Incandescent Recessed Full Aquarium Hood, 24" Black

Incandescent Recessed Full Aquarium Hood, 24' BlackIt fits perfectly on my tank. Note the dimensions carefully. The light fixture is easily replaced and has a glass cover protecting it from water splashes. The backs are easily broken off for power filters.

This is a good product , its pretty simple to take the backs off for filters and the light recess comes off with a snap for easy bulb changes. My only beef is that it didnt come with bulbs (often the most expensive pary of a hood ) Oh well they were pretty cheep , id def buy again for a freshwater tank.

hood did not fit my tank. It was NOT 12" wide by 24" long as advertised. The hood was 11-1/2" wide by 23-1/2" long. I returned the hood for refund, but shipping was 1/2 the refund. I should have kept it and added plastic trim to make it fit.

Fluval G3 Pre-Filter Cartridge

Fluval G3 Pre-Filter CartridgeI have this on my 60 gallon discus tank and rinse off every 5 to 7 days and I am running at 100% flow rate for the last 3 months. I may want to try the finer prefilter in the future just to compare.

All I can say is that is a great product and I use it all the time. Somewhat expensive and this item is hard to find.

Zoo Med Turtle Dock for 15 Gallon Tanks, Medium

Zoo Med Turtle Dock for 15 Gallon Tanks, MediumMy turtles have grown since I purchased their original turtle dock. They were getting so large that they sunk the old turtle dock (small), so I knew I needed a larger one. The product is just what my turtles needed so that they can come out of the water to bask. The only odd thing is that when it arrived (in its original packaging) it was kind of oily and sandy feeling, but I just washed it off.

I have been searching for a basking rock to fit my 40 gallon breeder and this one fits perfectly, and also it a prefect fit for my turtle. The basking rock fits nicely and is the exact width of the tank.

Buy Zoo Med Turtle Dock for 15 Gallon Tanks, Medium Now

1st I must say. Some if not most of zoomeds items like this basking dock is made with a paint-like substance that peels off into my clean turtle tank...I'm unsure how safe it it or if its lead ..if so then lawsuits can follow if someone's pet dies due to swallowing this...I don't know but I'm tired of scooping up the partials that comes from this item. Maybe its foam dunked in paint but ZooMed need to create something more safer than this coating. And it was gritty coming out of the box so I rinsed it off and it still has particles that float into my clean water.

If this didn't happen it would b great...

My turtle likes to climb on it but he has to get used to it after using another bank made differently.

Read Best Reviews of Zoo Med Turtle Dock for 15 Gallon Tanks, Medium Here

May not be pretty as my 4 year old put it, but it looks like the picture and works as stated. I do have a very small turtle though I added weights to my dock and it will hold 1 lb 5 oz up out of the water before sinking under.

Had the grainy sand stuff but rinsed it off before putting in the tank (who would not wash something new before exposing there animals to it any way?). No scrubbing as it is foam afterall. I like it, my kid's turtle likes it, and it is as advertised so thumbs up.

I also think it is great ZooMed provides products I can afford that work. I also use their turtle filter.

Want Zoo Med Turtle Dock for 15 Gallon Tanks, Medium Discount?

The design requires improvement due to the suction cups not staying put. It would have been better if it was designed to hook over the edge of the tank for stability. I am going to have to "rig" this dock in order for it to work, because the turtles can't enjoy it when it's floating freely around the tank. Not impressed at all.

Laguna Submersible Water Pump, 200-GPH

Laguna Submersible Water Pump, 200-GPHI bought this pump just under two years ago and it has failed. Since I turn it on only occasionally, I didn't get very many hours out of it. I took it apart and and all the parts look fine, so it must be something electrical. I have a Laguna Max-Flo 2400 that has run continuously for over 5 years so I think this failure may have been a fluke. Anyway, I just purchased another one. It is one of the few low-volume pumps that has enough head for my fountain.

Hagen Glo Dual Timer for T5 Lighting Systems

Hagen Glo Dual Timer for T5 Lighting SystemsI was ready to return this product because I had no idea how it worked and I could not find any instructions or video demos online. The instructions that came with the product are horrible. I gave it to my roommate who is good with clocks and he figured it out.

There are two steps/components in this device:

One is the front dial that you rotate to set to the current time. You need to set it to a 15-minute interval time (say 7:00 or 7:15, 7:30, etc) . Leave this step until the end

Two are the outer ring segments. These are hard to pinpoint but if you pay close attention (feel free to use a magnifying glass if you need to) you can press each plastic segment down. You need to add a little pressure and they will take the up or down position. There is a segment for every 15-minute time lapse. So with the segments you can indicate when the power remains on (down position) or off (up position). And you can basically set the schedule that you need as many times in a 24-hr time frame.

For my aquarium, I have the lights coming on early in the morning at 7am, then shutting down for 2-3 hours at noon (this is according to some sources I read to impede algae production) and then come back on at 3pm until 7 or 8pm

Now, another tricky aspect is the red button on the side. This works such as if the switch is up (timer drawing shows) the timer segments you chose are in effect. If it is down (the "I" shows) the timer does not operate.

Nothing I described above is in the manual. So that's why I am giving it 4 stars because it works but you have to play with it.

So far it has been working but I'll update if it breaks

I thought this might have two timers. But it doesn't. It has one timer, that controls two outlets. It won't control two sets of aquarium lights at different times. It is basically one timer, that splits electricity to an extra outlet instead of one. I was hoping to have white lights comes on during the day, and then blue lights come on in the evening. This will not do that.

Buy Hagen Glo Dual Timer for T5 Lighting Systems Now

The timer works fine. You do need to fine tune it once a week as the time will be off a little. I have two of them and both of them have flimsy mechanical wheel in between. It's not smooth when you need to turn the time wheel. The timer does take time to learn how to use as the instruction was pretty bad. There is youtube video if you still can't figure it out. Basically you point the arrow to current time, and push the pin down for the time you need the timer to turn on. It's a little tricky as I didn't know how to push it down when I first received it.

I highly recommend a timer as it saves you a lot of time switching on/off lights and it gives your aquarium a stable environment.

Read Best Reviews of Hagen Glo Dual Timer for T5 Lighting Systems Here

I have five of these GLO timers which I use for various planted aquaria and house plants. They are very handy to use, since I have been able to stagger the times in which the lights on these aquariums turn on and off.

The only drawback is that Hagen's instructions are terrible and should be revised to make setting up this timer easier to understand.

Aside from that, these are excellent timers that work very well with a variety of aquatic lighting systems; including Hagen's own GLO T-5 linear fluorescent lights.

Highly recommended.

SpongeBob @ Home Tank

SpongeBob @ Home TankMy opinion: save the $50 and peice together a five-gallon glass setup

We recently purchased this aquarium for our daughter who happens to be a Spongebob fan. For its purposes, I suppose it is ok, but be warned. It really can only function as a goldfish/betta aquarium as it has no heater. There is only about enough space for 2-3 small fish (but remember bettas are territorial and will kill each other), or one decent sized goldfish. The rocks that come with the kit are only about enough to cover the bottom, but definately leave some open spots. These are somewhat nit-picky, but there is a pretty big issue. The plastic/acrylic material this tank is molded in is too thin. We put approximately 3 1/2 gallons in the tank, and it cracked near the top spilling water. We promptly returned it and replaced it. The second one did the same thing. Even the lid feels cheap and flimsy. My daughter loves the aquarium however, and luckily the crack was on the backside, so a little duct tape cured the issue for the time being. Can't wait to get rid of this though.

Impeller Assembly for H.O.T. Magnum Canister Filter - Blue

Impeller Assembly for H.O.T. Magnum Canister Filter - BlueAfter 10 years of service my filter pooped out. After investigating the problem noticed that the impeller was just worn out. Replace it with a new one and she lives again to clean another day. Fish are happy and I'm happy. Love amazon and prime.

My Marineland 'H.O.T. Magnum' canister filter began making noise and working intermittently. (No complaints, since I've had it in near constant service for over ten years.)

After disassembling it, I discovered that the small bearing at the magnet end of the impeller shaft had detached.

Found this replacement part here, after flinching at the forty dollar price my local pet store wants for the same item. Purchased it here for less than half of that amount, including shipping.

It's an exact fit (although my original impeller was orange, not blue), and my trusty aquarium filter is once again silent, and working like new.

Good ol' Amazon.com to the rescue again !

Hydor 150W Submersible Aquarium Heater - Original Theo

Hydor 150W Submersible Aquarium Heater - Original TheoThis fishtank heater works great. I'm using it in a 29 gallon tank. I set it to 79 degrees and my temperature strip on the tank shows 78 degreees. I'd say it's accurate. I recommend buying it.

This heater is accurate and consistent. If you are looking for a heater then it is more important that it keeps constant, consistent temperature. Being accurate is not important as long as you have an accurate thermometer.

If you are heating your tank for the first time then it is easy to get to the temperature that you want.

1) Put the heater in the tank and set it 10-15 degrees higher than your temperature goal

2) Watch your thermometer either the floating or stick on

3) Once your temperature goal is met, lower the setting on your heater and immediately stop when the red light goes off

Placed it in the water horizontally (completely submersed), works perfect. Has a little red light that shows when it is running which is somewhat hard to see in this mounting position, but all in all a good heater, no fuss.

Thermostat eventually broke on my unit & unfortunately we didn't catch it in till it took a couple fish with it. Temp was set at 77 degrees but unit heated the tank to 84! Tried lowering the gauge but got the same results. Bought this over other models in hopes it would be long lasting & dependable but it's going to the garbage can.

Want Hydor 150W Submersible Aquarium Heater - Original Theo Discount?

After buying the Hydor power heads, I figured I couldn't go wrong with this company. I was very disappointed when I installed my heater, set the temperature to 78, and came back a couple hours later to find that my water was at 84 degrees! To try and counter this, I unplugged it, let the temperature settle back down to about 74 degrees. Plugged the heater back in, set the temp to 72. Came back a couple hours later, water was at 79. I double checked to make sure that I ordered the correct size, and wattage (which it was). Stick with the power heads, avoid the heaters.

Dog Gone Smart Quilted Jacket for Dogs, 12-Inch RedWe love this and our dog took no time adjusting to it. Seems to keep her warm and it looks good on her too. The only problem is it shrank quite a bit after the first landering. Otherwise we highly recommend it.

I have a mutt. Very cute, loveable, sweetheart. However, she is apparently kinda long. So this, like other dog coats, seems to be short from neck to tail. Otherwise very well made and is nicely adjustable around her chest and neck.

Deep Blue Betta Tank 1 Gallon 2 Way w/Cover & Divider

Deep Blue Betta Tank 1 Gallon 2 Way w/Cover & DividerWe love this little glass tank which is roughly 8" x 5" x 8". It sits on our kitchen table, and is definately a conversation piece. The divider is glass and is removable. We do not utilize the divider, and simply have one fish in the tank. We decided to add a filter to make a better environment for the fish, and to aid with the cleaning process. We are using the Elite Mini filter, but the Tetra Whisper is another option for this little tank. Both filters have suction cups to hold them in place. The Elite Mini filter that we are using is adjustable so we can control the amount of current. We originally had the Mini Bow 1 tank/filter and the current was too strong for our fish. Our betta is much happier in this tank. We also added a Betta Stik made by Deep Blue to maintain the proper temperature. The cover is glass as well and typically sits flush. Since we have added the filter and heater, our cover rests propped up a little due to the tubes and cords. With the setup we are using, the cover collects some water from condensation, but it does not seep over the edges of the tank. The cover is removable as well if you decided to keep the tank without it on. We prefer the glass tank to the other acylic ones available because it will not get scratched so easy. The size is great because it is easy to transport to the sink for cleaning. This tank comes with a Five-Year Manufacturer Limited Warranty. Our betta is living in the lap of luxury and loves his palace. Just add some decorations and it is beautiful.

I have a Betta fish and this tank fish is big enough for him and his decorations. Best of all its easy to clean!

would recomed this for any one who want to have a Betta fish.

Buy Deep Blue Betta Tank 1 Gallon 2 Way w/Cover & Divider Now

I just got my product and I am so excited about it. It is so cute and the rocks and decorations that I am putting in it will just make it that much cuter. there is only one thing that i don't understand about it. It has a glass divider which is great as I have 2 bettas and we know what Betta's do when they are together and there is the divet on the top of the tank to slide the glass divider in and you can see the divet at the bottom of the tank where it is supposed to slide in ther but the glass is on top of the divet so you can access that divet to finish the slide and secure the divider? Kind of weird. It appears that all is sealed so it can't be accessed. If anyone has figured out something that don't know, let me know =) I am hoping that when I put the rocks and water in it that is won't move back and forth all over the place. I didn't want to use gravel, just the marbles but I may have to use gravel if I can't get the divider to stay in place? That is the only thing that I see is a problem, everything else looks great. Can't wait to give my betta's their Valentines present later today.

I assumed this would be too small for 2 betta fish but it is perfect. There is plenty of space for them both and they don't bother with each other. Honestly we bought 2 males to see if they would fight through the glass, but they are both calm and because they can see each other they flare up and their colors are so beautiful. I would highly recommend this aquarium!

Nano Carbon Dioxide CO2 Diffuser - Glass Reactor for Aquarium Tank Plants

Nano Carbon Dioxide CO2 Diffuser - Glass Reactor for Aquarium Tank PlantsUsing it on a DIY system and works great. Fine little bubbles. Have it set up under the outflow of the filter and hardly any make it to the top.

I bought 2 and neither would work with mt co2 bottle. Some have gotten them to work well some havent. DIY diffusers are in an early stage right now so im holding on to them. Loved the price.

Buy Nano Carbon Dioxide CO2 Diffuser - Glass Reactor for Aquarium Tank Plants Now

I got this for my Hagen Nutrafin CO2 Natural Plant System because the bubble ladder is always trapping my small fish. Seems other people have had the same problem with the ladders. I tried everything to get this to work but it must need a lot more pressure than my system can produce. Other reviewers seem to have success but not me. I don't have a leak at all. The ladder still works perfectly. The Hagen I used this on is basically a fancy DIY system. Maybe I just got a faulty one? I tried to blow through it. Ran it under boiling water. Nothing.

I think I will just do a bit of DIY and cut a piece of plastic for the front of my ladder to stop the fish getting behind it because if it wasn't for that I wouldn't have a problem and be wasting money on this thing.

Read Best Reviews of Nano Carbon Dioxide CO2 Diffuser - Glass Reactor for Aquarium Tank Plants Here

While not a perfect diffuser (some bubbles will escape via the surface), it is still highly effective. Although some people complain that it does not work with DIY, these people must have leaks in their systems. If your system is air tight and contains living yeast, water, and sugar, it will work. They need quite a bit of pressure, so leave it overnight. If it still isn't bubbling, reglue and use some saran wrap and duct-tape to reseal. I have two of these and am very pleased with the result (happy plants!).

Tetra Grazin Block

Tetra 77263 Grazing Block, 1.27-Ounce, 3-PackMy Tetras and Cherry Barbs would peck at this block. My Algee eater would eat it, but then they were not cleaning the tank. Then the snails discovered it. Not great. I'd rather have them clean the plants.

My larger fish would not eat from the block.

When I fed the fish at the end of the day, they ate dry food like they were starving. They became super aggressive to get the dry food.

It's a good idea but in reality it doesn't work as well as I wished it would

This review is for the Algae block not the grazing block. The Algae block package has a catfish on it, but my catfish didn't eat this stuff. The adult and fry mollies ate it; the snails loved it, but the critter I was trying to get to eat passed it up.

PondCare Summer Staple Pellet Fish Food, 15-PoundPond Care Summer Staple Food is the best fish food for my pond fish...........was always buying it at a local store in a less than a lb. bag.................couldn't believe the savings by buying it in a 15 lb bag............a saving of more than $200.

no wonder the local stores only sell it in the smaller quanities............this is my second year of buying on Amazon and will continue to buy both my summer and autumn food..........great value and service was 5 star.............

We have about 30 large goldfish in our outdoor pond. Before using this food we were plagued with lack of interest in the food and frequent filter cleans due to sludge buildup. With this product (and the fall/spring companion), the fish go for the food as soon as it hits the water and the pond clarity is great. Economy of the 15 pound bag can't be beat. Questions to the home site of PondCare also receive prompt and informative replies. Good company, good product.

Power Gravel Cleaner 30-125

Power Gravel Cleaner 30-125I am so excited to finally get my Power Gravel Cleaner for 30 125 gallon aquariums! Amazon.com had the best price of anyone else that I could find. Plus with Free shipping offered by Amazon Prime I couldn't go wrong. This Power gravel cleaner works great, it has very good suction and was easy to put together. I did discover 2 issues with this unit, the suction hose needs to be at least 3 feet long and the suction hose should have a shut-off ball valve to have more control of the suction power. However, I found these issues easy to fix by replacing the short hose that was provided with the unit with an old 5 foot gravel vac hose that I had laying around to give the unit a longer reach around the tank and I was able to make it easier to control the water flow by pinching the hose with my fingers. I have to say all in all, I am very happy with this product and would recommend it to my friends and my LFS. I had to give this unit a 4 star rating because of these 2 issues. If Colbalt Aquatics would update their design with these 2 modifications they would get a 5 star rating from me.

This is an excellent idea with a few draw backs some of which are significant. I ordered the 30 125, found setup a breeze despite the near non existent instructions. At first I tried it out on a 55 it did a good job and did it quickly. The unit was defective but I ordered a replacement and Amazon had it here the very next day.

The unit is basically an HOB (Hang On Back) filter but it's a clever idea and easy to see how it helps keep your tank substrate clean in between serious break down cleanings and water changes.

1) The suction is more than adequate I use Terrazona glass as a substrate in many of my tanks, these are quite large and heavy and the suction from this unit had no problem sucking those up, a simple shake released them. it's comparable to Python water exchanger. But for a unit price of $100 Cobalt could certainly have provided extra socks and a stronger pump. Not to mention a flow control much like the simple switch on the Python

2) The filtration socks are flimsy open mesh nylon and allow for some debris to re-enter the tankfor $100 for the cleaner Cobalt should really include more than one.

An alternative is to buy some 80 Mil filter pad (I use this stuff in all my filters) it removes debris down to 5 microns in size and will polish your water as you use clean the gravel. The cost for a package of three replacement socks retails for an outrageous , p. You can buy an 18" X 30" piece of "Pure Flow" 80 micron padding for under $10 it's a no brainer. Simply wrap a piece around the plastic frame instead of the sock or better yet use both.

3) For a machine meant to clean up to a 125 aquarium and provide the consumer with a mere 24" of vinyl tubing is short sighted and cheap. Rather than move the unit along the rim of the tank as you work. An easy fix is to grab some 5/8 tubing I pulled 5 feet off a siphon gravel cleaner and it works great and solved the problem.

However there are reasons to like this product.

1) The extension tube is excellent and the rubber dividers provide an air tite seal. Plus you can adjust the size to fit the depth of most any tank.

2) It's fast and it's convenient, despite it's flaws. This is a real time saver especially if you have multiple tanks.

I've used an eheim sludge remover for years and it's effective but time consuming. Like all eheim products it's exceptionally well made and the micro screen compartment for capturing debris never needs replacing. However it's limited in size to tanks 24" in depth and tube extensions are not available.

A few years ago I paid $79 apiece for two of them but see Amazon sells them for $39 that's a steal. They're a wonderful addition to any aquarists arsenal of cleaning and maintenance products. In fairness the Cobalt is stronger and more versatile especially for larger jobs.

Over the past 40 years of keeping fish I've seen both products and companies come and go with rapid frequency. Cobalt would be serving both itself and their customers better by offering more value for the dollar and up grading the overall quality of this product.

Buy Power Gravel Cleaner 30-125 Now

The good: The cleaner looks nice and is easy to use. Not being up to my armpit to reach the bottom was nice. It really does cycle a lot through.

The bad: It's not filtering that much out. Even when I doubled up the screen on the flow to try and filter out more, it was still pushing through all the food and poop right back into the tank. It only took me 3 attempts at cleaning the tank before I put a cup into the waterfall and dumped it into a bucket so I could look at the water that was going back into the tank. Very large uneaten food flakes and plenty of poop were right there in front of me.

Realistically great idea, I was sold on it (and I'm a cheapskate), but SORELY disappointed.

Try to use it but after 30 seconds the Small particles Of Gravel Stops Motor. I removed the spinner clean it put it back and it stopped again. Did not used it any more. Going back to Amazon for refund.

Maybe is good for large gravel but not for with my cichlids gravel.

Other problem is the length of the hose. It's only 2 ft. and is very stiff. You need to replace the hose with longer one and more flexible.
