Tetra Pond Debris-Handling Pumps

I've been running this pump all summer, and it is fantastic! I have debris problems with a river birch that dumps leaves at the slightest hint of drought, but this pump keeps on working. Input is easily cleared up with a net or ground up by the pump. Very low to no maintenance required. Tetra hit a four bagger with this one.

I would have giving this five stars at first but This was a replacement for the same type as the first only lasted 8 months, hoping this will last a bit longer. The first was sent back to Tetra for warranty and they replaced it with a new one. Seems the impeller was rubbing on the back casing causing it to overload and cut out on heat build-up. Great pressure and flow is the best I have had out of five differant pumps. Cheaper to run as well!!!

So far so good. A pond service guy I called was recommending a whole new setup for my very dirty pond (abandoned for months by the previous owner). I guess his recommendation of an external pump and humongous new filter and all new piping made more "sense", but the $4k plus price tag scared me off. I ordered this pump and it started pumping out a very pleasing and fast stream right away. My pond still has too much algae but for that I'm going to try the filter from the same company next. And the pomp appears to be having no issues even though there is plenty of small debris in my pond. All in all, very pleased so far. And oh, it was a snap to install the necessary pipes, I just needed to go to Home Depot to get the correct sized pipes and flexible connectors.

In another miracle, 3 koi out of the original 7-8 appeared to have survived the dirty water in the pond with a barely working pump, and no pump working for multiple months :-)

I got this pump to work with the Tetra Pond Bio-Active Pressure Filter BP1500, Ponds up to 1500 Gallons. this pump has been great so far and has not clogged up. I had a very dirty and mucky pond and it has really done a nice job of pushing all the stuff to the filter. My pond is very clear now and I can actually see all my fish again :)

I have taken it out of the pond 2 times just to clear off the debris sticking to the out side of the filter.

the only problem is the hose size and size of the pump for my pond. my pond is just over 350 gallons and not very wide so the pump takes up some room on the pond floor, but it does work very well

Aruliden Fishscape Fish Bowl

LOVE the beauty of this bowl. Absolutely stunning, and we get non-stop compliments. Problem is that one of "mountains" developed a crack after 6 months and the bowl can't be used anymore. We gave this bowl TLC and the crack came on suddenly, seemingly without cause. The manufacturer won't stand behind their product and told us they won't do anything for us since we've had it for "so long". For this price, I expect something that would last longer than your average inexpensive fish bowl. This is the best looking fish bowl I've ever seen, but definitely not worth the price.

I bought this bowl thinking it would be an art piece and unique fish bowl. Unfortunately, every fish I put in it died within two days, including two bettas and one goldfish. I quickly removed the second goldfish and put him in another fishbowl I had laying around. It's been six months and he is doing well. So I have to assume it was the bowl. I did make a terrarium out of it and the plants (succulents) have survived, but I'm wondering if there was something in the annealing process that does not make it suitable for fish. Other than that, it's a cool piece.

Beautiful piece of art. But it provides no nooks or connecting points (with gasket at bottom to prevent leakage) for airpump, filter, light, etc. So best to use with spherical algae and maybe some small shrimp. Oxygen stones maybe required from time to time. Wiping algae off the inner structure can be a chore. But still quite neat. Sorry, I don't own this.

Reef One Biorb Easy Plants

Plants look so very realistic! Outstandingly beautiful and so easy to install and clean.

Only complain I have a about is that both Plant's size it's extremely alike. One is huge while the other is tiny, i wasn't expecting such big difference since it is not specified in the description. Box simply states "Medium" size, and actually I consider one as "big", and the other as "small".

Besides that, they defenitely improved my aquarium appealing... everybody loves it now, specially my fish! =D

These are the best artificial aquarium plants I have found. The ceramic weights make positioning them easy. They seem to have a more rubbery feel to them, not the stiff plastic like alot of others. You can spread the leaves apart and they actually stay that way for a fuller look. I also love the colors in this particular pack of plants. Nice splash of fall color.

These are cool artificial plants. I like being able to just drop them in and move them wherever you want. You never have to worry about them becoming dislodged and floating to the surface. Love the bright colors too. Also, they are not too stiff and move well in the water. When algae builds up I just pull them out, spray them with the hose and drop them back in. I would never buy another brand after trying these. Worth the extra money and the price on Amazon cannot be beat.

Sporn Nylon Non Pulling Dog Harness, Large/X-Large, Red

I got this and was excited to use it. I put it on my boxadore. Which was not easy to put on him. once it was on my two year old boxadore we went for a quick walk around the block. It didn't work as well as it says. The nylon ripped right in half, and he wasn't even really pulling hard that time. It was helping him not pull as much with in the first 5 minutes he was using it before it ripped. This isn't made to last strong muscular dogs like boxers. I duck taped the straps back together with black duck tape and layered it strong. Now it works again. He still pulls when my husband takes him for a walk,but it does hellp some.

This is a nicely made harness, other than the sherpa slipping out from under my dog's armpits, as noted in other reviews of other sizes. That could be fixed with a few stitches. However, even without the sherpa (so the rope would be harsher against the tender armpit skin) this does NOTHING to reduce my dog's pulling. He is trained to walk on a slack leash next to me, but is dog reactive on leash and has pulled me over lunging at other dogs. He's an 85-pound Boxer and Ridgeback mix. I know to keep a safe distance and can focus him into a sit/stay if I see one coming, but sometimes one walks unexpectedly around a corner. That's why I got this harness, but it is totally ineffective, as is every other anti-pull harness I've tried. This one at least I have a little bit of control, unlike the ones that have the leash attachment in the front, but the ring for attaching the leash is at the end of the rope loop, so even walking him using my leash's handle which is next to the leash clip, I am still a foot farther away from him than on a regular collar I use a martingale collar so he won't slip away. Oh well! I'll donate it to a rescue, its not a bad harness for a dog that doesn't pull.

Basically, it came kind of in an old condition. Other than that, I wanted to give it a try for my hamster because I was waiting all day for it. A long time hobbyist of 35+ years it seems the battle against Algae is one that will rage on indefinitely. This scrubber is excellent. Thick and coarse spun nylon makes removal of both green and brown algae as effortless as it can be. The scrubber is perfect for the sides and bottom and equally effective in edges for corners and those hard to reach places.

Acrylic tanks are gorgeous but as you already know they scratch easily I've never had a problem using these, just always make sure to never use the pad on dry acrylic above the water line.

The picture is clearly misleading. It shows the filters for the replacement kit, but what you see, sure as heck isn't what you get. I used the picture as a guide as to what would be included in the order, but all I got was a huge box with a tiny piece of foam that wasn't worth 10 cents, much less than $10. What gives? Mardel Maracyn-Two Powder Packets Water Treament (Freshwater), 24ct

Maracyn 2 is a synthetic form of the tetracycline class of antibiotics and is more broad spectrum than others. This is a very effective antibiotic which can be combined with Maracyn or used by itself. It is one of the best antibiotics that can be purchased for fish disease. It is also very safe so overdosing shouldn't cause any issues. One thing to note is that this product like all tetracycline type antibiotics become dangerous after they have expired. Once the expiration date passes it must be disposed of.

This medication is especially effective for septicemia and fin/tail rot. It can also be used to treat popeye and dropsy. Another benefit of this antibiotic is that it acts as an anti-inflammatory, helping to reduce redness and swelling.

Make sure you remove any carbon/chemical media from your aquarium filter when using this. If you keep this media in, it will absorb the medication and potentially cause antibiotic resistance. Also make sure you treat for the stated time. Like any antibiotic, not following the proper dosage and timings can make it ineffective and again lead to resistance as only some bacteria are destroyed while the others that survive mutate and proliferate.

Also just a tip, add some Aquarium Salt to the aquarium while treating for disease as this will help in healing, as well as help prevent advantageous parasites from complicating things further. Do not use regular table salt as it contains iodine! Aquarium salt is cheap, available on Amazon and it will last you forever.

Update:

Just thought I would add some more info to this post as this is really the only available antibiotic for fish diseases on Amazon.

This antibiotic is effective in freshwater but not really in salt water aquarium's. Hard water will also reduce the effectiveness of this antibiotic as it is absorbed by dissolved calcium in the water.

Although this antibiotic can be used to treat dropsy, it can be especially taxing on the kidney's. Because dropsy is caused by the kidneys failing to remove water/fluids from the inside of the fish, it can make things much worse. Kanamycin is the best for this disease.

I have had pretty good success with mixing this antibiotic with fish food rather than treating the aquarium water. If you have a large aquarium, or don't have access to another tank, this method may be more economical and even more effective.

To treat this way you have to 1st be sure your sick fish are still eating!

-Take a small cup and throw in some pelleted fish food. Add some hot water, just a bit more than what would be necessary to cover all the food, then mix in half a packet of the Maracyn-2.

-Leave it for 1-2 hours to allow the food to soak up the solution. You should also swirl the contents a few times.

-Dispose of the leftover solution and place the treated pellets in the aquarium. Make sure your fish are eating them!

-If you choose to go this route, you should feed the fish these medicated pellets daily, and continue to do so a few days after the disease appears to have been cured.

You may want to try soaking the pelleted fish food you have in some tap water 1st to make sure they wont just completely dissolve in the water.

"New Life Spectrum THERA A" is a fish food available on Amazon which by itself, help's with fish diseases. I have found that these pellets do not breakup and are able to absorb quite a bit of the solution. It is available in numerous pellet sizes. Be sure to get the Thera A version.

If anyone has questions about this or treating fish diseases, leave a comment. I have had to learn quite a bit about fish diseases over the years as I attempted to extend the life of a fish that had Tuberculosis.

Maracyn-Two works very well. It actually cured dropsy in one of my fancy goldfish about 2 years ago. You should keep it on hand ready to use, because you have to act fast (if it is dropsy). It also works well on fin rot and I have used it 3 or 4 times for that. You don't have to be in a big hurry if it is fin rot.

I don't use a hospital tank. I treat the whole 30 gallon tank with this stuff. It does not seem to hurt the beneficial bacteria that get rid of ammonia. It also does not bother the other fish in the tank that are not sick. Doesn't faze them a bit, although you would think so, since it does make the water look a little yellow and cloudy. I can't think of a worse thing to do to a sick fish than to take it out of its home and into a hospital tank. Besides, it takes a month to get a new tank up and running (cycled). Just treat the whole home tank. Will take a lot of packets of this stuff, so the little 8 packet box won't do much good. Get the 24 packets. Don't be afraid to use this stuff. It won't hurt anything.

The directions are pretty good. Read them all, not just on the box, but inside. The diagnostic chart inside is very good. The only thing I thought was vague in the instructions was what to do if you want to do 2 5-day treatments back to back. I think the best advise is to stop after the first 5-day treatment and do the water change and put carbon in, for 3 days. Then after that 3-day "rest" period do the second 5-day treatment. But you probably won't need it. If you do, another approach would be to try a different med, like Maracyn Plus maybe. These Mardel meds are the real deal.

Note this Maracyn-Two is for freshwater. I think there is a separate product for salt water.

By the way, I would not use potted plants in the aquarium. The little bit of dirt on the root ball will have lots of foreign bacteria that your fish have never encountered before. Dropsy bacteria are in dirt. My fish that had dropsy, it started 4 days after I put a potted plant in the aquarium.

I am extremely impressed with this product. Now, I'm not master fish keeper, but I noticed right away when my little red betta wasn't being himself. He would float at the top of his tank almost looking dead, and he was developing cottony white patches on his little bum and tail fin. I did some research and found he had a fungal infection. I got this castle for my one gallon Betta fish tank, I chose the smallest size and when I put it in the water it took up a lot of room and freaked out my fish. But it will defiantly look good in a bigger tank and is well made.

So ok I've gone off the deep end. But this is one in a whole series of aquarium decorations I've purchased, and this one , I find, is the bestthe most sturdily constructed, artfully decorated and architecturally challenging and comforting to the betta. It fits into the awkward hole in the fluval tank. Recommend highly for 6 gallon tanks and bored fish. I have a 46 gallon tank, with a largo pleco(12 Inches), and a large Red Parrot Cichild(8 Inches FAT!). They love hiding / going in and out of this thing. It has bigger opennings than any other log available on amazon, and is great for hiding large fish, or allowing multiple schools of small fish a place to hide out in. I received it within a few weeks, and it was not damaged like one of the other reviews says. I would recommend it to anyone with Medium to Large size fish that need a place top hide.

I have ordered this log THREE times and had to return it each time because it was broken into a million pieces. Worst service I've ever experienced. Packaging is completely horrible, and it takes WEEKS to arrive. When it does finally arrive after weeks, it's smashed into several small pieces; hardly recognizable! This happened not once, not twice, but THREE times. Whoever packs these logs need to be fired for the absolutely awful packing job they do. If you're interested in this log I strongly recommend you find somewhere else to purchase it because the chances it will be broken are VERY high.

We got this little aquarium for my daughter's first fish, a betta. It is the perfect size. We even have a small plant in it. We did decide not to affix the stickers on the front because they blocked the fish from our view. Overall, very cute!

I decided to get a pet fish, spur of the moment. I started looking for starter tanks on here and we can all agree this tank is very cute. The day after it arrived I went to the pet store and picked out 2 fish. The pet store employee and I talked for awhile. Because this tank DOES NOT HAVE A FILTER, he gave me a product that required me to drop 2 drops of the substance into the fresh tank water every time I cleaned it so it could help purify the water. I was so excited to bring my fish home. Took ALL the necessary steps when it came to helping them adjust. Not even 48 hours later, 1 of my fish was dead. I thought maybe the product had something my fish had a bad reaction too. I cleaned the entire tank again, this time leaving out that step. My fish seemed to be doing absolutely fine. After a few days, it stopped eating. Not only that, but at night it was VERY active and would have these spazz attacks. Just now, it died as well. 2 fish in less that a week. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this product AT ALL. It is VERY small and because it does not have a filter, the water turns absolutely disgusting within 24 hours. There is no doubt that there were high levels of bacteria and ammonia. There was nothing I could do, either. I tried to keep it as clean as possible. This tank is inconvenient and I beg anybody that clicked on this page to please not purchase it.

Aquavista 500 Wall Mounted Aquarium with Rama Background

I love this aquarium. I am a fish lover and have various tanks in my house. I saw this and thought this is definitely something differnt, not only in looks but in function. The set up was easy, just hang it on your wall and add water and fish. There is a control panel on the side that maintains all the components, filtration, airflow, etc. We have it in out foyer so people see it right when they come in. We've gotten so many positive comments and even our friends have purchased a couple!!

I ordered the tank with the silver frame to match our stainless equipment in our kitchen and it looks great! I actually received the aquarium the next day! Set up was a little bit of a challenge as the depth is only 3 3/8" inches on the inside on the tank and I put a couple of plants and a piece of driftwood ( found me a few pieces of African driftwood with a depth of less than 3 3/8", terrific selection and excellent prices too). I originally put substrate (for shrimp) over a mesh covering the semi open bottom and the aquarium was overtaxed and became violently ill. I remedied the problem by slowly taking everything out and replacing the substrate with gravel and it works great now. The tank is very well designed and thought out and it comes with a net, cleaner pad on a pole, gravel (white), a mechanically manipulated mini grabber and everything you need except fish. Well written instruction manual with company phone number and a problem section which got me through the subsrtate problem. It's only been up for two days so I'll write an addendum if there are any problems. Jody Koval

I put this in a medium sized bowl for my beta. He loves it. It is easy to clean no sharp edges on rh one I received. You may want to double check yours before putting it in. Great item and looks good for being fake. Easy to clean.

Exotic Environments Medieval Castle With Metallic Blue Tops

OK, not good.

My daughter wanted a castle for her fish bowl. She picked this one out by the appearance. I approved it based on the dimensions given (would fit her fish bowl) and the castle window appeared large enough for her fish to swim through.

The castle's size is as advertised but there is no castle door/window (it's not open as pictured). The black hole in the right side, acts as the swim-hole, but is only sized for a teeny tiny fish. Her Beta will never get thru it, so...while we'll still use it, but it was a disappointment.

Beware, this castle seems quite popular as MANY sellers had it advertised.
