Well my Goniopora has yet to react to this food. It shrivels up n descends inside. Others may have different results as my Goniopora is a Stokesi species and is only a few years old.

API Melafix Antibacterial Fish Remedy

My betta developed popeye. It was bad and ugly. I had purchased a heater because I thought he was just cold, but soon his eye bulged out. I did daily water changes and the bulge lessened after 3 days. Then I got the melafix in the mail and started adding that to the water changes. After a week or two the eye went back to normal. I thought my little friend was a goner for sure, but he's doing well and even got his appetite back.

One of my fantails had a damaged tail fin right at the point where the two upper lobes bifurcate. I don't know if he got bit by one of the other guys or how it happened. Everyone else in the tank was fine and acting normally.

As soon as I saw the damage, I checked water conditions immediately and all was well no ammonia, pH normal, etc., etc. Rather than take a chance, I thought it best to treat for fin rot as that area just seemed like a strange place for a bite or nip. I decided to try Melafix first before anything more drastic. The instructions said treat for 7 days then do a 25% water change. The guys get a regular partial weekly water change anyway, so I did a partial water change, treated for 7 days and did another partial water change right on schedule.

The instructions say to repeat treatment if necessary; however, I decided to not re-treat as the damage seemed to be getting much better. Today is day 9 with no additional treatment and my sweet little fishie looks great! Not quite 100% but real close I'd say right around 98% cured. If I didn't know the damage was there, I couldn't tell the difference. Since I knew about it, obviously I was aware of what to look for, but right now he looks very, very good.

Since the only change made was the addition of the Melafix, I'd have to say that solved the problem.

I was skeptical when I bought this product and Pimafix when we noticed that our Glofish and Black Moors were sick. (They were that way when we bought them) It quickly helped regrow the fins that fin rot had taken from the Black Moors. We used it in conjunction with Pimafix and it worked great. It was also a great help when we accidently put a Puffer Fish in the tank with them. The Puffer tries to eat the Black Moors and tore up the fins and left gashes in one of them. This is something that all fish owners need to keep on hand. I had a goldfish that got really BAD fin rot, another one of my fish wouldn't stop picking on him and so his fins started to rot from his wounds. It got so bad that he hardly had any fins left! Then 2 years later, the poor guy got stuck in the pump because he was sick and couldn't free himself. The pump damaged his fins pretty badly. I got this for a 10 gallon tank with a splitter (two male bettas), and I wanted a large plant to split the view so the bettas do not see each other easily. This plant looks great and is very large, (I had to tuck it in the back to keep it under water, since it wanted to go higher then my 10 gallon tank). It has a plastic bottom, and due to the size takes a little effort to bury it under the gravel, since the gravel does not want to stay in the plastic cup. However, once you get it in it looks really nice in the tank and the aquarium's lid light really looks good bouncing off of the leaves, making it a very nice bright blue coloring to the tank). I got this with two purple/blue plants to cut off view from the two sides of the betta tank. It works perfectly and the male betta loves swimming through the leaves and laying against it in the tank.

In the end this is large plant and looks nice in my tank, it helps cover the splitting wall for my 10 gallon betta tank, and the betta seems to love to swim through it and lay on the plant. It is a great addition to the tank and it seems to have received the approval of Tofu, my male betta (the other betta is named Sushi). :) Highly recommend!!

My theme in my guppy tank is blue and purple. This so far has stayed together, and looks very pretty.

So far I have few things to say about this filter system. 1: I cant find the replacement cartridges anywhere else. 2: the connectors that attach the plates are really tight fits. 3: The system works exactly as it should though I recommend some sort of media under it to help process the waste that collects there. It does exactly what it is supposed top do and in my larger tank wiht a 55gal sized one I even have a turbo jet hooked up to is. Keeps the tank much cleaner.

It didn't come with the pump or long enough hoses, but that's just what I assumed was going to be in it. It's not their fault it didn't come with it. But, whatever... sometimes I'm over-critical. But, yeah... already had a hose and then just got a fuel hose connector and some quarter inch hose and boom! Bubbles through tubes in the back of my fresh water fish tank. Oh, joy.

So I bought this filter a few days ago. This is the first wet dry filter I've bought, though many of my friends have or have had wet drys in the past. I finally had time to install it today. The instructions that come with the filter are pretty horrible; it looks like a 5 year old drew a picture of a wet dry filter and added captions. Luckily I've seen enough wet/drys in my life to know how it works and how it should be put together. I paired it with a marineland NJ1800 pump with variable flow and with a max flow rate of 474 gph. I figure since I have to lift the water up a few feet from the sump that would be close to the 300 gph of the overflow box.

The filter went in without much issue. I had a clearance issue but thats not an issue with the filter so i had to trim the pvc inserts they give you for the overflow line. Also perhaps my pump is too powerful but the output nozzle from the filter needed a clamp as it would constantly leak. I trimmed my lines to size and so far no problems. The pump is running full open and the overflow box seems to keep up without much issue. I had a issue with the u-tube having an air bubble in it and for the life of me I was unable to get it out but I poured a lot of water in the overflow box and it pushed the bubble out. The reason I give this 4 stars was because of the leaking of the nozzle and the poor instructions.

The pre-marked waterline is deffinetly a plus as I don't want to spend all day trying to figure out the best water level. So far I like the filter and will write another review after a few weeks. That review will be mainly about performance of the filter once its been run for longer than a few hours.

I love this system I had to do a lil modification to fit my needs but it works great I bought a longer return tubing put in on a ball valve to control the water because my pump was pumping water quicker than it was filling in the w/d all in all recommend it

To get enough lighting to match my compacts, I needed 2 of the true lumen led's. I bought the blue/white mix and the 12k white. They do a great job on my 75 gallon tank. I have fish and coral. The hammerhead coral has taken off since installing them. The mushroom coral has retracted some (which I wanted). Tough to say how all of the different corals will react, but for me it was a good match. The size is unbelievable. Going from a large compact fluorescent to two thin strips an inch and a half wide is a great bonus. No more CF bulb replacement either.

Disappointed.

This is an expensive product, but several times per day more than half of the LED lights go off.

Hagen Marina Flexible Coil Brush

It looked okay, but within a few minutes of use the end of the brush came off leaving it stuck at full length inside of the plastic tube I was cleaning. Now this wasn't a press fit so there really wasn't much pressure on the brush that would have caused it to come off. It just came disconnected from the long steel rod. No way to fix it that I could see or trust that it wouldn't happen again. Donated it to the trash can. Maybe two stars is too much.

I bought this for my husband to clean the fish and turtle tanks and he loves it. It fits into all the small and curved tubes and filters. We looked at all the pet stores and the only place it can be found is online. He gives it 5 stars!

to really get crap out of tubing the brush could stand to b a bit less soft. It does flex well to get thru tubing but If your trying to get coralline off it's not very effective unless you soak whatever in a strong vinegar bath for a good while first. Takes a bit of scrubbing for algae too! I also had the brush come off also inside my protein skimmer...luckily I could get some tweezers in the hole & pull it out! I got it screwed back in tight but now don't trust it as much!

To those that had trouble w/the brush coming off, if u just twist it back into the wire tubing it goes right back! Just tighten it REALLY hard & it'll stay! I've done that after it came off & it's been fine! Still needs to b a bit less wimpy of a brush though!!

Got sick of getting scratched glass with a cleaning magnet and started using a credit card by hand which works amazingly well, but I don't like having my arm in my reef tank all the time.

This is not rigid enough to scrape anything off. It twists and flexes. There's absolutely no way this would ever remove anything without a ridiculous amount of work. I tried removing light film algae from a reef tank. Tried removing film algae in a planted tank. Not even going to discuss a calcareous type of algae as it would be futile to try. Going back to the old credit card method.

Fine product but I wish it was straighter the curve at the blade end limits where I can use it in my reef tank.

I love the design and the concept. The colors in the image on your screen will be identical to the colors on your aquarium background when it arrives, very saturated for a nice effect.

Furthermore, the item arrived promptly.

That said, the resolution of the image is CRAP. I have to be honest. When I look through my fish tank, I can see the poor resolution quality just as I could when I was holding the background up in person and looking at it. Furthermore, the background arrived rolled up, and the roll was crinkled! Fortunately, I was cutting a small piece of this background out as I have a small fish tank, but nonetheless, if I were using the background to its full capacity I would have been angry. True, it likely wasn't sent by the manufacturer crumpled up, but the fact that it likely got damaged during shipping tells me that the seller needs to package it better.

I LOVE the design. I LOVE the shipping speed. But the image quality and the fact that the background arrived crinkled makes this an unacceptable buy for nineteen bucks. I'd pay no more than 8 dollars--or less than half of what I just paid--for it if I were to buy again.

This looks much better on the aquarium than even in the picture. Mine did arrive bent as if the box was crushed. I layed it out for a week to straighten (so it lost a star) before adhering it to the tank. I cut it down to fit a 20 gallon tank and used the oil sparingly on the cling. It took about an hour to get all the bubbles out with a kithchen spatula but the effect is worth it.

UPDATE

After 6 months this won't stay on the tank no matter what I do, edges curl and air pockets streak the background. I would not buy this again.

The resolution of the image is poor (aka blurry) but isn't a problem when seen from a distance. The image is very dark! You cannot see the details of the ruins or jungle plants like the in example photo. This image is nearly all black with some brown and gold accents such as the sun or reflecting water in the image. The size of this was wrong for my tank (40gallon.) It ended up being too tall, but not long enough. I used black paper to create a border to hide where the image was short on either side. I'm thinking of adding the ornaments since they might hide the exposed edges but since I'm not using this tank for fish...I'm not sure. Overall I really like the idea of these fantasy scenes since they are very different than all the other backgrounds which are rather dull. Needs to come in more sizes for larger tanks! Neat idea but certainly needs some work. I like this and my Tortoises seem to like the change. Didn't use the gel, just used tape. If this image was lighter so you could see all the details I would give this 5 stars for coolness, but you can hardly see the plants or anything.

The other reviewers lack a certain common sense. The price is for a box which contains 100' of the tubing, not per foot. Seriously, use your brain. No one is going to charge over $5,000 for 100' of tubing. I am embarrassed for the other reviewers that they actually thought that.

This company's price for this product as advertised is clearly outrageous: $50.75 per foot for 1 foot of 1/2" clear flexible plastic tubing (also adds a $6.05 shipping charge for a product that weighs 1.6 ounces). I previously ordered the product at a price of $1.79 per foot. Get your act together or pull this product off the Amazaon web site.
