As i said in the title...,

This is the best automatic feeder, you will love it.., its extremelly easy to set up, just adjust the hour, and done, you can setup 4 times to feed, you can also can adjust the feeder to feed 2 times for every turn (with 1 minute of difference), also it have a "force" button, to feed manually, without disturb the programmed times.

The compartiment is regulable so you can adjust the amount of food, that will be released in every turn..., its powered by 2AA batteries.

I didn't found at the time something bad, or any problems related to the humidity or moisture.

We purchased this feeder for those times when we're away from home and our 38 gallon fish tank. I set it up (quite easy) and tested it for a week before we left worked great. I DID have to tape a piece of plastic (curved, from a soda bottle) against the edge of the hole in the lid of the tank, where the food is dispensed. Some of the food was ejecting over the edge and this simple "fix" guided the excess food into the tank instead of onto the floor. I think this was because our lid has a rather small opening not a fault of the feeder.

It worked flawlessly while we were away no problems with wet food or hangups. I also like the fact that it's battery operated no need to worry about a power outage.

I had a cheaper feeder on my 30 gal tank. I put more fish in the tank than the feeder could feed. Because this feeder has the option to feed twice in a row, I am able to feed all my fish. My old feeder has a skinny drum with a dispenser centrally located. This one has a wide drum with the dispenser off to the side. This means that the amount of food my fish get depends, in part, on the amount of food left in the drum. Eventually food has to be added before the drum empties. My old feeder can empty the drum on it's own. Another problem with the position of the dispense is that is dumps food over a wide ark. I had to put up a foil deflector to keep the food off the floor and in the tank.

My old feeder also had a clamp to hold it to my tank. This one does not. Now I have to move the feeder every time I open the tank.

I found a feeder on here that seems to combine the good features of both of my feeders but I have not used it.AquaChef Automatic Aquarium Fish Feeder 3 in. x 5 14 in. x 3 in.

I love having a feeder. I use it when I am home or not. It does not take away from my ability to feed my fish on my own. It just makes sure my fish are fed without me having to bother with it.

Very good and reliable. You can program it for a a lot of feeds during the day with one or two turns of the food drum. The window that disposes the food is adjustable, to control the ammount of food dispensed on each turn, nothing new.

The good:

* Easy programming,

* the keys are splash proof

* Very good building, looks strong.

* You can program the feeder to, at each programmed time, rotate not just one time, but two times, one minute apart. Why? It should leave some time to slower fish to feed too, the fast fishes rush on the first serving, and on the second serving they are not so desperate, and leave some food the the shy fishes. Very clever and useful!

The OK things:

* Anti moisture system is ok, but not perfect

The one thing that I was curious about was the anti-moisture system, because my aquarium is a closed hood, so the feeder needs to sit on a very moisture enviroment. My last feeder kept clogging and the internal components have rusted because of the moiture, so it broke.

Well, the anti moisture system is composed of an circular opening (a hole) on the oposite side of the drum, and a little red fan inside. So, the fan pulls the air from this hole thought all the internal components (which is good, because they are moisture sensitive too, my last one broke because of rust, remember?) until it exits throught the drum feeding adjustable window.

So, be aware that this hole must sit on a dry enviroment. In my case, I connected a little hose to this hole to pull the air from outside of the hood, a dry enviroment.

But when the fan activates? The fan only spins when the drum turns, it is powered by the drum motor. So it only purges the moisture when the fish is fed. Ok, maybe the battery would not last it it was kept running all day and night long, but I do not know if this is enough to keep the moisture out, I think it is not, specially in my closed hood aquarium. I used this unit for a couple of days, so I do not know if it is enough to keep the food and components dry.

Well, as I do not want to have it rusted to discover, I connected an outside air pump to the end of the little hose that I plugged on the ventilation hole, so I have forced dry ventilation 24hs a day, and by design of the housing, both internal components and food are saved from moisture. I suggest you do the same if you have a similiar problem.

Bottom line, it is a great product.

This product works great once it is set up. Make sure you read the instructions for proper programing. I have a wooden lighting/top on my 55 gal tank and just drilled a 1 1/4 inch hole along one side away from the lights and air tubes. Then I put a piece of paper over the hole and manually ran the unit in different spots until I found the spot where only a minimal amount of food did not fall and drew an outline of the unit position on the top and removed the paper for use. The original batteries are still operating since I started using it in the beginning of June. Recommendation don't let the unit get less than half full and make sure if your flakes are large that you crush them up a little so the scoop works effectively. My fish are happy and I am happy. I go away for long weekends or vacations and they are fine!

I purchased this heater Oct 29, 2010. 14 months later it just stopped working. The temp indicator shows it is working but the temp dropped in my tank without warning costing me fish.

Amazon sent me a replacement.. it too started to leak but I pulled the top from the water enough to stop the leak but keep it heating. I had a background on my 55 gallon Which I stuck on with double sided tape. Where the tape ran, the background was pretty bright, the rest was so-so. I saw this and wondered if it would work to make the whole thing look like the parts where I had the tape. It does! The background is so bright now. It reflects light back into the tank, and makes the whole thing brighter. Amazing! My recommendations: Make sure your surface is clean (mine wasn't, so the bottom doesn't stick too well. Ideally make do it before you put your aquarium in place. Mine was 4 inches away from the wall, so it's impossible to get it perfect. Even still, this stuff is amazing!

You could use this goop or some sort of vaseline based solution for your aquarium background. It was a messy, messy job as I spread the solution evenly over the background. I must not have done that great of a job because my background started bubbling and I eventually took it off. Maybe it's a user error, not the product. I wouldn't buy this stuff again because it's super messy and now I'm stuck with trying to wipe if off the back of my aquarium, yuk.

Marina Power Filter

This filter came in an aquarium set that I purchased recently. It is an awesome filter. Very quiet, very thin! The impeller motor is inside the tank so it takes up less behind the wall space. It is by no means bulky in the tank though! There is an adjustable flow to regulate the amount of current it produces, and also there is a coarse sponge on the intake which is nice for preventing fry from being sucked into the filter. I also like the choice of carbon and ammonia reducing chips for the inserts. It is extremely easy to assemble this filter. All in all worth every penny!

I've had this filter for about a month, and my fish seem to be doing much better with the dispersed flow. Unlike other filters, the flow from the Marina S10 seems to diffuse across the slide. This creates less current and less stress on the fish. As a bonus, I can turn down the flow level during feeding times so all the food doesn't shoot across the top of the aquarium.

The fish in my 10 gallon tank did not appreciate the heavy current created by my old Tetra Whisper filter. Sure, the Whisper did an excellent job filtering waste, but it also stressed out the fish. This filter does as good a job filtering waste and eliminating ammonia, and doesn't stress the fish!

I'm giving this filter 5 stars because it is best-in-class for 10-gallon tanks. No other filters provide as sleek a look; no other filters come with a built-in flow regulator (that I can find....), and no other filters have as peaceful a current for my fish, frog, and shrimp.

I've had this filter 4 months, and really like it. My tank is viewable from both sides, so the streamlined shape is great hanging on the end. The width (7 in) might not be so great if you are hanging it on the back without a background.

The filter is silent. Not quiet, silent. I have to check for ripples to know if it's on. It comes with an intake sponge, so you don't have to buy one if you have shrimp or fry. The size of the motor and intake (with sponge) inside the tank is about equal to a PennPlax SmallWorld filter I had for a while. I don't think it takes up too much tank space.

It's like a cross between an external HOB and an internal filter. The motor is on the intake and the media is outside. The motor is submerged, so does not have to be primed each time you unplug it. The downside is that it's an electrical motor with wire going into the water, so you should unplug it before you stick your hand in the tank, when you clean etc. The submerged motor means the hang-on-back part is all one piece of plastic, no washers or connections to leak.

Media being on the outside of the tank is easy to replace. I don't use the inserts because I don't want to have carbon in the filter all the time. AquaClear 20 media bags fit easily in the sections. I've used BioMax and carbon, and now have 2 BioMax bags in one section and a cut to size filter pad in the other. Purigen 100 mL fits (barely) but slows the flow.

I believe it's a 55gph filter, which is plenty for my 5.5 gallon. I like that the flow is adjustable. It does not have a lot of surface agitation -I get some protein scum even with it on full. Still, I think it's a great filter and the flexiblity appeals to me. I'd buy it again gladly.

I bought this to replace my Tetra Whisper, which was beginning to whisper rather loudly. Assembly was a little complicated, but maybe I wouldn't have thought so if I hadn't felt hurried because my Tetra had crapped out soon after the Marina S10 arrived.I'm very happy with this, and my only complaint is one I read elsewhere, that the plastic lid rattles and makes a buzzing noise. I simply removed don't use the lid, and the only noise I hear is the gentle flow of the filtered water back into the tank. It does seem to aerate the water much more than the Tetra did as well. Overall, very pleased. A good value.

One more thing: This unit takes two filters, and it shipped with two, but one is designed for goldfish ("Bio Clear") and the other for tripical fish ("Bio Carb "). I was glad I ordered extra ones for goldfish so I could place two of those in from the start. I think it would be better if Marina gave you the choice at point of purchase or include two of each.

This item smells toxic. I returned it without putting it in my aquarium. I kept a similar product I purchased from the same company that smelled just as bad and I did everything I could to remove the smell. Soaked it in a bucket for days, ran it through the dishwasher, scrubbed it with Dawn. Nothing helped. I finally put it in a closet. I've had it for over a month and there is no reduction in smell. I don't believe there will ever be time when the smell of the material goes away.

This fake anemone was sold to me by Given-Arts, which is a good seller, and I know that some of their products are great. The cush-ball style fake anemones they sell do not smell bad and are tank safe so don't write them off entirely. I put one in my tank and it didn't hurt the fish. Given-Arts refunded my money promptly for the bad smelling item but refused to pay shipping since they insisted their products are safe for fish and I don't have proof they are not. The customer service was responsive and friendly.

so I ordered this just to control the amount of air being pumped into my fishbowl (if the pump was going full plast the poor little guy would be sent whriling around the bowl). It works pretty well. The knob sometimes slipps off if you turn it too far and there isnt' anything to anchor the tube to anything outside the bowl. There are several control valves and an equal number of splitters to divide the airflow to extra bowls.I'd reccomend this only if you have two fish bowls or just want to regulate the air flow to one bowl.

I installed two airstones in my tank and could not keep them from popping up and whipping around, no matter how I tried to bury the tubing. I found this product and it works great. The suction cups stick to the side of the tank well and have not popped off yet. The tubing is held in place as well as the airstones. It also comes with valve controls which are great to adjust the flow of the air through the airstones. It was inexpensive and well worth the purchase.

Drinkwell 360 Replacement Filters 3 pack

REVIEW ADDED TO DW360 & DW REPLACEMENT FILTERS I'VE MADE: I am careful to replace the DW 360 Filters by (or before) the book, but have to monitor them every 2-3 days, as well as FULLY CLEAN the entire system, to ensure no build up: filter goo ooze in the slats near the handle &/Or film throughout the system. I've had to replace the filters more frequently than the system says I should (under 2 weeks at times).

I have 2 small dogs and keep the system really clean. I was hoping for a less interactive water supply solution, but if it is something the dogs like and encourages more drinking it's really all about what's best and healthiest for them. I do put filtered or purified water into the system and do rinse the new filters per instructions. So far they seem interested in the DW over a traditional water bowl, so I'll continue using it and try to determine what I can do to improve the filter usage, etc.

Rena 721 Filstar XP2 Canister Filter

I have a 100 gallon tank and I paid 500.00 for a wet/dry system that everyone swore would be my last and best filter. Well after a year of loud draining noises and yellow water I ditched it and put on 2 of the XP2's. All I can say is WOW!!!! After only 9 hours my water is crystal clear! I was so used to the yellow tinge in the water I forgot what clear water looked like! My wet dry was rated for a 200 gallon tank and I changed the media religously! It pales in comparison to the XP2's! And the XP2's along with a year supply of filter media cost less than half of the Wet/Dry system! I am sold on the XP2! They are virtually noiseless too!

I did a lot of research when I was trying to decide on a canister filter for my 55-gallon aquarium, and saw a plethora of conflicting information. Eheim was supposedly the best brand, but people described it at "not user-friendly", and they can be a bit pricey. Others looked too cheaply-made to be worth the cost, and I didn't want to worry about replacing parts.

Eventually I settled on the Rena Filstar XP2 canister, and I've never been happier. It's reliable, quiet, and my water is crystal-clear (and that's saying something, since we have very heavy lime in my area). Any time I do a gravel-vac or move ornaments around, the XP2 has my water clear again within a few hours. Even when I slack off on cleaning the media, it keeps my aquarium balanced, runs smoothly, and maintains water circulation and current.

The only problem I've had was a defective hose clamp, so now I have a metal clamp there instead of the black one that came with it. I suggest having at least one on-hand so you don't have to go back to the store when setting up your filter. It also apparently has an automatic shutoff feature if you're silly and let the hose get crimped, like I did. That's the only time it ever ceased to function, which is far preferable to the motor burning out.

Priming this filter is a breeze, as are cleaning it and setting it to work again. The media lasts quite a while, and the only things not included are the Bio-Chem Stars. Definitely worth the money, especially if you're new to canister filters.

I've been using canister filters on my smaller tanks (20-55g) for the past decade and the RENA XP2 is the most impressive by far.

APPEARANCE

The kit was very neatly packaged. The filter itself is definitely not a real "looker", but it certainly has very clean lines. I expected some burrs on the plastic pieces, but there were none to be found. What else can I say about a filter that likely will be hidden away beneath a cabinet or behind the aquarium?

SETUP

It's ridiculous how easily the filter assembled. The media baskets are very practical and easy to manage, plenty of room for whatever you choose to filter with. The ONLY aspect I would consider potentially difficult was fitting the hoses to the rigid tubing -easily remedied with a very light film of petroleum jelly, emphasis on "light". Once the clamp is in place it's nearly impossible to move the hose let alone pull it completely off the tubing. The instructions are clear and concise and the visuals so explicit the text is almost unnecessary.

OPERATION

I am not exaggerating when I say the filter generates only a whisper of noise. My wife wondered whether it was actually functioning until I opened the cabinet and she leaned over to listen. Amazing, considering the volume of water it's filtering. My water is crystal clear, well-balanced and the aquarium's occupants are healthy and robust -testimony to how well the filter is functioning.

MAINTENANCE

I've never had another canister filter so easily maintained. Flip, pull, pop some clips and "voila" easy access to everything. I can change any media and swap filter pads all in less than 10 minutes. I'm so spoiled I wish I'd never have to see another wet-dry filter as long as I live.

You really can't go wrong with this one. Two thumbs way up.

I have had this filter running on my 25 gallon tank for about 2 months now. It's more filter than I need for the size tank I have, but I have a few more fish than the tank is rated for. It keeps everything clean and fresh. The fiter is quiet and easy to clean. I really like the baskets you can put different filtering media into. Overall, a great filter.

One issue to note if you buy this filter: fry can get sucked into it and not die. I opened up my filter last night and noticed six mollie fry in the bottom. I was shocked that they could live in the filter they must have been in there for about two weeks or so given that I hadn't seen any in the tank in that long. Just an FYI.

These look good and the suction cups are working great (although I did use some spit right off the bat cause thats classic) ...but I wonder if the plastic variety would be better in my high-humidity terrarium ...the silk does look good though. I tried to find Abuliton genus information but all I kept finding were references to cannabis bushes the leaves on this abuliton are similar to the cannabis plant there's no denying it but since they are fake and silk, there's no danger. I first found one bag in my local fish store in the reptile section and figured I'd give it a shot for my tropical freshwater aquarium as a background plant but first I emailed Hagen company to hear it from them that it was safe for use in water with fish and they confirmed that it was. So I soaked them in a bucket of water conditioned with Prime and added them to my tank. I love it! I bought 4 more and they are very natural looking and hide all my equipment and tubing and provide hiding places for my fish. I highly recommend these. update April 2010: These have been great for our Aquarium, and over time with some algae to them, they look pretty good. They don't fray as much as other silk plants do and only now after all this time are they showing signs of slight fraying the only problem is our plecos are constantly un-sticking them from the glass lol my advise is if you're just setting up your tank and it is dry still, place these where you want them and then, silicon the suction cup in that position so that they no longer move if you have sucker-mouth fish or large active tank busters. So if live plants are not for you for w/e reason, I do recommend these.

I was ready to send this back but once installed into my 20 gallon tall it actually looks great. A few quality issues so it only deserves 3 stars. The plant could use some more leaves to help cover the linking plastic. The suction cup is just okay, and I've already had it fall from the side. The back part by the suction cup is ugly so it needs to be suctioned to the back. I did have some metal wire exposed at the top by the suction cup and had to fix it. This does cover most of the back of my tank and my fish seem to be happy and playing through the leaves.

This product VERY well cleans the gunk from the gravel. I have medium river rock and it works fabulously! Couldn't live without it! This is a rather large product good for 50 or more gallon tanks as it drains water rather quickly. If you have a smaller tank, choose the equivalent product in the small size. Your fish will thank you.

This is a pretty standard gravel vac. Yes, it does have the extra wide head (in the shape of flattened hose, so its wide width-wise, but narrow height-wise), and that does let you get into spots that you otherwise would not be able to reach. I have been using this with a 55 gallon and a 29 gallon tank. The medium size seems to work well.

This gravel vac also comes with a nice clip, so you can attach the clip to the bucket that the water is going into and not have to worry about the hose popping up while you are reaching around the tank. If you've ever had a hose come out of the bucket and spray water over the floor while you're cleaning a tank, you will recognize how nice a feature this is.

Here's how you get it to work:

1) Get the water bucket ready and hold the large side of the tube in one hand and the thin end of the tube in another hand.

2) Submerge the large end in the fish tank so that the tube fills up with water.

3) Put your finger on the end of the narrow side of the tube.

4) Raise the fat side of the tube up out of the aquarium just a bit as you let a little bit of air out of the tube from the skinny end with your finger. The action is just like letting a wee bit of air out of something inflatable.

5) As you raise the fat end and let a bit of air out of the skinny end, you will see the water move through the tube. Do this until the water is right at the skinny end of the tube, almost touching your finger.

6) By now, much of the water in the fat end will have moved into the tubing. So submerge the fat end into the aquarium again, filling up the whole chamber.

7) Let the water bubbles in the tubing clear out.

8) Now put the skinny end into the bucket (keep that finger on), and submerge the fat end in the fish tank.

9) Remove your finger from the skinny end and the water will spurt out. Viola your gravel vac is sucking up water.

A gravel vac is an essential fish-keeping item, and this is a good one. Get it.

These gravel vacs are so much more useful than the crap with narrow mouths that you find in chain stores. My previous one lasted me six years. How come these can't be readily found in stores?

I have a 40 gallon, bow front aquarium and this reaches the bottom easily. The suction is easy to start and the end piece is a decent size to make the job quick. I have used other aquarium self starting hoses that did not work as easily as this one.
