API Aquarium Salt

Hi, this salt is very useful for good gill function and helps enhance treatments when using medications to battle parasites and diseases in your aquarium. It helps your fish relax and breath normally when dosing your tank with strong medicines that could cause stress. Should only be used when needed, but a bit of salt after your waterchanges wouldn't hurt at all. Make sure to dissolve in hot water before adding to aquarium.

This salt is actually about the same if not, cheaper than most kitchen sea salt, rock salt etc. Also, some [Non-Iodized] Kitchen salts contain different caking agents other than iodine to prevent salt from clumping up. This aquarium salt is PURE sea salt with no additives so this is your safest route.

Salt is the safest natural way to treat first signs of white spot disease also known as ich. In other words this will only be effective in the early stages and minor infections, if your fish is covered in ich then I suggest using medications with the combination of salt for maximum effectiveness.

Add 1 Tablespoon of salt per 10 gallons, if your fish show no signs of stress feel free to add another 1 Tablespoon of salt per 10 gallons. Then you want to get the heat up to about 85-88 degrees. In order to do this, you have to raise the temperature slowly about 1-2 degrees every hour. Monitor your fish, if they are breathing rapidly the temperature is too high. When you notice some spots disappearing it is important to do atleast a 25% water change to get rid of the parasites in its free swimming stage. Continue treating for another week AFTER you see no spots to ensure you get rid of all the ich.

Warning: Please do research on your fish before using salt. Generally salt is not harmful but if your fish are scaleless or sensitive to salt it can cause death from shock if introduced to your aquarium in large amounts at once.

Adding this product to your aquarium helps to keep your fish healthy and even lowers stress levels. Many freshwater tropical fish still like a slight saltiness to the water. As long as you follow the dosing direction on the box, you should have absolutely no problem with this product.

Things to Remember...

Only add additional salt after you have completed a water change and only add enough salt to dose the amount of water you replaced. Also, do not just top the water level off in your tank if water evaporates. This will just make the salt concentration higher.

I followed the dosing instructions on the label exactly, and a week or so after starting to use it, one of my betta got sick and died. I managed to save my second betta by removing him from the salt water.

I added the required dose for freshwater fish to 2 gallons of water, then added the required water conditioner, and used that water for my water changes. I never put the salt directly into the aquarium, so I always knew it was the right concentration. I made sure the salt was fully dissolved (the chunks are very big).

I don't know what I did wrong, but fortunately I was able to save my second betta after I stopped using this product. I now use the product as a foot soak, so it's not totally wasted. :)

I'll start with a small anecdote. A couple of months ago, my wife decided to lend me a hand a do a water change (bless her heart), but unfortunately, she's not very experienced. I lost 7 fish in the incident and my Colombian Silver Tip developed cloudy eye.

Water parameters were intact, but the fish suffered a great deal of stress, the water was too cold. Anyway, instead of buying and/or applying medicine, I went ahead and added a few spoons of this salt; within 24 hrs, the cloudy eye was gone and the remaining fish started to breathe at a normal pace.

This salt is not only for brackish water, but also for fresh water (but in small amounts). For brackish, as the name implies, it is a must. The salt will encourage a healthy inmune system and will keep the fish happy. It is a perfect additive to prevent and as I said above, cure some illnesses.

I suggest you add this product every time you do a water change or when you add new fish to your aquarium, in small amounts for the latter.

In my 13 years of keeping aquariums, I've always had this product handy. Good luck.

Marina Decorative Gravel - 1 lbs

As far as the gravel goes, it is a nice product (good quality, color, etc). However, I've never weighed a pound of gravel before, so wasn't sure how much I was getting. I only have a small 6 gallon aquarium, so I knew I wouldn't need much, but boy was I in for a surprise. 1 lb of this is about 1.5 fists full for me.... just in case any shoppers out there aren't sure what to expect. I got 3 bags of this... which was no-where near enough. On top of that, the price (which seemed great at the time) is way over what is reasonable for the product. I wound up going to my local PetSmart to get more gravel and found the same brand in a 5 lb bag for only $1 more than I paid here for a single bag. Needless to say not a great experience. Some of you readers may think that it is my fault for not knowing how much 1 pound of gravel is. Well... sure. I wasn't prepared in that regard. However, the price is way out of line with the going price for gravel. I'm not sure why its so expensive here, when pet stores tend to be far more costly than what I find on Amazon. However, look at your local stores first before clicking "place order".

Gravel is gravel! Great for my betta bowl; def a bit on the smaller side (there isn't a lot in the bag), but it's only a pound. You could err on the side of getting two if having a good amount of substrate is important to you. Since this was just for my haunted fishbowl (so just seasonal; will just have it in my bowl for a month), I'm happy with it since I'll be putting my betta's old substrate back in after the holidays. If this was my permanent substrate though, I'd def err on the side of getting 2-3 bags for a 1-2 gallon bowl. : D

I bought the large bed for our 48lb Basset Hound. It's a good fit for her, but I think next time I'll go with the extra large bed since she likes to stretch out once in a while. We had to help her get in it a couple of times, but now she's figured it out. Our Basset is a spoiled girl with four beds to chose from around the house, but now she only uses this bed. Don't let the size-name description fool you; a LARGE bed of this type will not fit a LARGE dog. I ordered a "large" bed, and my 2 dogs are each just a little over 60 pounds (medium-large) but neither one of them could fit into the "cave" part of the bed. It's expensive to return, and so unfortunately I will not be trying the extra-large size for fear that it will also incur the extra cost of returning. Just pay very close attention to the measurements of the bed; you may want to get the next size up from what the description may make you believe. ( For example, I doubt that it's possible for a really large 80-100 pound dog, such as a big male Lab, Rotty or similar, to be comfortably accommodated by even the X-Large size Cozy Cave, unless your dog enjoys a very tight fit.)

OTHERWISE, I will say that the bed is of very high quality. If your dog can fit, it really is an extremely nice bed; very plump and cozy, indeed.

Easily the best design for a UV sterilizer, my only complaint is that according to their manual if you want to kill parasites or even algae you need to buy based on the flow rate of your pump not tank size. I have a 180 Gph Fluval G3 and at that rate I'd need a 12x to kill parasites and a 6x if I was only interested in killing algae. The 3x which I have needs a flow rate of 120 Gph to kill algae for example. Some very important information I found no where other than the manual which wasn't available prior to purchase. If your going to buy one, I wouldn't buy less than a 6x. Took a star off for not making this information more readily available.

I just set this up. The hardest part was finding an external pump to power it. I put this on a 28 gallon nanocube and it was so hard finding a pump. I ended up getting 900 Marineland 265gph external/internal pump and it works great. The plastic clips that supposed to latch on was cumbersome and I was not able to use them. I just did the hang off the back, actually hang off the side deal. If you buy tubing with the 900 Marineland, you will need exactly 3 feet of 1" tubing and about 3 feet of 5/8 tubing.

This is the best purchase I've ever made for my 500 liters fresh water tank.

After just two days the water is crystal clear as if it had just been changed.

The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that it does not come with a pump thus it must be installed in line with a sump or canister filter.

In my case, I installed it on my Fluval Canister outlet as I was afraid the flow rate of my sump would be too high.

It would be nice if it had an integrated pump with the ideal flow rate for it but it is still an excellent buy and does exactly what it says it does: gets your water really really clear!

This thing is amazing and very easy to install. I found the instructions to be ok but once you look at it you should know what needs to be done. This thing zaps everything that goes through it and I haven't had and algae bloom since I've had it on and I have hundreds of plants with grow lamps, so it's pretty impressive!!!!

One thing before purchase, just make sure what size you are getting matches your flow rate of filter...just because it says it can handle the size of tank ayou have doesn't mean it matches your flow rate and that's the most important part.

Two Little Fishies ATL44022 Aquastik, 2-Ounce, Red

This particular product is not truly epoxy in that it WILL create a fit between two rocks (etc), but does NOT adhere them. It's consistency and adhesiveness is comparable to dried bubble gum, so keep that in mind. It is useful if used in conjunction with superglue, but at that point it kind of defeats the purpose in my opinion. I would not recommend it.

This is some good stuff. My recommendation is that you knead it longer than I did the first couple times. It comes with a green stick of puddy and a purple. The longer you knead it the quicker it sets up and the color is a deeper purple more resembling coraline algae and not a clump of puddy in your tank. Resealable container so you can cut off what you need and not worry it will dry out. Does break down a little meaning it fogs the salt water slightly but the protein skimmer takes care of all that pretty quickly.

AquaStik Epoxy is really good at some applications, and really not great at others. Firstly, it's fantastic at affixing your live rock in a reef tank or FOWLR. It's not so great at affixing a plug for a frag into the live rock unless you have holes that it can squish into. If you're trying to get a piece of coral on a plug stuck into a more difficult area, you're going to end up frustrated with this epoxy. It has a very weak hold and even when applied if you have larger fish (or in my case an eel) they will eventually knock the entire piece of coral free.

Another drawback is the smell and the fact you have to hand mix the putty together, if you have sensitive skin it will burn your fingers and be very uncomfortable. If you don't, you'll still notice the heat. It's very easy to over mix the epoxy in which case you've rendered it useless. The stench is incredible (as should be expected) so the entire application can become unpleasant. I tend to think that aquascaping should be an enjoyable thing, even if you're peppering in profanity because a rock is shifting or your coral doesn't look "just right". You don't need to muck it up with further with stinging fingers and an acrid smell.

A plus is that it does really mimic the appearance of purple/red coralline algae so it will blend in if your live rock is sufficiently covered. Another is that because of its impermanent nature in an active reef tank you are just using it long enough for coral to grow into/onto the rock. If you're looking for a better solution with more varied uses than a putty I'd suggest CorAffix Cyanoacrylate Adhesive or CorAffix Cyanoacrylate Adhesive Gel 0.7 oz..

I ordered this to repair a pump (Hydor Korlia 3) because it broke from its magnetic base. I put it on and it looks great in my tank. But there are some problems i have had with it. For one it smells HORIBLE when you are using it. If you ever used mighty putty then you know what i am talking about. Also when applying it and it is very loose. Despite regularly running low on water, I have yet to ever have a problem. I had to reroute about half the water from the output back into the bucket because even on its lowest setting it was still way to powerful. The adjustment works pretty well, though doesn't go so low. I am pumping water from floor level to a foot above table level about 10 feet away. With half the water rerouted and in every other way trying to limit the water flow, I still cycle my system about every 7 minutes (about 10 gallons). This is less than half its capability as previously stated.

I bought this to up the flow to my sump. It has an automatic thermostat that turns off when it gets too hot, then back on when it cools down. In 80 degree water that's very 10 minutes. So, it either has a bad self cooling design or the thermostat is super sensitive. I don't need a filter that turns itself off every 10 mins for 5 mins at a time. I'm 50/50 on whether to return it or use the feature as a wave maker in the tank. I prefer a high current in my freshwater 125, so this would put a nice kick up every 10 minutes then relax.

I love the sponge block, it really allows flexibility.The kit worked well. I have a 39 gal.tank .I noticed at the end the finer papers wore out.

It takes a lot of elbow grease and definitely time consuming. Even so, you might still see the scratch but barely noticeable if done right. Overall, this is a 3/5 product as it will only work if you are willing to work it meticulously.

Flows well with the current from my in tank filter. Looks very life like! The only thing that wasn't great was I had to trim a little blob of silicone that was left from the assembly line.

I ordered this for my office fish tank. My only complaint is that there wasn't much information about it. It doesn't come with a pump so you do have to buy that separately. In my office we have a small 5 gallon tank containing a gold fish and a betta. I bought the smallest pump I could find and once I put everything in my tank and turned it on the force of the bubbles created a virtual earthquake. I guess my complaint is the air hole, maybe it could be smaller so the bubbles weren't so intense. The bubbles in the picture are nothing compared to the bubbles that actually come out. After that we decided to prop the door open and just leave it in the tank as decor. Two days after we did that our fish ended up with an injury from bumping into the very sharp edge on the inside of the door. We ended up taking it out completely and don't use it at all anymore. But it does work well and do what it's supposed to I just wish I had known it wouldn't work for my small tank and Black moor (they don't see well).

I may install this later. The problem is the tiny hose that gets kinked easily in the gravel. Perhaps this was meant to be installed in fine substrate!!!
