Acrylicare Pads for Magnetic Algae Cleaners

Acrylicare Pads for Magnetic Algae CleanersWas sent black pads rather than white pads as shown in the picture. Seller didn't care and said it wasn't their fault or their problem.

It's much easier to clean algae with white pads because of the high contrast. You can also easily see when something get trapped in the pad before you scratch up the whole inside surface. Black is just too dark and not what I wanted. Was very unhappy with my purchase.

Ive been using these for six years on my bow-front acrylic...they are by far THE BEST acrylic cleaning pads you can buy...i wouldn't waste time with any others...trust me, ive tried!

AquaClear 30 Activated Carbon, 1.9 Ounce

AquaClear 30 Activated Carbon, 1.9 OunceThis is such a great addition to my filter. It really helps keep the fish water clean. Will buy again.

We have been using these filters for years but it is now much more convenient through Amazon. The filters are identical to what we have been buying at the store.

The item purchased is for an amazing filter and as a much needed update to my old filter which was slowly dying it works very well. Better I think than the old one ever did

Fluval Nano Aquarium Filter

Fluval Nano Aquarium FilterI bought this for my 6 gallon book shelf tank, and while it is a little big for it, I love it. I can just fit it into the tank, but I do not use the spray bar. The suction cups work well and keep the filter positioned nicely. The only frustration with the suction cups is that if you are not careful in mounting them they slip and you will not get it where you want it (since I have little room to play with, that was important). Also, if you do not apply careful (VERY careful) pressure, you will cause a slight seperation between the impeller unit and the filter base...which leads to my main gripe and the reason why I did not give this 5 stars. The two pieces come apart too easily when trying to move things around. The suction cups should have a lift off tab, because they really stick.

As for circulation....you will have plenty. It is a pretty powerful little filter and creates a strong current when fully open. The beauty is that it has a little plastic valve that controls the flow and works very well once it is set. Setting it is another point of frustration....but once you get it, you won't have to play around with it and you can forget it. I tried several different mounting options both horizontally and vertically and finally settled on the traditional vertical mount. I also bought the carbon inserts....pretty much a waste of money and I got pieces of carbon on my white sand. A MAJOR pain. I am not deducting from this rating, because it is not part of this set up, but rather an optional purchase. Still, if your tank is cloudy, chances are you need a good amount of activated carbon....here's a tip. Get an old nylon stocking, tie one end. place enough carbon to fill the slot and tie the other end. Easy and cheap and very functional Don't forget to rinse it a bit before putting it into the tank. The little cartridges are just not enough and too expensive.

I did have a problem with sound as well, as if it were grinding gears, but I think the problem was air. I completely submersed the filter, and angled it to make sure all the air got it, and sure enough, no more grinding sound. I will also mention that this was one of those VERY rare times that I did not look to Amazon first and bought this at a local (well known) "pet company." Serves me right and lesson relearned...Amazon has it for half the price and free shipping!

This is very quiet as long as everything stays FULLY submersed. I like the filter box, as you can put your own media in it, which I recommend, as I mentioned with the activated carbon. If anything changes, I will update. So far, I like it!

This filter works fine for a small tank but the high flow rate bothers my fish. If you turn down the valve, it causes the motor to buzz annoyingly. Next time I will buy a tank capable of taking an external canister filter. But if you need a cheap in-tank filter this one will do the job.

Buy Fluval Nano Aquarium Filter Now

I bought this at a local aquarium store in hopes of replacing my Marina S10 Slim profile filter for my 5 gallon shrimp tank. It was too large to fit upright in the tank and the flow was far too strong for my shrimp. The flow is adjustable but when I turned it down it rattled so loudly that I thought something was broken. I then moved it to my 10-gallon hospital tank and again the flow was so strong that the fish constantly struggled to not be swept away. (I did have a few ill/weak fish get stuck to the intake and expire.) I have turned the flow down and have that annoying rattle in the kitchen where my hospital tank is located. (****Update: After three weeks the filter finally quieted down, probably because water flow is more impeded by matter in the filter media. I raised the rating to three stars from two now that it does not sound like a train is going through my kitchen.)

In the future I am going to buy a mini canister filter (either the ZooMed 501 turtle canister filter or the TOM aquarium mini rapids canister) for my smaller tanks in order to have the spray bar and better filtration for my planted tanks.

Also, the filter cannot be moved while it is on; the portion that contains filter media falls off very easily if the filter is plugged in. Both parts of the filter are stuck to the glass with suction cups but they are no longer attached to each other, and trying to put them back together with the filter running is impossible.

I would not recommend this for anything smaller than a 15-gallon tank. The flow is far too strong for most creatures that would live in a nano tank.

I like Fluval products but I do not recommend this one.

This exact same filter came with my Fluval Ebi tank.

*The actual media included in the unit comes with a large thin sponge layer followed by 2 more sponge layers...no biological or chemical filtration is included although it is possible to custom fill the media chambers with your own mix.

*The motor is attached MAGNETICALLY to the media chamber...needless to say that means this thing pops open in half quite often, releasing waste products and dirty water back into the tank every single time you want to move the filter around or take it out for cleaning.

*Popped the filter in after scaping the tank and wanted to use it to clear the water of the substrate that got kicked up, it's rated for tanks up to 15 gallons and with the Ebi being a 9 gallon tank it's technically more filter than you actually need...have had the thing running for about 12 hours now and the water is STILL extremely dark and murky...the stock AC20 that came on my Edge cleared the water to almost crystal clarity in 30 minutes.

*Uses a spray bar design to supposedly re-direct water current so as to not disturb sensitive fish and plants, except that when the waterflow is set to low it sounds like a bucket of gravel that got tossed into a food processor and when it's set to high it actually creates just as much if not more water disruption than other filters and because this thing is designed for smaller tanks (specifically nanos) that totally negates the entire point of having a difficult to clean spray bar.

*Impossible to put a sponge or bio-bag over the filter intake to protect fish fry and baby shrimps.

At $15 this thing is a flaming rip off when there's literally dozens of cheaper and better designed filters out there, like the AC20 which is only $3 more but about 300x the filter that this thing is. Hagen usually makes amazing products and I am a huge fan of their Fluval line of nano tanks and accessories but there is seriously no excusing how piss poor this product was designed and priced. I wouldn't even take it for free.

If for whatever reason you *MUST* have an anemic internal filter that's grossly overpriced buy this product..otherwise do the smart thing and get yourself a decent hang-on-back filter.

I have 2 in my 5 gallon tank one with mixed media and the other with Seachem Purigen only my water is crystal clear (fresh water). Silent operation in general. I think the top valve connector could be a bit better, however, it has held up without issue on both after several months 24/7.

This is a nice simple clean product that works. I tried the whisper line, and this is a much better solution for a small fresh water set. I suspect you could ladder several for up to 25 gallons...?

Well made, suction is very aggressive, no breakdowns at all. Perfect small tank can filter.

Rena Air 100 Air Pump

Rena Air 100 Air PumpOver 5 years ago, when I asked my local aquarium store for a recommendation on a quiet air pump I was told "Get a Rena". So I purchased one and hooked it up. The pump was so quiet that I couldn't even hear it operate which was important since the aquarium is close to my bedroom. Finally after years of faithful service the pump began to wear out with less and less output. I went to another aquarium store and was convinced by the sales clerk to get a Tetratec model. When I hooked it up it made so much racket that I couldn't sleep. I then went back to the orginal store and they sold me a rebuild kit for the pump for less than $8. I renewed the pump and once again it works flawlessly with no discernable noise. Rena pumps are just fine quality devices I highly recommend.

I bought this pump today and hooked it up. It made almost no sound. You could only really hear it when you put your ear next to it. I have been ignoring the loud rattle that my old pump made for entirely too long. It costs more in the stores than the other pumps, but its well worth it. Heck, the fish seem happier without a big rattling thing vibrating their water, remember sounds carry better through water than air, so if its loud for you, imagine how it is for them!

Buy Rena Air 100 Air Pump Now

I just got in my 2 new Rena Air pumps. I have been on the long search for a quiet pump. This is it. I would suggest this to anyone who has a tank located where noise can be a factor. I am hopeful these will be running worry free for a long time.

I bought this pump at Petsmart about 2 yrs ago and it barely functioned at all. I returned it and ordered a Hagen Elite from Amazon that has been working perfect non-stop for 2 yrs. I recently set up a new tank and was looking for an air pump, and decided with all the good reviews, to try a Rena again hoping my bad experience was a fluke. Well the same exact thing happened. This thing was barely capable of literally sending 3 or 4 bubbles every minute out of an air wall. So I went to my local aquarium store and purchased a Hagen Elite again (which was half the price of the Rena), as I should have done in the first place. Worked perfect, sending out a thousand bubbles a minute. One bad experience could be bad luck, but not two. I would never purchase a Rena air pump again.

Want Rena Air 100 Air Pump Discount?

I've had this pump for roughly two years. It works fine and everything but one day I needed to change the airline and while doing so, the knob that the line slips over broke off at the base! I've pretty much treated this pump with kid gloves for these two years. I use it at room temperature, I don't store it weird with anything putting pressure on the knob, and I don't take off and on the airline frequently. I think the time it broke was maybe the third time I changed the airline. And I wasn't yanking on it either.

Therefore, there is no reason for this breaking besides it being of poor workmanship.

So I called Rena to see if they'd rectify the matter or if there's even a part that could be purchased to replace it and while the gentleman that I spoke to was very polite, they wouldn't stand behind their product because the short one year warranty was up. He also said that I could purchase a casing (at my expense of course) IF this guy he gave me the number to has any. I didn't even have that option because it was a dead number.

So let's review:

1. Puts out air fine.

2. Knob breaks with regular or less than regular use.

3. Manufacturer won't even stand behind product when defect reflects on their own workmanship.

My conclusion is that there are many air pumps that will pump air that don't break and will be backed up by the manufacturer when they're at fault. My money is best spent on one of those other brand's air pumps.

Fish Bubble

Fish BubbleThe bowls do their job and to be honest, there really isn't anything wrong with them. However, you have to clean them every two weeks or they become disgusting and start to smell. I suppose that's how it is with all non-filtered fish bowls but these are not the easiest things to clean.

Again they're a good product. There is nothing wrong with the design or manufacture.

This fish bowl is WONDERFUL! It is super-easy to install, and really user-friendly. I like that the opening is a bit smaller than the bowl itself, to help prevent any disasters from acrobatic fish leaping. Ours is in our M.Bath, housing Little Bleu, a beautiful beta that matches the decor. The bowl reminds me of a submarine window, in reverse. I like that our family cat cannot get to the fish-cat can watch, but has no access whatsoever. I plan on getting another soon.

AA Aquarium Spare Bulb UV9W

AA Aquarium Spare Bulb UV9WReplacement bulb doesn't Last 6000 hours (about 8 1/3 mo.) as stated in the Green Killing Machine 9 watt Internal UV Sterilizer with Power Head Lasts only 3 to 6 mo. As stated on box and on the manufacturer's website at "This is not a disposable unit, UV lamps have a life span of 3 to 6 months in constant use. However, it is only suggested for use with green water and unit shall be switched off if water is clear." It also says: "UV radiation at a wavelength of 254mn making the unit extremely effective in controlling bacteria, yeast, moulds and other pathogens." While it does clear up green water, I thought it helped prevent disease. If the mfr. says that it can be shut off when the water is clear, then it only "..is effective in controlling bacteria, yeast, molds, and other pathogens, in turn (as it relates to) controlling algae growth."

All promotional material says: "Prices for these replacement bulbs are very affordable." This is misleading to me, since the yearly cost of running the UV bulb 24/7, and if it lasts only 3 months, can be about $90. I got my replacement bulb from The Umbrella Group who is a very reputable reseller, but I think they may have originally gotten some incorrect info from the mfr?

I have had the Green Killing Machine for over a year now (in a salt and fresh tank) and I love it! I originally bought it for my 36 gallon fresh tank when it was going through a horrible case of algae bloom. It had that thing clean in 7 days (it was a TON of algae) even after chemicals and 0 light for a week couldn't do it. I have since used it in my 36 gallon salt water tank it works great!

The only thing I don't care for about it is the odd/awkward/ugly design... but if that is what it takes to make it work.. *shrug*

On the replacement bulb specifically it comes as one plug and play unit, no need to take the old case apart and reseal. Worked great!

I bought two of these for my two Discus tanks from my local shop. The original bulbs lasted about 4 months. My local shop did not have the replacements,so I came to AMAZON.COM.All is good so far right? I started to see that these are hard to find so I purchased four replacement bulbs for $133.00 ( i believe I had the bigger model, forget the size) The first bulb lasted 2 weeks, the second 1 week, the third did not work at all and the fourth lasted 2 weeks. And no,I did not replace them incorrectly. Please note that this is a great product WHEN it works. My best advice is to keep up on your water tests and water changes. And remember,if i'm taking the time to write this, there are MANY more people who are just disgusted and trashed this unit ,and called it quits without saying a word.I hope this company goes out of business.

I bought the Green Machine and knew right away it was working great. Then it stopped working so I bought this replacement bulb. Well, it's been over two months and I'm stumped as to whether it's working or not. My water is still cloudy (off and on) and the blue filters don't seem to be catching anything. There is no indicator light (at least on mine) that I can see that shows me whether the device is working and frankly, I can't even decide if I like it. I'm kind of bummed because I was looking forward to this doing as great a job as the original part did, but again, I just can't tell. I'd hate to have to shell out for a whole other UV machine, but frankly, I'd rather do that then keep paying money for a unit I don't even know is working!

Want AA Aquarium Spare Bulb UV9W Discount?

I bought this unit at the local pet store. I needed algae control in an outdoor top-less 45 g fancy goldfish tank (in FL). It was the cheapest one I could find. It did clear my water, but seems much less effective now, 9 months later. Flow rate is very low, but I guess a low flow rate helps this weak 9 W unit to be effective.

I have not been able to get the light unit apart to inspect the bulb and chamber, so a replacement bulb might be kind of moot. It looks like a lot of people have not had good luck with replacement bulbs, so I am going to consider this a disposable unit that is dead.

One thing I have noticed with replacing UV bulbs in other units (Coral Life TurboTwist and Custom units), is that you do need to be very careful not to touch the bulb itself with your fingers. Something about the oils from your fingers damaging the bulb coating. All of the replacement bulbs have warnings about this. I did not take this seriously at first, but find that I get MUCH better replacement bulb life if I am super-careful and do not handle the bulb directly.

Jungle TT101W Jungle Lifeguard, 12-Tablets, 12 tabs

Jungle TT101W Jungle Lifeguard, 12-Tablets, 12 tabsI bought this product as a last minute hope of saving my Pearl Gourami. The Pearl was extremely ill. It began with rocking back and forth (front to back, not side to side). Then eyes clouded, lesions formed and erratic darting around the tank began. The Pearl then was barely breathing, lying on it's side on the bottom of the tank. I dropped the treatment in anyway, even though she appeared to be a goner. I had picked it up from Walmart and was a little skeptical, but it was worth a try. In the morning she was upright, and actually ate a little. By day 3 of treatment, she was back to 90% and by day 5 of treatment (final day), you would never know she had even been ill. This product works better than any I've used.

But a word of caution: The main ingredient is essentially a broad disinfectant and will likely wipe out your good bacteria, destroying your bio-filtration. So keep an eye on ammonia levels. I also recommend if you have multiple tanks taking a handful of gravel from a healthy tank, putting it in some mesh or panty hose, and tucking it into the filter or gravel of the treated tank *after* treatment is complete and a water change has been done. This can help speed up the rebuild of good bacteria.

I don't know exactly what was in my fish thank that was making the water cloudy ... But, whatever it was these tabs cleared the water after the first day. I have a 15 gallon tank so I use three tabs per day.

I used them before from wal-mart but only had enough to treat for two days. I had also left the carbon filter in. It cleared the water up for about a week, but because I didn't follow the directions and didn't treat for 5 days, I think is why the water became cloudy again ...

I have three more days to treat the tank. I followed the directions this time. If the water does get cloudy again after following the directions with this treatment, I'll post an update. If it stays clear, you'll know it worked for me!

Aquarium Products Pro Quick Cure for Fresh and Saltwater Aquariums

Aquarium Products Pro Quick Cure for Fresh and Saltwater AquariumsOne of my Black Moors had a wicked case of the Ick. It had white dots all around the edges of all fins and in some places the edge of the fin had began to split and die. It generally acted sluggish and you could tell it was unhappy.

Cons:

The green food coloring type additive in the medicine will stain whatever it touches. It is my assumption coloring is added to the medicine so you can see how much you are putting in, but it is possible it is the natural color. Either way it stains your fingers, and certain things in the tank. My air hose leading to the air diffusers are what are the most obviously stained. But it is not severe, and nothing in the tank is so stained that I will even worry about taking it out. It also stained the silicone around the edges where the corners are sealed. If you have an expensive tank set up with high end ornaments, you might want to take to take the time to empty the tank or seperate the fish into a smaller container. The directions say to add this to a "bare tank", I did not take the time to empty the tank. The rocks and ornaments I have are fine afterward, just the above mentioned green tint in a few places.

Don't let the dark green coloring deter you from adding the proper amount of medicine to the tank. As you start dropping it in, it appears quite menacing, to the point that you are afraid it will harm your fish. BUT, it wasn't until I got past that fear and dropped 40 drops in a 40 gallon tank that my fish began to show signs of getting better.

Pros:

The effects were fast. Within hours of adding it I noticed the larger white bumps emmitting air bubbles. I could actually see the parasite being killed, and air emmitting from multiple spots on the fish's infection. Within 2 hours of seeing that the fish's disposition had improved dramatically.

The medicine reversed the disease in my one fish tht was infected and I saw no other infections among other fish.

Directions:

Remove carbon filter, add one drop per gallon daily until cured for all fish except Tetra. For Tetras add one drop per 2 gallons. Replace carbon filter 24 hours after final use. Do not use on invertebratess, live rock, baby whales, or elephant nose.

Zoo Med Laboratories AZMFA41 Sinking Poly Resin Aqualog, X-Large

Zoo Med Laboratories AZMFA41 Sinking Poly Resin Aqualog, X-LargeI have a 46 gallon tank, with a largo pleco(12 Inches), and a large Red Parrot Cichild(8 Inches FAT!). They love hiding / going in and out of this thing. It has bigger opennings than any other log available on amazon, and is great for hiding large fish, or allowing multiple schools of small fish a place to hide out in. I received it within a few weeks, and it was not damaged like one of the other reviews says. I would recommend it to anyone with Medium to Large size fish that need a place top hide.

I have ordered this log THREE times and had to return it each time because it was broken into a million pieces. Worst service I've ever experienced. Packaging is completely horrible, and it takes WEEKS to arrive. When it does finally arrive after weeks, it's smashed into several small pieces; hardly recognizable! This happened not once, not twice, but THREE times. Whoever packs these logs need to be fired for the absolutely awful packing job they do. If you're interested in this log I strongly recommend you find somewhere else to purchase it because the chances it will be broken are VERY high.

Nutri-Vet Multi-Vite Senior Soft Chew Supplement for Cats, 3-Ounce

Nutri-Vet Multi-Vite Senior Soft Chew Supplement for Cats, 3-OunceI have three senior cats hoping they'd all like these, but oddly enough, only the really finnicky one likes them. But he is currently the most ill, so it works out well for now. Until his mood changes and he stops liking them....which is the way it goes with some kitties. He has a host of ailments so I don't anticipate a huge difference, but if I notice one, I will repost.

I've bought numerous treats for my two cats, and these are the first treats that both my cats love. A lot! One of my cat's hates all cat treats, and he loves these. I buy the blue bag chicken and tuna flavor, as well as the orange bagthe hairball relief kind. The cats love them both so much. I will definitely be buying these for a very long time. I wish my local pet store still carried them.

I also used to buy these at PetSmart and was so disappointed they stopped carrying them (their new brand doesn't even put glucosamine in its senior vitamin treat..???). They are the only thing that's helped my 14yo male with some significant back leg issues. After they stopped being available, I put him on Cosequin for a couple of months and all of his problems came back (Cosequin is great for bladder issues, though!). I'm so glad to find these again!

Want Nutri-Vet Multi-Vite Senior Soft Chew Supplement for Cats, 3-Ounce Discount?

I would give this a 5 star rating if it was just based on how much my 23 year old cat loves these treats! The description didn't give the "dosage" which is recommended on the package as 5 a day---YIKES!!!---so they don't last very long. I have found that they are a little too large for her to "grab" in one bite but you can break them in half easily enough with just a fingernail. They are a little on the stinky side but not too bad. She loves the flavor and they seem to be perking her up a little bit. She's pretty finicky when it comes to things like this so I am very pleased that she likes something that seems to be helping her. I reordered and got 2 bags this last time (I'm an optimist...we don't plan ahead on a lot for an ancient kitty like Willow lol). The seller also ships quickly.

Acurel F25 Millimeter Water Clarifier, Aquarium, Treats 250 Gallons

Acurel F25 Millimeter Water Clarifier, Aquarium, Treats 250 GallonsI had set up a 55 gal tank and the water remained cloudy for almost two weeks. I was told just be patient as the water needs to stabilize. I waited. And waited. Finally I thought the water should have cleared so I began using products claiming to clear cloudy water. No luck. Until I used Acurel F. I was blown away. Within an hour the tank was crystal clear. Truly amazing stuff. Use this product. It really works!!! I've been using this, and only this, for almost 8 yrs. now. For that just polished look you won't find anything better.

Provided you use it as directed, to clear silt or dust from the water column...this is a great flocculant for aquariums. It binds small particles together into larger particles that your filter can more easily handle. I always use it after a large water change, since I tend to disrupt things with the addition of the new water.

Not as fast as it said it would, so I added more drops as directed. We lost 6 fish in the process (Two guppies and 4 head and tail light tetras.) I don't know that I can blame it on this product as the tank was getting pretty bad. It is now crystal clear and has remained that way.

For the reason of losing the fish I would not add more. If it doesn't clear up as fast as they say, be patient and give it 24 hours.

UPDATE: Have used this again but only put in 1/4 to 1/2 of recommended dose, a day apart...works like a charm under those circumstances. Still does not work as fast as they, seems to work best overnight, fish are fine.

My tank wasn't too bad but still was not satisfied with the clarity and wanted it to be more clear. After adding only 15ml's of this and an hour later the haziness that I was complaining about, cleared up. I only put 15ml's in it which is only half the amount I should have put inside a 275 gallon tank. After adding it in it did make it more cloudy which made me stop adding and just waited, which I guess was enough. Now I am satisfied with how clear the water is, definitely makes a huge difference and the product is cheap.

Vibran-Sea Amazon Butterfly Leaf Silk-Style Aquarium Plant, Extra-Large 18-19 tall, PlumThis plant is perfect! I Love the color, it brings so much life to the tank. The movement of these plants is beautiful, but because it is so soft and tall it doesn't really stand straight up. It becomes kind of vine like, and moves around a lot.

Perfect for my needs, because I have a lot of driftwood in my tank to hold it where I want it. This is my turtle's favorite plant as well, he has made his "den" underneath it. I am switching to all silk Vibran-sea plants in my 55 gallon turtle tank, and I think I'll end up with 2 extra-large, and 3 large to give it a full effect.

Very flimsy. From the day I placed it in the tank it fell over and and has not moved since. It is sitting at the opposite end of the tank where it is out of the water flow, so that is not the cause. It is basically a trash collector for food bits and algae. Next tank cleaningin the bin it goes.

First off let me say this, this picture does not do this product justice. The product that I received clearly does not look like the picture. I was happy with this product at first, except that it didn't stand up right, the plastic was a little flimsy and would not stand up straight. I solved this issue with a small plastic rod and zip-ties to hold it in place. The biggest issue came a few months later when I saw that my filter were picking up little blue filaments. The silk plants do not last and the blue stuff goes into my filters. One last issue I had is these plants are pretty hard to clean. Perhaps I'm not cleaning them correctly, but if algae gets on them they are there to stay. They are pretty to look at in the water, but not worth the trouble. I'm going to stick with plastic aquarium plants from now on.

I really liked the way this plant looked when I got it, it looks great in the water and moves around like a real plant would. I am disappointed because it has stained a lot. I've tried cleaning it, to no avail. I've read that you shouldn't use bleach to clean anything that will go back in an aquarium so it seems that there aren't too many other options. Nice looking plant if you can figure out a way to clean it.

Picked up two of these Vibran-Sea tall silk plants paired with one medium and they fill up my 75gal tank perfectly. I've had to clean them once in the last six months due to algae buildup. Just lightly scrubbed them under warm water and let them sit in water with bleach. Cleaned them off with declor and other recommended chemicals to neutralize the bleach and they came out with no discoloration or fading. I've got a 175 gal filter on the tank and it does have a tendency to blow over the plants and move them slightly, but this could be because I use a sand substrate. Very vibrant colors in the purple and blue, I'll be sticking with this company to purchase any more plants in the future for my aquarium needs.

Sicce CO2 Life 2 CO2 Injection System, 75gal

Sicce CO2 Life 2 CO2 Injection System, 75galI purchased in hope it would bring lots of CO2 to my 75 gal, heavyily planted tank. It has a small impellor on the bottom and a 'carbon stick' on the inside that is replacable after several months.

Well I installed it and ran it 2 weeks. I saw NO evidence of any CO2 production coming from the unit, no bubbles or anything and NO improvement in the plants. I sent it back to AMazon.

I went full tilt and bought a 20lb filled tank of CO2 locally ($120.00, and the rest of the system from: Freshwateraquariumplants.com. For $199.00, it icludes C02 Tubing, Red Sea Reactor 500, and a great needle valve/regulator.

After two weeks now, my algea problem is gone, and I'm trimming my plants back!!!

I have attached it to the timer to produce CO2 during the day when the lights are on. I have seen the CO2 increase from almost 5ppm to 30ppm (with medium setting) in 2 weeks. I am not sure how long the cartridge will last though, I am told it will last for 3 months.

I did not see any co2 bubbles coming from this unit what i did get was a big mess to clean up the filter media and my phosphate media were covered in black carbon. i would not recomend this item to any one.

I installed one of these units a couple of weeks ago in my 75-gallon tank, and it has had a transformative effect on the plant life thus far. I understand that

using a pressurized CO2 tank is more cost effective over the long run and lends itself better to fine-tuning. But for someone who doesn't want the trouble of a more complicated set-up, this item is a terrific solution as it involves nothing more than sticking it in the tank and plugging it in.

Cleaner Pump for biOrb & biUbe

Cleaner Pump for biOrb & biUbeCompared to other siphons, I like this one because of the pump. The material it is made of is not the most durable when compared to the other siphons. Since I only use it every other week, I don't think that durabilty will be an issue. I saw this item at some of the big chain stores for a much cheaper price.

I have a Baby biOrb that I use for a betta fish. I'm new to the whole aquarium thing and I really had a hard time changing the water. This pump makes life a lot easier. Although it's biOrb branded, I suppose it could be used for any aquarium. This product gets one star off because the package labeling could use some work. There's an attachment included with the pump that mystifies me. The labeling only uses pictures and not language, and does not mention the attachment or how to use it.

Buy Cleaner Pump for biOrb & biUbe Now

Works as shown. Do people really need written directions? My goodness.

BTW only one place that the attachment will fit. A little examination will allow you to see that one end is threaded, the part that goes into the tank. Unscrew the fat end and screw in the attachment for deeper gravel.

Easy to use little manual pump for the BiOrb. Perfect size for the tank. Easy to keep clean.

Three pumps of the bladder starts the process working but it doesn't quite filter the junk at the bottom of the tank as I had hoped. I need more practice I presume...

Fish & Aquatic Supplies Activ - Flora Freshwater Substrates - Flora - Core Red 16Lb 2Cs

Fish & Aquatic Supplies Activ - Flora Freshwater Substrates - Flora - Core Red 16Lb 2CsI went to to buy a couple bags of eco complete but the Activ-Flora really caught my eye. It looks far better than in the online pics. Mine had none of the white specs. It actually looks like crushed slate with some pieces having layers of clay-red, black and gray. It has numerous layers to it (silt at the bottom, fine garins, med grains, then the slate-like top layer). The peices that sit on top look fantastic, unlike any other substrate I've found. I almost didn't buy it because I had never heard of it but I'm really glad I did. Mixed it in with some FlorsMax Midnight (black, like Eco Complete, but w/ better, richer coloration and a little red). The two combined look amazing. The ActivFlora looks extremely natural and compliments the wood in my tank beautifuly. The fish love rummaging through it and my ghost knife and clown loach have become far more active, searching through the activflora all day. The plants do great on it. I rarely do online reviews before but I am so happy about this product that I though it deserved a mention since it looks so much better than that tired stuff that everyone buys these days.

Jardin Plastic Dark Gray Air Stone Aquarium Plant, 7.5-Inch, Purple Blue

Jardin Plastic Dark Gray Air Stone Aquarium Plant, 7.5-Inch, Purple BlueThe seller, uxcell, was great, but the product isn't worth the bother. The plant will not remain buried in the gravel of the aquarium because the force of the bubbles is too strong.

Lee's Betta Keeper Large w/Lid, Gravel and Plant

Lee's Betta Keeper Large w/Lid, Gravel and PlantI bought this as a temp home for a betta until I got her a larger living space. it's great for that. I now use it as a hospital tank for my bettas to recover in, w/o gravel it makes medicating easy and travel time to the surface is shorter for the sick fish wich is a plus.

I would never recomend this as a permanent home for a betta. the general rule is 1 gallon for every inch of fish.

My son received a beta as a gift, and when we went to the store to buy an aquarium, the clerk recommended this tank, and also recommended getting a second beta to add. In hindsight, he wasn't looking out for our fish, but for his profit.

Even though betas CAN live in small spaces, I would not recommend it. Even for one beta, this tank is too small. It gets dirty easily and needs to be cleaned once a week, which is an immense stress on the fish. The fake plants provided with the tank don't help with the water quality either.

For now, we moved our beta to a large glass baking bowl, and we are in the process of shopping for a larger tank with an undergravel filter and live plants, plus a heater. I absolutely agree with the other review: If you can't afford a good tank for your fish, don't get one. Betas like space, too.

This container is way too small to keep any fish in, let alone two. In such a small container, the fishes' wastes will build up quickly, causing eye and skin irritation, sickness, even death. You can try to reduce the waste build up changing the water frequently, but not only is this a lot of work for you, it is stressful for the fish.

In addition, if you want to keep bettas in a divided tank, there should be decorations for the fish to hide behind when they need a break from flaring at each other. This tank is too small to allow that, another source of stress.

Thirdly, bettas are tropical fish. They need a tank heated to a constant 80F. It is not possible to safely heat a tank that is smaller than 5 gallons.

If you want to get bettas, please read some of the excellent websites available and learn all you can about their care. If you cannot afford a proper tank, please don't get a fish.

I don't house my bettas permanently in this, but for water changes and as an isolation tank for any sick bettas, this works wonderfully! If you look at the better breeder websites, (and their barracks photos), no one is housing their bettas in 1 gallon tanks for each inch of betta. That would be a phenomenal waste of their space.

While most 'pet' betta owners have more money, time, and room for better...this product isn't as bad as some people are making it out to be. Has...dunno....maybe about a half gallon of water space? Better than some prettier betta vases I've seen. If this is all you can afford, it is still better than leaving your betta in the pet store container, and your fish will survive just fine as long as you do frequent water changes. Housing two bettas in this is about the same as leaving them in those store containers though. If you're looking for short term temporary housing for multiple bettas, this is fine..if you take into consideration quarantine concerns...as the water is shared.

But, I use mine only for water changes and if one of my 6 bettas gets sick. Easier (and cheaper) to medicate a small bowl versus a larger tank...and works perfectly for what it was purchased for. Just keep the gravel and fake plant out if you have a sick one. Less to sterilize afterwards, and they really don't need those while they're recovering.

This tank is only suitable for a hospital tank or when doing water changes. It is too small for one Betta, much less two. I used to have a betta in one of these tanks, and then I moved him to a ten gallon tank. He looked so much happier. He flared his fins more and he swam around the whole tank. If you really want to enjoy watching your betta, do not get this tank.

Exotic Environments Lighthouse Ruin Aquarium Ornament, 6-1/2-Inch by 6-Inch by 9-Inch

Exotic Environments Lighthouse Ruin Aquarium Ornament, 6-1/2-Inch by 6-Inch by 9-InchThis looks great inside my tank. The fish love swimming inside and all around the lighthouse. I am very pleased with the way it looks inside the tank.

I was extremely pleased with this product. It provides a lot of different sized openings for fish of any size to enter and hide. I have a 46 gallon bow front tank, and the size fits perfectly, allowing for room to put plants and other decorations. If you've got a smaller tank, obviously you'd be limited with how many decorations you'd be able to use in conjunction with this item.

Overall, a good purchase for the cost.
