All Glass Aquarium AAG29030 Versa Top, 30-Inch
As always, I know I can rely on All Glass Aquarium products to be well made!
It fit my 20 gallon long aquarium perfectly, and looks terrific! I got this for my 29 gallon tank and the glass part fits perfectly, however the clear plastic strip that attaches to the glass is about an inch to short from reaching the back of my aquarium. I called Aqueon and was advised that the brand aquarium that I have(Top Fin)was the reason it did not go all the way to the back. He said I could order a universal strip from smithandfoster.com and it would work. For now I put a piece of black electrical tape over the gap. Other than that I am happy with it, it looks so much better than the hood that came with the aquarium. BTW Aqueon was the only brand glass hood the store sold, you would think they would sell there brand glass hood to fit there aquariums so there customers could avoid this issue. I gave it 5 stars b/c it is no fault of the manufacturer.

Tetra ReptoFilter In-tank Filter 10i, for Terrariums up to 20 Gallons
Filter is Quiet.
Inexpensive.
Pre-Filters are available.
You can use reusable filter bags, a cheaper alternative.
Supplies are available at any given pet store.
CONS:
Filter will clog up, especially if you feed your turtle in the tank.
Expect to clean tank and replace filters about once a week.
Pre-Filter come in packs of three for about $8/ea can add up.
Cleaning out reusable filter bags, expect to be handling a significant amount of turtle goo.
I had my red ear slider since it was hatchling, about a year. I was broke and didn't much about turtle maintenance but judging by the name, ReptoFilter, and the fact that I found it in the Aquatic Turtle section, I bought it. Something is better than nothing. Turtles are deceptively messy. In the beginning, I has happy with the filter because it seemed to do the job right. As a plus, the filter is super quiet and the only time it made a noise is about the time it needs to be changed anyway. Although pre-filters are available, I found it cost-effective to clean out and refill reusable filter bags. I even fed my turtle in a separate tub to reduce the debris. In the beginning, everything was great.
As the turtle grew, so did the mess. And I found the filter having a hard time keeping up with my turtle. I had to unclog it a few times. Although, We'd make it a point every week to clean it, it took a significant amount of our time and energy to routinely to that. Ultimately, despite my efforts to try to maintain the filter as best as I could, the filter died on me. So, I got my funds together and got a three stage canister filter. I'm thankful for buying this filter, it got me by. Although canister filters come off pricey, there are better in the long run because you'll only be cleaning it out months at time.I purchased this for a pair of painted turtles to be housed in a 10 gallon tank and I am overly pleased. I find it to be a lot more powerful than anticipated, and it's extremely quiet. We have the tank in the same room where we sleep and it doesn't bother me one bit. I am a very sensitive sleeper also. The slightest of disturbances will awake me from the deepest of sleep. Regardless of where you keep the water level, it's as tranquil as ever.
This filter is so powerful that it usually sucks 1 inch chunks of cucumber right to it's grate. It does not harm any of our fish and it doesn't bother the turtles either. The refills are very affordable, and if you perform water changes regularly, this filter will do an exceptional job. I have no issues with the heavy duty suction cups, other than sometimes they suck to hard to the glass. I will usually have to give the cups a pinch to break the suction from the aquarium wall. Be careful, because if you pull the unit too hard the suction cups will pop right out of the holes in the back. They are easily placed right back into place, though.
I have owned fish tanks for over ten years and I find the Tetra Repto Filter (10 gallon) to be one of the most impressive I have seen. This unit is submersible, so you will need to get used to the natural process of algae forming on the cord, as well as the casing of the unit. The filter blends into the background and visitors hardly ever comment on the appearance. Like any other filter, you want to rinse out the (black) bio filter each time you do a (carbon) filter change. As long as you're not planning to use this for a much larger tank, I think you will be impressed too.

I have a female red eared slider and have been looking for a relatively inexpensive filter to occupy her 10 gallon tank. This filter is the perfect size. The filter suctions onto the side of the tank for extra support and takes up very little room. It's very quiet and extremely efficient. Over all I am very pleased with my purchase and so is my turtle. She loves to hang out under the waterfall.Read Best Reviews of Tetra ReptoFilter In-tank Filter 10i, for Terrariums up to 20 Gallons Here

This is a perfect fit for Lee's Herp Habitat (Large Size: 23 1/4" x 17 1/2" x 11 3/8"). It will fit in the back right or left hand corner with no space between the wall and island for your critters to accidently get stuck in. Suction cups in the back hold it snuggly in place. Filter itself is very quiet but the output will make some noise (it's meant for shallow water and you're going to get splashing). You can minimize this by stacking rocks up front to create a small water fall or 'planting' a small fake aquarium plant (bushy/leafy) beneath the output. Both options will also camaflouge the already non-obtrusive filter. I chose to do the later and it worked perfectly. Hardly a sound and our Fire Belly Toads love hanging out in the plant to sit under the flowing water.Friday, May 30, 2014

I put two of these in my 15 gallon tank for my blue ram cichlids, they apparently don't give a rat's ass about them, since they never go in them. In fact, none of my fish do, but they do look neat next to this statue that is in the tank made of the same material. I'm keeping them in there just in case the cichlids change their minds and start using them. They are nicely made.Want Underwater Galleries AUG6311 Cichlid Stone Square, Small Discount?

Vibran-Sea Flowering Willow Leaf Silk-Style Aquarium Plant, Large 13-14 tall, Yellow
I have a 25 gal freshwater tank which looked boring before I decorated it with 12 silk plantssmall, med and large sizes. I arranged the plants around black lava rocks and added a blue background. The plants fan out from either side of the rocks and sway in the water.
The colors of the plants make the colors of the fish stand out more. Plus the fish seem to feel more secure because they can hide among the plants, like they would in the wild. They search the leaves and under the plants for missed food. There are lots of little areas among the plants for the fish to explore and hide. As a pet owner, I feel like it is my responsibility to provide the most comfortable home I can. My little guys seem relaxed and seem to like having these silk plants in their aquarium.
I am happy with these plants. I like the way they add color and texture to my aquarium and my fish like having a more comfortable home.

A beautiful addition to any aquarium, this plant gives a very vivid and realistic look to it. The fish love it as well.I really liked the way this plant looked when I got it, it looks great in the water and moves around like a real plant would. I am disappointed because it has stained a lot. I've tried cleaning it, to no avail. I've read that you shouldn't use bleach to clean anything that will go back in an aquarium so it seems that there aren't too many other options. Nice looking plant if you can figure out a way to clean it.Want Vibran-Sea Flowering Willow Leaf Silk-Style Aquarium Plant, Large 13-14 tall, Yellow Discount?

Microbe-Lift NiteOutII for Home Aquariums
I read some other reviews here, stating that the water clouds up, I didn't ever have this problem. The solution itself is completely clear and odorless.I have been using the M-L NiteOutII for 2 months now. My fish are doing great. They look healthy and happy. Now, I always wonder whether the results would have been the same with a natural tank cycling without adding nitrifying bacteria from a bottle. All I can say is that I have no complaints about the M-L NiteOutII. My fish are doing just fine.

I wrote this review also under Nite Out II's sister product, Special Blend, and am copying it here because the 2 products go hand in hand.My buddy Bubba died. Bubba was a 13 inch King Kong Red Parrot Cichlid that was like a dog in a tank. When he died, I didn't wanted another fish right away so my tank sat empty for well over a year and was an eyesore. I finally decided to set the tank back up, but I was not in the mood to wait a month to achieve a good cycle with some silly goldfish or something. I went to my favorite aquarium shop and asked them what I could use to obtain a fast cycle...and NO I don't want that CYCLE stuff they sell at Petco. Without hesitation, the freshwater guru reached behind the counter and gave me 2 things. He gave me Special Blend and he gave me Nite Out II by the same company. (I posted a link for Special Blend below) He said they need to be used in conjunction to achieve a full cycle, and the dosing instructions are very clear on the bottle. He stressed that you MUST SHAKE THEM. This is basically a bottle of bacteria which tends to settle on the bottom of the bottle. No shake, no results. Read, read, read the bottle. It tells you to shake, tells you to keep the lights off for about 72 hours so that the light does not interfre with the bacteria's life cycle before they can establish and it tells you to use the Special Blnd on certain days and the Nite Out every other day. OH...and hold your nose. The rotten egg stink on the Special Blend will make your hair stand on end, but goes away quickly. Nite Out II is odorless. Anyway....within 2 weeks I had a gorgeous cycle. Ammonia, zero. Nitrites, zero. Nitrates, acceptable. Water, clear. I adore this stuff. I use it after gravel cleaning, water changes or filter media swaps and the beneficial bacteria seems to be healthy and active in doing their job. I did a little research on this company because I had never heard of them before, but it seems they have been in the pond industry for quite some time and just recently broke into the home aquarium market. And they mean business. They are not fooling around. I don't think I have ever seen a cycle occur so quickly.

I decided to try a soil substrate in my previously cycled tank and the ammonia shot up to the point that I had to do 2-3 water changes every day just to keep the ammonia under 1ppm. Even then, hours later, it would be climbing again. Apparently the gravel I topped the soil with was not a fine enough grain to seal the soil in well enough to slow down the ammonia from reaching the water column. I put sand on top of the gravel and started adding this product to my tank. Without any water changes, my ammonia dropped to .50 and stayed there. I couldn't believe it! For the first time in 2 weeks I went a whole day whitout a water change. I added another capful on day 2 and my ammonia dropped to .25. I did a 20% water change and now my ammonia is almost at 0. The sand helped, but the Microb-lift is what really stabilized my water. This stuff is the real deal!My tank was at 0,5,20 with a pH of 7.8. I did a 25% pwc and then used this product (double dose) and one day later my water tests 0.25,5,5. I wasn't looking to reduce NO3 and the bottle says it oxidizes NH3 and NO2 anyway. My bottle is black, not white (not that it matters but the directions could be different on different bottles?) and does NOT tell me to shake or to avoid light. I shook anyway for the second and finally the third dose because I figured since it had different bacteria in it I should homogenize. Still crazy high NO2. It also lowered my pH to 7.4. I'm ordering the API NitraZorb pouches and hope to get better results.Saturday, January 11, 2014
Tetra Crescent Acrylic Aquarium Kit
The Whisper Micro Filter works SO good, it has a Flow Control system which allows me to select a very low flow, perfect for bettas!
Unfortunately, the tank comes with a "medium" size filter, which is way TOOOOO big for the small tank. I know there is a "small" version of the Whisper Micro Filter, so I don't understand why Tetra didn't bundle it with this tank instead of the Medium size. :-S
The tank itself looks crystal clear, acrylic made, very resistant, and easy to clean. I recommend you to buy a special acrylic cleaner sponge since regular sponges will scratch it.
I was speechless when I first turned the LED Lighting Lamp ON, it is magnificent! Perfect room lightning at night. LEDs technology is awesome, it doesn't only lights better, but it saves a lot of energy compared to regular bulbs.
I love all Tetra products! They are definitely the best.Don't get me wrong by the three stars. This tank is great but the filter set up is not a good one. The design of the items for the tank make everything fit perfectly. There is even a slot for a heater cord. The problem is the filter mount when used has the top of the filter to high in the tank so that the top of the filter is the same level with the top of the open tank thus can SLOWLY leak water along the mount to the outside of the tank. Bottom line is use the suction cups only and you will be happy. Had I really known about how this filter worked I would have gone with something like a fluval U1 or U2.

As a first aquarium, it's pretty terrible. As a tank purchased purely for the fun of experimentation, with the hopes of re-homing some guppies, it's decent, and I don't regret the purchase. (I agree with the folks who say that bigger is better, for your first. Three gallons is harder to maintain, and is very, very limiting when it comes to fish selection, if you want them to live in a comfortable, happy environment. This tank has other problems, though, so if you are looking for your first aquarium, keep reading.)The filter (Tetra Whisper Micro, not 3i ... good luck finding cartridges) is half-way decent, and it is inevitably, being made of plastic, had marks in it. After cutting the surge protector on and off, the filter only half worked and I had to move it up to full power (no, do not run your filter on full power this is why people are having trouble with it and set it low on the hook). The hook is covering a suction hole remember this when you take it out for any reason, or you will have water everywhere. Don't use it without the hook, or the filter will sit on the bottom, and that's where its intake is located.
I am hoping a small power filter, such as the one Azoo makes, will fit the space. I haven't measured to be sure, yet. If not, I suppose I'll use a small sponge filter ("Lee's Round Dual-Action Foam Filter" is sold by Amazon, as are replacement sponges, and is supposed to be good for tanks up to 5gal UPDATE: I am now using this filter, and I like it a lot better). The given filter takes up a lot of space if you plan on putting any ornaments in. I just want plants. I might put a small shelter in.
That all being said, I have mine set up as a low-light dirted environment (more gravel, less dirt under the filter), and my microsword is relatively happy (it needs a stronger light, but at least it is growing). I would recommend this as a functional, but not perfect, guppy tank. It's bright, attractive, and retains some moisture in the form of condensation.
I would use light-colored substrate. Don't use sand, as the filter will likely suck it up. I have dark blue, red, and green gravel, and it just absorbs all the light. If I were to start it over, I would try white or beige gravel, or Caribsea's Torpedo Beach substrate, as it looks like it will be very attractive, and seems like it might be heavy enough to not be sucked up. I'm using Sunset Gold sand, now, in another tank, and I like it. Maybe some more plants or some decoration will brighten it up.
As for the top of the tank, yes, it does fit after water is added. It comes off easily enough; though, for maintenance purposes, the light needs to come off, as well. I would *not* use this tank without the lid. There would be nothing to protect the LEDs from condensation, and I have already, on a past setup, lost a tank light (an incandescent, which I do not wish to ever own again) to such cheap construction. The lid is specifically designed for the given filter, and has a hole on the other side of the light (which you mount to the tank), should you wish to add a heater (Hydor's Mini 7.5 Watt, for 2-5 gallons, is probably the only thing that will fit it works to a set number of degrees on top of what you have, so monitor). This could also be a good entry hole for piping, such as for air or a DIY CO2 system.
The pictures are deceptive: the light comes all the way to the feed hole and pretty much covers the top of the tank. It is a bright but bulky thing, and for the brightness, has no power. Good for energy, medium-to-low level for plants.

This 3 gallon tank has been great. The filter is very quiet, but is very powerful. The tank has not required much cleaning because the filter is rated for tanks much bigger than 3 gallons. The downside is that the filter itself is big, so it takes up more room in the tank. The shape of the tank allows for a great presentation, but it does not take up much room. The only complaint I have with the tank is the the top that is provided does not fit on very easily. Overall a great small tank!!!Want Tetra Crescent Acrylic Aquarium Kit Discount?
I just got this tank a few days ago, and so far I like it a lot for my betta. He seems to be happy with all the extra space, and it is an attractive setup. I have to say that based on other reviews there are apparently two versions of this tank. Mine is a Marineland Crescent, some others have reviewed an Eclipse kit. It appears the Eclipse unit has the filter installed in the hood. My Marineland kit came with a Whisper filter that is WAY too big for this tank. It seems to function well, but blows my betta around the tank and he stays to the side opposite the filter while it is running. It seems absurd that Tetra didn't put a smaller filter with this kit. Unless I can ever find a small filter that works well and is gentle enough for a betta, my fish will have to deal with this huge filter a couple hours a day so his water can be cleaner. Also, if you use the clip to hang the filter over the edge of the aquarium, it is too high, making it sit above the water level. You will need to remove the clip, and use the suction cups so you can position the filter lower. The kit comes with an extra suction cup for the top half of the filter, but it does not fit in the hole so you will need to stick something in it, like a key, to widen it out enough to fit the suction cup. The top lid fits just so-so, but does provide ample opening to fit even the big filter plus a heater, so the lid doesn't sit on top of the cords. There is also an open area toward the front of the lid to feed the fish. The LED lighting is bright and provides a pleasing view of the aquarium. For installing the light fixture, there are two screws provided to attach the clamp. Be careful not to twist the screws too tight. I did screw one in too tight, which caused a little crack in the aquarium. This is an an excellent tank so far, but can't give it 5 stars because of the ridiculously big filter.***UPDATE 6/29/12*** The other day while re-positioning the filter, I discovered that there is actually a switch on the back of the filter at the bottom that allows you to adjust the flow-which I obviously missed before. I set it at minimum and my betta seems mostly ok with it on. I'm going to run it most of the day, and turn it off at night so he can sleep well...and see how that goes.
***UPDATE*** 8/8/12 A few weeks ago I took out the big Tetra filter, and replaced it with the Azoo Mignon Filter, which I bought on Amazon. It sits outside the tank, has adjustable flow, is very quiet, and is easy maintenance. When set the right way, there is practically no current from the flow and I leave it running 24/7. Strongly recommend it.

I got this for my Hagen Nutrafin CO2 Natural Plant System because the bubble ladder is always trapping my small fish. Seems other people have had the same problem with the ladders. I tried everything to get this to work but it must need a lot more pressure than my system can produce. Other reviewers seem to have success but not me. I don't have a leak at all. The ladder still works perfectly. The Hagen I used this on is basically a fancy DIY system. Maybe I just got a faulty one? I tried to blow through it. Ran it under boiling water. Nothing.I think I will just do a bit of DIY and cut a piece of plastic for the front of my ladder to stop the fish getting behind it because if it wasn't for that I wouldn't have a problem and be wasting money on this thing.

While not a perfect diffuser (some bubbles will escape via the surface), it is still highly effective. Although some people complain that it does not work with DIY, these people must have leaks in their systems. If your system is air tight and contains living yeast, water, and sugar, it will work. They need quite a bit of pressure, so leave it overnight. If it still isn't bubbling, reglue and use some saran wrap and duct-tape to reseal. I have two of these and am very pleased with the result (happy plants!).Want Nano Carbon Dioxide CO2 Diffuser - Glass Reactor for Aquarium Tank Plants Discount?

Hydor Deco Stump Log Kit Large - Green (Ornament + Ario 4 Green)
Overall this ornament is simply not practical. The requirement to build a hill for it is poor design, and a large enough tank to display the ornament and colored bubbles well is likely to be owned only by people who use them for commercial breeding (and therefore are not likely to decorate anyway). The large Hydor Stump Log Kit with green light & aeration bubbles looks great in my 60 gallon fish tank. It takes a bit of fussing to get it set up, but the cool effect makes it worth it.
