Fluval Water Polishing Pad

Fluval Water Polishing PadI bought a package of six filters when I set up my new aquarium. The water polishing pads clear out a lot of the fine debris that the coarse mechanical filter will not stop. A bonus: when you clean the filter, rinse and squeeze out the pads (do not wring them) and put them back in the box. They will keep working and your water will look great!

These pads do a good job of collecting finer particles that will pass through the other media filters. These pads are also good for assisting in the creation of a bacteria colony which helps in the nitrification process. Use these for every filter change.

I bought this product. Because i wanted my tank water to be crystal clear, it did this well as lon as i changed out the paddes weekly(which is a little expensive). Had that been it i would have been perfectly happy but they caused my tank's bad gasses to rise. So i had to stop using them. Once i stopped using them

My tank returned to normal.

Penn-Plax® Aquarium Plant Anchors, 12pk

Penn-Plax® Aquarium Plant Anchors, 12pkThese lead plant anchors do work. Our aquarium has large, natural colored river pebbles, so we can't really get the roots covered adequately enough to weight the plants down with them. We have freshwater anacharis plants. We were using plastic tie wraps to hold the anacharis strands together, and then stuck the bunch into the pebbles, but some strands would break off and leave a gap in the bunch. This would allow the rest of the bunch to float up and out of the tie wrap. Now they just do the same thing with the lead wrap weights, but I notice that at least it does take longer for the bunch to break loose and float to the top in loose strands. I think this is because you can wrap the lead ties a little tighter and cover a little more of the strand base by spiraling the tie up as you wrap. Oh well, it's better than the plastic tie wrap method. I gave one star off because they don't completely hold the bunch down forever, but I haven't found what will yet.

These lead strips are the same as the ones that come with many of the live aquatic plants I've purchased from my local fish store. They wrap easily around the stems of hard to contain plants, and help to keep them from floating all over my fish tank.

I've used them quite a few times to group a bunch of cuttings together after pruning some of my fast growing plants (particularly 'rotala', which roots very quickly), and then have brand new plants to help fill up my freshwater tropical aquarium.

I have a 3/3.5 gallon aquarium for my two little African Dwarf Frogs. They love plants to hide in, but the plants kept coming up when I was changing the water (they are growing so I'm doing frequent water change to get rid of some of the crap.) These frogs are very timid and freakout when I change their water or put my hand in there. So I wanted to give them back there beloved hiding spots while at the same time causing them the least amount of stress.

If I tied together a few of the small viney plants with a few of the weights (which are just strips of lead and kind of remind me of ties you use for bread), they would hold down. Even when I sucked water away with my siphon or put water down. The frogs are oblivious to the ties. However, I had a hard time use these for single tiny plants. They tend to make the plant shorter when you are putting it on....lost one plant that way. So far only plant single plant has come back up. I guess it is helping with the problem, but not sure how it will do long term.

These anchors are ok, but I have to use several to hold down one artificial plant. They don't work with my live plants--for some reason I can't get the live ones to stay on. These anchors do work, you just need to use at least a few on each plant.

These work as expected and hold the plants down in the tank. My only concern was for the health of the fish but it doesnt' seem to effect them at all.

Hagen Marina Background Solution, 1-Ounce

Hagen Marina Background Solution, 1-Ouncethe product works fine. make sure the background is flat. mine wasnt, so i had to use clear tape for the edges. works great but, so does a cheaper bottle of mineral oil...

I had a background on my 55 gallon Which I stuck on with double sided tape. Where the tape ran, the background was pretty bright, the rest was so-so. I saw this and wondered if it would work to make the whole thing look like the parts where I had the tape. It does! The background is so bright now. It reflects light back into the tank, and makes the whole thing brighter. Amazing! My recommendations: Make sure your surface is clean (mine wasn't, so the bottom doesn't stick too well. Ideally make do it before you put your aquarium in place. Mine was 4 inches away from the wall, so it's impossible to get it perfect. Even still, this stuff is amazing!

Buy Hagen Marina Background Solution, 1-Ounce Now

This product works as its intended, however I was hoping for a better dispensing solution. I was attempting to apply it straight to the fish tank since my backing kept rolling up and prevented me from applying according to the directions. But overall, once applied liberally, it worked perfectly for adhering the background to the tank.

Read Best Reviews of Hagen Marina Background Solution, 1-Ounce Here

You could use this goop or some sort of vaseline based solution for your aquarium background. It was a messy, messy job as I spread the solution evenly over the background. I must not have done that great of a job because my background started bubbling and I eventually took it off. Maybe it's a user error, not the product. I wouldn't buy this stuff again because it's super messy and now I'm stuck with trying to wipe if off the back of my aquarium, yuk.

I heard mineral oil works similar as this background solution. But I hoped this may work better, Everything was good at the beginning, but now after 6 month, about 15% of the area dried out and I have to apply the solution again.

Tetra EasyBalance w/Nitraban, 3-3/8-Ounce, 100 ml

Tetra EasyBalance w/Nitraban, 3-3/8-Ounce, 100 mlThis is an excellent additive for freshwater aquariums. It keeps PH at 7.0, reduces Nitrates that can usually only be removed via water changes, and removes phosphate which encourages algae growth. It also produces CO2 which is helpful for the growth of aquatic plants. However it is important that you have proper water aeration when using this chemical additive because of these CO2 producing properties. Another major thing is that this product does NOT remove chlorine or chloramines from water when performing water changes. Also it is important to note that by using this product it does not excuse you from not having to perform water changes. You still should change 15-20% of the water in the tank every 2-3 weeks depending on how many fish are stocked in the tank relative to its size.

From Tetra's Site:

Easy Balance® Detailed Description of Individual Product Features

Carbonate Hardness Additive The appropriate amount of carbonate hardness is added to the aquarium water compensating for KH losses, which occur as a result of nitrification.

pH Stabilization Stabilizes the pH value on a sufficiently high level, preventing a drop to biologically harmful levels (pH crash) and produces a certain amount of CO2 preventing excessive pH values.

Phosphate Removing Effect In a standard aquarium (30gal) the phosphate concentration is reduced to zero during most of the 6-month period.

New Feature: Nitrate Reduction with Nitraban(tm) Serves as a nutrient for denitrifying bacteria that consume the oxygen releasing nitrogen from the aquarium. On average the nitrate concentration will drop below 40mg/l.

Other Features Include Production of Carbon Dioxide, the addition of trace elements and a replenishment of vitamin B

This product will cloud the water for a few hours after it is introduced to the tank water. This cloudiness should disappear quickly as long as you have good water filtration and movement. And again make sure you have good water aeration like air stones in the tank as this could cause the fish to not get enough oxygen.

I have a 10 gallon fish tank with 2 sharks and an angel fish and used to buy this from the pet store but it was much cheaper here! works just as good and am not having any problems

Buy Tetra EasyBalance w/Nitraban, 3-3/8-Ounce, 100 ml Now

I've used this before, and am getting more, have had fish for YEARS. Someone went on and on about people needing things so fish must need things... using distilled water, etc. HUH? Unless you have discus or something this info is rediculous! Tap water needs conditioning for fish, or let the water sit several days for chlorines to dissipate.Personally,I use much of the water from my pond where the fish spend their summers, but I also keep conditioners and other products on hand. This one works as well as more expensive ones. But enough with the distilled water and coffeepots for pete's sake!

I'm not entirely sure what happened or what I did wrong with this product...I used it the exact same way in three nearly identical tanks, and got three completely different results. The first tank it actually did what it said on the tin, the second it did NOTHING, and in the third, it clouded over and killed my fish!

I'm still relatively new to fishkeeping, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't my doing (or at least, certainly not ALL my doing). Be extremely careful when using this product. I'm not even sure that proper aeration (or the lack thereof) is what caused the problem, as each tank had pretty much the same amount of airflow and breathing room at the top.

Want Tetra EasyBalance w/Nitraban, 3-3/8-Ounce, 100 ml Discount?

TETRA EASY BALANCE, WITH NITRABAN, (in it's 8 ounce size), is supposed to make 500 gallons of water safe for tropical

fish making it VERY economical! And it IS a necessity for fish.

Tropical fish, you see, cannot take the chemicals put into water

that we humans can. Or at least, it effects them in a negative

way more quickly. I mean, all those chemicals CAN'T be good for

humans, either -that's why I use home-made distilled water for

coffee, tea, and other (human) beverages I make at home. Distilled

water is good for fish as well -but, along with the chemicals

left at the bottom of the distilling jar, (with the water that is

thrown away), are also the minerals that come in water! I can

buy mineral supplements for me -but I don't think there are any

mineral supplements for fish! Anyway, often I use regular tap

water + a water conditioner/ "safe-maker" for my little Betta fish,

and sometimes I use distilled water with the water-conditioner...

distilled water STILL has benefits, I think.

Anyway, the water-conditiner here is supposed to be for ALL fish.

My Betta fish did not take adversely to it at all -and the

lady I called up from the TETRA company said she gives it to her

Betta fish with no ill effects, (either?). However, at a pet store,

I saw they had both their own brand of fish water conditioner, and

a smaller bottle of fish water conditioner made specifically for

Betta fish. On my last visit to the pet store, I asked them what

the difference was. They said the Betta fish need the special

conditiner because they are more delicate than other fish. How-

ever, I saw no difference when I used their special Betta water

conditoner, and the TETRA water conditioner for all fish. Maybe

their brand of water conditioner for all fish is less gentle than

the Tetra all-purpose water conditioner. I don't know. I havn't

tried their brand, as yet.

The Tetra Easy Balance, (all-fish), water conditioner must be shaken

before use. This is the most trifling of inconveniences -I think

ALL water conditioners, and other liquids, (for humans and for pets),

should be shaken -unless the label says otherwise. Couldn't hurt,

I don't think. However, the Tetra Easy Balance Water Conditioner is

a LOT THICKER than the special Betta water conditioner I got at the

pet store. This may mean only a little must be used -but it's SO

thick, I found some that had inadvertently dripped out had, after

a while, dried and solidified near the bottle opening! It was easy

to brush away -but rather shocking to find it there.

In sum, my little Betta fish, (named "Pink"), liked the Tetra Easy

Balance water-conditioner just as much as the special Betta water

conditioner from the pet store. Sometimes, before I put the water

conditioner in, she'd just be kind of sluggish around the top of

her fish-bowl. After putting the Tetra-water conditioner in, she'd

become active and playful! It really does make a difference!

It isn't written on the Tetra bottle -but on the Betta fish conditioner from the pet-store, it mentions that it works better when mixed with the water before puting the fish in. This makes sense, I think. Fully diluted water / conditioner is, for fish, like already

-stirred coffee for humans!

So, I'll end my review here with a few "words" from my little Betta fish, Pink.

............Pink says: "I LIKE WHAT IT DOES FOR THE WATER, AND I.....

............ENJOY SWIMMING IN IT!"....................................

You can't get a better recommendation than that! }}}}===(o>

Tetra Whisper In-Tank Filter 20I with BioScrubber, 10 to 20-Gallon

Tetra Whisper In-Tank Filter 20I with BioScrubber, 10 to 20-GallonI bought this from a local supermarket (meijers) about 2 and a 1/2 years ago, when i first got my aquarium. it is lasted sense then with absolute zero problems. well, actually it does have the tendency to get small, weak, and/ or sick fish stock to the intake grill, but that can be expected from any good filter. It has kept the water crystle clear. When i first turned it on, it was so silent that i thought it was broken. If your a begining fish keeper, i strongly recomend this product.

I've been in the aquarium hobby 35 years, and this little filter out shines others for its ease of changing filter medium, water filtration and biological aides. I hung this on the rim of my 8 gallon goldfish bowl and it does a great job keeping the water clean and clear. Unlike other in tank filters, this one allows you to add your own activated carbon or other chemicals to the inside pocket of the filter. You can also clean the filter and add your own carbon which allows you to not have to put a new filter in every time you want to change it out. That's a money saver, which also allows for greater flexibility on what you want to use for the chemical filtration (ie. carbon, or ammo balls, or whatever inside the filter).

As others have mentioned, this filter is not an object of beauty. It is what it is an in tank filter. Those who don't want to see a large black plastic filter in their tank.... well, duh... get one that hangs on the outside of the tank!

Also, the filter moves quite a bit of water (which for my purposes is ideal). But, if you have small fish fry or sick fish, the intake of the filter is likely to be too strong and suck them into the filter. So be forewarned. If you have healthy fish and are looking for the best smallish in tank filter, it would be hard to find something better.

Buy Tetra Whisper In-Tank Filter 20I with BioScrubber, 10 to 20-Gallon Now

This thing is friggin massive. It takes up a ton of room in the tank. The reason why it's quiet is because the vibrations created by the motor are drowned out by the water around it. After all, it IS an internal filter, somewhat. The water flow is pretty strong. I ditched the flimsy biobags and black foam and just put in my own media instead (which is a lot cheaper and a hell of a lot easier to maintain). The advantages of the filter is that there's so much available space to put media, more than any equivalent HOB filter. the bad part is, it's in your tank and taking up valuable fish/tank space. It's sorta ugly, even though it's black.

hI have noticed this product is internal and best fit to my tanks(30 gallon) . Then, i have bought two of this product and it works perfectly for " one time only" . Every time, i tried to remodel and reset up my tank. They BROKE AFTER TAKE OUT AND PUT IT BACK. I try to disassemble(An electric engineering student) this filter to figure out what is going on; apparently, I did not find any wrong about this product why it BROKE. The power is no longer running and giving the sound. Thus, I have to return/exchange. Now, I WILL NO LONGER PURCHASE TETRA INTERNAL FILTER AGAIN!!!!

Sporn Non-Pulling Mesh Harness, Medium, Blue

Sporn Non-Pulling Mesh Harness, Medium, BlueThis harness did not stop my dog from pulling on her leash at all. That said, I think she is pretty oblivious to pain/discomfort. It does make me feel better to have the pressure distributed over her whole chest instead of directly on her throat. I continue to use it because she can at least breathe better and I don't worry as much about damage to her trachea.

This thing works famously. Our dog was notorious for pulling on his leash and this harness stopped him on the first day.

Apparently it tastes great because he ate it, but we are back to buy another one.

Buy Sporn Non-Pulling Mesh Harness, Medium, Blue Now

This harness works so well that I'm back to buy a second one for our new adoption. It gives instant feedback to the dog by a gentle chest squeeze created by the dog's own pulling. What you can't see in the product photo is a flat metal guide that the two rear straps slide through, centered on the dog's back. When there is no pulling, the harness can actually sit loosely on the dog for maximum comfort. Walking on a loose leash is a very light feedback level, and an indefinitely sustainable level of comfort for your dog. More pulling creates more discomfort, so the dog corrects himself.

That said, it hasn't completely cured my 50 lb shepherd mix of all pulling; she will still pull if she is anxious about being left behind by the pack. As long as she's not dealing with separation anxiety, however, it makes walking her possible for my small daughter, who weighs less than 100 lbs herself. I'm sure she would do even better walking on a loose leash if we spent more time working with her. She's had essentially no training to "heel."

A kind woman saw me struggle to keep my dog in control. She told me about the sporn collar, I came home and looked it up, the reviews were great, the price made it worth the try. This has worked outstanding. It doesn't hurt my pooch and I have far more control. My pit bull is strong and before he used to dangel on the end of his leach when he was upset. Now I actually have more control. I am forever greatful to the kind lady who took her time to tell me about the collar.

Want Sporn Non-Pulling Mesh Harness, Medium, Blue Discount?

I am only writing this review because I am back to buy another one of these harnesses. I have the red one for my female beagle / spaniel mix. It works like magic.

We have two dogs, Macy (above) and Oreo a male shih tzu. Macy loves to pull and try to run and just act crazy on our walks. Oreo likes to stop and smell everything, then pee on it. So, walking the two of them has been a chore. My hand would be purple from the leash after walking a half mile with Macy. So I bought this harness (in Red). From the moment we put it on, she was a new dog!! It works by pulling the dogs legs backwards when they pull forward. She is smart, so she stopped pulling. Oreo doesn't pull very much, unless he gets on the trail of something that smells really good.... or unless he really wants to pee on something!

I'm back to get a harness for Oreo. I only have one teensy tiny complaint. If the leash goes slack, then the dog CAN get out of this harness. That is spooky. So I use it along with another small "leash extender" clipped to the collar. This harness doesn't use the dog's collar, and if you clip it to the collar, then you defeat the harness. With the leash extender clipped to the collar, I know my little beast isn't going anywhere, even if she manages to Houdini out of the harness.

Overall, I give it 5 stars and not only do I recommend it, but I'm getting myself another one, too!

Filter Media Bag Size: 12' W x 4' DI thought that the bag would be 12 inches long and 4 inches wide. The title says 4" D. D should mean diameter in this case. The bag is really about 2 inches wide. I would say that the 4 inches refers to circumference and not diameter.

Except for the poor dimensions, the bag is good. It has held together and works well for filter media. I just wish that it was bigger.
