I've had this item a long time before I wrote this review. The stone weights that keep it in the soil have not fallen off. The plants stayed connected to the weights! Over time, algae has grown on the leaves, making the false plants look even more lifelike. They are really good aquarium toys. Sturdy and realistic.

Just received my order today,and what can i say i was very pleased with my selection,these are the most beautiful plants that i own now, they were a little bigger than what i expected,the base is attached to a pretty rock that hold it in place in the gravel,i would recommend them to anyone looking for that real look in the aquarium. UPDATE-i really wanted to like these plants but overtime i begin to struggle with algae outbreaks in my tank and sadly had to remove them and switch to plastic the algae is extremely hard to remove from these plants so i had to take away two of the five star rating will not purchase again.

I purchased this item for my new 44 gal tank only a few months ago. At first it looked great and colors were fabulous. But after only a short period of time it is falling apart. Major segments of the plastic stem detached and were floating at the top of the tank. Also algae growth is very difficult to remove from the leaves.

I do not think there is anything extraordinary with my tank and my fish are not overly active or aggressive. But I do think this is a poor product and (for the cost) a poor value.

These plants are beautiful and they look very real in the water. The large one is very big, at least 14in so if you have a smaller tank like I do be prepared for it to bend over at the top of the tank. Even so, it adds extra hiding spots for my Betta who likes to sleep among the leaves.

This size kritter keeper holds about three gallons of water. I've found it makes a good hospital tank for ill fish. Its the perfect size so dispensing medications is more cost effective. Plus, you can route in a penn plax smallworld filter (minus carbon, because that takes medication out of the water). Sick fish need aeration, and it works in this small tank.

Never, ever make this kritter keeper a home for goldfish. Contrary to popular belief, goldfish need lots of water to make up for the massive amount of waste they produce. This size would be alright for a betta (who should never have less than a gallon of water, again, contrary to popular belief), maybe a trio of guppies if you have a filter.

This kritter keeper is great, as long as you know how to properly use it.

I recommend this product for keeping pets that don't gnaw or chew like crickets, small tarantulas, hermit crabs and ,my favorite, walking sticks. I am using the 8 Kritter Keepers I bought to start rare seeds indoors in pots. The clear door between the carry handles allows me to see from the top how my seedlings are doing and work inside the Kritter Keeper. The lids come in 6 colors all of which are bright and cheery. When not in use they can be cleaned and stacked together. I love my Kritter Keepers!

I recently bought a second crowntail Betta named Osiris as a next door neighbor for my red veiltail Betta Anubis. At the time, I only had a half gallon bowl to house Osiris. I knew it was only going to be a temporary home for Osiris. As a Betta lover, I would never house my fish in anything less than a gallon permanently. Unfortunately I do not have that much room in my tiny one bedroom apartment myself so I thought the medium Kritter Keeper would be ideal for Osiris. With the addition of blue gravel and a few plastic plants, my Betta is now thriving in his new home. He has lots of room to swim around which is a vast improvement from that dinky plastic bowl I had kept him in, or the plastic cup he was in at the pet store where I bought him. As for changing his water, I never pick up the tank by the handle. It is best to carry it by the tank itself. As someone who lives by herself in a small one bedroom apartment with not a lot of surface space with two male Bettas, I certainly can recommend the Kritter Keeper for people in similiar situations who owns Bettas. Osiris loves his new home. He has already blown a bubble nest in it.

I have owned similar items over many years. These are very expensive where I live and I was happy to find them on Amazon.com for a reasonable price with free shipping. For those unhappy with the cover colors, it does say in the description that colors are "assorted." These are plastic, so one has to take care that they are not dropped or scratched with hard objects. Also the handles are not meant for heavy lifting; these can be easily lifted from their bottoms without the stretch and distortion common to thin-walled plastic containers.

That being said, I received two of these and both have stood up well. The bases are sturdy, despite being filled with water for my bettas. The covers securely snap to the bases. The central opening also snaps securely. I have owned other brands of kritter keepers and the central openings were not secure so that I had to place a heavy objects on the tops to keep my critters from escaping.

My bettas enjoy the space. It's true that bettas can be kept in small containers but they become lethargic and depressed. I "upsized" their swimming area, added a few more floating plants (alas, plastic ones), and they've come to life. I've been rewarded with bettas that swim and strut their glorious fins and colors.

Although the dimensions say 11.9 x 7.8 x 8.1 inches, the dimensions of the actual plastic tank (not including the cover) are 11 x 6.5 x 6 inches. This is equal to 1.85 gallons. I was expecting a tank that could hold around 3 gallons because I foolishly used the dimensions listed here. I noticed that my tank could hold less than 2 gallons when I was doing a water change and noticed I had only siphoned out 1 gallon of water and the water level was under the halfway point in the tank. Other than that this is a pretty good tank if used temporarily for a sick fish, like I am doing.

I have been through quite a few heaters in my time, maybe a dozen. I have had expensive and cheap heaters.

I have been using this for a month now and it's great and keeps consistent temps. The digital readout is accurate as compared to my old fashioned in tank glass thermometer.

The thermostat takes a minute or two to learn probably have to use the manual to at least double check if you are using the one button properly like I had to (I hate having to read manuals). So setting it up is a little clunky initially, but overall not too bad.

The heather itself was slim for a 300 watt heater, and aluminum was the only choice for me as I have a 8" Red Severum that could break a glass one. It comes with a suction cup, but my tank has issues with suction cups. I was happy to see that with a little wedging, the heater set nicely on the bottom of the tank where I need it, with no suction cups.

The wiring is a bit clunky as there is one wire for the thermometer and one for the heater. The thermometer probe must be away from the heater for an accurate temp and so the thermostat can adjust properly. It's a necessary evil for these type of heaters with the external thermostat.

These are hard to find for a good price. I was not familiar with this brand, and with little feedback as to quality I was hesitant. This heater is running strong and accurate, all I need is for it to last and I am a happy camper.

4 stars because the wiring and thermostat setup/adjustment could be a bit easier.

Would I buy it again? You bet, but ask me in a year as well.

This heating unit worked great for the first few months. In fact it worked so well that I didn't bother to hook up my Apex Jr controller immediately upon switching to it because it kept the temperature so consistent. Then one day we had a 5 hour power outage. After power came back, I waited a half hour and then reset the GFCI to make sure I didn't have to worry about any surges; the thermometer acted just fine as it warmed my tank back up. Upon arriving home a week later from a work trip, I found many of my corals starting to bleach. I figured it was the stress from the previous power outage, but as I went through the motions of testing my tank, I decided to plug my Apex Jr back in and tested the water temp again. Turns out the water temperature was a full 10 degrees over what the heater was showing. I then tested the water temperature with 4 other methods and they all reported the same thing, my tank temp was 88 degrees!

Upon reading further, I found out I wasn't the only person to experience this issue. I found a few others that reported having the exact same problem. Stay away from this thing if you aren't looking to boil your fish!

Tetra Usa ATS77878 Whisper Repair Kit for 60 and 100 Air Pump

The repair parts were exactly what I needed. Quick shipment helped me get my air pump working in no time.

Eventually, if you take care of your aquariums & fish, you'll have to either rebuild or replace the all important air pumps. Replacing them can get expensive when dealing with the higher capacity pumps used on the 50 to 100 gallon tanks. Fortunately, if you chose to use the Tetra dome style air pumps, there are these excellent kits Tetra sells for rebuilding their pumps.

The rebuilding process is not complicated. If you can tell which end of a small phillips/cross point screwdriver fits your hand then you can probably handle this task easily in a few minutes. After un-plugging the power and disconnecting the air hoses, simply unscrew the four case screws recessed into the base of the pump. Gently separate the top from the base. Pull out the old parts. They're pressed into place and will slide out with gentle tugging. Pay attention to the relative arrangement of the openings on the back plates of the old assemblies: the new assemblies will need to be oriented tha same way. Carefully slide in the new assemblies while being careful with the O-rings to ensure they seat in their grooves correctly.

The kits come with a new air filter pad, and I highly recommend replacing the old one at this time. Simply pull out the old one installed in the bottom of the pump housing and press in the new one that came in the kit.

Reassemble the top & bottom housing halves, attach the air hoses and plug the power back in. You now should have essentially a new pump thanks to these high quality little kits, and you will have realized a considerable savings compared to replacing the pumps with new units.

Bought a Tetra Whisper air pump 100 and with in 6 months the diaphragms tore and needed to be replaced. No pet shop carried the replacement parts for it so I had to buy a second one. Well long behold the second pumps diaphragms tore also. Not only is finding the diaphragms in a store around your home impossible but you can't just buy the rubber diaphragm. So instead of the part costing $3 $4 it will now cost at least $10 $13 because you have to buy the whole arm that goes with it! I will never buy another Whisper air pump again!

I bought this top for my 5g nano. It seems great, but i chipped the glass putting the plastic back piece on. This wasn't a big deal to me as the plastic hinge covered the part of glass that I had chipped though this does make me nervous about the ease of breaking it. I am very careful every time I open it/shut it/do anything around it and it has been fine so far.

It also doesn't fit my aquarium correctly. It is too short to sit on top, and too large to securely rest on the inside of the top braces (about 1/16 of an inch too wide). Disappointing.

If you like the nice sleek clean look of the glass canopy, use a spare suction cup from a heater or something to open it rather than attaching the included handle. IMO It looks much better without the handle attached.

I rate this a 3 overall because I am disappointed with the quality. If the lid had fit my tank I would have been close to a 5.

The ‘handle' was missing from my aquarium top, but as far as I am concerned it is a minor flaw and the lid is working well without it. There are no sharp edges, and the hinge feature is strong and well made. This glass lid rests perfectly on the inside lip of my 5-1/2 gallon aquarium. Instead of cutting the plastic insert to fit my filter, heater, etc., I have simply left it off altogether. That allows a small gap at the front as well as a larger gap at the back which is actually nice because it inhibits steamy glass, and makes raising and lowering the lid without a handle easy. I hadn't thought about it keeping the water warmer overnight when the house cools down, but that the heater doesn't have to work so hard to keep the water temperature steady has been an added bonus. I bought this lid intending to put it on the aquarium only when I am travelling so that the automatic feeder can rest on it. In fact it works perfectly for this purpose. When I fold the back of the lid over the front, the feeder can sit in just the right position to drop food into the feeding ring. However, the lid works so well that I leave it on my fish tank all the time. This was a great purchase!

R2 48 Inch Signature Series Aquarium Moonlight

The first time I ordered this light was from "That Fish Place". Great online store with very good prices, but the light was DOA. The power supply was hot, figured a defective PS, so I returned it. No problem with these folks either, send shipping label, just like Amazon. But they have to check it out, then send you another or refund you, about 2 weeks. So I ordered it here, I have Prime, got it yesterday, 2 days. This time I checked it before running the wires and setting it up. I have a timer, when the day light go out the moonlights go on, simply beautiful. Yes the wire plugs in the side of it, but I don't have a canopy either, sits behind my day lights, can't even see it. On thing, you don't get any instructions, owner's manual, warranty info, nothing, just a bag with some adhesives and screws, does have an on/off controller. But none the less, a great light, wonderful affect. I'm 60 yrs old and have had aquariums most of my life and pretty much know my stuff. So if you want to really enjoy your aquarium after the day lights go out, check these lights out.

Purchased 2 units total. Second was ordered after first one burnt out. Good when they work, although you can see each individual beam going into water which is kinda expected so be warned (it disperses light well enough once past the the first 6-8 inches of water depth). i also have it mounted directly above water on glass shelf so that may be the issue.

First unit only lasted a little over a year and several LED's had burned out in a few sections. Purchased replacement and second unit lasted 13 months and experienced exact same thing (a few sections completely burned out and others are flickering. 2 stars for being acceptable for a year. Quality/Durability is poor/unacceptable so be warned that it will be nice for about a year. Looking for other inexpensive alternatives.

I agree with the other reviewer that it was a really stupid idea putting the power cord coming out the end of the light fixture. In order to fit under a canopy the wiring has to be jerry-rigged (aka a small hole in the side of the canopy to run the plug through. Very stupid design!

The light effect itself is very nice moonlight look, more purplish than moonlight but nice and subdued so as to not upset the fish. I love having it on for a couple hours in the evening!

I liked the idea of adding this light to our existing lighting setup so we could have moonlights without having to purchase an entirely new fixture. Unfortunately, what is not shown in pictures or listed in the measurements is that they put the plug in for the power cord on the very end sticking directly out of the end so the total length is more than 48"! We have a canopy on our tank so we need an light fixture that is actually 48"! I have purchased 48" lighting for our other 3 aquariums and have never had any problems with ordering a 48" light that fits under a canopy! I am really not sure why they couldn't/wouldn't have placed the plug on the back of the light where it would actually make this a 48" light and you wouldn't have an ugly plug sticking directly out the end! I can't comment on how well this would have lit up our tank at night but I will avoid trying another one and just suck it up and purchase an all in one fixture!

Don't buy this expecting to light the whole tank. I have a 75gal and it lights about 1/3 of the tank. There is no way to adjust the direction of the lights like there was on the $50 one i bought from PetCo; and on top of that it would NOT fit inside my hood without major modification: I had to remove the ends and attach the lights directly to the reflector and then re-run the power source to the side. If you are not comfortable with modifying a $60 light, then stay away. Otherwise, all that being said, this is a good 4' light for so cheap.

I love this aquarium. I am a fish lover and have various tanks in my house. I saw this and thought this is definitely something differnt, not only in looks but in function. The set up was easy, just hang it on your wall and add water and fish. There is a control panel on the side that maintains all the components, filtration, airflow, etc. We have it in out foyer so people see it right when they come in. We've gotten so many positive comments and even our friends have purchased a couple!!

I ordered the tank with the silver frame to match our stainless equipment in our kitchen and it looks great! I actually received the aquarium the next day! Set up was a little bit of a challenge as the depth is only 3 3/8" inches on the inside on the tank and I put a couple of plants and a piece of driftwood ( found me a few pieces of African driftwood with a depth of less than 3 3/8", terrific selection and excellent prices too). I originally put substrate (for shrimp) over a mesh covering the semi open bottom and the aquarium was overtaxed and became violently ill. I remedied the problem by slowly taking everything out and replacing the substrate with gravel and it works great now. The tank is very well designed and thought out and it comes with a net, cleaner pad on a pole, gravel (white), a mechanically manipulated mini grabber and everything you need except fish. Well written instruction manual with company phone number and a problem section which got me through the subsrtate problem. It's only been up for two days so I'll write an addendum if there are any problems. Jody Koval

I bought this top because I love pink personally. It really adds a feminine touch to your biOrb, which I love. My only complaint is that it does not stay attached to the biorb itself. It is not a big issue as you do not move the biOrb around much, but I wish the company would have made it so it would stay attached to the biOrb rather than sit on it/around it if you know what I mean. Nonetheless, I would have gotten it either way just for the touch of pink.

Marina Style Aquarium Kit

I bought this as an upgrade for my betta fish. I've had a 1.5 gallon for a while, but wanted something a bit bigger.

Pro:

-This unit has a nice foot print. It doesn't take up a ridiculous amount of counterspace.

-The filter is very impressive compared to other tanks I've seen. The flow is adjustable, from very gentle to rather aggressive.

-The filter is also rather quiet. Unlike my other tank, this one doesn't need an overly aggressive airrated to vibrate and make all kinds of noise.

-The lid and glass both seem to be of high quality. The opening section of the lid is sturdy and there are no scratches or bubbles in the glass.

Con:

-I'm not a huge fan of the light. This one comes with incandescent lighting, but I prefer my last tank's LED.

-The filter is a universal model. It has the ability to attach to far larger tanks, so it sits on there kind of awkwardly. I used a small piece of cardboard folded over (the box the bulb came in) on the outside of the tank to make it a little bit more stable. I don't see it at all and it works better than the space included.

Overall this is a great tank for a small room, like a dorm or kids room. If you have the space I would recommend something bigger, but for the right task this is a perfect kit.

My girlfriend and I are both new to taking car of fish (we have a single small gold fish). This tank was a decent price and seems to be working just fine. It has no leaks, and is perfect for us since it comes with instructions on how to take care of the fish. The filters are really easy to change and the fish has a lot of space to swim around in. The primary thing I was worried about was the filter's suction, but it seems to be very gentle so the fish does not get caught in it.

Update: It has been a over a year and still no issues with leaks, or the pump. The only very minor annoyance is that sometimes the lid to the filter changer vibrates. But it is easy to solve. Other than that no complaints about this tank. It is also very nice that the replacement filters are relatively cheap on amazon.

Mine has now been set up for about three months. It's been a great way to get into the hobbyeverything that it comes with is good quality and works great. My fish like the food, the LCD thermometer is great, and the tank looks pretty decent. I have one betta, four cardinal tetra, two nerite snails, and about 10 live plants in mine and the filter keeps up just fine (I just do water changes once a month). Depending on the fish you choose, you may need a thermometer, but they are available cheap. Ask your fish store when you buy your fish.

The only weak point is the light. Incandescent bulbs are obsolete, produce a bad color light, and run hot and waste electricity.

**Here's my tip: buy a low wattage compact fluorescent bulb--available from Amazon, big box stores, home improvement stores, even grocery stores--and pop it in. Look for 10 or 13 watts, and make sure the color temperature is "daylight" (6700K)and not "soft white" (2700K or similar). It makes a world of difference. I like the wrap around feature of the glass which will create a better visual effect. I thought the filter was a little small and have purchased a different filter that hangs on the side. The included filter should be ok for most people though. Our first shipped tank had a scratch in the glass but Penn Plax replaced the entire kit. So I would not be hesitant to recommend their products to anyone.

I bought this tank for the seamless front as it's very modern in appearance. I love the glass tank itself and the internal filter seems quiet and capable but there are a few things I'd like to point out. The led light included is far too weak for anything other than simulated moonlight so you'll need to upgrade to a clip-on that will fit a rimless tank. I had an extra Fluval mini power 13W compact which works much better. The final thing I should mention is the lid is only a thin piece of plastic attached to hinges.

Pros: Aesthetic appearance, powerful internal filter with optional aeration, and a protective mat.

Cons: Weak lighting and flimsy hood. Basically you're paying for a pretty tank and internal filter, unless you're raising nocturnal species.
