Zoo Med Laboratories AZMBL20 Betta Hammock
The reason of these methods is due to the function of the suction cup. The suction cup is designed for using the atmospheric pressure to push the cup towards the glass tightly, since the atmospheric pressure will be greater than the air in the cup, so a small bubble is required in the middle. If you set this item in the water without any air in the middle, the section cup will lose its function because when you press it in the water, the internal water pressure will almost equals to external water pressure, due to the properties of liquid, which is harder to be depressurised.
I hope this will explain the reason some people thought this item wont work. Moreover, Betta fish does also rest on it :)I bought this item almost as a joke, because seriously... a giant plastic leaf? My betta ignored it for three days and then flung himself on it. As I type, he's laying sprawled across it looking as deliriously happy as it's possible for a fish to look. Highly recommend.
Oh, and in reference to all the negative reviews stating that the leaf pops off -there must have been a redesign. My leaf stays put, and the suction cup seems to be working just fine as well (fingers crossed).
Buy Zoo Med Laboratories AZMBL20 Betta Hammock Now
so, i see many reviews of people saying that the leaf doesn't stay in the suction cup. my belief is that you're just not pushing it hard enough into the suction cup. it's not as easy as most people say it is or should be, i had to push it in very hard, but once you get the stem of the leaf into the hole of the suction cup, it appears to be just stuck in there. i doubt you would be able to take it out. i have it my 2.5 gallon tank for my betta, he loves it. he chills on it during the day when he's bored, and sleeps on it at night.the only thing i do not like it about it, is that there is a metal wire in the leaf, and if you bend it (or maybe even if you don't) the wire sticks out. it will eventually rust, plus it could cut your fish, so i bought some aquarium sealant (non-toxic to fish, $6 at petsmart) and covered the wire with it. i waited about 3 days for it to dry, and i put it back in. so, now it's safe, and my betta loves it. (: i've also heard you can take the wire out, and it's fine like that too.
i bought this leaf at petsmart about 2 months ago, and only for about $2.30, so it's cheaper. i think it's worth it, if you have the time to fiddle with it, and if you assemble it right. i say give it a try. (:
ALSO, if you put it in your tank and your betta doesn't seem interested, try feeding them over it over the course of a few days. it helps them realize to use it, but if s/he still doesn't use it, then s/he's just not interested. it does depend on your betta's personality, but at less than $3 at petsmart, i say it's not that much of a waste if your betta doesn't use it.

When I first put the leaf in my tank my Betta puffed his gills like he saw and intruder. After a few minutes he began to explore around it. It didn't take him very long at all to figure out what it's purpose was. The day after I bought it I looked at his tank and he liked it so much that he started to form his very first bubble nest right underneath it. I highly recommend the Betta Leaf Hammock. Other reviews say that the leaf fell out of the suction cup but I think they redesigned it because there isn't any way that the leaf can fall out of the one I received. Not only does my fish love it but I also got it 5 days before the expected delivery date.I was shopping at petsmart, and saw this leaf; I thought my Betta, El Jefe would like it. after two days of investigation, he decided to try it out, and now loves it! whenever I enter my room, 80% of the time El Jefe is watching the rest of the world from his little hammock. I havn't had any issues with the suction cup, or leaf falling off, so I think that there must have been a re-design somewhere along the way. If El Jefe could talk, he would tell you to buy this leaf, cause he likes it!Wednesday, May 28, 2014
Solar Flare Mini Gooseneck Clip - on Led Light
The Blue leds are pointless 2 .25 watt LEDS -
The White light (3 Watt LED) is bright but it spotlights if too close to my Nano (needs to be about 12-18 inches above the 6 gallon nano). IIf I mount it above the nano it works but since that requires a horizontal surface for the clamp (edge of a shelf) the weight of the heatsink and circuitry (all in the head) defeat the gooseneck and it will not stay horizontal.
I'm going to tear it down and install the lamp into my nano fixture. Otherwise would have returned. Poorly engineered. Looks cool though.
Buy Solar Flare Mini Gooseneck Clip - on Led Light Now
I was looking for a good LED for my 2.5g nano tank... needed something that wouldn't sit ontop of the glass top because it is already hard enough having to remove the strip light then remove the glass just to get inside the tank...It has 3 LED ..one bright white and 2 mini blue for moonlight if you want. You can turn all of them on which I really like.. it makes my tank stand out. Not too bright nor too dim, just perfect!!
This LED light fits rimless and rimmed tank.. which I haven't seen any other product out there has....
It's worth the buy!! Plus it will last many years to come!

Seachem Stability 250ml
Most of these products -want you to use them continuously which doesn't make sense to me.If you have a fully cycled tank why would keep adding new strains of bacteria to already established water? Well, I think because some manufacturers want you too keep coming back for more and the price of admission isn't cheap.
Cycle at around $22 for 16 ounces encourages you to dose your tank with 5 ml for every ten gallons once a week and 10 ml for every ten gallons during water changes.
Nonsense.
This brings me to "Stability" by Seachem (one of my favorite companies)But being partial to them and their product line doesn't mean I don't question or research as best I can when trying something new. That said, I'm nursing a new 55, a 40 and 125. I had a bottle of Stability which I had bought on a what the heck basis the 55 has fish in it, I seeded the filter but still had serious ammonia spikes.
Seachem claims that the bacteria used in competitive products are inherently unstable. And for the bacteria to survive it must live in the exact temperature, PH and other water parameters in which it was raised and colonized. This makes perfect sense. When you add this bacteria to your aquarium, it survives for a brief while but then crashes and dies.
Stability on the other hand, has bacteria that can survive in almost any kind of water fresh and salt and virtually any type of water conditions.Seachem states the strain took a decade to develop. What sets it further apart from the competition is that it contains nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria which isn't the case for any other product of it's kind.Seachem also states other bacterial supplements form toxic hydrogen sulfide something that can never happen with Stability.
With this said, I've dosed the 55 and 40 according to the directions which are 5 ml per 10 gallons on the first dose and a follow up of 5 ml per 20 gallons for 7 days. What I've noticed and noticed quickly, is that my water is clearly more stabilized. Currently I show no ammonia on the API test or Seachem Ammonia Alert meter it's been five days since the last dose and all of my readings are in the safe zone.
I don't use it for water changes but having experienced the problems of adding fish to a non or partially cycled tank, I have not so fond memories of daily 50% -80% water changes for weeks..ugh.Where Stability shines is in helping you protect your fish and stabilize the water, especially in keeping the primary fish killer ammonia in check. So for specific applications Stability is an excellent product. It's harmless to fish and appears to deliver on it's promise. But as a weekly or even monthly addition to established tank maintenance I wouldn't suggest it.
To their Credit, Seachem says you can use it as an on going additive but unlike other products they don't make it sound like you have to.I had hi hopes for stability and used it as advised. (even longer than suggested 7 days) While I think its a good supplement for your bio media... It doesnt quite save you from new tank syndrome like they advertise. My advise is use when your bio system needs a boost or doing water changes not for starting new tanks so much when you want to add fish right away and expect them to live through the tank cycle. (well maybe if they are hardy....but thats another story / debate)
Buy Seachem Stability 250ml Now
I would give this more stars, but the thing is it worked so well initially that i never needed to use it but once (making it pretty expensive for a small application). Use as jumpstart for new tanks or full water changes (?). The Biofilter is important for clean and efficient water cycles, this keeps levels in check, and my fish seem happy.I was feeling stuck cycling my tank and followed the directions on this product and my tank not only cycled but has remained perfect (no ammonia, nitrites, or nitrates) with weekly 15 -20% water change. I have not had to continue adding this product either. I choose to add it once a month to play it safeNo complaints here. This stuff works very well. Grab some and give it a try. You will not be sorry.Friday, March 7, 2014

These are pretty, and a nice product, but all three I ordered were only 7 inches, rather than the 8 inches per the product description. (Unfortunately this is slightly too short for what I needed.) I'm going to order the 12 inch similar product and will hope that it, too, is shorter than described, or else I'll cut it to the needed height.Read Best Reviews of Marina Pearlscaper Red Ludwigia Plant Here

Deep Blue Sea & Midnight Sea DBBG - 24 in. - Sold by ft.
I ordered 4 feet of this 24" tall background and what I received was 4 separate 30" long pieces crushed up in a box that was about 5 times too large for the item. (background was bent and crushed to put in the box and then bounced around during shipping...)
Amazon really needs to take a better look at vendors like this selling on their site...

We thought this was a great product when we received it and put it on our tank. Now 3 months later...it is peeling off all over and has pockets of air bubbles in spots in the middle of it...how did it get in there?! It will not re-stick for some reason either. I guess we will have to take it off and toss it. What a waste!Read Best Reviews of Deep Blue Sea & Midnight Sea DBBG - 24 in. - Sold by ft. Here
This was a bit taller than my tank, so I made sure to put the darkest blue section starting at the bottom and used a razor to trip the top excess off. I didn't want the background to be too brightly exposed. I used simple double-side tape all along the parameter of the back side of the tank to apply this with no ripples. Make sure to clean the glass well or otherwise dirt/prints will show up once the background is applied.Want Deep Blue Sea & Midnight Sea DBBG - 24 in. - Sold by ft. Discount?
Great product! i had read the reviews and was worried it would come in 4 sections because of the odd ordering process but it didnt. it came in a 4 foot piece rolled up neatly. i read other reviews 1st and saw how to order otherwise i wouldnt have understood. when you order 1 item, it is only 299 for 1 foot. so you just up your 'items' to 4. (for a 55 gal tank for example). Thanks! :)Wednesday, January 29, 2014

Despite regularly running low on water, I have yet to ever have a problem. I had to reroute about half the water from the output back into the bucket because even on its lowest setting it was still way to powerful. The adjustment works pretty well, though doesn't go so low. I am pumping water from floor level to a foot above table level about 10 feet away. With half the water rerouted and in every other way trying to limit the water flow, I still cycle my system about every 7 minutes (about 10 gallons). This is less than half its capability as previously stated.Want Marineland NJ1100 Maxi-Jet Submersible Utility Pump, 21-Watt, 294 GPH Discount?
This pump is great. Just by holding this pump you can tell that it is high quality. Much, much, much better than the pumps at Lowes. It seems to me that the rated pumping capacity is pretty accurate, which is not the case with the pumps at Lowes. This pump moves more water than another pump which is rated for twice as much capacity.Friday, January 24, 2014

Supreme Skilter Power Filter 400
Buy Supreme Skilter Power Filter 400 Now
I would like to start this review saying that I have 20 years under my belt when it comes to aquariums and this is by far an old school filter and sometimes the old style things work better then new things I'm using this filter in a 20 gallon aquarium and it just fits I have in this aquarium a yellow perch a channel catfish and a koi planning to put them in a 55 gallon when they grow to a larger size then after that a 125 gallon tank but back to the filter works very well the protein skimmer is noisey for most people but can be quite with a 1 inch air stone it tells you in the paper that comes with the filter how to do that some filters say they do how ever many gallons and are not true this filter dose do 400 gallons per hour and if not using protein skimmer is very quite from my 20 years of having aquariums and aquarium filters this filter is by far the best power filter I have ever used and dose not make to much current for fish that are small this filter is well worth the price and at 64.99 that is the cheapest I have seen online compered to all other web sites this is the best price buy this filter for freshwater or for saltwater if you know anything about good filtering you will love this filter last but not least this filter is made in the USA not china. When i got it and put it together, it looked awesome.. but when i started running it, it started leakin where the motor is connected to the container. it sucks.. so i had to grab the whole thing and drag it to the sink so i dont mess up the wood floor. i used plumber's tape around where the O-ring is and it quit leakin.. the filter part of it works great.. the skimmer? not so much.. blows so much bubbles but doesnt make any skim...overall, its just a filter. The Skilter is a good power filter for fresh or salt water aquariums. However the skimmer will only work with salt water tanks; Do not expect it to work with freshwater. The airline should be checked weekly to make sure it is connected and the airline filter is not clogged. This is a good second filter for tanks 40gal and up.30 gal and lower a good primary filter.Thursday, November 28, 2013

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE.....The item is not even close to 36". It's only 33" and not to mention, way to small to even fit into the strip light itself. Now I have to deal with returning this and waiting for a refund. I thought maybe I'd save some money but it turns out, I'm wasting not only money but also my time with this. First ever bad experience with purchasing online from any site.Note to the seller: Do us all a favor and edit your original post to say it's only 33" and that it will NOT fit into a 36" strip light.

Seachem Flourish 250ml
Any fishkeeper worth his or her salt understands the importance of healthy plants in a freshwater aquarium setting. And Seachem's plant tabs and liquid fertilizer are invaluable in helping to keep one's plants healthy.
Highly recommended! This works for my aquarium. The plants are growing well. It doesn't alter the water chemistry as far as I can tell and it lasts a long time. It's hard to get 20 words to review this product.

Aqueon 06034 Tropical Flakes, 7.12-Ounce
the best part on this keep my tank water clean for longer time....I try and avoid feeding my fish things that seem strange for them to be eating (like corn and soy) that some foods contain. This one seems healthy and they eat it well. It doesn't seem to make the water dirtier than normal. I just clean the tank every month or two. I was amazed at the size of container for the price I mean on Amazon compared to what I have found in pet stores. Way better value!

I love aqueon food! Unlike the tetra brand aqueon does not use food coloring or preservatives. aqueou also uses whole products instead of fillers and the color of their flakes come from all natural ingredients. This to me is great because my fish love it and I know it is good for them.P.S. I've been using this fish food for my goldfish and betta and I have had them for 2 years come June. GREAT FOOD, DON'T BE FOOLED BY PEOPLE WHO SAY OTHERWISE!Price was good but the water gets extremely dirty fast with these flakes. I should have listened to the other reviews.
