tank and even on the fish! I turned the light off and the brown stuff is now practically gone just after a few days. Upon further research online, I found that you're supposed to turn the light off for a few hours each day. This might be a good tip to add to the directions for the kit.

Overall, I think this product is ok for a child or a first timer like myself. The price is right and I don't feel ripped off, but I'm definitely looking forward to graduating to something more complete.

Received this as a gift, and bought a 3 month old "Betta Baby" from Petco for it. So far, Darbie absolutely loves his tank, swimming all over and loves to hide in the little hollow barnacle ornament I got for him. The tank's footprint is small (about the size of a sheet of printer paper cut diagonally) so you can't really put much in it. Here's a little information on all the parts included:

Tank: Mine actually feels fairly sturdy, and so far I haven't had any issues with the plastic fogging up like I have with other acrylic tanks. Also, it's not blue like the picture unless you put a blue background or blue gravel in it. You're only going to want 1 lb of gravel; I've got two in there and it's a little too much.

Hood and light: The plastic plate to keep fish from zapping themselves on the light is sturdy and fit snugly inside the hood housing; you've really got to press it in there. You'll know it's seated right when there's about 1/4" between the edge of the hood and where the plate sits. The light does produce a lot of heat and replacing it with an LED bulb works very well for limiting how hot the tank gets. Personally, I use a 7.5W Hydor heater under the gravel, which keeps the tank at a balmy 80 degrees without any help.

Plant: not included in the package, and not even listed on the box; Amazon's product description is in error there.

Air pump, tube, and air stone: The air pump is, strangely enough, one of the quietest I've ever found. And you can't buy this anywhere else. It's good that they provide a replacement part order sheet inside the box the tank comes in; you can order all the individual parts separately for fairly cheap. I don't know why some of the reviewers expressed trouble finding replacement parts when the manufacturer provided a reorder sheet; most manufacturers don't do that. The air stone is good quality and diffuses water quite well, and the air hose is flexible and supple. One of the best quality aeration kits I've received in a tank kit yet.

Filter: Useless. This is the only part of the set up that I am very disappointed in. It works based off of a very basic vacuum principle: you stuff the air stone down the tube, hope it stays, and plug it in. Because the stone fills with air, it floats to the top, which basically left me needing to wrap a rubber band around it to secure it in the tube. Nixed that idea fairly soon because the band started getting fuzzy and leaching things into the water. Ideally, the air stone would stay in the bottom, pumping air up, and the water would be carried up with the air, creating a current that pulls water through the filter plate. If this worked, it would work quite well with the addition of one more thing: filter cartridges. There's no floss, no screen, no foam, no sponge, and no carbon anywhere in this setup. The experienced DIYer could probably make filter cartridges, but I didn't bother because there's just not that much room to work with. And the filter plate does float uncontrollably. Very poorly designed, but I solved that problem by just plain not using it.

Again, 2 lb of gravel like I have will give you 2" of gravel in the bottom. I'd use between 1 lb and 1.5 lb, closer to 1 in order to get the standard inch that most pet stores and hobbyists will recommend. Regardless, Darbie absolutely loves this little tank and it'll be a great first home for him until he's big enough to need a larger one. It's perfect for little bettas, like growing fry or bettas that just never grew very big, and small enough that a child can fit it almost anywhere in his or her room. I'd say it's also durable enough to withstand standard use, though of course the kid that bangs things and pounds fish tanks to get the fish to move will probably crack it in a day.

Buy Aquarius1 1 Gallon Tank Aquarium System AQ11104BLK Now

I bought two of these aquariums today to keep in each of my kids' rooms. They have both been asking for their own pet, so thought I'd start simple and let them keep a betta fish in their rooms. The aquarium looks fine, gives large viewing area to see the fish. I do like that it came with a small lamp and pump, something not always included with aquariums this small. The tank is made of pretty brittle and flimsy plastic. Nothing has gone wrong, but I don't expect it to last long. The lid is ill-fitting, so must be very careful replacing it. I am surprised at the price on Amazon and online pet retailers, I paid half as much at the local big-box for identical product.

Overall, it will do fine for the kids' first pets, may even last a few years.

Buy it!!! When I ordered mine off Amazon I thought it was going to be a lot smaller and less quality. It actually looks really nice when you set it up and have everything going. I would recommend any one to buy this item. My fish loves the tank. It's worth the money.

Want Aquarius1 1 Gallon Tank Aquarium System AQ11104BLK Discount?

Installation was pretty simple. Two tips.

1. Airstone bubbler goes under the under gravel filter and into the tube. Just far enough so it stays in there. The air tube will tilt the filter because of the angle but the gravel will hold it down in place. I would recommend 2 lbs. Put just about under 2 inches of gravel.

2. There's a clear plastic piece that goes inside the black cover. You just pop it into place. Keeps water from touching the light bulb.

Pump is pretty quiet.

Also, if you use the light, only turn on for a few hours each day. If you leave it on, some brown stuff will start to grow.

Vibran-Sea African Flowering Cluster Aquarium Plant Assortment

Vibran-Sea African Flowering Cluster Aquarium Plant AssortmentThis is a set of 3 plants that are green, orange and purple. I love the shapes of the unique leaves; they look real. The colors are vibrant but not so bright as to look fake. I would love to someday have real plants, but until then this is the best choice.

I have a 25 gal freshwater tank which was so boring before I decorated with 12 silk plantssmall, med and large sizes. I arranged the plants around 2 black lava rocks and added a blue background. The colors of the plants look nice with the black rocks and the blue background. The plants fan out from either side of the rocks and sway in the water.

The colors of the plants make the colors of the fish stand out more. Plus the fish seem to feel more secure because they can hide among the plants, like they would in the wild. They search the leaves and under the plants for missed food. There are lots of little areas among the plants for the fish to explore and hide. As a pet owner, I feel like it is my responsibility to provide the most comfortable home I can. My little guys seem relaxed and seem to like having these silk plants in their aquarium.

I am happy with these plants. I like the way they add color and texture to my aquarium and my fish like having a more comfortable home.

.

I am a fan of Vibran-sea silk type plant decorations. They are wonderful colors that look even better once they are in the tank. They are easy to clean and convenient solid weight on the bottom. Perfect for my needs since I don't use gravel.

Wizard Castle - Large

Wizard Castle - LargeI ordered this castle to put in my 50 gallon tank that at the time held a Spotted Pleco, Pepper Cory and a few Glo Fish. When I received the castle it looked great, there were some sharp edges on the outside that I just sanded down until I was happy with them, washed the deco and put it in the tank. Within hours of putting the castle in my tank I noticed a lot of little pieces of plaster floating around, I just scooped those out and didn't think much of it. But then a few days later I started seeing large pieces of both the inside and outside of the castle floating around. I also started to realize just how cloudy my water had gotten since putting it in.

After having this castle for about 4-5 days I decided I wanted to return it because the waterfall was beginning to break off, so I contacted their Customer Service. The representative then proceeded to ignore my request for a return and tell me about how that sort of thing (their product falling apart) can happen and they use products that should be fine for fish to digest and I shouldn't worry about my fish getting cut up on the sharp edges. She also asked me to send along some pictures of what was happening. So I did.

About 3 or so days later she responded saying that she didn't see a problem. I then messaged her back saying that I don't appreciate how casual she was being about this product that I paid $50 for breaking to pieces and that I wanted a refund. She then proceeded to tell me that if I had wanted a refund I should have done it within 7 days of purchase, which I COULD have had it returned in if not for her giving me the run around.

Now I have a $50 piece of crap sitting on the table next to my fish tank.

So, in short; horrible product, and bad customer service. I'll never be buying from here again.

It was a bit smaller than I expected. I couldn't even fit inside the front door and I'm actually a wizard.

S5 CO2 Diffuser Aquarium Glass Carbon Dioxide Reactor

S5 CO2 Diffuser Aquarium Glass Carbon Dioxide Reactori bought this thinking that it will help increase the surface area for my co2 system by making smaller bubbles. however, the pressure created by a DIY co2 system is not strong enough to push through the stone on top of the diffuser. if you had a co2 canister which already has pressure in it, like the ones made by fluval, then this diffuser would be ideal. howver my system doesnt. so all the air just ends up trapped in the co2 bottle. this is a great product, just not for my aquarium

PROS:

Under pressurized CO2, these are cool! The bubbles spin around the spiral, then stream out the top. My angel fish like to stare at it.

CONS:

Under low-pressure DIY bottle system, this diffuser is kind of worthless. It makes a single stream.

You need a strong tube. There's a lot of pressure built up to get this to work. I think its the spiral that requires the extra pressure.

Under high-pressure CO2 tanks, this look much nicer. The bubbles are still kind of large compared to the Fluval ceramic disk co-88 bubbles.

I've broken 2 of my 3 already. These diffusers are heavy so you need to put some airline tubing suction cups on them. Good luck. Depending on how the glass melted, there may or may not be room to slide one on.

Disappointed.

Kyjen Outward Hound Booster Seat

Kyjen Outward Hound Booster Seat, Small, BlackGREAT PRODUCT!!!! What a wonderful idea! I have a 10 lb. Chihuahua who's goal in life is to sit on my lap while I am driving. This, of course, is not the safest idea ever so I end up spending the entire trip repeatedly taking him off my lap and putting him on the other seat. Also, my seats are slippery so he slides while on them even when I try to put his blanket down. I was looking for a solution because he is in the car a lot and I wanted him to be safe and comfortable when I stumbled on this product. It is adorable and reasonably priced. It arrived in less than a week. It was very easy to set up, just adjust the straps and hang it from a headrest. It does not lay on the seat but sits up higher, approx 6 inches off the seat. It has a little cushion in the bottom but my dog is spoiled (if your reading this then your dog probably is too! lol) so I set down a nice thick fleece blanket on the inside of it. This also makes it easy to keep clean as I don't have to clean the seat but instead just throw the blanket in the wash once in awhile. It has a safety strap that clips onto his harness so he can't jump out. It only took him a few minutes for him to get used to. Now he loves it! It puts him up higher so he can see out of the windows easily. On longer trips it is just big enough that he can curl up into his little ball of cuteness and take a nap. It has a little front pocket to store whatever in. Overall it is just a great product and I am so glad that my little angel is safe, comfortable and happy and that I can continue to bring him everywhere.

The small is just big enough for my 10 lb dog so if your dog is any bigger I would suggest going up to the medium seat.

This is not a high end dog seat. Not really padded around the top, but ver functional.

The most vital thing to know is this is to be used with a harness on the dog that you clip the dog in with. NOT to be attached to the collar. It was clearly printed on the box and instructions but in reading some of the reviews it sound like people clipped in the dog by the collar. This poses a strangulation hazard to the dog if they try and jump out and get tangled. Also without a harness in the event of a car crash a harness will keep the dog secured where a collar would not.

We had 2 of these seats for our Pomerainians and then we added another dog. It attaches easily to the car seat around the head rest and you can still fold down the seat if needed when not in use.

The build quality is terrible. It installed easily, but one of the snaps broke from her wiggling during the first trip we took. She's only 12 pounds, I expect better for something for dogs "up to 20 pounds".

Aquatop PF40-UV Hang-On Filter with UV Sterilization

Aquatop PF40-UV Hang-On Filter with UV SterilizationBought this Aquatop filter through Amazon. Product description indicates that the UV bulb comes with the filter (as does the packaging). The product I received did not have a UV bulb. Grrrr. Yes, Carbon pellets are strewn everywhere in box due to the shipping process. Had to spend another $12 bucks to purchase another UV bulb. I will update this review once the bulb arrives and I begin to use the filter.

I was originally going to purchase a uv sterilizer only unit. That is, until I saw the AquaTop hob/uv sterilizer. At present AquaTop is the only company in the world that manufactures a line of hob/uv sterilizers.

I purchased a PF25UV for one of my aquariums and it did such an excellent job, that I have since purchased a PF40UV and a PF15UV for two other planted aquariums.

These filters work quite well at keeping the water crystal clear. However, if you want biological filtration, you should keep an additional filter on your aquarium such as a canister.

Like some of the other people who commented here, my PF40UV came with the carbon bag open and carbon pieces scattered all over the box.

The chassis also had a scratch at the back of it, however, not deep enough to penetrate through the filter chassis.

These filters are not inexpensive for an hob. However, when one considers the price of a stand alone uv sterilizer of moderate quality, which also requires a power head, these filters are a bargain especially since the uv sterilizer feature isn't hype it really does work.

And the hob/uv sterilizer offers portability as well, so that you can move it from one of your aquariums to another.

Highly recommended.

I received this unit with a broken light bulb, broken filter(pieces were all over the place) and the housing had a large crack. This is definitely a low quality filter. I would not recommend this product. I'm going to cut my losses by returning it and purchasing from a better brand.

Does a nice job as a regular filter, but the uv part is awesome cleared the algae in my tank in a day great buy needs to be set on the right angle or some of the water just pours out the intake portion hence 4 stars

AGA Fluorescent Black Hexagon 20 Gallon Hood

AGA Fluorescent Black Hexagon 20 Gallon HoodI was resurrecting an old fish tank and needed the top which had been broken. None of the local pet supply stores had it or was able to order it so I was happy to find it on amazon. I may not have read the description carefully but that worked in my favor as I was pleasantly surprised the light was included. Fast, reasonable shipping

Hagen Marina Betta Aquarium Starter Kit, Geo Bubbles

Hagen Marina Betta Aquarium Starter Kit, Geo BubblesThis product should not be used for betta fish. It was recommended to us by the pet shop employee, and since we'd never owned bettas before, we bought it. Very cute tank, but the problems that come with it are enough to kill the fish. We learned this the hard way.

First, the 1/2 gallon tank is way too small. Betta enthusiast websites say to get at least a 2-5 gallon tank.

Second, the product instructions recommend weekly 50% water changes (not nearly enough to clear the toxins), room temperature water (bettas prefer about 78-80 degree water), and say nothing about testing pH, ammonia or nitrate/nitrite levels. If any of these get out of whack, the fish becomes stressed and can easily succumb to bacterial diseases.

Third, the rocks that come with the tank are way too small--they are hard to clean properly without getting them everywhere. The fish might even be able to swallow some of the tiny fragments.

If you want healthy bettas, skip this "starter tank." Buy a larger tank with a heater, filter, larger gravel and water testing kits.

This is one of the best looking half gallon tanks on the market.

It would be better if made of glass but it looks amazing. would strongly suggest getting the LED light kit for it as it makes it a much better tank.

IT IS TOO SMALL FOR BETTA FISH, my particular one I had filled with grey sand, and various rocks and sea shells my girlfriend had found on the beach, and amarimo moss ball, with a pregnant ghost shrimp. I had a betta in here (female) and it clouded the tank. I had transported that female betta into a tank that was planted, and modified a 1 gallon filter to work in a betta bowl no water changes needed (purigen filled bag instead of carbon so reusable and re-bleachable).

I purchased another one I store under a t5 grow light next to my herb garden to grow coral frags in. id recommend this tank for anything other than betta fish, pico-aquascapes, baby mallies, or pregnant shrimp, a chaeto raising tank or frag tank is all good

just no betta. ignore the idiots griping about getting a 5 or 10 gallon for a betta that is just fish/aquarium snobbery you only need about half a gallon...but if you're lazy like me and hate weekly water changes on freshwater fish (salt water tanks need it reguardless) then just throw your betta in a gallon tank with a plant and filter, remove the carbon rocks and replace with purigen and never worry about water changes or cleaning ever again

This betta tank is very cute. I love the design on the back and the gravel center. Every time I walk into my room I smile because it's such a great looking tank. It is really small, and I wouldn't recommend it to many fish, but I think it is perfect for a betta. I think Sprite(my betta) is enjoying it as much as I am! Sprite has been in many different environments. First he was in a bowl without a filter and was hard to clean.(This tank is so tiny that it is very easy to clean!) So then we moved him into filtered bowl. When we moved, he lived in a tiny environment. You know those little cylinder shaped things that you buy the betta in? He was in there for weeks. But after we unpacked his old filtered bowl, he lived in there some more. But then one night the bowl mysteriously cracked and the water leaked out. He is lucky to be alive! So then we got this Marina Betta Aquarium, and it's perfect. I think we finally found the place where Sprite will spend the rest of his life in!

Really not a good choice for betta or goldfish (as I've seen someone use it for that). Goldfish are a lot of maintenance and need 30+ gallons and water changes every other week. Betta need at least 2.5 gallons with a filter (unless you change every day or every other day with safe water) and a heater (unless you live somewhere where the room temperature will keep the water between 70 and 80 degrees. They also are much happier with decorations, especially places they can hide in and explore. The only thing I can thing of that is suitable for this tank is a marimo moss ball. I wouldn't put any animals in this.

SunPaq Dual Actinic Aquarium Lamp 65watt

SunPaq Dual Actinic Aquarium Lamp 65wattI have a current USA Orbit 2 x 65W power compact hood on a 29Gal tank. The bulbs arrived well packaged. I bought both the dual actinic (this product page) and the dual daylight 65w 4 pin bulbs.

Bulbs were clearly sunpaq retail and not off brand or OEM. They inserted with almost no force into the socket. The pins were covered with a dark paste and then covered by a cap. Remove the cap and slide into the socket, no problem. Hope you weren't supposed to wipe off the paste. I didn't. On an orbit hood you slide the bottom clear plastic panel out no fasteners to unscrew, very nice.

All of the power compact bulbs lose a good percent of light output over time. Conventional wisdom is to replace bulbs after a year. My old bulbs were also sunpaq of the same frequency range and about 18 months old. The new bulbs are enough brighter than the old bulbs that some mushrooms I have reacted by curling up. Think I'll cut the hours of light for the first few days.

Net: I'm happy. Shipping time was as expected. Product as expected. Product packaging was excellent.

fast service good quality same as description.I dont know what else to said But I need to submit a minumun words on my review :) Thanks!!!

Zilla 11819 Corner Litter Scoop

Zilla 11819 Corner Litter ScoopThis is the best cat litter scoop I have ever used. I love the way it gets into corners easily. The only way they could make it better is to make it out of metal.

I thought this product would be a little longer and noticed that the front of the scooper( triangle shaped) is kind of flimsy. I don't know if it will pick up heavy litter. After trying this product it is not made for scoop types of litter. It would not separate the clean from the dirty litter. I would not buy it again. It is just wasting space and I will probably give it to goodwill.

We use it for ferrets' corner litter pan. Works great in those corners, and most corner litter scoops sold out there have huge gaps which the ferret litter falls through. This one doesn't; so it works great. But what really impressed me was the customer service from ordering from this company, Zilla, through Amazon.

I use this for my ferrets' cage litter box. It has high back/sides, faces inward, and is secured to the side of the cage; so scooping it with a normal cat scoop wasn't really working. This makes it much easier and I end up with less unused litter mixed in, which will save me $ on litter.

I've been looking for a litter scoop that didn't have big holes in it because sometimes you can't get everything with them. I love this scoop, it gets everything and also the corners. It's sturdy and easy to handle. I would recommend this scoop to anyone.
