I have been using this koi spring and autumn food for years and wouldn't use any other kind. They love it. I buy several bags at a time and store them in the freezer to keep them fresher. I did try sticks once instead of the pellets and the fish wouldn't eat the sticks. They love the pellets. I feed it from the time the water is between 42 degrees F. and 70 degrees F., then I gradually change them over to their summer food. I have koi, butterfly koi, shubunkins and comets.

Koi Food is expensive and yet the koi I have raised and cared for many years are valuable to me so I am careful what I feed them. This was a change in diet for my koi but they really like the food and I like the quality. This is definitely a product I will continue purchasing. Good packaging that kept food fresh.

Fish Mate 1000PUV Pressurized UV+Bio Pond Filter

I installed this filter in my 800 gallon pond and my water literally went from pea soup to crystal clear in 7 days! I was amazed at how clear it got the water. Super easy to install and hide so its not visible when looking at the pond. I would definitely recommend this for an inexpensive way to keep clear water. The only thing is they should mention you NEED TO BUY A PUMP as well. Fortunately I read that on someone elses review and purchased one with it, but would have been pissed if I found out and then had to wait another week for my pump to arrive. Overall, great product, would highly recommend.

I purchased two Fish Mate 1000 P (non UV) filters in 2006 for our two backyard 250 gallon koi ponds and they have been barely adequate. I also purchased two Pondlife Turbo-Twist 9 Watt Pond UV Clarifiers for controlling nuisance green algae. I also use a Danner Pondmaster PM1000 pre-filter on each pond and Danner Pondmaster Model 7 700 gph pump on each pond.

The molded plastic ports are thinly cast and prone to distortion from required hose clamps which eventually causes associated weakening and breakage. I contacted the manufacturer, Ani Mate, to obtain a new top cover and I was informed that the non-UV model is no longer supported and no replacement lid is available. I then ordered a Becket 7109810 750-Gallon Pressure Filter from amazon and to my surprise it readily rendered the afflicted pond to crystal clear clarity within two days!

It appears that perhaps Beckett's selection and use of 'Bio Balls' is superior to that of Pet Mate's use of volcanic lava-like rocks as a biological support medium. Regardless, I'm now definitely pleased.

There are a great deal of water conditioners out there on the market for the fish tank. This is one that I've used regulary since 1999. I use it to condition my water for water changes, topping off the tank and when setting up a new tank. It removes both chlorine and chloramine from tap water. It also reduces fish stress and heals any damaged tissue, torn fins, and skin wounds. It also replaces the natural secretion of slime that is interrupted by handling, shipping, fish fighting, or other forms of stress and reduces the susceptibility to disease and infection. It is a great product, which I have no trouble recommending to others. I usually buy the larger size, but when in a pinch I buy this size.

Overall a great filter. It does a great job for what I need it to do. I wanted to do a planted nano tank, and this is a great filter for it.

Only 2 draw backs for this.

#1 I needed some straight connectors, but the connectors (rubber ones) are 90 degrees. So my intlet and outlet set lower in the water than I would like because I put it on a 5.5 nano. But that is the only complaint.

*#2 the smaller clips on mine like to pop off. But they snap back on easy, but aggravating, not a big deal in the grand scheme.

The capacity is great and the water flow is perfect I think for up to 15 maybe 20 gallons. I like it because i dont have a HOB filter sitting above the tank. Even if I hang this filter (it comes with hangers) It sets below the tank. The back of this tank is painted black and the suction cups and fittings are hardly noticed.

Comes with ceramic media and a sponge and a filter pad. I think when the filter needs changing i will put floss and carbon in there because it would be cheaper than replacements. 3 tray compartment and easy to fit.

I will buy one or two of these for my 20 gallon when that filter dies.

Handy tips: if you piece it together make sure your pump is lined up with the hole on the media holder. I spent 20 minutes trying to figure out why it wasnt pumping.

when changing filters, be sure to rinse out the hoses. I change my filter once a month. After changing it, if I don't rinse the tubes debris is shot into the tank.

***Update***

After 8 months or so using the filter, I still love it, and its a breeze during tank maint.

*After working with the pump I know how to take it apart without popping the little clips off.

I have a 12 gallon salt water tank that came with a bio-wheel, carbon, and filter. My Nitrates were through the roof (in the red, 40 range) I come to find out bio-wheel are not need anymore if you have live rock & live sand which I have. bio wheels in the early stage can cause high nitrates, so I had to toss the bio-wheel filter out.

I search for Days for a good canister filter I was willing to pay big $$$ for one if it help with Nitrates, but most good canister filter are for big 50 gallon tanks. I had no choice but to get the PX-360 because it was the Only one I found for small tank like mine. When I saw its cheap price I thought for sure it wasn't going to work at all. But being able to pick what I can put inside the filter has helped a lot! I have ammonia pads, de-nitrate rock, & chemi pure in the filter and my Nitrates have dropped into the 20 range. I use to have to do water changes every 4 days to keep the nitrates from spiking. Now with the px-360 filter I only do water changes every 3 weeks, I might go every 4 weeks if the Nitrates drop more.

It is quiet, very quiet much quieter then my air pump, and super easy to clean. Best part it's so small it fits on the stand right beside the tank, I have a lighthouse in front of the filter so no one see it. Probably its best feature is being able to put any media you want inside & the long rubber hoses so you can put the filter behind, beside or under the tank to hide it. It also comes with hang on the tank feature but I like it sitting on the stand better.

I am using this canister filter on a 40 gallon filled to the top with 2 axolotls (salamanders) in the tank.

The PX-360 filter is rated for a much smaller tank, but I was looking for a canister filter that was not too powerful for the tank, as axolotls do not like a great deal of water flow (these salamanders like to chill out and meditate about the mysteries of life day after day after day....). I have two sponge filters on the aquarium as well, so I only have to open this canister up and clean it out about once every two or three months.

I bought mine in April 2011, and it is still running strong nine months later. I realize that this is a short length of time, but I decided to rate the canister filter anyway because--so far at least--it has done the trick, AND it is cheaper than the Zoo Med 511 filter, which was the other one that I was contemplating for this tank. I also own the Zoo Med 511 and am quite happy with it, but I am just saying that there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with this Finnex filter, which is a little more than half the price of the Zoo Med! Perhaps the Finnex company is keeping the price down to attract hobbyists because so few of us know anything about the company or their filters (or their heaters as they have those too)? I don't know, but I am writing this positive review because I just decided to buy another one of these canisters for a 25 gallon tank with fish, so I thought I should also put my mouth where my money is!!

I have had this Finnex PX-360 for nearly a year now. it works great, and properly maintained and cleaned it is very silent. I use it in conjunction with my 1.9 gallon Finnex planted nano tank in which I have freshwater shrimp with a CO2 injection system. The pressure from this unit was a little too fierce at first for my size tank. So using a drill bit I reamed out the output nozzles on the water spray bar to make them slightly larger in each case and this solved my over pressure problem.

You have to regularly clean this unit like any filter since the intakes and tubing can become clogged and when I notice it becoming a bit sluggish or making a bit of noise, I give it a throughout cleaning. In addition I periodically use a phillips screwdriver to dissassemble the impeller unit and clean it, and also the small 1/8" air return tube along side it which had become clogged on one occasion. Let's face it you have to be a bit DIY about these things, and when I see people complaining that the unit stopped working after x months then I think it is usually the case that it required a thorough cleaning by someone who is not shy about pulling the thing apart and identifying the problem.

These are crap they dont have the ring the others that come with the product do and the weave is so tight after just a day it's so clogged no water will flow through these cartridge filters. I'm Pretty sure we will have to buy another filter unit thanks to these s***ty filters. they have been nothing but a problem sice we got them.Do not waste your time or money buying these pieces of junk.

I had read the other reviews and purchased it assuming the change in design would not affect the performance of the filter element. At first I was happy and believed it was just as good as the original with the pressed ring built in. It's not, I now understand the purpose of that seemingly useless ring. The ring keeps the filter element material down off the suction hole in order to allow the entire filter element surface to filter. After installing this element my filter runs fine for a week or two and then degrades in performance until barely a dribble is coming out the spray head. Upon opening the filter the element is almost all white, except for one clogged circle where the pressed ring should be. I haven't found any of the original design so there is no option other than this design, but I solved the problem. I took a piece of pcv pipe a bit larger than the suction hole and drilled holes all the way around it as close together as I could in a ring pattern.Then I cut that ring off and inserted it as a spacer between the element and filter housing. It's maybe an 1/8th inch tall(maybe a little taller) so the holes are small but they opened up most the side of the ring still. It works great now, and the tank stays as clear as it used to.

so far it works great, I'm not sure about the rubber foam surrounding the air tube and weather it is safe for food or will decompose after a while. I will post back after a few months to see if its degrading. However that has nothing to do with the product, it flows plenty of bubbles and stays how you bend it, which is all I really needed. I may just replace them with air stones to be safe.

I'm very impressed with this hood. I bought this for a 29g tank that measures 30" X 13". This is a universal fit hood that sits on top of the frame (instead of sitting inside on the ledges). There are several plastic nubs that you break off depending on the brand so this seats perfectly. My hood hung over the back about 1cm but that was ok as it still covered everything and the back is hidden anyway.

I'm impressed with this hood as it's very high quality. The plastic is nice and strong and everything is well made. Everything works well. The light fixture is separate from the cover so you can remove it when changing the water. There is a strip of plastic in the back that can be cut for cord and air tubing access. I waited a long time to get a 30" hood because they're pretty expensive and I'm very glad I got this deal. This is my second Perfecto brand hood and I like their hoods very much.

It isn't as accurate as an actual PH test kit with the two separate additives and beakers. It seemed accurate for about a week and then showed the water to have a dangerously high PH. When I tested with the traditional methodthe PH was where it should have been.

I give it two stars just because it was accurate (if only for a week).

I found that this pH checker was not as accurate as the one that I bought from Pet Smart. The one from Pet Smart was made by Seachem. It was an Alert combo which contained two devices. One was for pH and the other was for ammonia readings. The dual pack was around 12 or 13 dollars. The pH checker lasts 3-6 months while the ammonia lasts for 1 year. While the Mardel is cheaper long term because it comes with 3 meters that each last 3 months I will choose the Seachem for accuracy.

For some reason, the company changed the "size" reading on this product. I was able to figure out what I needed and ordered them. They are easy to exchange in the pump and less of a hassle than those bags you must fill yourself. Depending on how many critters you have in your tank, they can last anywhere from one to two weeks. I'm really surprised that large chain stores don't carry this product. This is the best housing solution for Syrian hamsters we've found in years of looking. Combine this with a $10 glass aquarium and its the cheapest as well. Plastic "...trail" products are not durable, are a pain to assemble and hard to keep clean. Metal cages are durable but expensive and not as flexible. What we've done is combine Crittertrail parts with the platforms that come with this kit to get the same effect as a larger all-plastic cage. As for those who complain that the shelving gets chewed...um, duh...thats how these little guys explore their surroundings and that also tells me you aren't offering them an alternative to help wear down their incisors. Cleaning this setup is a snap, the cover comes off in one piece--along with any attached shelves & parts--giving you easy access to litter for changing. Housing potential mates next to each other allows Syrians to interact a bit without sharing the same cage--preventing fights b/w incompatible suitors. The biggest drawback to this product is the tendency for Syrians to "pitch-their-poop" if their on the second floor--but training them to use a corner box in the aquarium can minimize "collateral damage." Finally, rodent urine will eventually lead to rusting of just about any cage, but repaint & seal with quality non-toxic spray paints and you're good to go.

Great idea, but the plastic in the ramps and platforms isn't going to last much longer with my gerbils...they have chewed completely through one ramp and one platform. This would be a much better product if the ramps and platforms were made of a different (harder) material, or of wood. (The wood to give the gerbils something HEALTHY to chew on) Would be better if it came with an extra set of ramps and platforms until then.

I bought two of these for my kids hamsters and the one hamster does great climbing and doing everything the cage is for. The other hamster fell off the top when she started sliding and refused to go up again so now the cage is in the basement.

Its also not as easy to get to your hamster since if she is in the tank you can't just open the top and reach in unless you have super long arms so you must remove the entire top which for a kid can be tough. I worry that they will not hook it right and it will get knocked off and the cats will have lunch.

Often the hamster food ends up all over the place too since its set in the top part and if you are not completly steady it spills.

I would have given it 5 stars but my gerbils chewed the house up within a week or two and now after a couple of months they no longer have ramps. Currently, they're working on chewing up the shelves.

So I'm off to buy one that's entirely wire. Wish I had done that in the first place!

We have 3 rats, one naked rat, one albino white rat, and one dumbo rat. They were originally in a huge ferret cage until they all discovered how to squeeze through the bars. This thing is perfect, and I was surprised at how much stuff comes with it! The ramps are a great touch, and this morning when I woke up, they were all huddled up in the nice blue hut. The only thing I dislike is the bottle of water that comes with it, it's terribly small, and it's a pain to reach in there and pull the thing out all the time, so I just put the old bottle we originally had in there for them.

My favorite feature is that the bowl of food kind of locks into the top ramp, so they can't fill it with bedding and all sorts of yuck.

It took awhile to get here, but I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has small critters that need some more space. I will try to post a video here soon, but I see that another user already did that (which is what made me buy this).

Conclusion: FOR THE $25 dollars, this is a whole lot of stuff, and effectively doubles the size of your 10 gallon tank, easy setup, i just looked at the box and snapped everything together.
