Universal Rocks 48-Inch by 16-Inch Rocky Flexible Aquarium Background

Universal Rocks 48-Inch by 16-Inch Rocky Flexible Aquarium BackgroundI was skeptical at first. But it trimmed easily and cut to fit my 50 gallon aquarium. I really like the natural stone look and feel. Great product.

You will not be satisfied with any other background again unless you build it yourself. The materials are great and it fits well into a standard 45 gallon long. After it is in the tank it develops a nice algae coated patina and looks as if it is in a National Geo special.

API Algaefix Marine, 8-Ounce

API Algaefix Marine, 8-OunceI always let some mornnig sunlight into my tank to help the plants but after a while the tank water turned so green I couldn't see through one side of the tank to the other. After using this product the algae was completly gone, really fast, in a few hours and the tank was crystal clear and my plants and fish are just fine. I used a small amount and haven't had to use any since.

Good product, does as advertised!

Pros

Controls algae! Cleaned up my tank, could see a difference after the first dose, not only hair algae, but nuisance Fern-like algae as well. I did not experience any Red Slime Algae issues that many reviewers experienced.

Cons

Some of my soft corals have had negative effects; my cabbage coral hasn't opened since the first dose over a month ago. My buttery yellow toadstool coral that used to have green tips is now 2 different shades of brown.

I stopped dosing a few weeks back, and hoping the corals recover.

I fault myself for dosing too long, as I've read it's best to dis-continue after a month of dosing.

Like the title states. Does what it advertises, but a few trade offs.

I bought this to try and combat some hair algae I have in my 93 gallon salt water tank. I went through the whole bottle and nothing in the tank changed. Hair algae is still there as ever. Save your money and don't buy this stuff.

This is a very good algae exterminator, i use this for only one week to take away algae of my reef... if you use directly in the algae is more eficient.

Fluval EDGE Digital Aquarium Thermometer - 64 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit

Fluval EDGE Digital Aquarium Thermometer - 64 to 86 degrees FahrenheitI have one of these on all of my aquariums and they all work well. However, beware that they do not under any circumstances give an accurate temperature reading for the tank. I use them as a quick glance guide to make sure that the heaters are working to keep the water temp. in a certain range [since all my heaters are hidden from view behind plants]. Generally, these are off by +/3-5 degrees depending on the temperature differential between the ambient room temp. and that of the aquarium water itself. They seem to be most off when the room is cooler than what the aquarium water temp. should be. So, if you have a very sensitive system which must be maintained at a certain temp. [such as reef aquariums], do yourself the favor and don't rely on this to give you an accurate reading of the water temp. The best tool for this task is an in-aquarium thermometer.

This product definitely works, no doubt about that. I really think they could of done a better job giving you a more accurate temperature. I've noticed it's accurate within 2-4 degrees. The thermometer has such big jumps in the intervals, it goes from 64-68-72-75-79-82-86.

Other than the fact its not extremely accurate it works perfect for what I need. I just use it for a quick glance to ensure my heater is working, which is all I really need. I have a more accurate one I picked up locally that I can look at for more accurate reading.

Buy Fluval EDGE Digital Aquarium Thermometer - 64 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit Now

I agree with other reviewers that the temps this thermometer gives are not anywhere close to accurate, and they range from +/3 degrees from the actual water temperature. In addition, the spread of the temperature gauge is waaaay too much. Don't make the same mistake i did, enlarge the picture and look closely. The gauge goes from 64 degrees to 68 to 72 (etc, etc). What aquariast only wants to know the temp of their tank to within 4 degrees? Couple that with the margain of error of the thermometer and you're looking at a reading that is potentially 7 degrees different then the actual temp of the tank, which is more than enough to kill most fish. This thermometer is total garbage, which is exactly where i'm going to put mine.

It's a good sticker thermometer for it's price, although glass is more accurate. But the guy earlier shouldn't have left a one star which is quite misleading...rating is for the item not for the description. Fluval products are reliable and produces positive results.

Not as good as shown in the picture, the numbers are barely readable so as colors. I don't recommend this one, get ATI Aquarium Thermometer it's much better.

Glofish Plastic Plants Large Starfire Red, AmbuliaShipped quickly, high enough quality, looks great under regular lighting...but unfortunately does not glow under the glofish aquarium's lighting as expected. All of the blue and green plants we purchased showed up, but this one is better used under fluorescent lighting.

Took a while to get to my house. and i figured it would be flimsy like any other plastic plant and it kinda glows. its ok.

Aquarium Pharmaceuticals BettaFix Remedy 1.7 oz

Aquarium Pharmaceuticals BettaFix Remedy 1.7 ozBettafix is a nice little remedy to keep for your bettas. It has dosing instructions for the small bowls commonly sold for betta housing (though I wouldn't recommend them.) It's not as powerful as Melafix, but the up-side to this is that it's harder for the fish to overdose on. I wouldn't recommend relying solely on this medication to treat fish illness, but use it as a supplement if you have a seriously ill fish who needs a little extra medicine.

As a proud owner of multiple betta fish for over a year, I've learned a lot of hard lessons in taking care and owning these fish. One of those hard-learned lessons I'd like to share to betta owners everywhere by writing this review and hoping my experience will save you and your pet pals from unnecessary suffering and money-spending.

I know I did not buy it from Amazon (I could have), but I bought this very same BettaFix Remedy at one of the big-box pet stores (because I was so worried that I thought I needed this remedy immediately). So, please hear me out.

If you're a beginner fish hobbyist or new owner of betta fish (like I was), it's understandable to become alarmed when your pets display tell-tale disease symptoms. PLEASE DON'T WORRY because I've got a solution for ya. Experienced betta fish owners will tell you that there are always significant side effects to your fish when you use pharmaceuticals like BettaFix. I did not know this when I applied BettaFix to two of my bettas who were experiencing fin rotting.

For a week, I was applying the medication HALF of the recommended dosage. I observed that every time I applied BettaFix, my bettas almost immediately became lethargic, sank to the bottom of tanks, and just breathed. They were hungover (for lack of better words) because of the medication side effects. I got suspicious and researched about it online and found out that many mild diseases such as fin rotting can be CURED AS EASY AS CHANGING THE AQUARIUM WATER MORE OFTEN. So, I stopped using BettaFix. Thinking that after a week of using BettaFix with no results but only suffering on my pets, I started changing their aquarium water twice as often, and a week later... Voila! they were completely healed.

Now I'm happy that my bettas are disease-free, but memories of those hard times are reminded every time I watched Lucky (he is one of my bettas who experienced BettaFix). Before BettaFix, he would swim to all corners of his tank and flare at his neighbors like he's ready to fight to death. After BettaFix, Lucky is noticeably less active and aggressive as he once was. Lucky also experienced color change after BettaFix. He used to have a green and black body with cellophane fins. Now he's just green and black. I'm pretty sure that Lucky's pigmentation was somehow changed when he was experiencing BettaFix's side effects.

BettaFix is known as a less strong medication for betta for frayed or torn fins, slimy patches, or fin rotting, comparing to MelaFix for example. So, you have less chances to overdose your pets. But, trying a natural remedy with no side effects is even better.

Don't use an atomic bomb to kill a fly. Try to provide your bettas with cleaner water first and save money. If that doesn't work, then buy one of these medications.

My lovely betta, Pugs, for no reason we can determine, suddenly came down with a severe case of "pop eye." His tank was clean, the water kept fresh. What could we do?

I sought out a "cure" and bought BettaFix with (frankly) little hope that it could help. Three days following the recommended regimen and he is almost completely his old self. The "pop eye" largely gone, and he is again active with a healthy appetite.

This particular malady is not even mentioned in the literature but there it is. Five stars!

I bought this because my betta was very pale and inactive. I used it as directed and within a day he was looking much better and more active. This is the first time I have used something that worked to cure an ailing fish. I continued to used as directed for the time it said and after the week my betta was as good a new. This product is all natural too so that is a plus. I would highly recommend it at the first sign of trouble. Great product!

Helped heal my Betta's fins to the point they were growing back beautiful and straight. The bottle is small, it only has enough in it for two sessions of fin rot. That could be because I have a 2 gallon tank, and most stores seem to expect people to house their Bettas in three cups of water...

Fluval 3/404-3/405 Impeller Cover for Straight Fan Blades

Fluval 3/404-3/405 Impeller Cover for Straight Fan BladesIt's a shame that the Fluval 404 is such an awesome filter.... I keep replacing these stupid impeller covers because the clips keep snapping and don't hold the impeller in place, causing a loss in water pressure and a horrible clicking noise...

But the Fluval is so good that I keep buying these things by the dozen, and swapping them out when they break...

It's definitely a design flaw. I have 3 of these on my 150g tank, and each one has had this part break several times in it's lifespan... Same break, same spot. Every time... The pressure becomes too great on the impeller, the clip weakens, and SNAP! the clip breaks...

It's becoming harder and harder to find these pieces, and i'm terrified that i'm going to end up replacing my 404's when I can no longer find this part... That will be a sad day...

Took me awhile to figure out what was wrong with my tank but when I did this worked great. Fixed my problem.

JW Pet Company Cataction Canvas Crab Toy for Cats

JW Pet Company Cataction Canvas Crab Toy for CatsMy mom got this from a TJ Maxx for my cat for Christmas. She still is in love with it! I haven't been able to find it in a store so I'm really glad Amazon carries it. It is in surprisingly good shape considering how much she loves it. It even still has the tassels after 6 months and the canvas crab just got a small hole in it the other day. Pretty sturdy toy!

Purchased this toy for my mom's cat. He has lots of new toys, but he will not play with any of the others when this one is out. The Feathers and crinkly strings make him crazy. Non stop action for a good 20 minutes!

Supreme Skilter Power Filter 400

Supreme Skilter Power Filter 400I installed this skimmer/filter 2 weeks ago & am happy with it. Space is limited for my 44 gal. corner tank so I need to combine functions whenever possible. The skimmer portion IS noisy, hence only 4 stars, but after installing an air stone in the skimmer instead of using the Venturi port, that's no longer a problem.

this product in combination with a "little modification that i perform" is the EXCELLENT ALGEA SCRUBER FOR MY 30 GALLON REFF TANK. THANKS YOU GUY TO MAKE MY REEFING LIVE MORE EASSY:)

I would like to start this review saying that I have 20 years under my belt when it comes to aquariums and this is by far an old school filter and sometimes the old style things work better then new things I'm using this filter in a 20 gallon aquarium and it just fits I have in this aquarium a yellow perch a channel catfish and a koi planning to put them in a 55 gallon when they grow to a larger size then after that a 125 gallon tank but back to the filter works very well the protein skimmer is noisey for most people but can be quite with a 1 inch air stone it tells you in the paper that comes with the filter how to do that some filters say they do how ever many gallons and are not true this filter dose do 400 gallons per hour and if not using protein skimmer is very quite from my 20 years of having aquariums and aquarium filters this filter is by far the best power filter I have ever used and dose not make to much current for fish that are small this filter is well worth the price and at 64.99 that is the cheapest I have seen online compered to all other web sites this is the best price buy this filter for freshwater or for saltwater if you know anything about good filtering you will love this filter last but not least this filter is made in the USA not china.

When i got it and put it together, it looked awesome.. but when i started running it, it started leakin where the motor is connected to the container. it sucks.. so i had to grab the whole thing and drag it to the sink so i dont mess up the wood floor. i used plumber's tape around where the O-ring is and it quit leakin.. the filter part of it works great.. the skimmer? not so much.. blows so much bubbles but doesnt make any skim...overall, its just a filter.

The Skilter is a good power filter for fresh or salt water aquariums. However the skimmer will only work with salt water tanks; Do not expect it to work with freshwater. The airline should be checked weekly to make sure it is connected and the airline filter is not clogged. This is a good second filter for tanks 40gal and up.30 gal and lower a good primary filter.

JBJ 3 Gallon Picotope Curved Glass Aquarium

JBJ 3 Gallon Picotope Curved Glass AquariumI had my eye on this little aquarium for a while, and am happy I got it. The filter provided is very flimsy, but it is quiet and provides a very gentle flow, which is great if you're keeping fish who dislike a strong current, particularly in such a small space. The media inside the filter is quality, and there is a modest amount of flow adjustment allowed on the intake valve. The size of the tank is perfect for fry or other tiny fish or invertebrates. On first blush it seems like a great tank for a betta, but this is an open-top tank and bettas are known jumpers.

The real value in this set, though, is not the filter or the light (which is perfectly adequate), but the aquarium itself -The glass is very solid, heavy, and exceptionally clear. The bottom is beveled for beauty and stability. The buying price is worth it just for the tank itself. Pershnickity aquarists will find it worth the time and money changing out the filter and/or light for something better, because the aquarium itself is true quality.

I'm into nano-reef aquariums. This is a great tank to get started! It's a popular tank for the hobby and there is lots of info is out there specifically for it. Looks nice and clean on a desk. Though, as with any tank, you will need to add a few parts. I added a modified AquaClear70, a MiniJet404 powerhead, and a Current Satellite 18W light, and a Hydor 25W heater. I strongly recommend this aquarium for anyone wanting to cultivate beautiful corals, but not interested in fish. You can really only do one small SW fish with this tank (I'm not planning to). Though there is plenty of room for a few other invertebrates.

Buy JBJ 3 Gallon Picotope Curved Glass Aquarium Now

First off, I have to agree with the previous poster. The end of the filter nozzle can slip off easily and can literally siphon small fish into the filter. I would recommend possibly using a rubber band or some way to make them stay attached more sturdily, or possibly some aquarium safe silicone.

With that being said I also had a problem with one of the filters. I purchased four of these tanks for my bettas and one of the filters has a slow leak in the back. It is so slow I didn't realize it until the next day after having set these tanks up. It has caused water damage to my furniture. I specifically purchased a new book shelf to house these tanks and the shelf hasn't even been in my home for 72 hours and it now has water damage. I can accept this since it is toward the back up against the wall but here's the thing.....

I called JBJ Lighting and left a message which they did NOT return. I called them again and they wanted me to jump through all these hoops in order to show proof of my purchase. I spent over $160 on their products. I feel they should help me out a bit without me having to do so much work.

In any event, I called Doctors Foster and Smith (the vendor from which I purchased my tanks) and they are doing the work for me and have assured me they will take care of the filter replacement. I'm relieved and grateful and I highly recommend Doctors Foster and Smith. I have done business with them in the past and they have always taken good care of me.

I'm only giving the company JBJ Lighting 2 stars (because of how they handled me)but the tank itself with no problems would be worthy of at least 4 stars. My bettas seem quite happy in their new homes. The other disadvantage is they only have a 6 month warranty on these tanks. That's really a brief amount of time. Other companies offer at least a year's worth. In the future I will be hesitant to purchase items from JBJ Transworld Aquatic Ent., Inc. I do not appreciate their lack of putting the customer first.

Sept 21st ***UPDATE***

JBJ finally sent me a replacement filter. They sort of took their time. Now I am having problems with the impellers getting clogged with the charcoal medium that is breaking down. I decided to unplug and rinse everything out and the bag of charcoal is literally crumbling and making a mess everywhere. I've only had them working for roughly 3 weeks.

The one thing I noticed is that the impeller screws in from the bottom and can be disconnected from the body of the filter. This is design is INSANE! It's like having a bathroom sink hanging over the sides of the tank with a drain clog in place to prevent the water from seeping out. In time rubber breaks down and it WILL be a problem eventually. This i why one of my filters leaked from the get go.

These tanks are going back. Companies that pay no attention to quality are souring my desire to be an aquarist. I'd give them one star if I could but I can't change my initial 2 star rating.

Just received this tank today. In all honesty it was a great purchase. To get the tank, light, and a filter for 40(ish). Is a great deal. The glass is almost flawless as well as the seals. I honestly have no cons about the tank itself or anything else.

For those skeptical I was there too.

The tank itself is actually a decent size and everything works just fine.

biUbe Aquarium with LED Light, Black, 9 Gallons

biUbe Aquarium with LED Light, Black, 9 GallonsI first read about this thing in the NY Times and the article was generally glowing. Of course they only interviewed the owner of the company for the story. The thing that sold me in the article was that this was a super sleek design. The picture on the cover of the box certainly makes one think this as well. With just a little more effort this could have been an artful design but the company skimped and it's really just a plain aquarium with some accessories in the box. First as pictured here the fish would die within a few hours. You need a (not included) heater in order to keep the fish in this picture. The heater is a big ugly unit that attaches via suction cups to the back of the aquarium. The round shape only makes things worse it tends to magnify the heater when looking at the thing from the front. They skimped a better design would have been a built-in sleak heater along the bottom of the unit. With the addition of the heater there are now 3 power cables running behind the aquarium. These seem to be artfully Photoshoped out in the picture. 3 power cables does not equal elegant design. In an all in one unit like this why not have a single power cable into the head unit that would have been sleak. The pump on this thing is loud, as we found out there are much quiter pumps than the one that ships in the box. Loud pump does not equal elegant design. Along with the three power cables dangling off the back, an air cable also needs to dangle out there. Again you don't see this in the picture a much better design would have been to build the airpump and air cable into the top peice of this unit.

I ended up returning it. I next went to the most reputable aquarium store in the area and had them build up an aquarium with the same specs as this one. It ended up being quiter, cheaper and in the end sleaker. I think that it is possible to make a more artfully designed aquarium, but the biUbe doesn't come close.

Oh and the NYTimes gets 1 star for their article as well.

I have always liked low maintenance aquariums having had an Eclipse 6 on my desk at work. I like the Biube so much I'm planning on purchasing the Larger 16 gallon Biorb for another room.

The set up was quick and easy (By the way, the light kit or other available accessories plug into the small airpump that came with it as it is also a transformer (only a problem when the airpump eventally dies like they all seem to do in time). Also the airpump is a little loud but really functions well. And the set-up saves a lot of cord clutter.

The only thing I've not been as thrilled with is the plastic-esque stand is not as nice as it appears in pictures and pretty expensive for what it is. In fact its almost too short for my liking and the design of 2 flat boards and a metal tube as the support is well... just plain cheesy. Also it would be nice to have some storage areas in the stand as there is no shelf or compartment or anything to hide the airpump or store extra filters, supplies and fish food. The tank is very cool, but I'm having a carpenter build a nicer looking stand to showcase my fish.

I've only had it set up for a week but I've already gotten tons of compliments on it and my fish are still swimming! My recommendation is buy the tank but skip the stand. The tank is really a conversation piece with it's center column of bubbles!

I am new to this whole fish thing and struggled my first three weeks with high ammonia levels. No fish died but I felt at first I had to really watch it... almost to the point of obsession. The people at the fish store told me I could put 5 or more fish in the 9 gallon tank... that was my first mistake. I only put three large oranda's in and I still think this tank is over crowded. Also, it is hard to find the accessories to the biUbe tank. The stand is too unstable... I ended up putting it on a table. BUT, I feel the filtration system and the sleek, tall design are lovely.

My advice if you want this tank, is to start very slow and take several days to allow the tank to cultivate the beneficial environment. Wait to put in the fish in and DON'T OVER CROWD THIS TANK...

Read Best Reviews of biUbe Aquarium with LED Light, Black, 9 Gallons Here

I have been keeping fish on and off for several years now and I have to say I love this tank. I knew it was 9 gallons but for some reason I was surprised by the size of it when I took it out. The filtration system is really great and I am happy the instructions talk about SLOWLY putting fish into the tank. When I first kept fish I wasnt aware of the nitrate rise when you first introduce them to the tank..so its nice to see they bring this to light. Overall I really enjoy this tank. I do not have the stand for it, mine is just on my table. I have small-ish fish in mine, tetras and danios, so I can fit a good shoal of them with my plants.

The drawbacks are that like others have said, the pump it comes with is noisy, but that is an easy fix. And if you set it up properly, there is a wait time to get all the fish you want..which is always the funnest part! But its less of a drawback because it is the proper way to stock a tank anyway. The filtration change packets are expensive but convienient. But a remedy to the expense is just buying them bulk on ebay.

I definitly reccomend this tank to others. My sister in law has the BiOrbe and she loves that as well.

Want biUbe Aquarium with LED Light, Black, 9 Gallons Discount?

I am a very lazy pet owner and hate maintaining fish tanks which is what made me consider this one. It was advertised as a "low maintenance" tank on another site. I basically just loved the look of the tanks. I purchased 2 of them. They are much bigger then I expected but that is a good thing. It was very easy to set up and so far have not really required any maintenance. I bought my own round tables from a local store versus getting the Biube/orb stands as I read reviews that they are not worth it. My tanks are beautiful and have added a very cool element to my living room. I have huge TV, but the tanks have turned into the focal point when I have company. The only downfall is the picture is a little misleading. It just shows this beautiful tank and side steps the fact that there are cords involved. There are the cords for the tank itself and then for the most part, you will need a heater which is never displayed in pictures and a thermometer. I have had a hard time hiding all the cords, but other then that, I am very please with my tanks.

I purchased for my FX5 works great. I would recommend to get 2 boxes for that filter. I run these on bottom, bio balls in center, and polishing pad on top.

When i first purchased 2 fx5, this was one of the recommended product to buy with along with the bio-max. Let me say that you don't need this item, as its a complete waste of money and space in your fx5. There are way more better media than this. Many people i have search on the the web have opt to have their fx5 loaded with nothing but bio-media.

Fluval EDGE Bamboo Wall with Plant Baskets Aquarium Ornament

Fluval EDGE Bamboo Wall with Plant Baskets Aquarium OrnamentThis product is the perfect addition to the Fluval Edge 6 gallon aquarium. It fits 3 small live plants perfectly and covers the heater and filter. We used the suggestion of many Fluval edge owners and went with a higher grade heater (still fluval) but not the weaker unit meant for the 'edge' aquarium. Our heater is still hidden nicely behind the frosted glass. This product is the perfect center piece and I feel units without it look rather empty. The product comes in 2 colors and its hard to know which one your getting by the pictures, but you can't go wrong with either. I would consider this a must have for the Fluval Edge.

**Update**

Although I originally was very pleased with this product, I wound up fighting to keep my plants planted in the "pots" provided. The plants move every time you clean the water, which winds up uprooting them from the small and shallow containers provided. Additionally, after about 2 months, I noticed that the paint on the product was beginning to chip. I also noticed that I was mysteriously losing algae eaters that had been flourishing previously. I removed the planter, and the fish stopped dying. I would not recommend this product, especially if you like your algae eaters!

I bought this fluval bamboo ornament for my Fluval Edge Aquarium for $45 and I don't regret it

because it is the most elegant aquarium decor I have seen. it looks great with some live Sword plants

in the three spaces and it hides the heater and the water filtration tube. It looks really good but

mine came in a sort of gray color which actually looked better in my opinion and I saw that the

Squidward house ornament (yes from Spongebob) matches it very well.

I will try to get some pictures up soon. hope this helped.

This accent looks nice in the aquarium but I would not recommend it if you have the Fluval Edge aquarium. It is a pain to get in and out of the tank and it makes it hard to clean the tank because it is right below the hole in the top of the Fluval Edge taking up a lot of space. I finally took it out of my tank and the paint was starting to chip off. Not the best construction either. The glass always wiggled and some of my fish got stuck between it and the back wall. I give it one star but I would hardly recommend it. Your better off with natural things like rock.

I have this right now in my tank and I filled one of the boxes with rocks. The rest I left alone and my shrimps love to hide and crawl into the empty spaces, and so does my crayfish. The only thing I don't like about this product is that the glass tends to snag my betta's tail, so it ended up shredded (but it grew back). So people with long tailed fishies, i don't really recommend this product! Other than that, it hides the heater and filter very well and creates a beautiful landscape
