Marina Net Trap, Fine Mesh
Buy Marina Net Trap, Fine Mesh Now
This net does what it is supposed to do, and once it's set into place, it is alright. But setting it up is a little painful. You insert the plastic sides, then pull the net tight and tie the string around the top. To secure it to the side of the tank, you use metal arms and bend them over the side. During this whole process those plastic sides you inserted are falling out of their hole (they do not click into place). But to look on the bright side... it works, it will fold flat when I'm finished with it.Read Best Reviews of Marina Net Trap, Fine Mesh Here
This worked great for a 5 inch fish that was injured by getting stuck in a sunken ship. The product is easy to assemble and clean. Great price too! Shipped on time with no issues.peni would recommend this to other customers, because i assembeled in less than 1 minute (LITERALLY) and it looks pretty good, except i was a little scared of the plastic rods breaking while assembling, but no it didn't so i am pretty glad with my purchase, i bought mine at a local pet store and it costed me about $6 a little more expensive than amazon, but i'd rather pay 50cents than wait 5-8 days for it to be shipped, i haven't used it yet, but i've already assembled it, the only bad thing about this item is that is has 2 metal hooks that you can easily bend to hook over your fish tank, not suction cups , so if you have a closed top fish tank like i do it won't close dow perfectly but oh well, not a big deal at all, a pretty good size no super big, and not super small, just right for my new baby guppy fry!!! have about 50 of them!!! the net also feels really soft, hope it stays that way for a long time!!

Reef One Biorb Heater Pack
the tank is a sphere so they should have found/or made accessories that can fit the concavity of the inner walls of the tank. It comes with a plastic wall adapter that does not work. Directions with the heater are limited and does not explain too much in terms of installing. This heater is a breeze to install. i dont know what size orbs the others were commenting on that were having issues. It is fully submersable so the owner that was afraid to drop it in should read the directions. Maybe the smaller orbs have a tighter sphere making it more difficult to install. I own the 16 gallon biorb and i had no problems. Will try to post a pic so you can check out what it looks like.this heater works fine but will not fit into the BiOrb with the suction cups inclosed. You just have to let it dangle in the tank by the cord and hope it does not go into the water.

Aquatop Zen Nano Glass Aquarium Fish Tank ZN-3G Black 2.6 Gallons
Overall, you cant beat the quality and look of this tank especially when comparing to other brands similar sized tanks.I didn't buy the tank from amazon, but I really like this tank that I feel I should write something here (since no review is available yet).
My betta fish originally lived in an one-gallon plastic hexagon tank TOM Mini Hex 1gal Aquarium Kit with UGF, Air Pump without using the air pump. I change water twice a week, but he was still sick. He had rotted and split fin (got worse everyday), body was pale and eyes were dull. I went to an aquarium store, the owner gave me some Thailand herb for the fish, and told me that the fish needs to have warm water (like 78-80F)... However, even the smallest tank heater requires at least 2 gallon of water. That's why I decided to buy this tank. This tank comes with built-in filtration system, bio-balls, ceramic rings, glass lid and LED lighting. The set up is pretty simple. The only thing is that the water flow is a bit too strong for betta fish. I use a piece of plastic sheet, fold it and slide into where the water comes out to redirect the water flow, my betta is very happy and energetic now. Glass tank looks much better than plastic one. I put some plants too, and the water seems very clean all the time (compare to my old setup). You may consider adding filter foam to remove the dust and debris or also adding a nitrate remover pad to eliminate brown algae.
This heater works very well with this tank: Hydor THEO Submersible Aquarium Heater 25W UL
I also bought this: Marina Floating Thermometer with Suction Cup
BTW, the Thailand herb really works for betta, but I don't see anyone selling it online. If you google "Thailand enhancing herb for Betta plakats fighting fish", you may see what it is..

For the price and free two day shipping, this product is just awesome. I have been using it in a 1/2" sheet in my Fluval 206 for the last little bit of filtration before the rest of the system. By the look of the removed product every few weeks, it is doing its job great. It grabs a whole lot of junk out of the water before it goes to the next filter. Will buy again, but the bag is so big that probably won't be for more than a year. Definite buy if you have your own custom system set up, because it fits where you want it and filters well.Great product and great price! Arrived on-time as promised! Deep Blue Professional ADB12881 Bettastik Sub Heater for Aquarium, Mini, 7.5-watt
Buy Deep Blue Professional ADB12881 Bettastik Sub Heater for Aquarium, Mini, 7.5-watt Now
I love the look and simplicity of these, and now have 4 of them for our several small tanks. We bought 7.5 watt, 15W and 30W versions, and put them in tanks of the appropriate size (1-6 gallons).I've noticed that one tank near our radiator is running 82-83 degrees, so I put a lower wattage one in. Same thing, 82 degrees.
Apparently these are NOT "Pre-programmed" with a set temperature in any way. They're just always on.
This means that the will keep your coffee piping hot if you stick it in a small mug, or keep an aquarium sorta warm, depending on the size of the tank and the temperature of your house.
Since all the Heat Stik and Betta Stik heaters we bought all look identical, with no markings to show which is which, I bought a digital electrical meter today and measured them: 7.5W, 7.5W, 7.5W, 7.5W....
They're ALL THE SAME. So not only is the idea of a preset thermostatic control complete bunk, but they're packaging the same product as different things.I thought this would be great for my tiny desk aquarium, but there is no off switch. So, when left on, the water temp went to 86 degrees. When off, it fell to 68 degrees. So, I purchased a timer. It has "teeth" every 1/2 hour that you can set to go on or off. So, I set the heater to go on and off for an hour at a time every 24 hours. This seemed to do the trick and the water temp is at a constant 80 degrees now. That's all you need to do for this product to perform perfectly!

I bought two of these heaters, for appropriate sized betta tanks. Shortly after adding the heaters, both bettas died. Prior to that they'd both been healthy since I purchased them. I don't believe the tanks got too hot as I repeatedly checked the tank thermometers. It was probably due to user error, but still I wonder. BTW, they are glass so are breakable. I prefer the plastic paddle type heaters now and have had much better luck with them.Tuesday, April 1, 2014
baby biOrb 4-Gallon Moonlight Aquarium with Light Fixture
Pretty low maintenance with 25% water changes weekly and fully changes one a month it almost looks after itself its so easy. You can probably reuse the filters if you clean them and add new media.
I added a heater, skipped the biorb stones for petshop cheaper ones, I decided on real plants, a betta, some red cherry shrimp, adding a top to the bubbler and a valve which means my betta has no problems with the current & his long fins (he is a halfmoon and currently flaring right next to the air vent the cheeky minx!).
One note for anyone buying this. Buy a valve for your pump or you may find the water siphons back into it when you switch it off $2.00 well spent!
Buy baby biOrb 4-Gallon Moonlight Aquarium with Light Fixture Now
Both packaging and website description are misleading. The photos don't show the air tubing and power cord which are unsightly and make it very difficult to place in your home. The external tubing and air pump unit are supposed to be placed higher than the water level! Also, the supplied media is unattractive and is the only media (gravel) they recommend using (it's brown). I definitely expected a better product for the money it cost. I sent my baby biOrb back..and really wouldn't recommend this product.Read Best Reviews of baby biOrb 4-Gallon Moonlight Aquarium with Light Fixture Here
I transferred my betta into this tank after about a year in a much smaller (and cheaper) filtered tank and I am so happy I decided to get it. There isn't much light in my apartment so the moonlight feature stays on all the time, which is fine; but it looks especially beautiful at night. I decided not to buy biorb decorations or rocks just because I already had some and honestly they were a bit pricey for my taste anyways. This tank is also a bit expensive, but it's totally worth it. It not only looks great, but it is very functional. The filter works great and cleaning is easy. I've had the tank for about a month now and I would gladly recommend it to anyone looking to buy. I would definitely buy from Biorb again in the future.Want baby biOrb 4-Gallon Moonlight Aquarium with Light Fixture Discount?
I've been very happy with this tank but the moonlight feature was a waste. Because I keep it pretty far away from windows, the regular daylight wasn't enough to trigger the switch from moonlight to daylight. I had to keep a lamp on to keep the tank light on, which is pretty silly. There is an option for manual on/off but then you give up the moonlight... either both lights are on, or neither. If you get enough light in the room, this could work for you. But the directions caution against keeping it in direct sunlight because the curve of the tank could cause a fire.Sunday, March 30, 2014

Coralife Pure Flo Filter Pad, 100 Micron
Buy Coralife Pure Flo Filter Pad, 100 Micron Now
Waste of money. My tank water was not too bad to begin with, but I thought I would try this with some carbon for the extra polish, instead of buying more Seachem Purigen 250ml (which makes water crystal clear). What a waste of money! From day one this has done nothing to clear my water, in fact it made it worse. It makes my AquaClear power filter stink after a few days (it was not clogged), and after 3 weeks of no results I threw out the filter pad and am not looking back. I have way too much of this stuff left, sitting in the cabinet under my tank, collecting dust. If you can't afford or don't like Purigen, polyester pillow stuffing (a.k.a. "filter floss") works better than this. Would not recommend.Read Best Reviews of Coralife Pure Flo Filter Pad, 100 Micron Here

JBJ 3 Gallon Picotope Curved Glass Aquarium
The real value in this set, though, is not the filter or the light (which is perfectly adequate), but the aquarium itself -The glass is very solid, heavy, and exceptionally clear. The bottom is beveled for beauty and stability. The buying price is worth it just for the tank itself. Pershnickity aquarists will find it worth the time and money changing out the filter and/or light for something better, because the aquarium itself is true quality. I'm into nano-reef aquariums. This is a great tank to get started! It's a popular tank for the hobby and there is lots of info is out there specifically for it. Looks nice and clean on a desk. Though, as with any tank, you will need to add a few parts. I added a modified AquaClear70, a MiniJet404 powerhead, and a Current Satellite 18W light, and a Hydor 25W heater. I strongly recommend this aquarium for anyone wanting to cultivate beautiful corals, but not interested in fish. You can really only do one small SW fish with this tank (I'm not planning to). Though there is plenty of room for a few other invertebrates.
Buy JBJ 3 Gallon Picotope Curved Glass Aquarium Now
First off, I have to agree with the previous poster. The end of the filter nozzle can slip off easily and can literally siphon small fish into the filter. I would recommend possibly using a rubber band or some way to make them stay attached more sturdily, or possibly some aquarium safe silicone. With that being said I also had a problem with one of the filters. I purchased four of these tanks for my bettas and one of the filters has a slow leak in the back. It is so slow I didn't realize it until the next day after having set these tanks up. It has caused water damage to my furniture. I specifically purchased a new book shelf to house these tanks and the shelf hasn't even been in my home for 72 hours and it now has water damage. I can accept this since it is toward the back up against the wall but here's the thing.....
I called JBJ Lighting and left a message which they did NOT return. I called them again and they wanted me to jump through all these hoops in order to show proof of my purchase. I spent over $160 on their products. I feel they should help me out a bit without me having to do so much work.
In any event, I called Doctors Foster and Smith (the vendor from which I purchased my tanks) and they are doing the work for me and have assured me they will take care of the filter replacement. I'm relieved and grateful and I highly recommend Doctors Foster and Smith. I have done business with them in the past and they have always taken good care of me.
I'm only giving the company JBJ Lighting 2 stars (because of how they handled me)but the tank itself with no problems would be worthy of at least 4 stars. My bettas seem quite happy in their new homes. The other disadvantage is they only have a 6 month warranty on these tanks. That's really a brief amount of time. Other companies offer at least a year's worth. In the future I will be hesitant to purchase items from JBJ Transworld Aquatic Ent., Inc. I do not appreciate their lack of putting the customer first.
Sept 21st ***UPDATE***
JBJ finally sent me a replacement filter. They sort of took their time. Now I am having problems with the impellers getting clogged with the charcoal medium that is breaking down. I decided to unplug and rinse everything out and the bag of charcoal is literally crumbling and making a mess everywhere. I've only had them working for roughly 3 weeks.
The one thing I noticed is that the impeller screws in from the bottom and can be disconnected from the body of the filter. This is design is INSANE! It's like having a bathroom sink hanging over the sides of the tank with a drain clog in place to prevent the water from seeping out. In time rubber breaks down and it WILL be a problem eventually. This i why one of my filters leaked from the get go.
These tanks are going back. Companies that pay no attention to quality are souring my desire to be an aquarist. I'd give them one star if I could but I can't change my initial 2 star rating.

Just received this tank today. In all honesty it was a great purchase. To get the tank, light, and a filter for 40(ish). Is a great deal. The glass is almost flawless as well as the seals. I honestly have no cons about the tank itself or anything else. For those skeptical I was there too.
The tank itself is actually a decent size and everything works just fine.

Tetra ReptoMin Sticks, Reptile Food
They love it and they are well nourished.
I also want to thank Ray Haberson of South Carolina for his continuance and loyalty to the preservation of the diamondback terrapins.I have a young painted turtle, and I had to find some food for it. I read some reviews of the ReptoMin foodsticks throughout the internet, and I figured I'd go with it. So, I go here to Amazon (because they have everything, no joke), find it in no time, and click the buy button. A couple days later, the stuff ships, and to my suprise, this isn't some small-fry food shaker. This is the mondo-ultra kingsize box when you compare it to the size of my turtle. I'll be glad in the future, because I know I won't have to reorder it anytime soon. Anyways...
I take out a couple pieces of food, and drop them in the water for the turtle to go at. Right away, the little booger turns around, sees the food, and takes after it. This stuff is like a turtle's delicious cake. Naturally, I found out that I had to soak it for a few minutes to let it soften up for the young turtle to be able to eat, but it doesn't matter to the turtle, he just loves the stuff (well, don't soak it too long or all of the flavor will dilute). He never did go through any kind of "Hmm, I've never seen this before, therefore it's probably gross. I won't eat it" type of stage. He dove right in. I've been feeding it to him for a little over a month now, and he's growing quite rapidly (I don't actually know the gender yet, fyi, you can't tell on young turtles such as this one). What can I say, he loves this stuff. I'd recommend it with full force, and when the time eventually comes, I'll buy it again.

We have a year old Western Painted water turtle. They are more carnivorous than Red Eared Sliders (but still need vege matter to be healthy). I have had a really hard time getting him to eat anything other than dried shrimp and insects and worried about him getting enough nutrition. We have tried lots of different turtle foods and even fish foods. But he loved this food right out of the package it has a softer texture than the other turtle foods we have tried but doesn't disintegrate in the water. It is also in small enough pieces that he can easily eat it even though he is only 1 1/2 inches long.My Red Ear Sliders aren't too picky about what they eat. However when it comes to a consistency Tetra's Reptomin sticks are the best. I tried others in large or bulk quantities and this one in my opinion, is best in food quality and consistency. I bought others and I get big clumps of sticks stuck together or product variations. The Tetra turtle sticks dissolve a little slower, giving my turtles more time to eat them whole. These sticks work great with my auto feeder, allowing more equal distribution each time it's on. My turtles are getting bigger so I had to buy bulk. Amazon has the best price around PLUS free shipping. At pet stores I've seen this 2 pound bag cost almost $50.Monday, October 14, 2013

Coralife 05692 Pure-Flo II 50-Gallon Per Day 4 Stage RO/DI System
RO filter is awesome.
Amazon is awesome.
This unit does not have a pump but works as advertised (get a gallon of 100% pure as in measured TDS of 0 water in about 30 minutes).I have been using this product for 3 weeks. So far, I've made about 100 gallons of RO/DI water for my marine aquarium, and my only regret is not purchasing an DR/DI filter years ago. I just hook it up to my kitchen sink faucet. There was no need for crazy plumbing projects. I am a little bit concerned about the longevity of the filtering system. The initial batch came out at about 8 parts-per-million total-dissolved solids (ppm TDS), but I'm already up to 15 ppm. However, this is still a pretty low TDS, and I might even be contaminating it just by measuring or something, so I'm not too concerned yet. I do have a couple tips that might make your choice-of-purchase or set-up easier.
1) Unless you plan on installing some kind holding tank and auto-shut off, this filter takes time. Remember, 50 gallons per day is only about 2 gallons per hour. If you don't think you have the patience for that, consider upgrading to a higher GPD.
2) I read some reviews of RO filters that costumers were unhappy because the filtered water was acidic and/or made metal parts rust very quickly. This is not a flaw in the filter this means it's working. RO/DI water has much less dissolved materials than most tap water. Without getting into the chemistry, this means that (1) when the water come to equilibration with the carbon dioxide in the air, it will be acidic, and (2) it will tend to oxidize (rust) metals that it comes in contact with.I use my filtered water to make home-made soda and ice cubes, but I think drinking the RO water straight is pretty gross it just tastes awful to me. I've also heard it can be unhealthy, but I don't have much info on that.
3) This filter works under rather high pressure, so there is a good chance that connections will leak. When you are assembling it, I recommend getting some teflon thread tape from the plumbing section of your hardware store. Wrap the tape tightly 2-3 times around the threads before fitting the connections to tighten everything up an prevent leaks.
4) I had trouble installing the RO cartridge. The cartridge housing is not see-through, so I couldn't tell if I was installing it correctly or not. I could not tell if it was assembled correctly until I had it completely assembled to test it. But you should be able to tell if it is working by the amount of water it is producing; when working correctly, you should be producing clean water at only a trickle (~50 GPD). If you set up the filter and are getting a high flow from the product [blue] tube, you can probably assume the RO cartridge is not installed correctly. (Also, you can check the TDS if you have a meter.) It took me about four tries to get the RO cartridge installed correctly. The thing was, it needed to be pushed very hard into the fitting. The resistance was so high that I was afraid to break it.
5) Many of the fitting on the unit come pre-assembled. A couple of connections on my unit initially leaked just a bit. You may need to unscrew them, wrap some teflon tape around the threads and reinstall. After I took the time to do that, my unit was 100% leak-free.
6) The unit comes with an adapter that should allow you to use it with a standard sink, but installing the adapter takes a few minutes or more, and is kind of a hassle. Also, the adapter is a pretty cheap plastic, so it's prone to leaking and liable to get chewed up if you're not careful installing it every time. I alleviated this issue my permanently replacing the head of my sink faucet with one that I can directly screw the filter on to; this only cost about $3. I did not have to replace the whole faucet, but the very end has outside threads like a garden-hose connection. This has made connecting and disconnecting the filter much more convenient.
Also, be aware that if you have a decorative sink faucet, the adapter might not work. You might have to be creative in installation. I live in an apartment, so I can't do any really involved plumbing projects; however, if I were in a house, I think it would be worth the effort to set the filter up with a holding tank and float valve, so that I there is always an available supply of filtered water.
7) I also purchased TDS meter (HM Digital TDS-EZ Water Quality TDS Tester), and was glad that I did. It is very convenient to be able to test and see how your unit is working. My tap water comes out around 500 ppm. My filtered water has been coming out between 5 and 15 ppm. Since I can check the TDS any time I want, it will be much easier to figure out when my filter needs to be back-washed or replaced.

I received my RO/RI system yesterday. In assembling it for use, I noticed the DI cartridge was broken into pieces probably from shipping. I called the numbers on the "Imporant Please do not return this product to place of purchase". The 800 number is a scam number trying to sell a $100 rebate for $1.99. The other is disconnected. This is very disappointing. I guess I will be sending this back to Amazon and looking for another manufacturer for an RO system.

Well I've been running this unit for about 6 months now. I've probably made about 700 gallons of water. I have to say, it's a bit concerning of how long it takes to reach sub 10ppm now. I would love to have 0ppm but this unit hasn't done that since the first week of operation. I'm doing good if I can get it down to 6 after about an hour of operation. This unit is okay for the cost, just don't expect it to be awesome.
