Acrylicare Pads for Magnetic Algae Cleaners
It's much easier to clean algae with white pads because of the high contrast. You can also easily see when something get trapped in the pad before you scratch up the whole inside surface. Black is just too dark and not what I wanted. Was very unhappy with my purchase.Ive been using these for six years on my bow-front acrylic...they are by far THE BEST acrylic cleaning pads you can buy...i wouldn't waste time with any others...trust me, ive tried!

Ecological Labs AEL20120 Microbe Lift Barley Straw Extract Pond Conditioners for Aquarium, 1-Gallon
Works quickly to eliminate problems with String Algae.Maybe it is the 18,000 gallon pond, but I put plenty of this stuff into the pond over several weeks and I was plenty much pouring money down the drain there was zero change in the algae. We use it for our River Otter exhibit to keep things under control and safe for animals. Used it for many years just do make sure you add it consistently. As many people are aware and others not so sure, it does not KILL the algae, it just makes the water not desirable for algae, so add it on a consistent basis, if you wait for alge to take over it is already too late. So keep things in check by always adding the correct dosage on time to keep algae almost non existantThis works so well in my pond. I have to use a lot over the course of the summer, and this is by far the best value out there.

36" Fluorescent Strip Light in Black
Buy 36" Fluorescent Strip Light in Black Now
I ordered this because I needed a 36" light for my 36" tank. I was bummed that the bulb was only 24" but I didnt want to pay $80 or more for one with a 36" bulb. Now that I have the light Im REALLY bummed because when I put it on my 36" tank it was to short.I checked it with a tape measure and the fixture (plastic housing)is 34&3/4" long. A full 1&1/4" less than what I need and what its advertised as.So now I have to modify a brand new light that cost me just under $40 (with shipping)in order to use it the way I need to. If your looking for a 36" light that NEEDS to be 36" this isnt the one that you want.UPDATE;I just recieved an email from OZBO the merchant that sold me this light. They offered to reimburse me for the light including shipping costs.I'm both surprised and impressed, in my experience the customer pays the shipping.I'm keeping the light its still less expensive than the others I looked at and I can make a couple of brackets to hold it the way I want to. With this type of customer service I would buy from OZBO again!

The price was right on this light strip! Please note that the bulb is only 24" but it gives off more than enough light. The plastic housing is 36" the light itself is 24" bulb. Deceptive IMO and I will think twice before buying Aqueon products in the future.Sunday, August 31, 2014
Malaysian Driftwood
When it arrived boy was I happy, I was hoping for a sort of L shaped driftwood that would provide shelter for my fish and I got exactly what I wanted. I was quite surprised at how lucky I was. I purchased the small one and it measured out to be about 11 inches and looks beautiful in my 10 Gallon tank. The driftwood itself is very beautiful and has a brown/tan color to it.
It is real driftwood so you have to boil/soak it before you put it in the tank or else it will tint your water brown. I soaked mines in hot water for 1 full week and it leached quite a bit of tannin. Even when I put it in my tank it leached a little and tinted my water but it wasn't as bad. The tannins actually lowered my pH which is good for my fish and the slightly brown tint looked great in my tank.
I posted a picture of my 10 Gallon tank so you guys can see the driftwood. Hopefully that can help you guys decide if you should take the risk or not. Please let me know if my review helped thanks. The driftwood looks so good in my tank I want another piece! The shape was not what I expected. It's a bit like a stump with a long thin piece sticking out. I don't mind, it just isn't want I thought of. Anyway, it's in the tank. I boiled it once for about 15 mins. After 24 hours in tank there is no discoloration to the water. I like the way it looks. If it helps, I uploaded a picture that should be available with the product image. I want another piece but I want one that is more of a tunnel for my Pleco to hide in.I thought this product was going to be too small for my tank. However this piece was perfect, after soaking it for a day, my water was crystal clear and it added a nice center piece to my 20 gallon aquarium.

CREE LED 72 watt DIMMABLE Reef Aquarium light Model XPG R5/XPE = 250MH
Tank description
10 gal saltwater
12lbs live rock
3-4 inch sand bed with 10lbs of live sand mixed with 20lbs of play sand
leather coral
just added cleanup crew (sails, emerald/hermit crabs, peppermint shrimp)
about to add midas blenny and photosynthetic corals
Update: added frogspawn, torch and plate corals all doing very well, I also have a maxima clam who is also doing very well. this is a very good light. do not be afraid to put a strong light on your tank due to algae growth algae can only grow to the point of absorbing all the nitrates if you maintain the tank well and have a strong cleaning crew algae will not be a problemI purchased this for a 24 gallon jbj nano cube. I didnt want something that would break the bank but I also wanted a fixture that was dimmable and this one fit the bill.
Well my first fixture had 2 led's that were off in color so after contacting the seller they sent me a return label and I was able to return it and a little while longer I received my replacement.
All the led's were good to go in the replacement but the case was a little bit different than my first fixture. The first fixture had nice rounded edges and looked like it was pretty well put together.
The replacement didnt look like it was put together as nicely but hey at least it was going to get the job done. The whole process of returning the old fixture and getting the new one took about 2 months so that stunk. Overall I'm happy with the led fixture. I've owned the tao tronics or however you say it and those were nice too. If I had the choice of going with this fixture again or saving up and getting something better, I would probably save up and go with something better. I do feel like you get what you pay for in this hobby. Although you may not need to spend $600 on led's that will get the job done, I would have gone with something a little higher end such as AI SOL's or something comparable. Anywho I hope you find this somewhat helpful.
Thanks!

DrTim's Aquatics One & Only Live Nitrifying Bacteria for Cycling Aquaria
Buy DrTim's Aquatics One & Only Live Nitrifying Bacteria for Cycling Aquaria Now
Started 20 gal Fish Only, Bare Bottom Tank with this product. The fish were being moved from an existing tank. I made up my salt water to match the fishes existing environment, used an un-seeded canister filter and simply added "One and Only". Tank has been up and running fro 6 weeks now. The fish never missed a beat. This is the first time, for me, in 30+ years of fish-keeping,that an additive performed exactly as claimed. I was a little concerned that I was not utilizing any substrate in the tank, which would normally be a good medium for beneficial bacteria to live, but I did fine with the canister filter providing a place for the bacteria. I highly recommend this product.Read Best Reviews of DrTim's Aquatics One & Only Live Nitrifying Bacteria for Cycling Aquaria Here
After loosing far too many fish (belonging to my grandchildren, but living at Nanny's house) I began looking online for a line of products with great customer reviews. I found Dr. Tim's. I spent quite a bit for the following products for my 10 gal. fresh water aquarium One and Only, Waste Away, Clear Up, Refresh. After once again loosing two gorgeous large butterfly gold fish to ich, I started over with two new Carandas and these products. I was able to put the fish in on the same day using Nestle's purified water which is all I use. The water stayed clear and clean and I've had very little upkeep. I use these products weekly, rinse the filter in between new filters and I've had a gorgeous tank with two of the most beautiful fish I've ever seen one red head with white body and one very bright dark gold. Yes, they are a bit expensive, but when you consider the cost of new fish and replacing everything each time you have to start over Dr. Tim's is well worth the money. They also have great customer support.Don't bother with the cheaper products it's just not worth it in the long run. If you can afford it, use Dr. Tim's.

Catalina Aquarium CA 2200 Aquarium Pump 850 GPH
Buy Catalina Aquarium CA 2200 Aquarium Pump 850 GPH Now
This pump has been used as the sole sump pump in my brothers 60 gallon aquarium. It has been running non-stop for one year with about 4 feet of lift (my only complaint is that the flow is a tad slow at this height, hence the four stars, I would have chosen 4 3/4 stars if it was available). Even with the sump completely dry (forgetting to check water levels) the pump has not failed. Purchasing a second one for our pond. Pay attention to reviews that don't indicate that they purchased from amazon (other reviewers might be mistaking it for another pump).Read Best Reviews of Catalina Aquarium CA 2200 Aquarium Pump 850 GPH Here
This pump is super fast and powerful. However, there is no way to control the pump speed....After two months it died on me....There's not much else to say. Unfortunately I will need to get another one of these because there is not much choice in this price range. So I suppose you get what you pay for.Want Catalina Aquarium CA 2200 Aquarium Pump 850 GPH Discount?

Drinkwell 360 Replacement Filters 3 pack
I have 2 small dogs and keep the system really clean. I was hoping for a less interactive water supply solution, but if it is something the dogs like and encourages more drinking it's really all about what's best and healthiest for them. I do put filtered or purified water into the system and do rinse the new filters per instructions. So far they seem interested in the DW over a traditional water bowl, so I'll continue using it and try to determine what I can do to improve the filter usage, etc.Order this regularly for the Drinkwell fountain. Better price than in pet stores. Hint: The stainles steal fountain came back and it is the better ne, not the plastic

Petco Bookshelf Freshwater Fish Aquarium
The tank LOOKS much bigger than it is because of the length, and it also has more surface area than many 6 gallon tanks. The surface area is important for gas exchange, so this is a big plus.
The bulb that comes with the tank isn't the best for live plants, but it's a size and type that is readily available at any big-box DIY store. I replaced the original bulb with a 6700 Kelvin (daylight) one for about $7, and the tank looks much better for it. The plants are much happier, too!
The only flaws are that the plastic is VERY easy to scratch, and the tank tends to leak from under the top trim. Lift the trim off the tank, lay down a bead of silicone sealant and replace the trim this will stop the leaking.
Overall, this is a good deal and a very nice tank. I would recommend this to a friend.Shipping time: Great as this arrived aprox 4 days from Amazon purchase date
Packaging: Everything was either boxed or plastic wraped or both.
Dimensions: as it is 24 long by 8 deep and 12 high, it has alot of floor surface area. This was ideal as my tank inhabitants are bottom dwellers. MUCH more space than other small gallon/desktop tanks.
Price: Super for what you get. I did add filter media (5-10 gal sponge and white ceramic bio)from my local pet shop, small heater, bubble wand and my own decorations.
Cover and light: There is a small lid for feeding in the front. The clear acrylic topper has lots of punch outs for addition needs ( like air tubes and heaters). The light works just fine and has a bluish glow. This is easily upgraded.

First off, this is a good tank. Well packaged, good construction and components. Very attractive, excellent shape for 6.5 gallons. Looks bigger than it is. The acrylic is nice and sturdy and in my experience was not easily scratched. The filter seems to work well, pretty quiet and can be dialed from low to high depending on your fish needs. The light works fine and the hood has a convenient door for feeding the fish. In order to access the inside of the tank, you must first lift off the light fixture and set it down somewhere. Then underneath there is a clear plastic lid that your remove and set aside and then you can access the inside of the tank. I recommend this tank as a good value and it's unique dimensions for a small tank are very attractive. Don't plan on putting much in this tank however, at 6.5 gallons it is only suited for maybe 1 betta and a bottom dweller or two.Read Best Reviews of Petco Bookshelf Freshwater Fish Aquarium Here
I received this tank as a Christmas present for my betta. I really adore it! You can't fill it up above the rim because the rims actually pop off. Because there isn't an actual seal the water leaks right out if you fill it above the rim. While it's slightly annoying, I appreciate that in the future I could run this as a rimless tank if I could furnish a different sort of lighting (the rim is required to support the light fixture). It's difficult to find nice rimless tanks in this price range so I'm pretty happy about that. While my betta lived in a 10 gallon tank before so this may seem like a downgrade, he actually has much more usable space and loves to zoom from one side of the tank to the other. :) The dimensions are just lovely for bettas and really pretty much any fish. It has the same proportions as a 20 gallon long, just mini. I put it side by side with a 10 gallon tank and it's 2-3 inches longer, but of course much shorter and thinner.
I cant comment on the filter because I just used the filter I already had running in my 10 gallon-an Aquaclear 20.
There was some cloudy-looking whitish substance on the glass when I filled it up (it wasn't visible when the tank was empty) [***EDIT: I figured out what was going on with that-I was using a sand substrate and the residue from it left a film on the walls of the tank. I discovered this once I used the same sand in a completely different, old tank I had lying around and the same thing happened. So this is NOT the fault of the manufacturer of this aquarium.***] but it rubbed off easily with my finger. I didn't rinse the tank, though, so that might have prevented it. Once I removed the cloudy-looking stuff the tank is crystal clear. It is acrylic so you should only use micro-fiber on the outside and an algae scrubber made for acrylic on the inside-glass scrubbers WILL scratch this aquarium. Luckily there are products on the market that remove scratches (I can't vouch for their effectiveness, though, as I haven't used them) if you have a slip up. I really like that acrylic tanks like this one have no seams on the edges like glass tanks do, where they were bonded with silicone.
Also, this is a bowfront tank but because it's so long the bow is very slight, so there is literally no distortion. Which is awesome.
The light fixture isn't the best. At first it kept going out and turning on again like the bulb wasn't staying in correctly. I haven't had a problem in the past couple days though. I'm also going to change the bulb to a daylight bulb (6500 K) because it is better for growing plants. I really like the fact that the piece supporting the light is clear throughout, because it allows you to stick another light fixture behind it (I will post pictures explaining what I mean by this) for greater watts per gallon (only important for live plants). The second fixture I used, which is the same size as the one that comes with the tank, was for an 10 imperial gallon tank (this is about 12 US gallons, but the proportions are different for UK and US tanks).
Overall I am very very happy with this tank. Best gift I got this year. :D
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think I figured out the deal with the hood/light. When I changed the bulb I realized that the one that comes with the aquarium is a few centimeters smaller than a standard 15 watt, 18 inch florescent bulb. If you buy a new bulb it will have a tighter fit (but not too tight--the light it comes with is too loose) and it will stay in place better. It kept turning off on me because the old bulb would slip slightly out of alignment. I have no idea why they would include a non-standard size bulb in what appears to be standard size hood, but that seems to be what's going on. A new bulb (which can be easily found at Wal-Mart) does the trick. [EDIT: Two weeks with the new bulb and no problems at all. It cost me $8 at Wal-Mart, but cheaper ones can be bought if you don't have live plants.]I purchased the Petco Bookshelf aquarium through Amazon and I am THRILLED with it. I did it in an Asian theme and it is beautiful. Aqua colored gravel, a pagoda, bridge, bamboo and grasses. My blue Betta thinks he is in heaven! I love the long syle of it. At 6.6 gallons, it gives fish lots of horizontal room to swim the whole length of the 24" tank and plenty of room for plants and decor. The flourescent light brings out the colors of the ornaments and makes the betta glow with beauty. The pump and filtration system work nicely and my pump is quiet. It was shipped VERY quickly, I got it within 2 and a half days, and it came double boxed. Inside the main box it was packed really nice. The tank itself was inside a plastic type bag to help minimize scratches. For the price, it is better than anything I have seen at local pet stores. I'm thinking of getting another one I like it so much. If you are thinking of getting an aquarium, don't let this one pass you by. I think you will more than happy with it. Thanks for reading my review and hope it helps!

SunSun HW-304B 5-Stage External Canister Filter w/ 9W UV Sterilizer, 525 gph
Very simple set-up. I have been up and running with this canister now for 6 weeks. Priming was simple, good water flow, no drips or salt creep of any kind.. VERY QUIET as well. So far I am very pleased with the performance. I have yet to turn on the UV sterilizer since this is on a new Salt set-up. I will update in another month after I remove for first cleaning.. I will be adding more Bio-media.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------So I bought one of these filters for my 75 It works great. As for those that say its an older model of the aquatop that's not really true if you do you research on these filters sun sun is one of the largest aquarium companies in China they are the mother company not a cheap knock off I run all three models the 302 the 303B and the 304B the UV sterilization works great I'm testing these filters against fluvals. And yes they do work better. Stop paying for a name and just buy what works.

Presently on a 200 gal. tank containing two 12 in. koi and fifteen 4 in. asssorted golds. Working great! Will buy another shortly for another tank.So I had big plans for these filters. Originally I had bought two to put directly into the bottom of a 220 gallon plywood tank but those plans fell through. The tank ended up leaking and I don't have time to fix it before I leave the country for 2 months. So I set both of these bad boys up on my 40 gallon tank with two messy turtles in it. I have a cascade 1000 on that tank that has done a decent job for its work load but it couldn't never keep the water crystal clear. It doesn't have enough current to push debris up from the tank floor towards the power head on the other side. Once I added the SunSun's, there was so much pressure moving the water it completely rearranged the substrate in the tank even pushing golf ball sized rocks out of the way. Pretty spectacular amount of water these things can push. Now any particles are quickly pushed around the tank in the water column instead of resting on the substrate and pushed into 1 of the 3 filter heads I have. I spent a few minutes just watching tiny particles speed from one end of the tank to the other straight into the intake hoses like they were magnetic! My water looks clearer than I'd ever seen it! and hopefully the UV lights keep it from never turning green. I'm hoping to be able to cut back on constant weekly water changes and possibly keep it at around every 2 weeks with these.I put a lot of carbon pads, extra cut to size filter pads as well as 500mL of purigen in each filter on the top tray to polish the water as well. I've heard great things about purigen from fishkeepers everywhere so that might be a good reason my water is so clean as well.
Set up was a snap, all the parts came in a white box. more parts than you'll probably need actually. I didn't use the surface skimmers but its a good feature.
BTW I bought both of mine on ebay instead of amazon. Found them for 80 bucks each. total investment of 160 with free shipping from California to new england. what a steal!

the seller was perfect to deal with, the product description was on point, and the filter arrived a day ahead of time. the filter has been running for around three months now, its operation is very quiet, and there have been no mechanical issues. if i ever decide to start up anlther tank i'll definatley be using a sunsun.
